A few hours had passed since the matches had ended and the classes had just ended, for most of the students that meant one of two things, either they were dueling, spending the rest of the night in their dorm rooms, doing homework or spending time with their significant other.
Or in Chloe's case she was getting ready for a date.
"So I hear Lance managed to get around to arranging a date for you two." Chelsea commented with a grin as she entered the dorm room, the date was taking place in the Ra Yellow Girl's Dorm cafeteria in an hour and Chloe was searching through her tops for one to wear. "Does that mean that the condoms he ordered have finally come in?"
"Did you have to word it like that?" Chloe asked as she glanced over her shoulder whilst removing the fifth crop top she had tried on that evening, "And I don't know, I think he's just been busy with other stuff hence why he waited until today." Chloe added before checking her closet again. "I have way too many crop tops."
"Chloe, considering how hot the island can get I'm pretty sure there's no such thing as "too many crop tops" for a female student." Chelsea responded as she sat down at her desk and logged in to the desk top. "Besides, it's not like you only have crop tops in your wardrobe."
"Yeah, I know but I don't think those tops suit me either." Chloe responded with an annoyed grunt. "Great, I want to look my best for my first date with Lance and I can't decide on a top to wear, just my luck!"
"Chloe, as someone who has been on my dates with partners of both genders I have one thing to say to that." Chelsea responded as she started fiddling with the ponytail her hair was currently in and Chloe looked up expecting some form of advice. "Been there, done that." Chelsea added causing Chloe to face-fault. "Besides, it's not like he's taking you to a fancy restaurant."
"If he was I'd be wondering where he got the cash from and if I could have some." Chloe responded as she got up getting a laugh out of her roommate. "Huh, never seen you with your hair tied up."
"Oh, this?" Chelsea asked as she pointed to her ponytail. "A student in the Osiris Red Boy's Dorm managed to get an art club set up and I figured I'd check it out after my last lesson finished, he pretty much insisted that most of the girls and Andreas keep their hair tied up."
"Didn't think you were into art." Chloe commented as she finally decided on a blue halter top and put it on. "Not counting album art at least, I have seen some of your album covers."
"Believe it or not the ones you've seen are the tame ones." Chelsea responded with a shrug. "Funnily enough I spent most of it trying to paint my own death metal album covers but since I suck at painting I ended up with stuff that Picasso would be freaked out by."
"You're kidding?!" Chloe asked with a laugh as she sat down at her desk and Chelsea shook her head. "So what did he think?"
"Well at first he thought I was trying to do abstract art, then I showed him some of my album covers." Chelsea responded as she shook her head. "Pretty sure I managed to get myself banned from the art club based on his reaction."
"Remind me to come with you if you ever go back there!" Chloe said with a giggle as Chelsea removed her hair from the ponytail. "Besides, I may be straight but even I think that you look better with your hair down, blue streaks in a ponytail just looks weird to me, especially combined with your black hair."
"Beth said the same thing when she saw me earlier actually." Chelsea commented as she pocketed the hairband. "Well, aside from the straight part at least, pretty sure I've mentioned how she's never had any sexual interest in boys."
"Yeah, you did." Chloe nodded in response as she thought back a bit. "Though I am a bit nervous about tonight, first date ever and all that."
"Yeah I had butterflies in my stomach the first time as well." Chelsea commented with a grin as she looked at her fingernails playfully. "But that's enough about the time I lost my virginity with my parents in the house." Chelsea added causing Chloe to face-fault.
"That wasn't what I meant!" Chloe asserted and Chelsea laughed.
"Maybe but my first date did end with my first time having sex, only reason we didn't get caught was because my parents came back from work just as we were finishing off, I helped him escape out the window." Chelsea explained and Chloe shook her head. "Fortunately they believed that I was letting a moth out the window when they came up to check on me and yes, it's the same guy who dad threatened into breaking up with me."
"Makes me glad that I waited until I was eighteen." Chloe commented with a small grin. "Speaking of which, when are you turning eighteen again?"
"Right after the Summer Break starts, in other words once the tournament's over." Chelsea responded with a grin. "Yeah, I know there's another week before it officially begins but still, I won't have my juvenile record hanging over my head anymore."
"Yeah, for one thing you'll actually be able to help us if the fight against the Orichalcos Assholes takes us abroad." Chloe responded and Chelsea grinned.
"Another reason why I'm glad that we were pretty much forced to wait." Chelsea responded before an idea popped into her head. "Come to think of it, didn't I see you with your hair tied up on the first trip to the academy?"
"Yeah and you may have seen me with numerous hair colors in my hair thanks to Ora "come on! I've never styled hair as long as yours before" Spence." Chloe commented as she shook her head. "Ora may have apologized but there's a reason why I asked Maria to give me a new roommate one I moved in." Chloe added before shaking her head. "Why do you ask?"
"I'm just thinking that it might be a good look for your date." Chelsea responded and Chloe sighed again.
"Number one: you do you realize how much of a bitch it is to get hair this long into a ponytail to begin with is right?" Chloe asked as she pointed to her long hair. "Second, part of the reason I wear my hair so long is to hide the scar tissue from, well, you know."
"Yeah, your piss-poor excuse of a dad, I know." Chelsea said as she shook her head sadly. "Still not sure how he didn't get a life-sentence for the abuse he inflicted on you alone, let alone killing your mom but that's beside the point."
"Can we please change the subject? I don't want to be depressed going into my first date, or any date for that matter!" Chloe asked and Chelsea winced.
"Heh, sorry." Chelsea apologized with a wince before getting back on track. "I didn't mean for you to wear it high anyway, pretty sure there's no way for you to wear it like that without looking stupid but then again I've never worn my hair as long as yours, you could just have it in a low ponytail."
"It doesn't matter if it's high or low, it'll be time for my date by the time I've finished putting it up and that's not even the main problem." Chloe responded as she sighed in annoyance. "The hairband I used that day was my only one and I think I lost it at some point during the Battle City trip."
"Yeah, I'm not about to search through the whole of New York for one hairband either." Chelsea responded with a slight laugh. "If you don't like wearing your hair up why did you have it in the first place?"
"Eh, I had it shorter for a while, down to my shoulders to be exact, mostly when I was in foster care." Chloe shrugged her shoulders in response as she turned to Chelsea. "When my parents adopted me I started growing it out and mom brought me the hairband to help with it, she dug it out of the closet a couple of days before I was set to leave for Duel Academy but I found it to be too much of a hassle since my hair's a lot longer than it was back then."
"Yeah, I'm not exactly a fan of it either, only agreed to have my hair tied up for the art club because the guy running it insisted." Chelsea responded as she shook her head. "So, err, you nervous about our match tomorrow?"
"Yeah a little bit, Kimberly was one of several Semi-Finalists that I never faced in Battle City though I did face her before the tournament, that match didn't exactly end well." Chloe responded after thinking for a moment. "Granted I was still using my early deck at the time and I didn't have nearly as much experience as I do now but still."
"Yeah, I kinda remember that deck, well I mostly remember scoffing at the thought of a student that still used Neo the Magic Swordsman in a deck that wasn't based around Rescue Rabbit." Chelsea remembered and Chloe shrugged her shoulders.
"Yeah well, I wanted to stick to the main theme of my deck, not to mention the fact that I hadn't heard of Rescue Rabbit or XYZ Monsters at the time." Chloe responded before checking the time. "Anyway, I'd better get going, my date's in ten minutes." Chloe said as she stood up and walked over to the door.
"If he ends up taking you back to his dorm room remember to remind him to wear a condom!" Chelsea responded and Chloe sweat-dropped.
"I don't think it'll get to that point but thanks." Chloe responded before leaving her dorm room and heading towards the stairway that would take her to the cafeteria. "Relax Chloe, it's just your first date with your boyfriend, what's the worst that can happen?"
*meanwhile*
Over in the Obelisk Blue Boy's Dorm Chloe's date/boyfriend Lance was in his dorm room trying to decide on a top to wear to the date whilst Andreas and Marcus watched on, the only problem was that most of Lance's tops were band t-shirts.
"Err, yeah, definitely not wearing the Butchered at Birth shirt." Lance said as he held up the t-shirt depicting the infamous Cannibal Corpse album cover. "Or do I need to remind you of the fact that I got detention the last time I wore this shirt."
"Well yeah but you wore it to a PE lesson." Marcus pointed out and Lance sweat-dropped.
"Only because all of my other tops were in the wash, besides they reduced the detention term after I mentioned that fact." Lance responded as he put the t-shirt back. "Besides, don't you have a study session with Nicola Andreas?"
"Yes, I promised her that I would help her with her homework but her last lesion of the day isn't over yet so we have time." Andreas responded as Lance continued to search through his tops. "Are any of your tops not band-shirts?"
