"Where is she?" Drew wondered as he leaned back in the speedboat that was set to take them back to HQ, he had been waiting there for about twenty minutes completely unaware of what was going on between Chloe and Marie. "I know she said that she wanted to talk to Chloe about the Eye of Timaeus but just a simple talk shouldn't take this long."
"You got me kid, you did say that your duel against Theresa was on the north side of the island." The speedboat captain shrugged in response and Drew frowned. "Not my fault that that side of the island is the only side without a place for me to drop you kids off."
"I know but you still parked as close to that side of the island as you could." Drew responded as he glanced over his shoulder at the Osiris Red Girl's Dorm which the boat was parked behind. "I suppose we should count our lucky stars that none of the girls in Osiris Red have seen the boat."
"Didn't you say that the island has a pretty strict curfew?" The captain asked and Drew nodded in response. "That might explain it."
"Except for the fact that the curfew begins at 11:30 on the dot, which was half an hour ago, I can only guess that the students were doing homework, dueling elsewhere or spending time with their significant others in that time." Drew added before he spotted Marie approaching the boat, once she was close enough he helped her in and Marie took a seat. "What took you so long?"
"Oh, I don't know, trying to avoid security, the distance from the girls' dorm to the north side of the island, take your pick." Marie grunted in response as she made herself comfortable. "And I did have that chat with Chloe before you ask."
"How did that go?" Drew asked and Marie grinned.
"Well, first she asked me about how we knew the details of the duel between the students and Axel Loather and her dad but once I cleared that up I tried to clear her head of any self-doubt she had left over from her encounter with the Orichalcos." Marie added before motioning to the captain to start the engine.
"And how did you manage to do that?" Drew asked and Marie's grin grew.
"I kissed her on the lips." Marie responded causing Drew to face-fault in response, he nearly fell out of the boat in response but once he recovered from the shock he turned to her. "And before you ask, that's all that happened, I kissed her, she clearly enjoyed it because she kissed me back and then I broke it off, and I must say, she's a great kisser!"
"Okay, was there a point in doing that aside from giving me a boner?" Drew asked and Marie slapped him on the back of the head.
"Too much information." Marie responded with an annoyed look on her face as Drew rubbed his head in pain. "And yes, there was a point, if she had no problem with sharing a kiss with me then she should have no problem with using Timaeus."
"I guess time will tell whether it works." Drew shrugged in response before turning to Marie. "But Theresa hasn't used her Legendary Dragon since she got it either, are you going to kiss her?"
"Drew, she's five foot eight and I'm five foot nothing, the only way I could do that is if I had a step ladder with me or if we were both lying on the ground for whatever reason and, well, if I was kissing another girl whilst on the ground, well, let's just say that it wouldn't be long before we started taking our clothes off." Marie shrugged in response and Drew nodded once he got the idea. "Besides, considering she's a Christian and has been dating Brandon for a while I don't think Theresa will be so happy to receive my kiss as Chloe was."
"Yeah, that reminds me actually." Drew commented as he turned to her. "I thought you had the hots for Marcus? And didn't Chloe just start dating Lance?"
"Yeah, I do and they did, but I've always been honest about the fact that I swing both ways." Marie shrugged her shoulders in response before laughing. "As for Lance, well knowing him he'll probably start doing victory laps around the island if it turns out that Chloe is bi, we both know that it's every teenage boy's dream to have sex with two women at the same time."
"Yeah and you have no idea how long I spent trying to convince Theresa to ask one of her girlfriends if she was interested in joining us for that night when we were dating." Drew responded before sighing. "I got expelled before it could happen, she kept refusing but I could tell that she was starting to consider it before the accident."
"Or maybe you were getting your hopes up." Marie joked earning an annoyed glare from Drew. "Anyway, even if Chloe does find out that she's Bi, I'm not about to break up her relationship with Lance, I mean if he asks me if I want to join them for a three-way I might consider it but beyond that?"
"Considering that you stole two cards from Marcus the last time you were on the island I wouldn't hold my breath if I where you." Drew pointed out and Marie frowned before nodding reluctantly. "But as much as I enjoy the thought of you having sex with other girls, we need to focus on the report we're going to fill in when we get to the mainland."
"Fine, ruin my fun won't you." Marie commented before frowning. "So, is it set in stone that Jared will come to the island next? Because I want to go with him."
"Why? Is it so you can kiss Chloe again?" Drew joked earning an annoyed glare from Marie. "I'll have to confirm it with the bosses but I think it is considering that he asked me to namedrop him to Theresa and any other students who were with her at the time."
"Good, and I'm guessing that we'll have a couple of days before that happens?" Marie asked and Drew nodded. "Plenty of times for the Orichalcos Duelists to return to the island, I'm going to return to the island tomorrow to keep an eye on Chloe and see if she does use Timaeus again."
"And this won't be an excuse to kiss her again?" Drew asked and Marie shook her head. "Or will you cut out any pretense and just have sex with her? Who knows, maybe you'll get her lesbian roommate to join in?"
"Ask that again and I'm throwing you overboard." Marie warned him and Drew quickly shut up. "Look, as much as I enjoyed kissing Chloe I do have practical reasons for wanting to keep an eye on her, she has the most powerful Legendary Dragon in her deck and whilst she did repeat the mistake Yugi made when he held that card I'm hoping that she can overcome it and use Timaeus, as for Chelsea, was as hot as she is she's also seeing someone else and I doubt Beth will appreciate Chelsea cheating on her with another woman, let alone two." Marie said as she leaned back. "But then again, it's not cheating if Lance and Beth never find out! Hell, they might be open to joining in and making it an orgy!"
"Okay, now you're just asking for me to make a perverted comment just so you can see if you can throw me overboard!" Drew protested and Marie laughed in response.
"I'm kidding, last I checked we weren't characters in a porno." Marie responded before looking down at her flat chest. "For one thing, I'd actually have tits." Marie added with a frown before glancing back at the island. "Not to mention the fact that my encounter with Chloe wouldn't have stopped at just one brief kiss." Marie added as the speed-boat sped off.
*the next morning*
Despite Theresa's loss to Drew the night before and how late the it was by the time the three girls returned to their dorm rooms with plenty of time to spare, Chloe had kept quiet about her conversation and subsequent kiss with Marie throughout the night but that did little to quell the questions that had been lingering in her mind since then and neither did her dreams that night.
"Great, I had dream sex with Marie last night." Chloe thought as she started to gather her thoughts after just waking up from a good night's sleep, she glanced around the room before spotting her roommate at her desktop PC. "Morning Chelsea." Chloe greeted her and Chelsea looked up.
"Holy shit, I didn't need to wake you up for one!" Chelsea said with a teasing grin as she turned to Chloe. "Okay, who are you and what have you done with the real Chloe?"
"Very funny." Chloe groaned as she swung her legs over and got out of bed. "What time is it anyway?"
"7:00am on the dot, we've got plenty of time before the duels start." Chelsea responded with a nod and Chloe grinned in response as she walked over to her closet. "Let me know when your decent." Chelsea said before turning around to give her roommate some privacy as she got dressed.
"Okay, I'm decent." Chloe responded as she put her blazer on over her crop top and Chelsea looked up again. "Chelsea, I need to ask you a personal question but before I do I need your guarantee that what we're about to talk about doesn't leave this room." Chloe said as she sat down at the edge of her bed and Chelsea turned around revealing that she had a coke can in her hand.
"Chloe, we've known each other since day one of our time here at Duel Academy." Chelsea reassured her before taking a sip from her coke can. "Hell, I was one of the first people at the academy who you opened up to about your abusive dad, that alone should tell you that you can talk to me about anything!" Chelsea added before frowning. "Wait, is this about the fact that Drew and Marie brought him up last night?"
"No but it does have something to do with Marie." Chloe responded and Chelsea nodded before taking a big gulp of her drink apparently intending to finish it off. "I may as well come out and say it, I think I might be bi." Chloe added as soon as she said that Chelsea spat out the contents of her can leaving a large stain on the floor.
"Oh, how glad I am that I wasn't facing my laptop when you said that." Chelsea said half-jokingly before grinning. "Okay, that wasn't something I expected to hear this early but congrats! All though I don't see what this has to do with Marie…..." Chelsea trailed off before it hit her. "You and Marie made out in that clearing last night, didn't you?"
"NO! I mean, yes and no." Chloe responded as she folded her arms. "Okay, you know that I stayed behind in the clearing last night and didn't really say why, right? Well, it was because Marie wanted to talk to me about Timaeus and my lack of usage of him since I got him." Chloe explained before sighing. "For some reason, Marie got close to me, as in within my personal space, and whispered that I shouldn't let my self-doubt stop me from destroying the Orichalcos but the way she was leaning in I thought she was going to start kissing my neck."
"You mean like when you're on the bottom end of the Missionary Position?" Chelsea asked and Chloe nodded in response.
"Yeah but some reason I didn't push her away and seconds after she pulled back she kissed me on the lips." Chloe responded and Chelsea's eyebrows raised when she heard that. "It wasn't a passionate kiss like the one I gave to Lance after we made our relationship official, it didn't last that long either but for whatever reason rather than push her away I returned the kiss, if Marie hadn't broken it off I'm pretty sure that my arms would've ended up around her waist and hers around my neck, and the kissing would've gotten a lot more passionate."
"That's if she could even reach up that high considering that she's shorter than you." Chelsea joked and Chloe laughed a little in response. "Seriously though, so she came onto you and you enjoyed it, doesn't necessarily mean that your bi, I mean what college girl hasn't experimented with other girls?"
"You technically because if anything the relationships you had with boys where experiments." Chloe pointed out and Chelsea laughed in response. "Besides, if it was just that we wouldn't be having this conversation right now but when I went to sleep last night I dreamed that I was back in the clearing with Marie, except the kissing didn't stop and then we started taking our clothes off."
"I get it, you had dream sex with her." Chelsea responded with a nod of understanding as she folded her arms. "Okay, three questions, are your feelings for Marie stronger than your feelings for Lance?"
