You're Banging My Bedroom Wall
XXXIII. Unexpected Surprises
Felicity quickly parked in her usual spot and snatched up her purse and keys. She rushed inside her apartment building, urgently pushing at the button to call the elevator down multiple times in the vain hope that it would make it come faster. The doors finally opened after a lifetime and she hit the button for her floor. Just as the doors were about to finish sliding closed, a hand shot out to stop them and Felicity bit back a groan, silently wishing that she had taken the stairs instead.
Two people stumbled into the space beside her, faces practically glued to each other's, and the guy blindly reached out to press the already lit button for Felicity's floor as the girl started to undress him. The girl shoved him back against the elevator wall and started to kiss and suck at his neck, completely oblivious to the other person standing with them.
Completely unimpressed, Felicity stared directly at Roy with a raised brow. "Get a room," she deadpanned.
"Blondie!" he yelped sharply, eyes widening in surprise and horror as he finally saw her.
Thea jumped at his outburst, pressing herself tightly against him and hesitantly turning her head to look over her shoulder. Realizing that it was just Felicity, she visibly relaxed, curling an arm around Roy's waist. "Hi, Felicity," she grinned with a small wave.
Felicity shook her head at them. "You two are lucky it was me and not Oliver."
Roy visibly blanched, but Thea just laughed. "It wouldn't be the first time!" she cackled.
The elevator stopped at their floor and they stepped out. Felicity's phone buzzed again, and she hesitantly grabbed it from her purse. Silently praying that it wasn't what she thought it was, she quickly swiped her finger across the screen. She let out a frustrated groan once she read through the message, shaking her head in disbelief.
"Everything okay?"
Felicity blinked and looked up to find Roy and Thea still standing there. "No," she admitted. "Your mother, she…she's done something and it's bad."
A bemused smile tugged at the corners of Thea's mouth. "Whatever Mom's done, I'm sure it's not as bad as you think," she tried to reassure her.
"Oh, it's pretty bad," Felicity told her. "I'm pretty sure you'll hear about it soon enough since she's already put some of her plan in motion." Her phone let out a series of chimes just then, letting her know that a whole string of texts was coming in. She glanced down at the lit screen and inwardly cringed at the sheer number of messages she saw. "I'd tell you guys more, but I've got to go." Before they could respond, Felicity all but sprinted down the hall to Oliver's apartment.
She opened the door and called out for him, dropping her purse and keys on the table just inside. "Oliver," she called again, her voice tinged with panic, as she made her way deeper inside his apartment.
Oliver's head peaked out from around the corner of his kitchen at the sound of her voice. Relief automatically flooded her body at the sight of him and she immediately rushed toward him, flinging her arms around his neck once she was close enough. His arms came up to wrap around her back and she melted against him.
"What's wrong?" he asked worriedly. "What happened? Are you alright?"
Her thoughts immediately went to the texts her mother had sent her and the hysteria came back full force. "I love you, Oliver. I really, really do, but your mother's gone and done it!" She frantically unlocked her phone and scrolled all the way back to the first text. "Your mom's elbow deep in wedding planning. She's already booked a venue at the botanical gardens and is in the middle of negotiations with a caterer and has basically bought a florist shop."
She shoved her phone into his hand and started pacing back and forth, anxiously biting at her nail.
"Wedding? Whose wedding, Felicity?" he asked, face pale, as he scrolled through the barrage of messages her mom had sent.
"Ours, Oliver. Your mother is planning our wedding." He stilled at her words, but she barely noticed. "We should have known this was coming! We should have taken her more seriously, Oliver, and done something!"
Oliver recovered and quickly nodded before gently cupping her face in his hands. "I love you, too, Felicity. So much," he softly murmured. And then he pressed a quick searing kiss to her mouth that made her forget everything before releasing her again. "I'm going to fix this tonight. I promise."
Still somewhat dazed, Felicity could only nod as he pressed another kiss to her cheek. "Okay," she heard herself faintly say. Oliver flashed her a reassuring smile before leaving.
It's not until after he's left that she realizes that was the first time they'd told each other "I love you" without thinking.

There shouldn't be very much left to this story.
No more than 2 or 3 chapters left by my estimate unless there's anything anyone wants to see in particular ^^