"That's like asking a vegetarian if they want a steak for dinner." Lance responded with a deadpan expression on his face. "And I'm not going over there topless, last time I was topless around her was when I got a cold."
"Yes but it was also fairly late at night and you were wearing your swimming trunks, Chloe and Chelsea avoided getting colds because they got changed out of their swimsuits before checking on you." Andreas responded and Lance nodded reluctantly. "All though considering that that was an Orichalcos Duel getting a cold was the least of your worries."
"True." Lance admitted before deciding on a top. "Perfect, I got this t-shirt a few years ago at a German Metal festival, you might have heard of it Andreas, Wacken Open Air."
"It's hard to find a German Metalhead who hasn't heard of that festival." Andreas responded as Lance put the top on. "That was the year Iron Maiden headlined wasn't it?"
"Yeah, it was but I was introduced to more than a few bands that year who aren't as well-known as Iron Maiden through their sets and I'm still a fan of many of them today." Lance responded before going through his jackets, before he could pick one out though there was a knock at the door. "I don't think that's Chloe, there's still plenty of time before our date."
"I'll get it and see who it is." Andreas responded before standing up and answering the door. "Hey Tyler, what's up?" Andreas greeted him when he saw the older student waiting on the other side of the door.
"Bad news I'm afraid, someone in a dark robe has been spotted on the North Side of the island." Tyler responded and the three boys frowned in response. "Considering how warm it is today that would be suspicious enough but since dark robes seem to be the disguise of choice of the Orichalcos Duelists…..."
"You have got to be kidding me!" Lance interrupted him with an annoyed look on his face and Tyler looked up. "I finally get around to arranging a date with Chloe and those pricks send someone to the island? It was hard enough trying to ask her if she wanted to date me in the first place!"
"That's not the only problem, I promised Nicola that I would help her with her homework and she'll be coming over soon." Andreas chimed in and Tyler rubbed his chin in thought.
"Okay, normally I would say that the Orichalcos takes priority but considering the difficulty you've had trying to ask Chloe out I'll let you sit it out Lance." Tyler decided and Lance grinned broadly in response. "As for your study session, how about I take your place and you go search the north end with Marcus, Chelsea and Brandon?"
"Sounds good but what about the others? I know Chloe has her date with Lance but I'm not sure about the rest." Andreas asked and Tyler nodded.
"Miranda and Theresa have homework of their own, Jason, Chakra, Hu and Ash have to study for a test and like you said Chloe and Lance have their date." Tyler responded and Andreas nodded. "Chelsea and Brandon already know and they'll meet you by the main building."
"Got it." Andreas responded before he and Marcus left the room.
"Oh and Lance." Tyler said before he closed the door and Lance looked up. "Good luck tonight."
"Thanks man, fill us in on what happens later." Lance responded and Tyler nodded before closing the door.
*a bit later*
"This is it I'll finally confess my love to Andreas." Nicola thought with a grin as she walked down the pathway that would take her to the Obelisk Blue Boy's Dorm and the main building but right now she was more interested in the boy's dorm. "Okay yeah, he's supposed to be helping me with my homework but it's not like I can't squeeze in a little love confession whilst I'm at it, besides I've gone over this god knows how many times in my head so I'm ready for anything."
"Says the girl who accidentally walked in on her crush getting dressed earlier." Sapphire Pegasus's voice rang out and Nicola sweat-dropped. "And it's not as if you didn't enjoy the view either."
"I thought we agreed that you'd stop bringing that up once I summed up the courage to ask him out?" Nicola asked her duel spirit partner with an annoyed look on her face and Sapphire Pegasus chuckled.
"Yes but you haven't done that yet, until you do I'm going to keep tormenting you." Sapphire Pegasus responded and Nicola sighed in annoyance. "Besides, we both know that you enjoyed the view and was wondering what he's like downstairs so…..."
"And here you were wondering why I decided to get it over with just a few hours after that incident!" Nicola responded with an annoyed sigh before glancing down at her text books. "I'm just glad that he never walked in on me getting dressed."
"Never say never." Sapphire Pegasus responded and Nicola grunted in annoyance.
"Sometimes I wish I had never gotten a Duel Spirit Guide and this is one of those times." Nicola thought before making her way up the stairs to the boy's dorm, when she entered the dorm she found it mostly empty with a few students hanging around but they paid no attention to her. "Okay, Andreas's dorm is on the third floor, not only that but the stairs to the other floors is away from the first floor dorms." Nicola thought before taking a deep breath and making her way up the stairs.
"If you're looking for Andreas he's elsewhere on the island." Tyler's voice rang out and Nicola glanced over her shoulder seeing the older student standing behind her. "And yes he did mention that he was to help you with your homework but something came up at the last minute."
"Just my luck." Nicola thought with an annoyed sigh before turning around. "Did he mention where he was going or what came up exactly?"
"He didn't but he did mention going to the North Side of the island." Tyler responded with a nod before motioning to the other students who were still in earshot, it didn't take Nicola long to figure out what he meant. "He did suggest that I help you though."
"I guess that's better than nothing." Nicola responded with a shrug as she made her way down the stairs and started walking behind the taller student, once the other students were out of earshot Tyler turned to her. "Let me guess, the thing that came up was the Orichalcos?"
"You hit the nail on the head." Tyler responded as he folded his arms. "We don't know her certain but a figure in a black robe was spotted on the north end, we both know what that usually means." Tyler added and Nicola's expression turned grim before she nodded in response. "Marcus and Andreas went to investigate with Evan."
"Lance didn't go with them?" Nicola asked and Tyler shook his head.
"He would've but he's finally gotten around to arranging his first date with Chloe, given how long he's been trying to start a relationship with her they decided to let him go." Tyler added and Nicola frowned before letting out an exasperated sigh. "Let me guess, you were hoping to ask Andreas out once your homework was completed?" Tyler asked and Nicola nodded.
"Yeah, well after I accidentally walked in on him naked earlier I figured I may as well face the music." Nicola responded as she pocketed her hands and lowered her head sheepishly. "I wasn't planning on doing anything overdramatic like in a Rom-Com or anything, I was just going to ask him if he was interested in a date."
"Ah yes, Andreas did mention that." Tyler commented as he scratched the back of his head nervously. "You'll get your chance and besides, considering what happened earlier I think it would've been even more awkward even without the overdramatic anguished declaration of love."
"Yeah, good point." Nicola admitted with a sheepish laugh as the two teens started moving along again. "So, you think the robed guy that was spotted might have anything to do with the Jack Haines guy you made look like an idiot the other day?"
"I do actually, if not then Miranda owes me five bucks and a crate of Red Bull cans." Tyler responded getting a laugh out of Nicola. "I was serious."
"Oh." Nicola responded as she shook her head. "How about we change the subject?"
"Good idea." Tyler agreed with her before they reached his room, however before Tyler opened the door he noticed a note attached to it. "That's odd."
"Maybe it's Miranda telling you that there's a crate of red-bull cans waiting for you in there?" Nicola suggested when she saw the note and Tyler shook his head.
"Two problems with that theory, one Miranda has my phone number and it's not exactly a long walk from the Obelisk Blue Girl's Dorm to here either, two even if she did order a crate of red bull cans for me delivery day isn't until Friday." Tyler responded as he removed the note from the door whilst being careful not to rip it by accident and read it. "We have a problem."
"What do you mean?" Nicola asked and Tyler turned to her.
"You remember Jack Haynes?" Tyler asked and Nicola nodded. "The notes from him, it reads "meet me by the abandoned dorm by seven o'clock or your friends' souls will be captured"." Tyler responded as he handed the note to her. "He even signed it as Jack Hass to remove any ambiguity."
"Well it's not like the Orichalcos Duelists where that subtle to begin with." Nicola commented dryly as Tyler reached into his pocket and retrieved his prone. "How long do you have to get there anyway?"
"Half an hour, considering the main building has the fastest access route to the North Side that shouldn't be a problem, what should be a problem will be staying out of trouble considering that I'm already a recipient of an expulsion duel." Tyler added before getting an idea. "Nicola, do you know how to get to the abandoned dorm?"
"No, I've never been there and considering that merely standing in front of that building is grounds for expulsion I don't plan on it either." Nicola responded before it hit her. "You want me to go there first and see if he's in front of the building? What about the security cameras?"
"All the security cameras have the same blind spots, the western and eastern walls of the dorm." Tyler explained and Nicola remained unconvinced. "There's two cameras facing the entrance and two at the rear, back when it was still used the abandoned dorm's fire exit was at the rear of the building and since it's no longer alarmed they have cameras on it, basically all four cameras are facing the only ways in."