"No, definitely not." Chloe responded as she shook her head. "Don't get me wrong, she's a beautiful girl but even if I was ready to dump Lance for her she's a former Orichalcos Duelist with a history of theft, I wouldn't want to date her and I don't know how my dad would feel about me having feelings for other girls, let alone an Orichalcos Duelist."
"Okay, that's fair enough, and I wouldn't worry about your dad, if his reaction to first meeting me was any indication he probably doesn't have a problem with gay people and definitely wouldn't have a problem with his daughter being bi." Chelsea reassured her and Chloe grinned in response. "Second question, are you planning to tell Lance?"
"I'm not sure to be honest." Chloe responded with a frown as she leaned forward. "I only just started dating him, I'm not sure how he'd take it."
"Chloe, remember what I said about how it's every straight boy's dream to have a threesome with two girls?" Chelsea asked her and Chloe nodded in response. "If you do tell him I'm sure that the first thing he's going to do is do at least three victory laps around the island and I'm only saying three because I doubt he'd miss a class because of that lap, on a weekend? It might go on for even longer." Chelsea added before grinning. "As for my third question, you wouldn't happen to have footage of that kiss, right?"
"Yeah, because I clearly had enough time to set up camera equipment whilst Drew and Theresa's duel was going on." Chloe responded sarcastically before shaking her head. "As for my phone, I had turned it off after I used the Calculator App and even if I left it on it was dangerously low on battery and taking a video of the kiss would've drained the battery, even if it did last just a few seconds I wasn't about to risk it dying on me and besides, even if my battery was fully charged I wasn't expecting her to kiss me."
"Yeah, I can understand that." Chelsea responded with a disappointed look on her face. "All though if it was me I would've set up the video the moment she leaned in like you described because that would've alerted me to what she was up too."
"That's ignoring the fact that she's shorter than me and your four inches taller than me, she had to stand on her toes just so she could reach up." Chloe responded before pausing. "That might've been to make leaning in to whisper in my ear easier now that I think about it, anyway I haven't even brought up why she kissed me in the first place."
"What do you mean?" Chelsea asked and Chloe sighed.
"After she ended the kiss she said that I shouldn't have a problem using Timaeus now since I had no problem accepting a kiss from another girl in public." Chloe explained and Chelsea nodded in understanding. "She didn't go in for another kiss before you ask, after she broke the kiss off she walked off presumably in the direction of what they had used to get to the island in the first place and left me bewildered, hell I couldn't even say anything for a few moments."
"Yeah, kissing another girl for the first time has that effect on you." Chelsea responded with a grin and Chloe blushed a bit. "Okay, I know I said that I only had three questions but what you just told me made me think of a fourth, if you weren't caught by surprise by Marie's kiss would you have asked her if you could keep kissing her?"
"Basically, you're wondering if I would've asked to have sex with her if I could form the words?" Chloe asked and Chelsea nodded in response. "I don't know, you know as well as I do how late it was by the time Theresa finished her duel with Drew and it was unusually cold for the island last night, I don't think I would've liked the idea of getting naked out in the cold, especially if a guard walked in on us."
"Okay but let's say that it was as hot as it usually is last night and Theresa's duel had finished about an hour earlier, would you have asked her in those conditions?" Chelsea asked and Chloe gave her a funny look. "Yes, I know that we're now up to five questions but I do have a point."
"Under those conditions? Maybe, she was a good kisser." Chloe admitted before sighing. "But I don't think Lance would've appreciated having the chance to take my virginity taken from him by a former Orichalcos Duelist, let alone another woman." Chloe added before seeing the look on Chelsea's face. "And to stop you from taking it up to six questions, if Lance had taken my virginity already then yeah, I guess I would've considered it."
"Yeah, I thought so." Chelsea commented and Chloe gave her a confused look. "Back when I figured out I was gay I was feeling the same way, only difference was that I had a one night stand with another girl at a party the night I figured it out and the fact that you might be bi, I'm not going to say anything for certain just encase it ends up being a one-time thing."
"The kiss or the dream sex?" Chloe asked before shaking her head. "And I never thought I'd say that out loud."
"True, then again I feel the same way about dream duels." Chelsea responded with a laugh before sighing. "As for your question, I'm just going to say both."
"Well, thanks for the encouraging words anyway, just remember what I asked you about this conversation not leaving this room." Chloe responded and Chelsea nodded. "I mean, if I do end up developing feelings for girls as well as boys I want Lance to hear it from me first, once he's finished his victory lap maybe we can talk about how it'd impact our relationship."
"Knowing Lance I think I can guess exactly what his first suggestion will be." Chelsea responded getting a laugh out of Chloe. "All though honestly I'm disappointed that you didn't figure this out when I was still single, you would've given Beth some major competition for my affection, that's for certain."
"I'm not even going to comment on that." Chloe responded as she shook her head. "And besides, even if we did hook up I was sent off to Battle City within weeks off my admittance into Osiris Red and you know what they say about long distance relationships."
"Yeah, they never work, hell I had to end my relationship with my first girlfriend for that reason." Chelsea responded and Chloe gave her a curious look. "Our relationship had been going strong until my parents enrolled me here and when I asked her if she would be joining me she told me that her parents only had enough money to send her to North Academy, we had a long talk and agreed to end it mutually." Chelsea added before letting out a sad sigh. "It didn't stop me from crying myself to sleep that night."
"I can only imagine." Chloe responded with a sympathetic look on her face. "Do you keep in contact with her?"
"Yeah, we e-mail each other every now and again, apparently, she's moved on as well as she's started to date a boy at the academy." Chelsea responded before noticing the look on her face. "She's bi, hell if I can be honest she was the girl I had the one night stand with the night I realized I was gay and even then we had a finding out period where whenever we met up at a party we'd invite at least one guy up with us, as you can probably imagine the other guys at the party hated whoever we invited up but that stopped when I realized that I preferred girls to boys."
"Yeah, well, considering that there's none of that confusion with me I doubt I'll be doing the same." Chloe responded as she shook her head. "As much as Lance would enjoy that, speaking of Lance when are the duels starting? It feels like we've been talking for a while." Chloe added and Chelsea walked over to her desktop to check the time.
"You were right, we've been talking about this for an hour or so and the duels are starting in half an hour." Chelsea commented before grinning. "Want to head over early? We can get some good seats and we can pretty much ensure that we're by the stairs to the main arena in time for the second match especially since we're competing against Thomas and Rajin, funny how that, aside from the first round, we've consistently been competing in opening match of each round."
"It's probably just a coincidence, then again we were set to compete in the first match of the tournament until our duel got delayed until day three, come to think of it they never confirmed whether or not the delay was because of our recent Orichalcos Duels." Chloe commented and Chelsea shook her head.
"Your right, they didn't but I think it's accepted fact by this point." Chelsea responded with a frown as she turned to Chloe. "So, the dream sex you had with Marie, you going to tell me what positions you tried?"
"You really expect me to answer that?!" Chloe responded with a laugh before shaking her head. "Even if I could remember the details, I'm a virgin remember? I don't know the names of the sex positions like the back of my hand!"
"All I'm saying is that Google and PornHub can help you a lot in that department." Chelsea responded causing Chloe to blush like a madwoman before she stood up ready to head over to the duel arena. "But before we head over, thanks, thanks for hearing me out about my potential bi-sexuality."
"Hey, it's like I said, if you have an issue I'm all ears." Chelsea responded before walking up to her roommate. "That said, I can tell you from personal experience that coming out to your parents is never easy, hell it was harder for me because I grew up in a Christian Household and well, if you are bi you might want to take the advice I'm about to give you." Chelsea added and Chloe nodded. "First off, wait until they aren't preoccupied with something, I realize that might be difficult since your dad runs a card shop but interrupting something important for your coming out? Yeah that's generally a great way to set a foul mood before the conversation has even began."
"Yeah, that I can understand." Chloe nodded in response and Chelsea grinned.
"Granted that advice really only works if you're doing it face to face, Beth came out to her parents over via a Skype chat but in her defense she had gone to Duel Academy without coming out of the closet to her parents, I managed to talk her into it at the same time as asking her if she wanted to be my girlfriend and yeah, by that point we knew that we were both gay if you're wondering." Chelsea explained and Chloe grinned. "I pretty much convinced her by pointing out how shocking it would be if they got an invitation to our wedding and finding out that your daughter is not only getting married but she's also getting married to another woman."
"Yeah, I can see your point there." Chloe nodded in understanding. "How did that go?"
"They were shocked as you can imagine but they came around to the idea and told Beth that they still loved her no matter what her sexual preference was, all though it helped that they were introduced to me during the last visitor day and Beth told them that I was a friend of hers over for a study session, what they didn't realize that they had nearly walked in on us on the act." Chelsea explained and Chloe nodded in response. "That leads me to my next point, don't open the conversation by coming out, I know you did that to me earlier but since the whole school knows that I'm gay it's not that big a deal."
"Yeah and then there's the fact that it would just make the rest of the conversation awkward as all hell." Chloe nodded in agreement and Chelsea grinned again.
"Exactly, okay so my last piece of advice will send pessimistic but trust me, you'll need it if you are bi." Chelsea added as she folded her arms. "Be prepared for the worst possible outcome going into the conversation, I cannot even begin to count the number of gay/bi-sexual/trans people that I chat with in a LBGTQ group on Facebook who have been kicked out of their homes by their parents after they came out, hell I'm practically the envy of the group because I'm the only gay Christian person in the group whose parents didn't kick out after I came out of the closet."
"It's like you said, my parents wouldn't kick me out after going through all the trouble of adopting me in the first place but I can see your point." Chloe responded with a nod and Chelsea grinned. "Well if that is everything, let's get going."
"Just one last question." Chelsea said before grinning broadly. "So, how good was Marie at sex?" Chelsea asked and Chloe said nothing, instead giving her roommate a look that just screamed "No, Just No". "Sounds like a plan to me." Chelsea added before the two girls grabbed their duel disks and walked out of their dorm room.
