Kili and Tauriel had escaped the revelry and sat outside on the stairs. From the corners of her eyes she looked at the young dwarf. At the moment she met him, she had found him attractive, but because of Alyssae's confession that she had fallen in love with a dwarf, it wasn't that hard to accept. In contradiction to most dwarves, Kili was cheerful. He was sweet and tender, something she had noticed when he was looking for Alyssae.

"You're quiet," Kili noticed.

They had been together the whole day and Tauriel realized more and more that Kili would leave next day. That knowledge made her sad and she just couldn't get over it. The arrival of the dwarves had broken the daily grind and it was for the first time in weeks that she wasn't looking for spiders and orcs that crept into their realms.

Alyssae's stories had awakened her curiosity and now she also wanted to pass the borders of Mirkwood, to see what lied beyond. In recent years the woods had became darker every day and according to her friend, that wasn't the case everywhere.

"I will miss you guys," she sighed. "Especially you."

Tauriel hesitated. On the one hand she didn't want to make the farewell harder than it already was, but she didn't want to feel regret for the rest of her life, wishing she had made that step.

Kili didn't seem to know what he should say or do. Tauriel glanced at his pretty face once more and then bowed forward. There had been enough times in her life that chances had slipped through her fingers.

Her hand found his collar and she pulled him towards her, after which she kissed his lips avidly. She chuckled because of Kili's baffled attitude, but he recovered quickly and threw his arms around her. Softly and impatiently he bit on her lip.|

"Don't be so impatient," she grinned.

"We only have tonight, right?"

His eyes shone and Tauriel closed her eyes, while she welcomed his tongue and kissed him passionately.

A few moments later Tauriel leaned against Kili. His arms rested on her waist.

"Can't you come with us?"

"I have my obligations here," she sighed.

"You guys do nothing, besides scaring spiders," Kili mumbled. "I bet they know how to manage without you."

She played with his fingers. She wanted to go with him to see what was happening outside this kingdom. And if she was honest, she had to admit that she wanted to be with him. He caused butterflies in her belly, something no man from whatever race had ever succeed to do.

"Will Thorin approve?"

Kili shrugged. "I guess not, but I won't leave without you."

Tauriel smiled. He was sweet. She had always believed dwarves were embittered and greedy creatures, but Kili was surely from a different mold. "I'll remember that."

The prospect to go with him, filled her with so much joy she couldn't even describe her feelings. Always she had felt an outsider on Thranduil's court. A plain and simple wood elf that had became a captain, but one that only hunted arthropods, which wasn't honorable at all.

|"Of course there is one condition."

Tauriel turned her face towards him and raised her eyebrows questioning.

"I want to kiss you every hour."

She grinned. "It's always speculating when an hour has passed."

"I will tell you." Kili pushed up her chin and kissed her again.