"Even so, what if one of the staff catches me?" Nicola asked with a frown on her face. "Somehow I doubt being the school's only autistic student will save me from a possible expulsion duel."
"If you get caught just tell the staff member or student that your helping Andreas and Marcus look for the hooded figure." Tyler responded and Nicola nodded after hesitating for a moment. "Only thing left is how you will contact me."
"I think I got your number when I joined in the fight against the Orichalcos, after Chakra and Jason's tag team duel that is." Nicola responded before reaching into her pocket, retrieving her IPhone and going into her contacts once she put in her passcode. "Yeah, I've got your number here, how about I message you to avoid Jack noticing me if he is there?"
"Good idea." Tyler nodded in response before taking her textbooks. "As for your homework, we'll deal with that later, what class is the homework for?"
"Hamden's class and I've got him in the mid-afternoon." Nicola responded as she checked her timetable. "What should I do if I run into him on the way?"
"Stall him, your smart so you should be able to think of something, in the meantime I'll give Chelsea a call and give her a heads up about what's going on." Tyler responded and Nicola grinned a bit before running off, Tyler entered his room and set the textbooks on his desk before grabbing his duel disk and deck. "Jason and Chakra's opponents used Fallen Angel decks and they are apparently very similar to Jack's deck, at least I know what I can expect." Tyler thought before strapping on his Duel Disk and picking up his phone.
*meanwhile*
The cafeteria at the Ra Yellow Girl's Dorm would normally be closed by now since dinner time was an hour ago and there were a few vending machines in the cafeteria if the girls in the dorm wanted to get a snack, a fact that was pretty much universal as far as the rest of the dorms were concerned, but tonight an exception had been made for Chloe's first date with Lance and a couple of cooks had stayed behind to help cook a meal for the two students.
"Where is he?" Chloe thought as she rested her hand on her chin and drummed her fingers on the table out of sheer boredom, Chloe had arrived at the cafeteria already and I had gone through a few drinks whilst waiting for Lance. "At the rate he's going I'll drink enough water to fill my bladder up for the next few days at least!"
"Hey gorgeous." Lance's voice rang out and Chloe looked up, she grinned when she saw her boyfriend and he sat down across from her. "Sorry for the wait, something came up."
"Why do I get the feeling that I know exactly what something is?" Chloe wondered with an annoyed look on her face and Lance nodded.
"Well, if your feeling's telling that you that there was a possible Orichalcos sighting on the island then your right." Lance responded as he shifted his weight and Chloe frowned. "Marcus and Andreas are investigating with Brandon and Chelsea."
"Weird, she didn't mention anything about it when I was picking out tops for the date." Chloe commented and Lance shook his head.
"She must've gotten Brandon's text after you left." Lance responded with a shrug and Chloe nodded in agreement. "Well, this is a great way to start our first date."
"Tell me about it, I think we'd better change the subject before we end up killing the mood." Chloe responded and Lance nodded without hesitation. "Thanks again for finally arranging the date by the way."
"No problem, pity we can't continue it in either of our rooms because the condoms still haven't arrived." Lance responded and Chloe gave him an odd look. "I don't know what the delay is."
"Whatever it is, I don't mind taking it slow, I'd rather not get pregnant within a week of starting our relationship, you know?" Chloe asked and Lance laughed a bit before nodding in agreement. "I know my dad won't exactly be happy about me getting knocked up whilst I'm still in school."
"Yeah but between that and the Orichalcos resurgence I think he might consider you getting pregnant at eighteen the lesser of two evils." Lance commented and Chloe grinned at that. "If not you could always buy me enough time to flee the country."
"Lance, I may be a chatterbox at times but not even I can keep a conversation going that long!" Chloe laughed as she shook her head. "I mean, there's only so long that I can keep talking about school life and working around the pregnancy before he catches on that I'm trying to buy you some time."
"Yeah, hence why I'm waiting for the condoms, well that and the possibility of getting an STD." Lance responded and Chloe winced. "And continuing down that road will kill the mood faster than talking about the Orichalcos so let's change subjects again, though I will admit that I have no idea how dates in general are supposed to work."
"You didn't go to Theresa for advice?" Chloe asked and Lance shook his head.
"She was busy." Lance responded and Chloe frowned.
"Well I'm not exactly an expert either." Chloe admitted as the cooks prepared a quick meal for them. "It's not like boys where never interested in me or anything but my experience with boys usually falls under one of two categories, either they just wanted to fuck me and be done with it or boys who wouldn't even go near me."
"Not to sound insensitive or anything but I have a hard time believing that second one." Lance commented and Chloe shook her head.
"You're not the first Lance." Chloe responded with a frown as they were given two more drinks. "The boys who wouldn't go near me were assholes anyway and I'm not saying that because they rejected me, more often than not they bluntly said that they didn't want to date a girl with the body of an eight-year-old boy." Chloe added with an annoyed sigh as she took a sip. "I'm still surprised that they didn't come right out and say that they didn't want to date a girl who was either flat chested or had small tits."
"They probably didn't want to risk you kicking them in the balls." Lance joked getting a laugh out of Chloe. "And besides, considering that your five foot two your boobs aren't that small."
"Yeah, that's what annoyed me the most, I was almost tempted to start saving up for a push-up bra before mom talked some sense into me." Chloe responded before fiddling with her hair a bit. "I can't remember what she said exactly but she basically said that if the boys were that rude to me in the first place they weren't worth the time, that and there was no way in hell that she was going to let her sixteen-year-old daughter buy a push-up bra when I had just finished using the training bra the year before."
"Yeah, she had a point there." Lance commented as he took a sip from his drink. "My mom pretty much drilled it into me and Mike's heads that we shouldn't just date girls for their bodies once we hit puberty, probably a good thing considering that my first date could've been with someone like Jessica Stevens instead of you."
"Yeah, thank god you have a mom like that." Chloe responded with a grin as she glanced up at the cooks preparing their meals. "Any idea what they are cooking for us?"
"When Martin asked me what food I'd like for the date I just asked him to keep it simple." Lance responded as he took a sip. "So he prepared a menu for the cooks to follow that consisted of Steak and sticky toffee pudding, good thing that I remembered that you like your steaks medium rare from the meals out we had in Battle City."
"Is there a better way to have steak? I don't think so." Chloe responded with a grin on her face. "As for the toffee pudding, that's pretty much perfect, it's my second favorite desert behind Tiramisu."
"Tirami what?" Lance asked with a confused look on his face and Chloe sweat-dropped.
"Oh right, forgot that there isn't much of an Italian-American presence in Phoenix." Chloe responded with a sheepish grin. "It's an Italian dessert made with coffee, if we ever move in together I'll have to make you one some time."
"You know how to cook?" Lance asked and Chloe shrugged.
"A little, I mostly learned how to cook from my mom and there are some things that I've mastered like Tiramisu but I'm still learning and I don't exactly get to cook much whilst I'm on the island." Chloe responded with a shrug. "What about you?"
"Let me put it this way, my mom tried teaching me after she got me, Sophie and Mike back from Child Services but she quickly abandoned the idea considering me to be a lost cause." Lance shrugged his shoulders and Chloe raised an eyebrow.
"I know your mom's strict but I didn't think she was that strict." Chloe commented as she took a sip from her drink and Lance shook his head.
"Well, it had something to do with the fact that my first attempt at cooking dinner ended with me nearly burning the house down." Lance responded causing Chloe to nearly spit out her drink in response whilst trying to hold back laughter. "No, I'm not kidding."
"Jesus Christ, that is pretty bad." Chloe responded with a laugh as she regained her composure. "So what happened exactly?"
"Well I left some burgers and sausages in the oven and went upstairs to play some metal, needless to say I got carried away and about ten albums later I realized that there was smoke coming from the kitchen." Lance responded with a sheepish grin on his face. "The food was basically reduced to ashes and my mom had to help me put out the fire, she banned me from cooking anything after that, I'm not even allowed to reheat a pizza in the microwave."
"Well, to be fair that should be a crime against humanity as far as I'm concerned." Chloe joked and Lance laughed at that as the waiter brought their food over. "And here I was thinking about giving it a shot myself but on the other hand I really don't want you to burn down one of the dorm rooms."
"Yeah, I don't think the teachers will be too happy about that, call me crazy." Lance responded as hee started eating the food.
"You're crazy." Chloe responded with a cheeky grin. "Anyway you should definitely get Martin to have Tiramisu on the menu for our next date."
"Our first date isn't over and you're already talking about our second? And I thought you hated moving too fast in a relationship." Lance responded and Chloe grinned sheepishly. "Come to think of it, how did you come across it? I know you're from New York which has a large Italian-American community but last I checked you weren't Italian-American."