*meanwhile*
Whilst most of the students at the academy where pouring into the main arena for the final match of the fourth round one student wasn't, in fact she was hanging around the north side of the island trying to avoid human contact.
"Man, this bites." Caitlin Acosta, who until yesterday was the last Osiris Red student left in the tournament until her team was eliminated by Cameron and Jessica, groaned as she walked through the woods the made up most of the north side of the island. "I was the last remaining Osiris Red student in the tournament and I was hoping that destroy the stigma associated with my dorm by winning it, then Thomas arranged it so that me and Amelia would face Cameron and Jessica and it was all downhill from there." Caitlin added with an annoyed sigh as she shook her head. "I almost wish that Chloe and Chelsea weren't promoted to Ra Yellow, they would've been my dorm's last hope otherwise but now they fly the flag for Ra Yellow…." Caitlin's train of thought was interrupted when she heard a twig snap in a nearby clearing and frowned. "Okay, since the duels are about to start that can't be another student, can it?" Caitlin thought before she peered into the clearing.
"Jack, I made it to the island." A hooded figure said into the earpiece completely unaware that Caitlin had spotted her as she paced around the clearing ignoring the remains of the twig that she had just stepped on. "Let me get this straight, you want me to target either the Troys, Amelia Gray or Chloe Richardson?"
"I told you before, Victor's declared open season on all Duel Academy students, I merely suggested those names because they are the biggest threats we face right now." Jack responded and the figure nodded.
"Understood Jack, but I take it that Chloe's Legendary Dragon makes her a priority target?" The figure asked and it was at that moment that Caitlin noticed her duel disk.
"That's an Orichalcos Duel Disk!" Caitlin realized as her eyes widened. "I'd better go alert security before…..." Caitlin trailed off before getting an idea. "No, I may no longer be in the tournament but I'm a damn good duelist, they've already got me pegged for promotion the next time the promotion duels roll around." Caitlin thought as she grinned. "And if I can take her out before anyone gets hurt I'll be a hero like in my favorite comic books! Maybe then people will take Osiris Red seriously!"
"Technically yeah but let's be honest, after Seamus's little operation the dragon no longer trusts her." Jack responded and the figure nodded. "That's all for now and try not to fuck this up, we're low on agents as it is!"
"Understood." The figure responded before hanging up.
"Hey you!" Caitlin called out as she stepped into the clearing with a confident look on her face. "I challenge you to a duel!"
*a bit later*
By the time, Chloe and Chelsea arrived at the arena it had become obvious that they weren't the only students with that idea in mind as several other students where occupying seats as well all though most of them where on their IPhones as the duels wouldn't start for a while yet, despite that Chloe and Chelsea quickly found a pair of seats near the stairwell that would take them to the main arena and sat down.
"Seems like every other student had the same idea." Chloe commented as she rested her hand on her chin. "At least we haven't seen the three stooges yet."
"Yeah well, when they do inevitably show up they'll likely sit on the other side of the arena just to avoid us so we shouldn't worry about them." Chelsea commented before glancing around to make sure that no one was listening in. "So, you going to tell Lance about your little encounter with Marie last night?"
"Not right away, I'd rather confirm in my mind that I'm bi." Chloe responded once she had double checked that no one was listening in. "And even then, I'd rather not tell him in a place that'll soon be crowded by other students, I'd rather tell him in private."
"Fair enough and don't worry, I'm dropping that conversation now." Chelsea commented and Chloe grinned in response, a few more minutes passed before another student approached them but it wasn't a student that they were expecting. "Amelia?"
"Sorry to trouble you guys." Amelia apologized with a worried look on her face. "But have you seen Caitlin this morning? We were meant to meet up outside the duel arena for today's duels but she never showed up."
"I haven't seen her all morning, sorry." Chloe apologized and Amelia frowned in response. "Maybe she's avoiding the duels because of her disappointment regarding your loss yesterday?"
"No, we made plans to attend the duels yesterday barely a few minutes after our loss." Amelia responded as she shook her head. "She was disappointed, granted, but she told me that she was going to attend the duels regardless and I'm starting to get worried, the only reason I haven't gone to Martin with it is because of how early it is."
"Right, she might've just slept in or something." Chelsea nodded in understanding before she frowned. "How about this, if she doesn't show up by the end of the second duel we'll get the others together and go look for her, I hate to say it but with the Orichalcos Duelists being as big a threat as ever this doesn't bode well for her."
"Yeah, that's what I'm afraid off, and thanks." Amelia responded with a frown before walking off to find a seat.
"What do you think? You think Caitlin could've been targeted?" Chloe asked Chelsea who shrugged her shoulders in response.
"Your guess is as good as mine, I talked to Caitlin a couple of times, mostly whilst you guys where in Battle City, and she often said that she wanted to be a superhero like in her comic books." Chelsea explained before pausing for a moment. "Huh, I guess that explains why she went with the Elemental Heroes as her deck of choice, anyway it's possible that she might have stumbled upon an Orichalcos Duelist and decided to challenge them because of that desire." Chelsea said before frowning. "And that wouldn't be good."
"Yeah, if she wins the duel then fair enough, especially if she manages to take out the duelist before they can go after anyone else." Chloe nodded in response as more students started to pour into the arena though their friends weren't among them. "If she loses the duel then we'll have four comatose students in the infirmary thanks to those bastards."
"Yeah and the infirmary doesn't have many beds, it won't be long before they run out of space if things keep going the way they have." Chelsea nodded with a frown on her face before sighing. "I remember when Nathan's soul was trapped and half of the student population got pulled out of the academy for a few weeks, that was just one student, why haven't they done the same now?"
"Good question, the only thing I can think off is this, either they've been keeping the attacks on the island as quiet as they can because from what I've heard there were a few parents who were threatening to sue the school after Nathan's soul got trapped." Chloe remembered and Chelsea leaned back in her chair with her arms crossed. "If I remember correctly the lawsuits got settled out of court shortly before I left for Battle City with the others."
"They were dropped, I should know, my folks where among the parents who sued." Chelsea responded as she glanced up at her roommate. "Partly because there weren't any other attacks on the students following Nathan's duel against Michael but also because the students who got pulled out, including me, where adamant that we'd be able to handle ourselves so we got sent back to the island the day after you departed for Battle City." Chelsea explained before frowning. "What was the other theory you had?"
"Well, as much as I don't like the idea, my other theory is that the school is paying off the parents of the comatose students to keep quiet, from what I remember Nathan's attack and the subsequent lawsuits where PR disasters for the school and, well, it's not hard to imagine why Kaibacorp would want to avoid a repeat of that." Chloe responded and Chelsea frowned in response. "I mean, let's face it, most of the targeted students where from low income families and I don't think I need to point out how much a payout from Kaibacorp would help them."
"I don't like that idea either but you do have a point there." Chelsea nodded in reluctant agreement before noticing a familiar face taking a seat behind them. "Might want to save any other anti-Kaibacorp theories until after the duels." Chelsea whispered to Chloe who glanced up and saw Miranda behind them though the Obelisk Blue Student hadn't noticed them at the time. "Call me crazy but I don't think Miranda will appreciate you badmouthing her dad's company."
"Yeah, great point." Chloe responded with a wince, fortunately for the two girls their other friends, aside from Lance, quickly arrived allowing them to change the subject. "Hey, have any of you seen Caitlin Acosta this morning?"
"Haven't seen her since yesterday and you're the second person to ask us that Chloe." Theresa responded with a frown before motioning to Amelia. "I will admit, her absence has me concerned but right now I want to focus on today's duels."
"Yeah and I will admit that I'm hoping that it'll be me and Chelsea vs. Lance's team in the semi-finals." Chloe admitted before frowning. "And even then, it won't be easy, I'm sure Lance's team can handle Louella and Latoya but Cameron and Jessica? That's a different story entirely."
"Yeah, especially with how quickly Jessica ended the duel between them and Amelia and Caitlin." Brandon nodded in agreement before frowning. "Even so, Lance's deck was like Jessica's for a long time, they should be fine." Brandon added as the two teams approached the podium, however they weren't the only ones in attendance with a problem with the Orichalcos Duelists.
"Marie, are you sure about this?" Jared asked as he watched his female companion lean over the railing, the two Redemption Seekers where high up in the main arena away from any prying eyes, at least in theory, so that they could keep an eye on things. "Or do I need to remind you that security's still on the lookout for you after you stole those cards from Marcus."
"Yeah and they never look up here, this place is just a place for the maintenance staff for when they need a quick route to the maintenance room." Marie responded as she motioned towards the door with her head. "If we do get any company it'll probably be just the janitor, besides from up here we can a bird's eye view of the action."
"And you get a chance to check out your latest girl crush." Jared commented and indeed the two duelists where right above where Chloe was seated. "Honestly, next time you kiss her can you at least take pictures?"
"Not even answering that, besides as hot as Chloe is I have my eyes on one person as far as my sex life is concerned." Marie said as she pointed to Marcus. "Not that I'd say no to another chance to kiss Chloe, or even have sex with her."
"Great, she only has eyes for a guy who outweighs her by a few hundred pounds and another girl who's already taken whilst completely ignoring me, at least I can't argue that I don't deserve to be in the friendzone." Jared thought as he leaned on the railing. "I just hope that Chloe can forgive me for nearly playing a part in the destruction of her original deck."
"Welcome to day fourteen of the Tag Team Tournament! The finals are approaching fast but will still have a few more duels to get through!" Martin announced and the crowd cheered. "And kicking things off is a match between what many consider to be the wildcard team of the tournament in Ra Yellow's Louella Schneider and Latoya Conley and Obelisk Blue's Lance Alvers and Evan Grant!"
"So, tell me." Lance commented as the four duelists activated their duel disks. "How does it feel to be the only team in the tournament to lose twice?"
"Getting ahead of yourself, aren't you?" Latoya asked with a frown as they made their opening draws. "Besides, have you forgotten about the Battle Royal already?"
"We're not counting that since it was a single elimination Battle Royal between representatives of the tag teams." Evan responded with a frown. "And I'd rather not think of how confusing it would be if all of us competed in that Battle Royal."
"Well for one thing I think we'd still be competing in that Battle Royal if that was the case." Louella pointed out before glancing up at the pod. "So, Martin, are you going to announce the order or what?"
"I was getting to that." Martin responded before clearing his throat. "Latoya will open the duel followed by Lance, then Louella and finally Evan!" Martin added before the four duelists moved into position. "Begin!"
"I start my turn by activating an old favorite, Allure of Darkness!" Latoya played the card before drawing three cards and pocketing one of her monsters. "Next, I set two cards facedown and I summon Armageddon Knight in attack mode!" Latoya played the card and the dark-haired warrior appeared on the field (4/1400/1200). "Considering how often it was used during the Battle Royal you should know what this card does by now."
"Yeah, since you summoned him you can send one Dark-Type Monster from your deck to the graveyard." Lance responded with a nod as Latoya resolved the effect. "And since that could be something like Necro Guardna she could use the knight to set up a Synchro Summon which means that nasty Synchro Monster she used against Theresa and Brandon if she can get enough monsters on the field."
"That's all for my turn." Latoya announced and Lance drew his card.
"I set one card facedown and I summon Great Angus!" Lance played the and the wild boar appeared on the field ready for battle (4/1800/400). "He may just be a vanilla fire type monster but he's still stronger than Armageddon Knight, in fact in no time at all your knight will be geddon out of here!"
"Lance, that is the worst pun I have ever heard in my entire life." Louella responded as a large sweat-drop rolled down her head. "It's a good thing that this duel isn't being broadcast globally because I'm pretty sure that you'd be responsible for the death of comedy otherwise."
"Actually, I'd argue that every single movie Adam Sandler has released over the past few years would be more responsible for the death of comedy than my one bad pun." Lance responded and Louella put her finger up to counter his point but stopped.
"Yeah, I can't argue with that." Louella admitted with a sigh. "And this is coming from someone who likes Adam Sandler's earlier movies, anyway are you done?"
"Yeah, I'm done." Lance responded and Louella drew her card.
"I'm willing to bet good money that his facedown card is Dormant Volcano or something similar, if my guess is correct then I'm not really in a hurry to destroy that card knowing it's effect." Louella thought before playing a card. "I activate Foolish Burial!" Louella announced before inputting commands into her duel disk, once the card popped out of the slot she grabbed it and sent it to the graveyard. "But my monster won't be staying in the graveyard for long!"
"Yeah and I think I can guess why." Lance commented as Louella's deck auto-shuffled and she played a card.
"Well if your guess was Blazewing Butterfly, your right!" Louella responded as the fiery butterfly appeared on the field (4/1500/1500). "Obviously, I can't activate his Gemini Mode until my next turn so I set two cards facedown and end my turn." Louella set the two cards down and once they appeared on the field Evan drew his card.
"Their plans couldn't be more obvious, Latoya may as well have big neon signs above their heads saying "our facedown cards are there to protect our monsters so we can use their effects"." Evan thought with a frown as he looked over his hand. "And quite frankly they should consider themselves lucky that Heavy Storm still hasn't come off the banlist after all this time." Evan thought before picking up a card. "I activate a Spell Card, Tome of Arcane Magic!" Evan announced as he played the continuous Spell Card.
"Okay, are you going to explain what it does?" Latoya asked as she eyed the spell card.
"In due time, but first I set a monster in defense mode and end my turn." Evan announced as he set the monster on the field and Latoya drew her card.
"I think it's safe to say that Evan's Spell Card is one that supports Spellcasters, how I don't know." Latoya thought before glancing at her hand. "Armageddon Knight, attack Evan's facedown monster!" Latoya commanded and the knight charged towards the facedown monster, revealed to be Apprentice Magician (2/400/800) which was quickly destroyed. "What? Not a peep from your Spell Card?"
"Funny you should mention that." Evan responded as his Spell Card glowed and he sent his monster to the graveyard. "Whenever a Spellcaster type monster on my side of the field is destroyed by battle Tome of Arcane Magic gets a counter."
"So, it's like Arcane Barrier in other words?" Latoya asked as Evan inputted commands into his duel disk and set the monster he retrieved.
"Yes and no, unlike Arcane Barrier Tome of Arcane Magic can only gain power whenever a monster is destroyed." Evan responded as his deck auto-shuffled. "So yes, I can't use Apprentice Magician's Flip-Effect to give it more counters."
"With a restriction like that it's safe to say that it's got a powerful effect." Latoya thought before picking up the monster she had drawn. "I set a monster in defense mode and end my turn." Latoya announced and Lance drew his card.
"I start my turn by activating Dark World Dealings, now we all draw and discard one card." Lance announced as he played the card he had just drawn and the four duelists drew a card before discarding another. "And for a follow up I remove the monster I just discarded to my graveyard from play to Special Summon an old favorite of mine, Inferno!" Lance played the card and the small flame with an evil looking face appeared on the field (4/1100/1900).
"Same old, same old." Latoya responded with a yawn. "Seriously, we've seen you use those cards thousands of time since you enrolled here Lance, when are you going to show us something different?"
"Funny you should ask! First I activate my Trap Card Kickfire!" Lance announced as his trap card flipped up. "Well, you wanted something new and now I'm about to show it to you! I summon Bonfire Colossus!" Lance played the card and a massive flame erupted out of the ground engulfing Great Angus and Inferno in the process, after a few seconds the flame started to take shape eventually molding into the shape of a giant humanoid seemingly made of flame (8/2600/2200).
"Wait, what the hell?! How did you summon a Level Eight Monster with no tributes?" Latoya asked as her eyes narrowed. "I'd almost say that you used your two monsters is tribute for that thing except you never said that!"
"Your right, I didn't because I didn't Special Summon the big guy." Lance responded with a grin. "You see, if I control at least one FIRE type monster I can Special Summon him from my hand, only downside is that when he's Special Summoned he destroys two of my Fire Type Monsters."
"What's the point? You would've lost them anyway just by using them in a Tribute Summon." Louella pointed out before it hit her. "Unless…."
"That's right, it's all in the phrasing because this is when Kickfire's effect kicks in!" Lance responded before seeing the look on the other duelists' faces. "Okay, I promise, no more puns! Besides, things are about to get hot and sticky in here as I get ready to use my big monster on you lovely ladies…..." Lance trailed off before he realized, too late, what he was saying which wasn't helped by the fact that Latoya and Louella where barely able to contain their laughter. "Moments after I mention the word "phrasing" and I go and say a sentence filled to the brim with sexual innuendo, you could've stopped me at any time you know."
"I don't know about Louella but I wanted to see how far you got before you stopped yourself." Latoya admitted with a big grin on her face. "Just be glad you didn't mention that weird porn vid you brought up during the Battle Royal."
"And as for me, I was waiting for someone to yell out "PHRASING" or some variant of an Archer quote." Louella admitted with a laugh. "All though, Chloe is probably either a: trying not to laugh her ass off or b: hiding her embarrassment with a double facepalm, how she's still your girlfriend after you mentioned that porn vid I'll never know."
"I'm never going to live that down, aren't I? Well at least it's not as bad as that one time I lost my deck in my massive porn collection…." Lance trailed off as he realized what he just said. "Moving on! As I was about to explain Kickfire's effect…..."
"What was that about a porn collection?" Louella asked with a massive grin on her face and Lance ran a hand down his face. "Oh, this just keeps getting juicier by the minute!"
"Lance, just a little advice from a girl who's been in a few relationships herself." Latoya commented as she tried not to laugh. "Just finish your move before you say something that makes Chloe regret ever agreeing to date you."
"And that's if we're not already passed that point." Lance nodded in agreement before sighing. "Then again by this point I've already dug a hole so deep that I'll reach the center of the earth if I say anything else! Anyway, as I was saying, whenever a monster of mine is destroyed by a card effect Kickfire gets a counter, now the counters will come into play later but for now you have Bonfire Colossus to worry about! Tell me, how do you like your Armageddon Knights, medium rare or well done?" Lance asked as his monster pulled back a fist…...
"And I negate your attack by removing Necro Guardna from play!" Latoya responded as she retrieved the monster from her graveyard and the ghostly image appeared long enough to stop the attack. "And for the record, I'd prefer my knights not roasted alive!"
"Pity because that will happen eventually!" Lance responded before looking over his hand. "I set one card facedown and end my turn!" Lance announced as he set the card and Louella drew her card.
"Oh, my god, I can't believe he just said that." Chloe said as she ran a hand down her face and Chelsea did her best to stop herself from falling out of the chair because of her laughter. "Okay, quick question, how many people here knew about Lance's porn stash!?" Chloe asked and Andreas, Marcus and Nicola raised their hands.
"He asked me and Andreas to help move some of his stuff into his new Dorm Room on Sunday, all he said was that the staff refused to touch it." Marcus responded with a frown. "We didn't find out until after we agreed to help him that the reason why was because it was his porn stash."
"And the only reason we agreed to still help him was because he'd probably break his back trying to transport all that stuff over." Andreas added before motioning to Nicola. "As for Nicola, she stumbled upon the stash when she came over to congratulate us on our promotions, he tried to pass them off as Duel Monsters magazines but she wasn't buying it."
"I don't know what's sadder, the fact that he has a porn stash in the computer age or that he thought that that would actually work as a cover story." Brandon responded as he ran a hand down his face and Nicola laughed.
"To be fair I did play along, mostly because I found it as funny as Chelsea finds this." Nicola commented once Chelsea recovered. "Just be glad he stopped himself from embarrassing himself further."
"Unless he went into detail about what kind of porn he's into then I don't think he could've embarrassed himself more." Chelsea responded with a grin before the other duelists returned their attention to the duel, once she was sure that no one was paying attention Chelsea leaned over and whispered in Chloe's ear. "That's your opening."