"I'm not but New York has more than a few Italian restaurants." Chloe responded as she shifted her weight. "After my dad was sent to jail my aunt took me out to dinner to get my mind off things, she took me to an Italian Restaurant and that was when I had Tiramisu for the first time, unfortunately my aunt passed away in a car accident and there was no-one else in my family in New York so CPS took me in."
"Well, if anything that did lead to you taking up duel monsters so I guess there's a silver lining in there." Lance pointed out and Chloe couldn't help but agree with that. "Come to think of it, didn't you order Tiramisu when we were in New York for Battle City?"
"You mean the restaurant Hamden took us too right before Otto destroyed most of my original deck?" Chloe asked with a frown on her face and Lance winced. "What can I say? Old habits die hard, it wasn't the same place my Aunt took me too when I was younger but as far as I'm concerned you can't beat a good Tiramisu and that restaurant had it on its menu."
"I don't know this date has to be up there." Lance responded getting a laugh out of Chloe. "Seriously though, that does sound good but I'll admit that coffee and dessert doesn't sound like they go together."
"You'd be surprised." Chloe responded with a grin as they ate their food.
*a bit later*
Whilst Chloe and Lance's date was going on Nicola was making her way to the Abandoned Dorm on the north side of the island as per her previous agreement with Tyler, aside from the other students who were searching for Jack the North Side was pretty empty which made the task of getting to the Abandoned Dorm undetected that much easier for Nicola.
"Stay calm Nic, it's just the one building on the whole island that not even the horniest of couples visit for outdoor sex because it means possibly getting expelled." Nicola thought as she walked towards the dorm with her hands in her blazer pockets, she hadn't run into the other students yet but she had assumed that Chelsea had told the others. "What's the worst that can happen?"
"Do you really want me to list those?" Sapphire Pegasus asked and Nicola shook her head.
"I'm good thanks." Nicola thought before sighing to herself. "Between this and homework I'd rather be doing homework and that's not something that I ever thought I'd think."
"Hey Nic!" Chelsea's voice rang out and Nicola looked up seeing Chelsea approaching her. "After Tyler gave me the call I decided to join you, kill two birds with one stone basically."
"Isn't that even riskier? You've already been in one expulsion duel." Nicola pointed out and Chelsea frowned once she remembered that.
"Thanks for the reminder." Chelsea responded as she shook her head. "Look, I'll basically be using the same strategy as you and besides, it isn't the first time I went out of my way to avoid those cameras."
"Why would you come here on most…" Nicola trailed off as it her and she blushed like a madwoman. "You've had sex with Beth up here, haven't you?"
"Only once back when Chloe and the others were in New York for Battle City and the whole North Side was off limits." Chelsea responded and Nicola sweat-dropped. "Even then I had to get Beth super-drunk in order for her to even agree to having sex outside of her dorm room, she's a total clean freak."
"Yeah, you mentioned that before." Nicola responded as her blush started to die down. "Can we change the subject before I die of embarrassment?"
"Sure, we can always talk about how you walked in on Andreas whilst he was butt naked earlier." Chelsea responded and Nicola's blush only intensified. "And before you ask, someone overheard your conversation with him and word spread."
"Can we change the subject to something other than sex or any related topic?" Nicola asked with an exasperated sigh and Chelsea nodded with a grin. "And I didn't expect to say that sentence out loud."
"Yeah, okay, I don't want to embarrass you in public twice in one day." Chelsea responded with a small grin on her face. "This will probably sound weird considering how well known the fact that I'm gay is but you have my number right?"
"Err, yeah I think so." Nicola responded as she got her phone out and checked her contacts. "Yep, I've got you on my contacts, what are you thinking?"
"Well, obviously we can't be in two places at once, as awesome as that'd be, so I'm thinking that you check the front entrance and I'll check the back." Chelsea responded and Nicola nodded in approval of the idea. "We should probably keep the fact that Jack will be doing his best to avoid the cameras in mind since, you know, he'll want to avoid attention."
"Right, the last thing he wants is to be caught." Nicola responded with a nod before the two girls split up and reached the entrances, Nicola checked the cameras and confirmed that they were pointing away from her and towards the entrance. "Those cameras look like they cover the whole courtyard as well as the entrance, wouldn't be surprised if that factored into Jack's plan." Nicola thought before scanning the courtyard in front of the entrance, however she promptly noticed a hooded figure and frowned. "What the…" Nicola thought before calling Chelsea. "Chelsea, do you want the good news or the weird news?"
"Depends on what you mean by weird." Chelsea responded with a hint of suspicion in her voice.
"Well, the good news is that I think I can see Jack, weird news is that he's not even trying to hide his identity to the cameras." Nicola responded as she glanced up again. "Hell he hasn't budged an inch since I saw him, what do you remember about your last trip to the dorm?"
"Well it was late so I didn't exactly get a good look around, I didn't even see the cameras." Chelsea responded and Nicola frowned. "And even then I didn't spend all that long outside the dorm, me, Chloe, Marcus, Andreas and Lance entered the dorm within a couple of minutes of our arrival and Theresa, Tyler and Brandon followed us not long afterwards, why do you ask."
"I think he's intentionally trying to lure Tyler to the courtyard." Nicola responded with a frown. "Almost like he wants Tyler's capture, god forbid, to be caught on camera."
"As bad as it sounds I can at least see his reasoning, if he's going to take down the school's best student he's going to rub it in the staff's faces." Chelsea admitted with a frown. "Okay, I'm going to hang up and call Tyler, don't let him out of your site Nicola."
"That won't be difficult considering that he hasn't moved an inch since I spotted him." Nicola responded as she shook her head and Chelsea hung up on her. "I don't like this one bit but what choice do we have? At least Tyler will be able to handle him."
*a bit later*
"Well, well, looks like Tyler's not going to show." Jack commented with a smirk as he folded his arms across his chest. "Maybe I'll start going after the other students to lure him out? I know that autistic girl from Osiris Red is a close friend…"
"Don't even think about it!" Tyler interrupted him as he marched into the courtyard with his duel disk at the ready. "I'm here Jack, what do you want?"
"You have your Duel Disk so you must have figured it out for yourself by now." Jack responded as he held up his Orichalcos Duel Disk. "I mostly want revenge for you exposing me the way you did but most importantly I want to deal a crippling blow to your friends' moral and what better way to do that than to take out the best student in the school? Granted I think you mostly got where you are because of who your step-dad is but that's not important and besides, we both know that your real daddy…"
"Don't even THINK about bringing him up!" Tyler snapped at him and Jack stopped dead his tracks. "Yes, Michael was my father but he was also a maniac who terrorized the Battle City Participants among other crimes, as far as I'm concerned he was never my real father."
"Oh, did I touch a nerve?" Jack asked with a smirk on his face. "Call me when I need to give a shit! For now, let's due!"
"Not just yet." Tyler responded and Jack blinked in confusion. "Ever since the Orichalcos resurfaced you have been targeting the students at this academy where there is at least a dozen pro league duelists who I'm sure would make for more worthy targets."
"Err, Tyler, are you sure that you should be giving them ideas?" Chelsea asked as she and Nicola walked up to the outskirts of the courtyard, just outside the viewing range of the cameras. "Just saying."
"I know what I'm doing, have you alerted the other students?" Tyler asked and Chelsea nodded.
"Only ones I didn't notify where Chloe and Lance since they are on their date but we can bring them up to speed later." Chelsea added and Tyler nodded.
"Anyway back on topic." Tyler added as he turned his attention back to Jack. "Why?"
"What?" Jack asked with a look of confusion on his face.
"Why did your boss chose to target this school? Even if he's going after the schools specifically this school is hardly the only one in the world." Tyler added as his eyes narrowed. "So why did he decide to go after us?"
"Wouldn't you like to know?" Jack asked with a chuckle as he removed his hood revealing a scruffy looking man in his early thirties with shoulder length messy brown hair, an equally messy goatee that matched his hair color and brown eyes. "Truth is I'm just as clueless as you guys are! Victor never revealed why he wants us to go after you guys but considering that three of you have the Legendary Dragons I'm willing to bet that he's on to something!" Jack added before activating his duel disk. "So let's duel!"
"I suppose I have no choice." Tyler responded before activating his duel disk, before they drew their opening hands Tyler glanced up at the cameras. "I suppose your choice of location isn't an accident."
"You catch on quick, if I'm going to defeat you then I may as well make sure that the staff here know!" Jack responded as they drew their hands. "I'll even let you go first."
*meanwhile*
Whilst the duel was about to begin Martin was in his office with the other teachers, they had already been alerted to the situation at the abandoned dorm and where currently discussing how to approach it.
"Looks like the Orichalcos Duelist is making his move against Tyler." Jeff commented as he folded his arms. "I say we shut down the duel disks before the duel can even begin, Tyler's a martial artist so he should be able to take him down without much problem."