"Huh?" Chloe whispered back and Chelsea grinned.
"Tell him that you want to talk about the incident during this duel and use it as an opportunity to tell him about your little meeting with Marie." Chelsea responded and Chloe frowned. "Chloe, trust me, the only way he'd be any happier after you tell him that is if you mention that you managed to get another girl to agree to a threesome between her, you and Lance!"
"We'll see." Chloe said reluctantly and Chelsea grinned.
"You know, if my Battle City Deck wasn't shit, I'd be wondering how that guy got to the Semi-Finals over me." Jared admitted as he ran a hand down his face and Marie tried not to laugh. "Seriously, this guy's in Obelisk Blue?!"
"Lance may be a goofball at times, well, okay, most of the time, but his talents as a duelist are undeniable." Marie said as she held back her laughter. "Besides, we both know how he got into the Semi-Finals."
"Yeah, yeah, I know but I'm just saying." Jared responded before grinning. "And I'm surprised that you aren't wondering the same thing considering how good your deck was at the time."
"My old deck relied on the Orichalcos, it was not good." Marie responded with a frown. "That's the main reason why I wanted to change my deck, though the fact that I fed my copy of the Seal into a woodchopper the day I was released from jail helps."
"I start my turn by using up my Normal Summon to activate the Gemini Mode of Blazewing Butterfly!" Louella announced as her monster started glowing. "And now I activate his effect, I send him to the graveyard so I can Special Summon another Gemini Monster from my graveyard and you know what? I have to thank you Lance because without you this combo wouldn't have been possible."
"What do you mean?" Lance asked and Louella grinned.
"Dark World Dealings might have allowed you to summon that eyesore but it also forced me and Latoya to discard a card, or in my case a monster." Louella explained before retrieving a monster from her graveyard. "But first things first, I use Blazewing Butterfly's effect to Special Summon the monster I sent to the graveyard with Foolish Burial last turn, Gigaplant!" Louella played the card and the monstrous Venus fly trap like monster appeared on the field (6/2400/1200). "And since I summoned Gigaplant using Blazewing Butterfly's effect he was summoned in his Gemini mode meaning that I get to use his effect as well!"
"How can you tell that that thing has a gender? It's a plant!" Lance pointed out and Louella sweat-dropped.
"Never thought about that, just an old habit of mine." Louella responded with a shrug before retrieving a monster from her graveyard. "Back on topic, I activate Gigaplant's effect which allows me to Special Summon One Plant/Insect monster from my graveyard and what do you know? I just sent an Insect Type Monster there!" Louella played the card and sure enough Blazewing Butterfly appeared on the field again.
"Yes, but unlike Blazewing Butterfly Gigaplant isn't a Gemini support monster so he isn't summoned in his Gemini mode." Evan pointed out and Louella grinned. "So, if your plan was to summon the card that you discarded via the effect of Dark World Dealings then there is a major flaw in it!"
"True but I have a way around that problem in the form of this Spell Card!" Louella played the card and Evan's eyes narrowed when he saw it. "Supervise! I equip this card to Blazewing Butterfly which in turn activates his Gemini Mode but I'm not done yet!" Louella said as she played a card. "First I activate Double Summon which allows me to have an extra normal summon this turn which I use to bring out Dark Valkyria!" Louella played the card and the dark witch appeared on the field (4/1800/1050). "But she isn't staying around! I activate White Elephant's Gift which sends her to the graveyard in exchange for two draws!" Louella added before drawing her cards as soon as her monster vanished.
"I get the feeling that I know exactly why you wasted Double Summon like that." Lance commented and Louella grinned.
"Well, I wouldn't say that I wasted it, I activate Blazewing Butterfly's effect again!" Louella announced as the butterfly disappeared from the field. "And this time around, I'm using him to summon Tuned Magician!" Louella announced as she played the card and the magician in multi-colored robes appeared on the field (4/1800/1600). "Boy, am I glad that Martin got rid of the time limit after round two, otherwise we'd have lost the duel by now."
"Yes, and since you summoned Tuned Magician through Blazewing Butterfly's effect his Gemini Mode is active meaning that he's now a Tuner Monster." Evan pointed out and Louella grinned broadly. "And since you just sent Supervise to the graveyard you also get to summon one Normal Type Monster!"
"Exactly! And since Gemini Monsters are considered Normal Type Monsters whilst they're in the graveyard that means I can bring back Dark Valkyria!" Louella announced as the witch returned to the field. "But I wouldn't get too attached to my new monsters if I where you because I think it's time that Tuned Magician gave Dark Valkyria a tune-up!" Louella announced as the two monsters leapt into the air for the Synchro Summon…...
"And I'm beginning to regret my decision to play Dark World Dealings." Lance commented with a gulp as the bright flash of light engulfed the field for a second before it faded to reveal Black Brutdrago in all its menacing might (8/3000/2600).
"Well I don't know about Evan but we wouldn't mind you helping us win Lance." Louella responded before sending a card to the graveyard. "I activate Black Brutdrago's effect! By sending one Gemini Monster to from my hand to my graveyard I can destroy one Spell/Trap card my opponent controls and since I really don't want to know what Tome of Arcane Magic does that card's my target!" Louella announced as the dragon started to prepare its attack.
"I'm afraid that your desire to see my Spell Card destroyed must wait! From my hand, I activate Effect Veiler and I use her effect to negate Black Brutdrago's effect!" Evan announced as he played the card and the dragon doubled over in pain before it could unleash its attack.
"Fine but that doesn't mean that I can't destroy other things, like Lance's eyesore of a monster!" Louella responded before she pointed to Bonfire Colossus. "Black Brutdrago, attack Bonfire Colossus!" Louella commanded and the dragon turned its breath attack on the fire giant…...
"Well, if Bonfire Colossus is going to be put out he may as well bring Brutdrago down with him! I activate the effect of Flamvell Baby from my hand which increases my monster's attack by four hundred!" Lance announced as he discarded the monster from his hand and Bonfire Colossus's flames roared with intensity as it charged towards the dragon…...
"Nice try but you're not getting rid of my dragon that easily! I activate my Trap Card Follow Wing!" Louella activated the trap and Evan's eyes widened when he heard that name. "And judging by the look on Evan's face he knows exactly what this Continuous Trap Card does!"
"You could say that!" Evan responded before turning to Lance. "She can activate that card by targeting one Synchro Monster she controls, and if it's active Black Brutdrago can't be destroyed by battle or card effects!"
"And that's not even the best part, for us that is!" Louella responded with a grin as Black Brutdrago breathed fire at Bonfire Colossus destroying him. "If a monster targeted by Follow Wing battles a Level Five or higher monster that monster is destroyed and its attack power gets added to Black Brutdrago's for the rest of the turn." Louella added with a grin as Brutdrago's attack skyrocketed to six thousand.
"So, wait, Bonfire Colossus was destroyed by a Card Effect and not the attack?" Lance asked and Louella nodded. "Good because that means Kickfire gets another counter! And it's also bad because I have nothing to protect me!"
"And unfortunately for you Gigaplant hasn't attacked yet!" Louella responded with a grin before pointing to Lance. "Gigaplant, attack Lance's life-points directly!" Louella commanded and the plant whipped Lance with its vines bringing Lance's life-points down to 5600. "And that's first blood to us!"
"You may have drawn first blood but I'm not about to let Latoya do the same thing on her turn! Activate Trap Card Damage Condenser!" Lance activated the trap before discarding a card and inputting commands into his duel disk. "Since I just took twenty-four hundred points of battle damage there's no shortage of monsters that I could summon with my trap card's effect but I only need one!" Lance announced as he retrieved the card from his deck and played it revealing it to be UFO Turtle (4/1400/1200).
"That monster may buy you some time but you can't stall forever." Louella responded before looking at the rest of her hand. "I end my turn." Louella announced and once Brutdrago's attack returned to normal Evan drew his card.
"As much as I hate to admit it, they have a point about Lance's stall tactics and since we're behind on life-points we had better hope that we can turn this around." Evan thought before looking over his hand and nodding. "I summon Magical Exemplar to the field!" Evan played the card and the woman in the green dress with long black hair appeared on the field (4/1700/1400). "Next I play a Spell Card of my own, Magical Blast! Louella may have drawn first blood for her team but I'm about to do the same because this Spell Card inflicts two hundred points of damage for each Spellcaster I control!" Evan added and the two girls winced as the blast hit them bringing their life-points down to 7800. "And more importantly Exemplar gains two counters from her effect!"
"I'm not complaining but why didn't you flip your facedown monster up first?" Latoya asked as her eyes narrowed. "It's obviously Apprentice Magician and you would've been able to do more damage, not to mention add another Spell Counter to Exemplar!"
"Do you always give advice to your opponents?" Evan asked and Latoya frowned in response. "And besides, last I checked Apprentice Magician's effect said that I can summon any level two Spellcaster in the facedown position herself included and whilst there are a few reasons why having a woman in a facedown position is a good thing…..." Evan trailed off before blushing like a madman. "Forget I said that, point is that there are plenty of monsters I could've summoned, like Clear Effector!" Evan announced as his facedown monster flipped up revealing a young woman with ridiculously long dark brown hair wearing a golden headdress and a red jacket with shorts underneath it and black boots (2/0/900).
"And here I thought Chloe's hair was ridiculously long." Louella commented as a large sweat-drop rolled down her head. "Anyway, you may not be using Magicat but we've seen enough of Chloe's duels to know this combo like the back of our hands." Louella responded as she eyed the two monsters. "You're about to use Exemplar's effect to revive Effect Veiler!"
"Come now, Chloe may be fond of this combo but she is far from the only Spellcaster user to think of it!" Evan responded as one of the orbs floating around Exemplar vanished. "But you are correct! I give up one of Exemplar's Spell Counters to summon Effect Veiler from my graveyard!" Evan played the card and the young woman with ridiculously long green hair appeared on the field (1/0/0). "And yes, I am going to take a page out of Chloe's book by using them in a Synchro Summon, just not Arcanite Magician!"