"I already tried that after this was brought to my attention." Martin responded with a frown as they watched the back and forth between the two duelists. "I don't know how he did it but something is blocking the signal and Jack's been there the longest so it has to be him."
"And your forgetting one thing, the failsafe only applies to Duel Academy Duel Disks." Tracy chimed in with a frown on her face. "I'm not usually one to state the obvious but Jack's duel disk is clearly not a Duel Academy model."
"You're right, we need another plan." Martin responded as there was a knock at the door. "Come in." Martin called out and his secretary came in carrying several drinks on one tray. "Thank you Misty."
"No problem Mr. Wise." His secretary responded before setting down the tray on his desk and letting the teachers take their drinks, once they were taken she picked up the tray again. "Anything else or can I get back to work on my report?"
"Actually there's one more thing." Martin responded and Misty turned her attention to him. "Mobilize the Disciplinary Action Squad and have them close in on the Abandoned Dorm, I'll handle the specifics."
"Right away sir." Misty responded before quickly leaving the room and closing the door behind her.
"The D.A.S.?! Really?!" Jeff asked with a look of confusion on his face. "Martin, I know this is Tyler's second serious offence but for all we know Jack lured him there and besides, he's not even in the dorm!"
"I never said anything about this action being directed towards Tyler." Martin responded as he watched the action on the security camera.
"Then who is it for? I know Chelsea Cunningham and Nicola Hasting's duel disks where detected in the area but they aren't in the courtyard." Tracy chimed in before it hit her. "This is for Jack, isn't it?"
"Yeah I get it now you want to ensure that Jack can't get away if Tyler loses the duel." Jeff responded with a nod and Martin nodded in confirmation. "What about the other students?"
"Andreas, Brandon and Marcus are too far away, Chloe and Lance are on their first date and Theresa has homework to do." Martin responded before taking a sip of his drink. "And as for Nicola and Chelsea, do you honestly expect me to ask two teenage girls who are 5ft 4 and 5ft 6 respectively and the average weight for a young woman of their heights to try to take down someone twice their weight? Even with the numbers game and Chelsea's toughness it would be unfair to expect that of them." Martin added and the other teachers nodded. "For now all we need to do is wait."
*back at the duel*
"If you insist." Tyler responded as he drew his opening hand and Jack did likewise. "Jack's using the same deck as those twins who dueled Jason and Chakra yesterday, I should expect a few XYZ Summons and more importantly the Orichalcos if I don't get my precaution against that field spell off in time." Tyler thought before drawing another card. "I summon Doctor Frankenderp in attack mode!"
"Doctor what?!" Chelsea asked with a slight laugh as Tyler's monster appeared on the field, it was a strange robot that was purple and beige in color and was wearing a doctor's coat with nothing underneath it (3/300/300). "Are we sure that Sophia Pegasus hasn't lost her marbles yet?"
"I'm not even going to comment on that." Tyler commented as a sweat-drop rolled down his head. "But what I will do is activate Doctor Frankenderp's effect! If this monster is normal or special summoned I get to pay five hundred life-points to look at the top card of my deck." Tyler added as his life-points dropped to 7500 and he picked up the card. "From here I get three choices, it goes to the bottom or the top of my deck OR I get to add it to my hand." Tyler said before turning the card around. "I'll add this to my hand, unfortunately that also means that I have to skip my next draw phase but I have enough to work with here! I set three cards facedown and end my turn."
"I'm still trying to wrap my head around that damn name!" Jack responded with a large sweat-drop rolling down his head before drawing his card. "I'll kick my turn off with a classic! Allure of Darkness!" Jack announced as he played the spell card and drew two cards before pocketing one. "Next I summon a monster you should recognize, Depressed Angel!" Jack played the card and the angel that looked like the Unhappy Maiden appeared on the field (1/500/200). "I haven't drawn the Orichalcos yet but even if I had my angel still has more attack points than that B-Movie reject!"
"Then why don't you attack?" Tyler asked and Jack smirked.
"Because why should I bother inflicting a small amount of damage to you when I can go one better? But you don't have to worry about that yet! I set two cards facedown and end my turn." Jack set the two cards facedown and Tyler skipped his draw phase due to Doctor Frankenderp's effect.
"I was hoping that he'd go on the attack but now I have bigger problems." Tyler thought as he looked over his hand. "It's safe to say that one of his facedown cards is Weeping into Heaven/Laughing into Hell and if he's able to get that trap card off and summon Laughing Demon then we'll have problems and that's not getting into the fact that I don't have a copy of Mystical Space Typhoon in my hand or on the field, I'd better play it safe." Tyler thought as he switched Doctor Frankenderp to defense mode and the weird psychic monster crouched down. "I'll end my turn at that."
"And here I was expecting an actual challenge!" Jack scoffed as he drew his card. "And now you're in real trouble! I activate a Spell Card called Twin Twisters!"
"I've heard of that card with it you can destroy two Spell/Trap Cards on the field." Tyler responded with a frown as Jack discarded a card. "And that makes things even worse because I need two of my facedown cards for my strategy to work."
"That's right and all for the cost of discarding a card from my hand! My targets are your facedown card on the far right…..." Jack trailed off as Tyler's facedown card was destroyed by a tornado. "And my own facedown card!"
"Wait, what?!" Tyler asked as a second tornado destroyed Jack's facedown card. "Why would you do that?"
"Maybe because that facedown card is one that can only be activated after it's destroyed by card effect?" Jack asked rhetorically as he turned the trap card around and it depicted DD Warrior Lady escaping through a dark portal. "Dimensional Break Out! As I said, to activate it this card needs to be destroyed by a card effect but now that it has been destroyed I can Special Summon One Dark Type monster from my banished pile, so please welcome back another old friend! Laughing Demon!" Jack played the card and the demonic version of Sagi the Dark Clown appeared on the field with a mad cackle (3/600/400).
"Why even bother with the elaborate set up? Felicia summoned that monster normally without any problems and you could've used D.D.R – Different Dimension Reincarnation for the same result and cost?" Tyler asked and Jack smirked.
"Are you kidding? I may have given those sluts some of my spare copies but not all of them! Yeah, Felicia summoned Laughing Demon normally but she never realized its full potential!" Jack explained as a card ejected out of his graveyard slot. "If Depressed Angel is on the field when Laughing Demon is special summoned I get to special summon a certain monster from my deck or graveyard, now granted if I do this I have to skip the battle phase on my next turn but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it! I special summon Giggling Ghoul!" Jack played the card and a new monster appeared on the field, it was the ghostly figure of a clown wearing a twisted version of a normal clown's outfit and, as its name suggested, was constantly giggling (1/300/600).
"Why is that in your deck? It's clearly a zombie type monster and your Fallen Angel monsters require the use of a Dark Fiend type monster to summon them!" Tyler pointed out and Jack laughed for a good minute. "Either I missed the joke or that ghoul's giggling is infectious."
"The joke is you! For starters Giggling Ghoul is a Fiend Type Monster." Jack responded before picking up another card. "And one more thing, there's a reason why I summoned Laughing Demon via Dimensional Breakouts effect rather than use DDR, other than the fact that it's a blatant reference to a city arcade game, for one thing if I special summon another Dark Type Fiend using any monsters effect I can banish it from the graveyard and special summon one Light Type Fairy Monster, so how about another blast from the past? Come on out Corrupted Angel!" Jack played the card and the demonic fairy appeared on the field (2/100/500).
"He just had to bring that monster out, didn't he?" Chelsea sighed to herself as she shook her head. "At least her presence on the field will be brief."
"I'm just over here dreading the XYZ Summon that'll involve Depressed Angel and Laughing Demon." Nicola responded with a groan and Chelsea winced when she remembered that incident from Chakra and Jason's tag team Orichalcos Duel.
"Oh, you remember that do you?" Jack overheard them with a smirk on his face. "Well why not take you babes on a trip down memory lane?"
"First off, we're both seventeen, it's bad enough when boys our own age call us babe but you? You're at least twice our age!" Chelsea responded as a large sweat-drop rolled down her head. "Second I know that you are aware of the fact that I'm a lesbian so drop it!"
"Oh, I know, I just don't give a shit!" Jack responded with a grin as his remaining trap card flipped up. "Back to business! I activate my Trap Card Weeping into Heaven/Laughing into Hell, and I know you three where present for that tag team match so I don't think an explanation is necessary, I declare level seven and you know what that means!" Jack added as Depressed Angel and Laughing Demon's levels increased to seven.
"A Rank Seven XYZ Summon?! This is bad!" Tyler thought with a frown as he stared at the two monsters before realizing that Giggling Ghoul was glowing. "Do I even need to ask why that monster's glowing?"