"Well at least it's something different." Latoya commented and Evan nodded.
"Indeed, but first I activate a Field Spell Arcane Library!" Evan played the card and the scenery changed to what looked like a library but there was something magical about the place as some books where floating on their own. "I'll get to its effect in a minute but first Magical Exemplar gains two more counters." Evan explained as two more orbs appeared around Magical Exemplar. "And I give up two of them to Special Summon Magicat from my graveyard!"
"Let me guess, Dark World Dealings?" Latoya asked and Evan nodded as the robed cat appeared on the field (2/600/500). "This is bad, with this many cards on the field he can easily summon something like Mist Worm!"
"I won't keep you in suspense any longer! I use Effect Veiler to give Magical Exemplar, Clear Effector and Magicat a tune-up!" Evan announced as the four Spellcasters leapt into the air with Effect Veiler leading the charge as she faded into the single Synchro Ring that enveloped the other three Spellcasters. "I Synchro Summon the Ancient Arcane Master!" Evan played the card and once the bright flash faded a new monster appeared on the field, he was an extremely old man who was bald and had a long white beard who was wearing green wizards robes and carrying a wooden staff (9/1000/2000).
"All that hype for a monster with stats I'd normally expect from a Level Four Normal Monster and not a Level Nine Synchro Monster?" Louella asked with a skeptical look on her face as Evan drew a card. "It doesn't matter anyway; Follow Wing's effect will destroy him just as easily as it destroyed Bonfire Colossus! And why did you just draw for that matter?"
"That's where your wrong." Evan responded before he retrieved Clear Effector from his graveyard and held it up. "To answer your question, when Clear Effector is sent to the graveyard for a Synchro Summon I get to draw one card but more importantly a Synchro Monster that was summoned using her as a Synchro Material can't be destroyed by card effects!"
"Fine, I guess I'll have to destroy the old man the old-fashioned way, provided Latoya doesn't destroy him first." Louella responded as she folded her arms and Latoya grinned.
"You can certainly try, but in the meantime, I will also resolve Magicat's effect putting a Spell Card that currently resides in my graveyard to the top of my deck." Evan responded before retrieving the Spell Card and moving it to the top of his deck.
"You only had one Spell Card in your graveyard and that was Magical Blast, you just set yourself back because your next draw will be a dead one." Louella pointed out and Even smirked.
"Perhaps, for now I set one card facedown and end my turn." Evan set the single card facedown and Latoya drew her card.
"This is too good to be true, why would Evan go through all that trouble to summon a Level Nine Monster that my knight could beat easily?" Latoya thought with a frown on her face. "Not only that but we still don't know what Tome of Arcane Magic does and now he's gone and brought out this Field Spell that I've never heard off! And then there's his facedown card which could be anything but Lance on the other hand? All he's got to defend himself is that Kickfire trap card and UFO Turtle which is a decent search and stall card but he can't stall forever." Latoya thought before looking at her drawn card. "And speaking of dead draws, I'm going to have to use my tap card." Latoya thought before adding the card to her hand activating one of her traps. "I activate Reckless Greed!"
"Two draws for the cost of your next two draw phases, you must be getting desperate." Lance commented as Latoya made her two draws and sent her trap card to the graveyard.
"Lance, I'm from Las Vegas and my parents work for the gaming commission, if anyone knows a bit about taking a gamble it's me!" Latoya responded before looking at her hand and grinning broadly. "And sometimes the gamble pays off!"
"I don't like that grin on your face." Lance commented with a gulp.
"If you don't like my grin just wait until you see my next move! I summon Dark Bug in attack mode!" Latoya played the card and a small black spider like bug appeared on the field (1/100/100). "He doesn't look like much but his effect makes up for it! When I normal summon this monster I can Special Summon One Level Three Tuner from my Graveyard and thanks to your Dark World Dealings card I have one in my graveyard."
"Okay, so that's two times that my decision to use Dark World Dealings bit me in the ass." Lance commented with a thrown as Latoya retrieved the monster. "At least you don't have enough monsters to summon Beelzeus!"
"Wanna bet? I use Dark Bug's effect to summon Dark Resonator from my graveyard!" Latoya played the card and the small fiend appeared on the field with its tuner stick in hand (3/1300/300). "Oh sure, I could go for a Level Eight Synchro Summon with the monsters I already have face-up but where's the fun in that? I flip summon my facedown monster Darksea Rescue!" Latoya played the card and a small inflatable boat appeared on the field occupied by several small fiends (1/0/0).
"I think your math is a little off Latoya, by my math your monsters' levels combined are nine and last I checked Beelzeus needs a combined total of ten levels." Lance responded with a grin as he looked over her field. "All you've been doing is summoning cannon fodder for any of my monsters and Evan's monsters once he reveals what his big plan is!"
"I know how to do basic math as well Lance but I'm not done yet, I activate Machine Duplication and I use it on Darksea Rescue!" Latoya played the card before noticing the confused look on Lance's face. "Yeah, I know, Darksea Rescue doesn't exactly look like a Machine Monster, take it up with I2! Anyway, since I only have one monster slot left I'll only summon one more Darksea Rescue!" Latoya added as another small boat appeared on the field. "If you thought Evan's Synchro Summon was something then check this out! I tune Dark Resonator with Armageddon Knight, Dark Bug and my two Darksea Rescues!"
"Oh, this is going to suck." Lance commented with a wince as the five monsters leapt into the air for the Synchro Summon, once the ritual was complete and the blight flash faded Beelzeus of the Diabolic Dragons appeared on the field (10/4000/4000). "So, Evan, any ideas? I mean they have their best monsters on the field."
"We'll pull through, trust me on that." Evan reassured him and Latoya grinned.
"Our monsters combined attack totals are seven thousand and Louella's dragon will only get stronger every time it destroys a high-level monster, you may as well give up and accept that your time in the tournament is over!" Latoya responded with a grin before holding up her two copies of Darksea Rescue. "But before I go on the attack I have an effect to resolve, when Darksea Rescue is used in the Synchro Summon of a Dark Type Monster I get to draw one card and since I used two…..." Latoya trailed off before sending her monsters to the graveyard and drawing two cards.
"What was it that Amelia said during the Battle Royal? Oh yeah, the bigger they are, the harder they fall!" Lance responded and Latoya shook her head.
"She was referring to Colossal Fighter and Silent Magician Level Eight, powerful cards yeah but Beelzeus can't be destroyed by battle or card effects, remember?" Latoya asked with a big grin on her face. "So even if you find a way to trick my dragon into attacking Louella's Beelzeus will survive Follow Wing's attack and Brutdrago will be that much stronger!"
"There are other ways of destroying monsters Latoya, Theresa and Brandon demonstrated that during your duel against them." Evan pointed out and Latoya frowned in response. "Now granted I don't think either of us have the new Black Luster Soldier Monsters in our decks but what we do have is plenty of other cards in our decks!"
"Well then, why don't I make Lance go through it? Beelzeus, attack UFO Turtle!" Latoya commanded and the dragon unleashed a stream of black energy at the turtle destroying it.
"Do I even need to say that I'm activating UFO Turtle's effect?" Lance asked and Latoya shook her head before Lance inputted commands into his duel disk and retrieved a monster. "I use UFO Turtle's effect to summon another UFO Turtle!" Lance announced as the second UFO Turtle appeared on the field.
"You set them up, we'll know them down." Latoya responded with a confident grin before looking at the two cards she had drawn with Darksea Rescue. "I set two cards facedown and end my turn." Latoya set the two cards down and Lance drew his card.
"I'm not sure how long I can keep this up, between Latoya and Louella's dragons, Gigaplant and the fact that I'm the only duelist who's taken damage this duel I need a miracle." Lance thought before looking at his drawn card. "And this might be it." Lance thought before playing the card. "I start my turn by playing Heaven's Lost Property!"
"Forcing us to discard cards again? Didn't you learn from that mistake the first time?" Louella asked as the three duelists drew three cards and discarded two.
"Well it's often been said that I'm a slow learner…...actually, forget I said that!" Lance responded before looking at his drawn card. "And this might help me even more, I summon Royal Firestorm Guards!" Lance played the card and the red demon appeared on the field (4/1700/1200). "And since I Normal Summoned him his effect activates allowing me to shuffle four Pyro Type Monsters currently in my graveyard into my deck and draw two cards."
"Do you even have four Pyro Type Monsters in there?" Louella asked with a skeptical look on her face. "The only ones I know about that you've played are Inferno and Flamvell Baby and unless Bonfire Colossus is a Pyro Type Monster I don't see you getting to use its effect."
"Well for starters, Bonfire Colossus is a Beast Warrior Type Monster." Lance responded before grinning. "And I do, thanks to Heaven's Lost Property! So, I shuffle the four Pyro Monsters in my graveyard back into my deck and draw two cards." Lance announced as he shuffled the cards into his deck and drew two cards, when he saw them he quickly set both cards. "I end my turn." Lance announced and Louella drew her card.
"Then I guess I'll cut to the chase! First off I discard a Gemini Monster from my hand to destroy Kickfire using Brutdrago's effect!" Louella announced as she sent her monster to the graveyard and the dragon breathed fire at Lance's trap card destroying it. "But that's not the only destroying that I'll be doing this turn, Brutdrago, attack Royal Firestorm Guards, Gigaplant attack UFO Turtle!"
"You know Evan has a monster that's weaker than both of mine right?" Lance asked as Brutdrago's attack incinerated Royal Firestorm Guards bringing Lance's life-points down to 4600 whilst Gigaplant's vines ripped UFO Turtle in two. "As much as I appreciate being able to use UFO Turtle's effect again, this isn't a two on one handicap match!"
"Never thought I'd hear a boy complain about getting double teamed by two girls but what do I know?" Latoya commented dryly before grinning. "Besides, considering that your life-points are the lowest out of the four of us it'll be a two on one handicap match soon."
"Normally I wouldn't but then again saying what my idea of being double teamed by two girls out loud will cause me to dig into the center of the earth!" Lance responded before he started inputting commands into his duel disk, once he found the card he was looking for he quickly played the card and his last UFO Turtle appeared on the field. "Besides, it's not like my life-points are in the read!"
"True but between my monsters with 3000 and 2400 attack points and Latoya's monster with 4000 attack points it may as well be!" Louella responded before looking at her hand. "I end my turn." Louella announced and Evan drew his card.
"Hey Marie, do you have any idea what Evan's new cards do?" Jared asked with a confused look on his face. "I've never heard of them."
"You're asking the wrong person, or do I need to remind you that I'm a Dragon Duelist?" Marie asked Jared who shook his head in response. "That said, I am curious about those cards so I contacted HQ to see if they had heard of them."
"Any luck?" Jared asked and Marie shrugged.
"Still waiting to hear back from them." Marie answered just before she got a call from HQ. "Hey, did you find anything? Yeah, yeah, I know, next time I should just Google it but I didn't think to bring my laptop!" Marie asked before listening to the person on the other end. "Uh huh, newly released cards you say? Not surprised since no one's heard of them, what are they're effects?" Marie asked before listening to the other person's response, when she heard them she grinned broadly. "Interesting, okay that's everything." Marie said before hanging up.
"So, what did they find out?" Jared asked and Marie grinned before making the zipper motion across her lips. "Come on, don't keep me in suspense!"
"I'll say this, if Evan pulls this off then Latoya and Louella's dragons won't be a problem." Marie responded which only strengthened Jared's curiosity. "You'll have to wait and see, mostly because I want to see the look on your face when he gets to use these cards to their full potential."
"Now that it's been a whole turn since I activated Arcane Library it's effect activates." Evan announced as he pocketed Magical Blast. "In exchange for banishing a Spell Card from my hand during each of my standby phases I can add a counter to a card with "Arcane" in its name like Tome of Arcane Magic." Evan added as his Spell Card glowed. "And yes, I know I stated earlier that Tome of Arcane Magic can only get counters after a Spellcaster Type Monster is destroyed but Arcane Library's effect allows me to bypass that restriction." Evan explained before grinning. "Not bad for a dead draw, huh ladies?"
"Yeah, except for the facts that you'll eventually run out of Spell Cards to banish or pocket space and that you still haven't explained what Tome of Arcane Magic does." Louella pointed out and Evan smirked.
"In due time, but in the meantime, I switch my monster to defense mode and end my turn." Evan announced as the old magician didn't so much as crouch down as he instead went into a meditative position and lay his staff on the ground before he started mediating and as Latoya went to activate her trap she noticed that the old man seemed to be levitating.
"Wow, I knew Kaibacorp's hologram technology was advanced but that's ridiculous." Latoya commented before shaking her head. "But as much as I could watch that all day, I have a match to win and to be frank, I don't completely believe that that old guy's as harmless as he looks so I'm activating this old card, Defense Paralyses!"
"Isn't that just the artwork from Stop Defense slapped onto a Trap Card?" Lance asked as a large sweat-drop rolled down his head. "I mean, I know that card's been around since the original Duelist Kingdom Tournament but even in those days I didn't think that the designers at I2 where that lazy!"
"Yeah, I never understood it myself, especially considering that Pegasus designed a lot of the early Duel Monsters Cards himself." Latoya nodded in agreement before grinning. "But recycled artwork aside this trap card means big trouble for you guys! Since Evan just shifted his monster in defense mode this Trap Card changes all defense position monsters you control to attack mode, including yours Lance!" Latoya added as UFO Turtle and the old man stood up.
"So, what? Are you going to attack my monster?" Evan asked and Latoya frowned.
"He's way to casual about this, it's almost like he wants me to attack! Well I'm happy to oblige and land a significant hit on his life-points as well." Latoya thought before pointing to her dragon. "I activate Beelzeus's effect! For the cost of all battle damage involving my dragon and the old guy being cut in half I reduce his attack points to zero."
"To bad that it's not going to work Latoya!" Lance interrupted her and Latoya turned to him. "Or did you forget about my facedown cards?"
"I thought you had since you didn't use them during Louella's turn." Latoya admitted and Lance shook his head as his facedown card flipped up.
"Oh, I could've but I wanted to wait until you tried to use that big ugly thing's effect! I activate my Trap Card Firewall!" Lance activated the trap which pretty much depicted exactly what the card name suggested, a huge wall of fire shooting out of the ground. "Since I have a Fire Type Monster on my side of the field this trap card will negate the effects of all monsters on your side of the field for the rest of the turn!"
"You realize that my attack will just do more damage to Evan's life-points, right? Yes, the old man's attack points would've been reduced to zero but the battle damage would've been cut in half meaning I'd only inflict two thousand points of damage." Latoya pointed out before grinning. "But now that you've negated my dragon's effect I'll just inflict three thousand points of damage instead!"
"I'm aware of that." Lance responded with a nod before sending his trap card to the graveyard. "I just hope that I'm right about Evan's monster."
"Well, it's your team's funeral! Beelzeus, attack Ancient Arcane Master!" Latoya commanded and the dragon breathed fire at the old man bringing Evan's life-points down to 5000. "All that hype for nothing, we've got this in the bag!"
"I wouldn't be so sure Latoya." Evan responded and Latoya turned to him as the smoke started to clear.
"You sound awfully confident for a guy who's about to lose the…..." Latoya trailed off before she realized that not only had Ancient Arcane Master survived the attack but he was now floating in the air and a third eye had appeared on his forehead. "What's going on? How did he survive that?!"
"His effect, that's how!" Evan responded as the old man started chanting in an unknown language. "I activate Ancient Arcane Master's effect, in exchange for removing one Spell Counter from a Spell Card with "Arcane" in its name he can survive one attack per turn and force you to attack again."
"Okay, if you want to lose that badly I'll be happy to oblige!" Latoya responded before Evan shook his head. "Unless you want me to attack Lance's turtle and put him even further behind on life-points!"
"I wasn't finished, he can force you to attack one of your own monsters." Evan responded and Latoya blinked in confusion.
"But Beelzeus is my only monster on…." Latoya trailed off before it hit her like a ton of bricks. "Shit! I'm sharing the field with Louella!"
"Exactly and I'm forcing your dragon to attack Black Brutdrago!" Evan responded before grinning broadly. "And thanks to Lance's trap card Beelzeus's effect can't save it!" Evan added as Ancient Arcane Master pointed his outstretched palms towards Beelzeus causing it to teleport in front of Brutdrago as it started to prepare his attack, Louella's Follow Wing trap card glowed and Brutdrago breathed fire at Beelzeus destroying it. "Off course, Brutdrago gains Beelzeus's attack points but since you're not controlling him it's a moot point, isn't it?"
"Maybe but I can still summon a monster!" Latoya responded before looking over her hand. "I set a monster in defense mode and end my turn." Latoya announced and Lance drew his card.
"What did I tell you?" Marie asked with a grin on her face as she looked at Jared's slack-jawed expression. "In one move Evan made Beelzeus a non-issue."
"Yeah well, they still have to get past Brutdrago if they want to win this and whilst it wasn't as strong as Beelzeus it's still the most powerful card on the field." Jared pointed out with a frown. "And if Louella runs more than one copy she can easily bring it back with its effect."
"She'd be stupid not to." Marie responded with a nod. "As for Beelzeus, I doubt Latoya has another copy in her extra deck considering how rare that card is and if she does, well, she just demonstrated how much of a pain in the ass it is to Synchro Summon by using five monsters to summon it, if Lance or Evan had something that could prevent Synchro Summons in their decks she'd be up shit creek without a paddle."
"Well, it seems like my stall tactics have finally paid off! First, I activate Rekindling which I use to Special Summon the two monsters I discarded for Heaven's Lost Property last turn, the Tuner Monsters Flamvell Magician and Flamvell Archer!" Lance played the card and the two monsters appeared on the field, the first one was a man in purple armor who was carrying a staff (4/1400/200) and the other was an archer wearing brown armor with hair seemingly made of fire (3/1000/200).
"I don't see how having two Tuner Monsters at the same time will help you Lance, last I checked there weren't any Level 11 or Level 12 Pyro Synchro Monsters, hell I can't think of any Synchro Monsters that fall into those categories full stop." Latoya pointed out and Lance grinned broadly.
"I never said that that was my plan Latoya." Lance responded before pointing to Flamvell Magician and UFO Turtle. "But first things first, I'm getting a little bit tired of being left in the dust by all your Synchro Summons so I think it's about time that I did one of my own, Flamvell Magician, give UFO Turtle a Tune Up!" Lance commanded and the two monsters leapt into the air for a Synchro Summon.
"Well, one thing's for sure, this is easily the most Synchro Summons we've seen in a tournament duel since the opening round." Latoya commented dryly as the Synchro Summon was performed.
"Well I guess you could say that I saved the best for last! I Synchro Summon Flamvell Minotaur!" Lance played the card and once the blight flash faded a new monster appeared on the field, it bared a close resemblance to Battle Ox but it was much bigger and the armor occasionally shot out spurts of flame and he was carrying an axe that was on fire (8/3000/2500).
"I'd be worried if it wasn't for my Trap Card pretty much ensuring that that thing will meet a quick end." Louella commented with a grin and Lance's grin grew wider.
"Yeah, I was wondering about that actually." Lance responded as his grin grew wider. "More specifically, what would happen if Brutdrago left the field."
"It would get destroyed obviously." Louella commented with a smirk. "So, unless your facedown card is Compulsory Evacuation Device I don't see you getting rid of it." Louella responded before noticing the look on Lance's face. "Your facedown card's Compulsory Evacuation Device, isn't it?"
"You got it right and here's your prize!" Lance said as his trap card flipped up confirming Louella's worst fears. "You get to see your dragon take flight without using its wings! I activate Compulsory Evacuation Device!"