"Oh this? Giggling Ghoul has an effect of his own, I merely chained my trap card to its effect." Jack responded with a grin. "You see if I banish a card from my graveyard my Ghoul gets its effect off, depending on what type of card got banished its level goes up by a certain amount and in this case Ghoul's level goes up by five since I banished a trap card." Jack explained as Giggling Ghoul's level increased to six.
"I suppose your plan is to use Laughing Demon and Depressed Angel to XYZ Summon a Fallen Angel monster and then use Corrupted Angel's effect to match Giggling Ghoul's level and go for another XYZ Summon?" Tyler asked as he folded his arms. "Don't forget, I saw the tag duel where those monsters were used against Jason and Chakra so I know her effect."
"You think you know her effect inside and out? Think again!" Jack responded with a grin. "There is one thing that I forgot to mention about Giggling Ghoul, he's a Tuner Monster!"
"WHAT?!" Tyler yelled out as Giggling Ghoul and Corrupted Angel leapt into the air for the Synchro Summon.
"Did you go deaf or something? I said he's a tuner monster!" Jack responded mockingly as he retrieved a monster from his extra deck. "Just because those idiots used Fallen Angel XYZ Monsters doesn't mean that the Archetype only uses XYZ Monsters so I Tune Giggling Ghoul with Corrupted Angel to Synchro Summon Fallen Angel – Francis the Wicked!" Jack played the card and a new monster emerged from the bright flashing light, it was a warrior in heavy plate armor and like the other Fallen Angels he was split down the middle, one side depicted a handsome young man with short black hair, blue eyes and a pleasant smile whilst the other side had the same colored hair but blood red skin and eyes and this was reflected in his armor as well as one side was pure white whilst the other was jet black (8/2800/2000).
"This looks bad." Nicola commented with a wince as the monster appeared on the field. "At least he hasn't brought out an XYZ Monster yet."
"Give him a couple of minutes." Chelsea responded before realizing something. "Come to think of it, why hasn't he brought out the Orichalcos yet?"
"If I had that Orichalcos in my hand I would've played it by now! Same goes for any method I have to search my deck for the card!" Jack responded as he shook his head. "Typical, I get everything I need for an awesome opening move but not the fucking seal! Doesn't matter anyway, next I use Laughing Demon and Depressed Angel in an XYZ Summon!"
"Not this again!" Chelsea winced as the portal opened up and Depressed Angel was dragged into the portal by Laughing Demon from behind as the Demon suddenly appeared behind her, the horrified screams and maniacal laughter echoed from within and Chelsea's eyes narrowed. "I'm still having a hard time believing that Sophia Pegasus would sing off on cards that would create those holograms."
"Oh please, that's just a custom thing with my Fallen Angel monsters." Jack responded with a sadistic grin as he turned to Chelsea. "And I don't see what the big deal is personally! Hell I find it arousing!"
"Okay that does it!" Chelsea said with a growl before removing her duel disk from her arm. "Tyler, any objections to me beating him to death with my duel disk?"
"I wouldn't jump to an answer just yet Tyler!" Jack responded and the teens turned to him. "If she even hits me once the duel will end in disqualification but I'll still have my monsters on the field thanks to this." Jack said before holding up his middle finger revealing a gold ring with a green gemstone in it. "See the gemstone? It's an Orichalcos stone, all I need to do is touch it and I'll trap all three of you in the seal and sic my monsters on you and, well, let me put it this way, last time I did that the remains of my victims could fit inside a matchbook!"
"Not if I knock you the fuck out first!" Chelsea growled but Tyler blocked her with his arm. "Tyler?"
"Do you really want to run that chance? And besides, even if you knock him out you'll get in trouble for trespassing on the Abandoned Dorm and do I need to remind you of what happened last time?" Tyler asked and Chelsea hesitated before putting it back on. "I find his comments disgusting as well but that's not the answer! Trust me, I've got this!"
"Oh, does that mean I can continue?" Jack asked and Tyler nodded before Jack played a card. "As I was saying before that bitch interrupted me, I use my two Level Seven Monsters to XYZ Summon Fallen Angel – Victor the Destroyer!" Jack played the card and a new monster appeared on the field, he was a tall man and like the other Fallen Angel Monsters he was split down the middle one side depicting a handsome man with wild black hair and the other side depicting a demon, his armor was blood red and he was carrying a jagged sword (Rank: 7/2800/2200).
"Two monsters with 2800 attack points? This looks bad." Nicola commented with a wince whilst Chelsea continued to glare at Jack.
"She doesn't know the half of it! You see if I have Francis the Wicked on the field and I special summon a Fallen Angel monster his effect activates destroying one of your cards for each monster that was special summoned this turn." Jack explained and the two girl's eyes widened whilst Tyler remained calm. "So let's do some math, huh? I special summoned three monsters at the start of my turn, then I used those three monsters plus Depressed Angel to Special Summon two additional monsters so in total that comes too…"
"Nothing! I activate my own trap card from the Graveyard Breakthrough Skill!" Tyler interrupted him as he retrieved the card from his graveyard. "Now that I've banished this trap card from the graveyard I can negate Francis the Wicked's effect for the rest of the turn!" Tyler added as Francis doubled over in pain when he reached for the sword.
"Fine! Just because I can't wipe out your field for free doesn't mean I can't go on the attack and since the only monster you have is Dr. Frankenderp your life-points are mine for the taking! Francis, attack that stupid monster now!" Jack demanded with a massive grin on his face and once Francis recovered he charged towards the much weaker Psychic Type Monster….
"And here I was beginning to think that I'd never get to use this combo." Tyler commented dryly and Jack blinked. "I activate my Quick Play Spell Card Emergency Teleport! Now with this I can Special Summon one level three or lower Psychic Type Monster from my hand or deck, I'm going into my deck for this one." Tyler added before inputting some commands, the deck shuffled for a few seconds before giving Tyler the card he needed which he took. "I use my Spell Card to summon Krebons in attack mode!" Tyler added as the weak Psychic Tuner appeared on the field (2/1200/400).
"Hah! You just made things a lot easier for me or did you forget about the replay rule?" Jack asked rhetorically before pointing to Krebons. "Change of plans Francis, the ugly little thing's your new target!" Jack added and the warrior charged towards Krebons. "Even if you use Krebons's effect to negate the attacks from my monsters you still need to pay life-points for it and even if you've got Urgent Tuning facedown, how the fuck is Magical Android going to help in this situation?!"
"She isn't." Tyler responded as his trap card flipped up and Jack's smile disappeared. "You were right about one thing I did have Urgent Tuning facedown but you were wrong about my intentions for it! I activate Urgent Tuning to tune Krebons with Dr. Frankenderp!"
"How could I be wrong?!" Jack demanded as the two monsters leapt into the air Krebons barely dodging Francis's sword in the process whilst Tyler retrieved a monster from his extra deck. "There's only one Level Five Psychic Synchro and that's Magical Android!"
"Why don't I show you? I tune my two monsters together to Synchro Summon Psychic Defender!" Tyler responded as a bright flash enveloped the field for a few seconds before it faded revealing Tyler's new monster, it was a tall android with grey skin crouching down and as soon as it appeared on the field it inputted some commands into a wrist mounted control panel causing a shield big enough to cover his entire body to spring from it (5/0/3000). "Now, what were you saying about the replay rule?"
"I thought it was the dyke who was supposed to be the smart ass?!" Jack asked with a large sweat-drop rolling down his head whilst ignoring Chelsea's death glares. "I end my battle phase but I'm not done with my turn! I set one card facedown and end my turn." Jack set the card down and Tyler drew his card.
"I activate the Spell Card Arkasic Record! Now I draw two cards but unless they are cards that I haven't already used they are going straight to the graveyard!" Tyler played the Spell Card and drew two new cards, he kept a poker face as he discarded both cards. "I have used both of those monsters so they go to the graveyard!"
"Hah! That's gotta be the biggest dead draw I've ever seen!" Jack responded with a grin as Tyler sent his Spell Card to the graveyard. "And why are you even bothering with any suspense in the matter? You've only played two non-synchro monsters and they were Krebons and Dr. Frankenderp! Stevie fucking Wonder could see that! How are you in Obelisk Blue again? And if it's because of daddy's money I wouldn't be surprised."
"I earned my spot in the dorm on my own merits, my father's connections had nothing to do with it!" Tyler responded with a frown. "But you have something else to worry about now! I activate Psychic Defender's effect."
"So that thing's more than just a stone wall in the shape of a rip-off Transformer's Toy huh?" Jack asked with a grin which turned to a look of confusion when Psychic Defender's defense dropped to 2200 and it's shield weakened.