"Can't I take some prize money instead?" Louella asked with a nervous gulp before the dragon was sent flying from the field and, much to the amusement of the crowd, into Martin's pod.
"I hope I don't get into trouble for that." Lance said with a nervous laugh as Follow Wing's Hologram shattered. "Anyway, before I continue I'll go ahead and activate Flamvell Archer's effect, by sacrificing one Pyro Type Monster I can grant all of my Pyro Type Monsters an additional eight hundred attack points and guess what? That includes Flamvell Archer!" Lance said as the archer disappeared and Flamvell Minotaur roared as his attack went up to 3800.
"So, wait, that thing's a Pyro Type Monster and Bonfire Colossus is a Beast Warrior Type Monster?" Latoya asked with a confused look on her face and Lance shrugged.
"Don't look at me, I'm just telling you what I read on the cards, feel free to ask I2 what they were smoking when they assigned those monster types to those monsters." Lance responded before pointing to Gigaplant. "Anyway, I don't know about you girls but I think it's time that we started burning from weeds, Flamvell Minotaur, attack Gigaplant!" Lance commanded and the minotaur charged into battle before slicing the monster in half bringing Louella's life-points down to 6400. "And if you think that's bad? Get a load of this, I activate Flamvell Minotaur's effect, by cutting his attack points in half I can allow him to attack again."
"Is it too late to apologize for focusing on you so much?" Louella asked with a nervous gulp as Flamvell Minotaur shrunk down in size as his attack dropped to 1900.
"I'll be axing the questions here!" Lance responded with a pun so bad that it got the entire audience to boo him. "Okay, okay, last pun I swear!"
"Make sure you follow through on your promise, and if Chloe promises to never let you get into stand-up comedy we'll all be happy!" Louella responded before her trap card flipped up. "In any case I activate my Trap Card Birthright! Since my Gemini Monsters count as normal monsters whilst there in the graveyard I'll use this to bring back Gigaplant!"
"A decent idea but it's not going to work." Evan interjected as his trap card flipped up. "I activate Trap Jammer to negate Birthright's effect!"
"Which means that my Minotaur is free to attack!" Lance added as Flamvell Minotaur brought his axe down on Louella bringing her life-points down to 4500. "Funny how quickly things can be turned around in just a few short turns." Lance said returned to his side of the field. "Unless you have other tricks up your sleeves we'll be off to the next round before you know it, and before you ask, Flamvell Minotaur's attack reduction isn't permanent, it lasts until the end of my turn but the same can be said for the boost from Flamvell Archer."
"Black Brutdrago and Beelzeus might be our best monsters but we didn't get into Ra Yellow by just relying on one monster." Louella responded before looking over her hand. "All though I will admit that things are looking bad."
"I end my turn by setting one card facedown." Lance announced as Flamvell Minotaur's attack returned to its normal score and it returned to its normal size and Louella drew her card.
"Unless I draw something good we'll be out of the tournament." Louella responded as she glanced over at Latoya. "Latoya's life-points are mostly untouched but with Lance's monster on the field that won't last long unless her facedown monster is Mystic Tomato." Louella thought before looking at her drawn card. "First I activate Birthright and this time…"
"Sorry but your last-ditch effort is about to fall short! I activate my trap card Flamvell Counter!" Lance activated the trap and Louella's eyes widened. "All I need to do is banish one Pyro Type Monster from my graveyard with two hundred defense points and Birthright's effect is negated and it's destroyed." Lance added as he pocketed Flamvell Archer and the trap card shattered. "I hope that wasn't your last hope because I'd hate for this duel to end like this."
"It was my last hope, most of the Gemini Monsters I had in my hand I discarded for Black Brutdrago's effect." Louella admitted before taking a deep breath. "I pass." Louella announced and Evan drew his card.
"Then we all know how this will end." Evan responded before looking at his drawn card. "Well, since you've been so patient with my tome I'll reveal what it does in a moment, first I banish a Spell Card from my hand to give it a second counter." Evan explained before grinning. "Now I play the spell card I just drew, Arcane Wisdom!" Evan announced as a bright flash enveloped the field.
"What's going on?" Louella asked as the flash faded, when she looked up the hologram for Tome of Arcane Magic was gone but that's not all she noticed. "Whoa, where did he come from?" Louella asked as she pointed to a man that had appeared in Ancient Arcane Master's place, he seemed to be a younger version of Ancient Arcane Master with long flowing brown hair and a matching beard and whilst his robes covered most of his body it was easy to tell that he was ripped (9/3000/2000).
"He is the younger version of Ancient Arcane Master, Master of the Arcane! He may have lost his physical strength with age but with age comes great wisdom and the ability to turn back time." Evan responded before noticing the looks he was getting. "In gameplay terms, he can only be summoned using Arcane Wisdom which requires that I sacrifice Tome of Arcane Magic with at least two Spell Counters on it and Ancient Arcane Master and since Tome of Arcane Magic had two counters on it he gets this effect, the ability to destroy all monsters you have on the field."
"Wait, what?!" Latoya asked as the monster held out his outstretched palm firing a wave of energy at her monster destroying it. "So much for Mystic Tomato."
"And before you ask how this card is legal, well if I use that effect Master of the Arcane can't attack you directly for the rest of the turn." Evan added before turning to Lance. "But Lance has a monster that can!"
"Say no more." Lance responded as Flamvell Minotaur marched over to his side of the field.
"You two have done well to make it as far as you did but this is where your journey ends, Flamvell Minotaur, attack Louella's life-points directly!" Evan commanded and the minotaur charged into battle before bringing his axe down on Louella and bringing her life-points down to 1500. "And I use his effect to cut his own attack points in half and attack again!" Evan added before Flamvell Minotaur's attack got cut in half and he brought his axe down sending Louella's life-points down to zero. "The smart thing for you to do would be to surrender Latoya, I end my turn." Evan announced and once Flamvell Minotaur was back on Lance's side of the field Latoya skipped her draw phase due to Reckless Greed.
"After making it further than most of the other teams that started the tournament in Ra Yellow? Not a chance!" Latoya responded before looking at her hand. "I drew Allure of Darkness when I used Darksea Rescue earlier and normally I'd use this in a heartbeat but I don't have any monsters in my hand and unless I draw a monster I'll be forced to discard my hand, doesn't matter, I still have Mirror Force facedown from earlier in the duel, just been waiting for the right time to use it and saving my ass feels like the right time." Latoya thought before glancing at Lance. "I have to pass."
"Would've been quicker to surrender, that's all we're saying." Lance shrugged before drawing his card. "And if your hoping that that trap card will save you, it won't, I activate Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy it!" Lance played the card and Latoya's eyes widened as the typhoon destroyed her trap card. "Last chance Latoya, we both know how this will end."
"Just get it over with." Latoya sighed as she braced herself for the attacks.
"Fine by me, can I borrow your monster Evan?" Lance asked and Evan nodded before Master of the Arcane made his way over to Lance's side of the field. "Flamvell Minotaur, Master of the Arcane, attack her life-points directly." Lance commanded and the two monsters unleashed their attacks bringing Latoya's life-points down to 1200. "Just so you know, unlike certain other Obelisk Blue Students, I take no pleasure in this."
"Somehow I doubt you'd be dating a girl from my dorm if you did Lance." Latoya responded with a grin and Lance nodded.
"I cut Flamvell Minotaur's attack in half to finish this!" Lance commanded and the minotaur brought his axe down again sending her life-points down to zero.
"Here are your winners, Lance Alvers and Evan Grant! Which means that they will go on to face their Obelisk Blue counterparts in Cameron and Jessica in the first match of the duels that'll take place on Monday!" Martin announced and the crowd cheered whilst Lance and Evan shared a look. "But the winners of that match shouldn't get to comfortable because the Semi-Finals will take place just a few minutes after that duel! But before then we have to decide which team they will be facing as coming up next we have Ra Yellow's Chloe Richardson and Chelsea Cunningham teaming up to take on Obelisk Blue's Thomas Newborne and Ra Yellow's Rajin Kanda!"
"We have a tall order ahead of us on Monday Evan." Lance commented as he turned to Evan. "Are you sure your new cards will be ready for it."
"I wouldn't have added my new cards if I wasn't confident that they'd carry us to victory." Evan responded with a nod before noticing Latoya and Louella approaching them. "It's like I said, you girls did well to make it this far."
"Thanks Evan, and thanks for the great duel." Louella responded with a nod before the two girls offered them a handshake as a show of sportsmanship which they accepted. "And if I where you Lance I'd be thinking of a way to save face following your admittance to owning a porn collection."
"Why do I need to save face? I'm eighteen years old!" Lance protested and Latoya motioned towards the walkway behind them and he looked over. "Oh, right, Chloe." Lance said once he saw his girlfriend and her partner waiting for them to leave the duel arena.
"All I'm saying is good luck, you're going to need it." Latoya responded before they headed off towards the stands, once they were gone Lance and Evan hopped off the arena and walked up to the two girls.
"Hey guys, great match out there." Chloe greeted them before quickly kissing Lance. "Lance, we have some things to talk about."
"If you're going to ask me to burn my porn collection we're going to need a massive bonfire, just saying." Lance responded and Chloe shook her head.
"Not what I was talking about." Chloe said before noticing Thomas and Rajin waiting for her and Chelsea. "We'll talk after the duels, I don't want to risk being late two days in a row."
"Yeah, sure, just make sure that that asshole doesn't make it to the Semi-Finals." Lance nodded in understanding before he walked off with Evan and Chloe walked off with Chelsea.
"Just a fair warning, I know Chloe's hot and all but I'm sure that your drool hitting her friends' heads will alert them." Jared commented with a deadpan expression on his face as he noticed the look on Marie's face when Chloe entered the arena. "Are you even listening to me?"
"I am and don't worry, I did bring some napkins on the off chance that I do drool over her." Marie responded before she turned her attention back to the duel.