"Confused? Let me spell it out for you!" Tyler said as he started inputting commands into his duel disk. "You see to activate Psychic Defender's effect I have to deduct eight hundred defense points from his score but in exchange I can add one Spell/Trap Card with the word Psychic in its name." Tyler added before a card was ejected from his duel disk and he swiftly added it to his hand. "Don't think for a second that you have an easy route to my life-points as soon as your turn begins though."
"Oh really? Because from where I'm standing you may as well not have a single monster in play! With its defense score reduced that toy is going to get recalled with a little help from Francis!" Jack responded with a sadistic grin. "Oh and there's one other thing I forgot to mention, if Giggling Ghoul is used in the Synchro Summon of a Dark Fiend Type monster that monster gains the ability to inflict piercing damage!"
"So that's why you attacked with Francis first, well it's not like it matters." Tyler responded as he folded his arms. "If you hadn't interrupted me I would've explained that as long as Psychic Defender's defense score is lowered he can survive two attacks per turn, I set one card facedown and end my turn." Tyler set the card down and Jack growled before snatching up a card.
"You think you're so smart? Just watch! All I need is the Seal of the Orichalcos or any card that can search that card out!" Jack responded before looking at his drawn card, however as soon as he laid eyes upon it his grin turned into a massive, sadistic one. "And if that isn't perfect timing I don't know what is! I activate the Spell Card Terraforming and you know what that means!" Jack said as he played the card and started inputting commands into his duel disk.
"Yes, you are about to play the Seal of the Orichalcos." Tyler said in an unusually calm tone of voice for the situation which clearly caught Jack off guard. "Don't you have an effect to resolve?"
"I was getting to that!" Jack responded before his duel disk ejected the card he was looking for and he looked at it. "And now I'm going to play the instrument of your demise! I activate…..."
"Sorry but your instrument needs a few more minutes of tuning up! I activate my Trap Card Psychic Field Shield!" Tyler activated the trap and the scenery changed to what looked like an area of outer space, they weren't near any planets or the like but there was nothing surrounding them aside from the odd star. "What's wrong Jack? Never paid attention in high school science class?"
"I'll have you know that I'm a high school drop-out!" Jack responded before looking around. "Even so I know some basic stuff, like, oh I don't know, the fact that I can hear stuff and BREATHE IN SPACE!"
"Congratulations! You've figured out that we've been using holograms for the past few minutes." Tyler responded as his voice dripped with sarcasm.
"I'll show you! I activate the Seal of the Orichalcos!" Jack responded with a growl as he went to activate his Field Spell with an evil laugh…...that was cut short when he realized that the Field Spell Slot wasn't opening. "What the? Why isn't it opening? Is it broken?!"
"Jack, my step-father runs the company that manufactures the disks we are using right now, he personally oversaw the development of the original Duel Disk and its successor that would see use from the original Battle City onwards and eventually replace the archaic duel field all together." Tyler responded as he folded his arms. "And despite all the facts that I've just laid out he never once saw a Field Spell slot fail to open for anything other than a card effect and this is no exception."
"What are you talking about?!" Jack demanded and Tyler grinned.
"Let me put it this way, you never let me finish my explanation of Psychic Field Shield's effect." Tyler responded and Jack's eyes darted towards the trap card's hologram. "Admittedly it's one of my most situational cards and one that I got in preparation for the tournament, granted it's a moot point as my team was eliminated in the second round but still, my point is that this is a Trap Card that acts on a timer of sorts, you see as long as it's on the field neither of us can play a field spell and it's treated as Brain Research Lab, complete with its effects."
"So it's a Trap version of one of the key cards in any psychic deck? I'm not seeing how it's situational." Jack responded and Tyler frowned.
"It's situational because of its side effect." Tyler responded as he held up his duel disk in a way that made the graveyard slot visible. "At the end of each of my turns I have to banish one Psychic Type Monster from my graveyard to keep it in play, not only that but if it's destroyed in that way and I've played cards that would normally require a cost or use the Normal Summon effect of Brain Research Lab the damage will be doubled."
"What?!" Chelsea and Nicola asked simultaneously whilst Jack started laughing his ass off.
"Let me get this straight, you're willing to risk taking double damage from Brain Research Lab's effect just to keep me from playing the Orichalcos?!" Jack asked once he regained his composure. "You know I've claimed a lot of victims ever since I was recruited by Victor and ever since that Battle City debacle there's been four of them, five counting you, that have claimed to have prepared a perfect strategy to counter the Orichalcos, and hell, just ask the next thug we send to the island if they've encountered the same thing and they'll basically tell you the same thing, my point is that your plan is the dumbest I've ever heard and I've heard a lot of dumb Anti-Orichalcos strategies in my time! You know what else you'll have in common with those idiots?"
"Do I really want to know?" Tyler asked and Jack's grin grew wider.
"They all failed." Jack responded before pointing to Psychic Defender. "Now then, your transformer toy may be able to survive this attack but as I explained earlier he can inflict piercing damage thanks to Giggling Ghoul! Francis, attack Psychic Defender!" Jack commanded and the fallen angel charged towards Psychic Defender before slamming his sword into the shield, the shield barely held but Tyler still winced as his life-points took a hit. "And I guess now would be a good time to explain Francis's normal effect as well, whenever he inflicts battle damage it gets doubled!" Jack explained as Tyler's life-points dropped to 6800. "Now I could finish the job with my other monster but quite frankly I'm not dumb enough to give you an extra monster to banish!"
"You were dumb enough to visit a brothel whilst under probation for solicitation, weren't you?" Tyler asked and Jack growled.
"How did you…..." Jack trailed off as he glared at Tyler. "Forget it! I end my turn!" Jack announced and Tyler drew his card as Psychic Defender's defense score returned to normal.
"Jack, we have a problem!" Sara's voice rang out through Jack's earpiece and Jack frowned.
"Yeah, I know, this punk's got the Seal of the Orichalcos at bay for now and he has a monster that I can't attack over even if I wanted too!" Jack responded as he turned his back to the three teens for a moment. "Not to worry though, he'll run out of stalling tactics soon enough!"
"That's not the problem I was referring too." Sara responded and Jack frowned. "Though that may end up playing a part in said problem, the school has dispatched the Disciplinary Action Squad to your location."
"The DAS?" Jack asked and the three teens exchanged worried looks. "Why should I worry about them getting in trouble or even expelled? Hell them getting expelled would make targeting them a lot easier because we wouldn't have to send agents to this hot-as-all hell island, in fact why haven't we tried getting them expelled through the use of our agents?"
"Your right, it would make things easier, except for the fact that the only high-school aged agent we employed was Marie and she's working for the enemy and not even the top make-up artists in the world could make you look like a high-schooler, let alone any of our other agents." Sara responded before shaking her head with an annoyed sigh. "And most importantly, the DAS haven't been dispatched to deal with Tyler, Nicola and Chelsea, they've been dispatched to make sure that you can't escape!"
"WHAT?!" Jack yelled out before turning his attention to the three teens. "So the DAS doesn't even care about these brats being so close to the Abandoned Dorm? Then I'll give them a show before I escape!"
"So you have an escape plan? This I have to see!" Sara responded with a chuckle and Jack rolled his eyes. "You have five minutes' tops before the DAS arrives on the scene, I suggest you end this as quickly as you did the last time you had sex!"
"How did you know I prematurely ejaculated during an orgy?! Err, I mean I have no I have no idea what you're talking about!" Jack responded and the three teens sweat-dropped in response. "How do you know about the DAS coming anyway?"
"I've been monitoring school communications since you arrived at the dorm for such an occasion." Sara responded as Tyler drew his card. "The Obelisk Blue Headmaster's secretary gave the order on his behalf before the duel began, they've only just mobilized."
"Got it." Jack responded with a nod before turning to Tyler. "Don't you have a move to do?"
"As a matter of fact, I do." Tyler responded before looking at his drawn card. "If the DAS are mobilizing to ensure that he can't escape then I had better end this as fast as I can, I just need to draw the right card." Tyler thought as he glanced at his deck before glancing back at his hand. "This isn't the right card but it is a card that can at least ensure that neither of us lose our souls." Tyler thought before playing the card. "I activate a Spell Card, one that'll prevent you from playing the Seal even if I run out of cards to banish from my graveyard."
"You must think I'm incredibly stupid to think that I'm going to fall for that bluff!" Jack scoffed before sweat-dropping. "Sara, please spare me any smart ass comments that your thinking off right now."
"Do you have to ruin my fun?" Sara asked sarcastically and Jack shook his head. "And he's not bluffing either."
"Huh?" Jack asked before turning his attention to Tyler's side of the field, when he saw the Spell Card Tyler had played his eyes widened "PROHIBITION?!"
"It's a fairly old card that I have kept in my side deck ever since the Orichalcos first showed up in Battle City." Tyler explained with a smirk as he folded his arms. "After all, I saw that Chloe couldn't destroy the Seal with her Breaker the Magic Warrior so I figured why not keep it off the field completely? The delicious irony being that one of your own men used this very card against an Obelisk Blue Student after Battle City ended."
"Yeah, Lector Goldsmith, I read the reports." Jack grunted as his eyes narrowed. "That crazy old man could've killed most of New York's population when he combined Convulsion of Nature with the Orichalcos, I'm not surprised that Michael was ordered to execute him win or lose." Jack added before frowning. "We've wasted enough time! Just go ahead and declare the name of the Seal of the Orichalcos already and finish your turn!"
"Very well, I use Prohibition's effect to prevent you from playing the Seal of the Orichalcos." Tyler added as Jack glanced down at his now useless Field Spell. "Now you'll have nowhere to hide when I defeat you!"
"Don't make me laugh! The only monster on your side of the field is Psychic Defender and I have several monsters in my extra deck that can easily crush him." Jack scoffed as he smirked sadistically. "And I have one in my main deck that can easily crush any monster in the game! Hell it might even be stronger than the Egyptian God Cards!" Jack thought as he glanced down at his extra deck. "Are you done?"
"For now, yes." Tyler responded with a nod before pocketing another monster and Jack drew his card.
"That fool, all I need to do is draw another Twin Twister and his strategy goes down the drain!" Jack thought as he looked at Tyler's field. "Hell I could probably block that Trap Card with something like Imperial Iron Wall." Jack thought before looking at his drawn card. "Drat, a dead draw! This is a really bad time for my deck to stop co-operating with me." Jack thought as he looked at his copy of D.D. Archfiend. "Consider yourself the luckiest bastard on the island Tyler, I have to pass my turn." Jack announced and Tyler drew his card.
"Perfect!" Tyler thought as he looked at his drawn card. "This duel has seen the use of XYZ and Synchro Summon Monsters, so why not go for a classic?"
"What are you talking about?" Jack demanded as Tyler played the card. "Miracle Synchro Fusion? But that means…."
"Exactly! I fuse Psychic Defender on the field with Psychic Trance Artist in my hand to fusion summon Ultimate Axion Kicker!" Tyler said as another Psychic Type Monster appeared on the field this one being a small, strange robot in a stereotypical painter's outfit (1/0/0) and the two monsters fused together to form Tyler's powerful Fusion Type Monster (10/2900/1700). "And there's more! When Psychic Trance Artist is sent to the graveyard for the Fusion or Synchro Summon of a Psychic Type Monster I get to draw two cards from my deck." Tyler added he drew his cards. "And now you're in trouble!"
"I don't see how! The point difference between our monsters is merely a hundred points!" Jack scoffed with a smirk on his face. "The most damage you could inflict would be if my monsters were in defense mode and I'm not that stupid!"
"That's debatable to say the least." Tyler responded and Jack growled. "Only thing with Psychic Trance Artist's effect is that if I don't use either of my cards by the end of my turn I have to discard them both and take two thousand points of damage but that's a non-point, I activate a Spell Card Gravity Switch!" Tyler played the card which depicted a red switch in what looked like Brain Research Lab that was marked "Gravity". "This Spell Card requires that Brain Research Lab be in play and as we've already established Psychic Field Shield doubles as Brain Research Lab."
"Yeah, yeah, just get your turn over with so that…." Jack trailed off as his two monsters crouched down into defense position. "What the?!"
"You should really learn to let your opponents finish, as I was saying, for the remainder of the turn all non-Psychic Type Monsters are forced into defense mode and you know what that means." Tyler said before pointing too Ultimate Axion Kicker. "Ultimate Axion Kicker, attack Francis the Wicked!" Tyler commanded and the Psychic Type Monster fired a beam of light at Francis destroying him and bringing Jack's life-points down to 7100. "And don't forget, when Ultimate Axion Kicker destroys a monster and sends it to the graveyard I gain that monster's attack points as life-points." Tyler added as his life-points increased to 9600.
"I didn't forget! Not that it matters!" Jack said with a growl as he sent Francis to the graveyard. "Besides, we both know that you can't attack again and even if you could you can't damage my life-points that much."
"Unfortunately for you Jack, your wrong or did you forget that I just drew two cards?" Tyler asked before playing another card. "I activate Psychic Witch's Blessing! With this Spell Card I can select one of my monsters that has already attacked this turn and let him attack again." Tyler said and Jack's eyes widened as Ultimate Axion Kicker started to glow. "I can only use this once per duel and I have to skip my next Battle Phase but I'll let the results speak for themselves! Ultimate Axion Kicker, attack Victor the Destroyer!" Tyler commanded and the Psychic Type monster launched another attack at Victor destroying him and bringing Jack's life-points down to 6500 whilst bringing Tyler's up to 12, 400. "You're not even half way through your life-points and I've already got a huge lead, this duel is mine!"
"Channeling your old man's arrogance are you?" Jack asked as he glared at Tyler. "You could have a million life-points and I'll still beat you!"
"Do the life-point counters even go that high?" Chelsea wondered out loud and Tyler shook his head.
"My father installed a counter measure in all duel disks to prevent that from happening, for one thing we'd be waiting a year for the duel to end and these things tend to go on long enough as it is." Tyler responded before turning to Jack. "I end my turn and despite what you think I'm not going to tell you to draw your last pathetic card as my dad once said to Yugi Motuh but I will say that you can't have that many options left."
"You'd be surprised!" Jack responded before drawing his card, however when he saw his card he started laughing evilly.
"Sir, we've found them!" A male voice rang out from the outside of the clearing and they looked up to see the DAS accompanied by Martin. "You kids can ease up, you're not who we're after." The commander added as he motioned to Jack.
"Oh good, you're getting an up close and personal look as I bring your school's best duelist to his knees!" Jack commented with a sadistic grin. "The only thing that could make things more perfect is if I had the Orichalcos active on the field but as you can see, I don't."
"I can see that, what I can't see is how you intend to defeat Tyler." Martin said as he folded his arms. "From what I've heard he has the duel well in hand."
"Looks can be deceiving." Jack responded before retrieving Francis and Victor. "To summon this monster I have to banish one Synchro and one XYZ Type Fallen Angel Monster from my graveyard, situational I know but it's worth it!"
"Evac's on the way Jack." Sara said into his earpiece and Jack grinned. "Give them a show that they'll never forget!"
"Oh, you know I will!" Jack responded as he played the card and a dark portal appeared on the ground in front of him. "To get this Fallen Angel I have to reach deep into the depths of hell but it's worth the trouble! Arise Fallen Angel – Lucifer the Damned!" Jack yelled out as the figure emerged from the portal, it was a mountain of a man wearing jet black armor but unlike the other monsters his appearance was a lot more monstrous with completely red skin, horns and fangs, however that was far from the only thing that scared them (infinite/infinite).
"INFINATE ATTACK POINTS?!" Tyler yelled out in fear as he stared at the massive demon and Jack chuckled as the DAS members, Martin, Chelsea and Nicola took steps back in fear
"Oh that's not even the best part!" Jack responded as the demon clenched his fist. "I like to call Lucifer's effect "I win" because that's exactly what happens! You know what? Why don't I demonstrate his effect rather than talk about it?" Jack asked as the demon launched a beam of dark light at Tyler's field destroying Ultimate Axion Kicker, Psychic Field Shield and Prohibition. "Fortunately for you I can't play any other cards on the turn that I use Lucifer's effect but I can still attack, Lucifer, attack that brat's life-points directly!" Jack commanded and the demon pulled back his other first before slamming it into Tyler, the attack sent him flying towards Nicola and Chelsea who were barely able to catch him and whilst his life-points technically hit zero the life-point counter didn't, causing it to malfunction.
"Men, close in on Jack now! I have a student to tend to." Martin instructed the DAS and the they did so whilst he rushed to Tyler's side, by the time he did the two girls had barely gotten the duel disk off of Tyler's arm and removed his cards before it started to spark. "Tyler, speak to me!"
"We have you surrounded! Give up now!" The DAS commander said as his men closed in on Jack, however before they could take another step a helicopter bearing the Santiago Industries logo on its side appeared above him and another agent dropped a ladder next to him.
"I don't think so!" Jack responded before grabbing onto the ladder and climbing up it, the helicopter sped off leaving them in its dust. "If it weren't for that brat's strategies I'd have his soul, oh well, I've left a lasting impression!"
"Err, sir?" The DAS commander asked and Martin turned his attention away from the unconscious Tyler.
"Get a medic here, now!" Martin commanded and the commander nodded.
