It was the morning after visitor day on Duel Academy island and the students were in the middle of saying goodbye to their families/making plans for summer break for the most part, the others were already back on the ship by then but things were a lot more peaceful, however despite weekends being the time of the week were the students had days off for the most part two girls in the Ra Yellow Girl's Dorm were needed elsewhere.
"So, that's the second earful we've gotten from Sara in a row." Chelsea commented as she rubbed her ear and Chloe grinned, the two girls had been awake for the past twenty minutes and had already gotten dressed although it was barely eight o'clock in the morning. "At this rate, one of two things will happen, either we drive Sarah insane or we drive her into retirement."
"At least it wasn't our fault this time." Chloe responded with a grin as they walked down the hallway. "Anyway, we had better get going, Theresa did say be there before nine."
"Chloe, we have what?" Chelsea asked as she checked the time on her IPhone not noticing a door a front of them opening. "Forty minutes, it's not like we're walking from our old dorm in Osiris Red! We've got plenty of time and I don't see anything…." Chelsea trailed off as an excited Labrador bounded out of the dorm room in front of them and without warning pounced on Chloe knocking her over and licking her face. "You know what? I'm going to keep my mouth shut before I get tackled by a dog." Chelsea said before Latoya and Louella emerged from their dorm room.
"Rocky, get off her!" Latoya said with an embarrassed smile on her face as she pulled the dog off Chloe, Chelsea helped her bemused roommate up and Latoya grinned sheepishly. "Sorry about that Chloe, the school board let my parents bring my dog to the island and we convinced them to let us look after him overnight."
"Chelsea, remind me to ask my dad to do that for the next visitors day." Chloe commented and Chelsea grinned before they started stroking the dog. "Rocky, was it?"
"Yeah, he's one years old." Latoya nodded in response as the dog sat down. "As for why he's so excited, well Louella is going to take him over to the North Side of the island to do his business but I made the mistake of opening the door before she could get the lead on."
"Thanks for that by the way." Louella added as she clipped the lead onto Rocky's collar. "You okay Chloe?"
"I own a Labrador myself, I'm used to being knocked over and having my face licked off." Chloe responded before Chelsea handed her a handkerchief which she used to wipe her face. "If anything, I'm just glad that he didn't do his business whilst he was on top of me…..." Chloe trailed off before face-palming. "You know, you'd think I'd know better now that I've finally got a boyfriend."
"To be fair, your boyfriend is Lance." Chelsea pointed out with a grin. "Besides, even after you started dating Lance that's probably the most tongue action you've got since you arrived here."
"Very funny." Chloe responded with a deadpan expression on her face. "Chelsea, I'll go on ahead, I think we're running a bit late."
"Sure." Chelsea nodded in response and, after Chloe gave Rocky one last stroke as she walked past him, she walked off. "So, how did family day go for you guys."
"Well, I got to see my dog again so that's a plus." Latoya responded as she patted Rocky on the head. "And we told our parents something that we're been hiding for a while."
"If it's the presence of Bealzeus in your extra deck you're not doing a good job, just saying." Chelsea deadpanned and the two girls laughed.
"Well, that too but that's not what we meant." Louella said before grinning at Latoya. "We came out of the closet yesterday."
"Wait, seriously?" Chelsea asked and the two girls nodded before holding hands. "Huh, so that's what you were really doing in the clearing the other night, how did your folks respond?"
"My parents always had a feeling that I didn't have any sexual interest in boys." Latoya responded with a shrug before grinning broadly. "And because of that, they accepted the fact that I'm gay, as for Louella…"
"I'm the adopted daughter of a lesbian couple, how do you think they reacted when I came out?" Louella responded and Chelsea laughed before nodding. "Our next task was telling the other students since you came out before you even enrolled here we wanted to tell you first but we couldn't find you."
"Heh, sorry about that, I was showing my older brothers around and we got caught up in watching two duels at the Obelisk Blue Duel Field." Chelsea responded with a nod. "As for how we were let in, Chakra was dueling and she told the guard to let us in." Chelsea added when she noticed the confused looks on their faces. "Seriously though, congrats, I know from personal experience that coming out is never easy."
"Thanks Chelsea, after coming out of the closet I feel like I can take on Martin's Sylvan deck." Latoya commented and Chelsea sweat-dropped.
"Trust me, you don't want that, it's been a week and I'm still trying to wrap my head around the number of confusing effects he used in my promotion duel." Chelsea said before stroking Rocky one last time. "Anyway, I've got to get going, me and Chloe are due over at Theresa's dorm room."
"Orichalcos stuff?" Latoya asked with a frown on her face and Chelsea nodded. "Funny you should mention that actually, I saw a news report that two of the pro-duelists that you and your friends faced in the expulsion duels were attacked by Orichalcos Duelists."
"Really?" Chelsea asked with a frown on her face. "Who?"
"It was the girls that Andreas and Marcus faced, what were their names again?" Louella asked before she remembered their names. "Oh yeah, Adriene and Amanda, they were apparently competing in some charity tournament in Canada when they were attacked."
"And I'm willing to bet good money that that's what the meeting's about." Chelsea thought before nodding. "Well, thanks for letting me know, I'd better let you go, Rocky looks like he's bursting for a piss."
"See you later." Louella nodded before they stepped aside to let Chelsea walk past. "Okay Latoya, since you opened the door before I get his lead on." Louella added as she let go off her girlfriend's hand and placed the lead in it. "You're walking Rocky."
"Why me?" Latoya managed to blurt out before Rocky pulled her along.
*meanwhile*
The weekend was in full swing but whilst the students had the weekend off it was business as usual for the staff, in Martin's case he was going over some paperwork in his office in the main building.
"Okay, so Louella and Latoya are looking after Latoya's family's dog until the ship leaves this evening." Martin thought with a sigh as he looked over the paperwork which was covering his desk to the point were to the untrained eye it looked like the top of the desk was made of paper. "It's a Golden Labrador so part of is glad that the dorm colors for their dorm is yellow and not black but the other part of me feels sorry for the cleaning staff knowing how much that breed malts, at least they were kind enough to leave dog food so that the poor animal doesn't consume human food." Martin thought before setting the paperwork aside. "Noise complaint from Lance's dorm room, that's not unusual but there were reports of a fight between him and Chloe's dad, I should ask him about that, Andreas had a friendly duel with Nicola's older brother than took them an hour past curfew and then there's the attempted assault on Nicola." Martin's train of thought was interrupted by a knock at the door. "Unless Misty with coffee I'm not in the mood, I've got a boatload of paperwork."
"Don't worry, it's me sir." Misty responded as she opened the door with a cup of coffee in her hand. "Sorry it took so long, the coffee machine in the boy's dorm broke so I had to go over to the Ra Yellow Boy's Dorm to get you a drink."
"Tell Jeff that I said thanks." Martin responded before clearing some room for the cup. "What's wrong with the machine in the Obelisk Blue Dorm?"
"I'm not sure, it wasn't dispersing coffee even after I put some beans in." Misty shrugged her shoulders and Martin nodded with a confused look on his face, however whilst Misty's back was turned something was happening at her desk.
"Thank you, Dr. Schwartz!" Jack thought before quickly glancing around to confirm that no one was watching and emptied a vial into Misty's coffee. "The test run in Canada was a success, let's see if it works as well on someone with minimal dueling experience, man I can't wait to use this on Adriana, in the meantime those two agents that came to the island with me should keep those idiots busy!" Jack thought before glancing at the door to Martin's office. "I'd better get…." Jack never finished his thought as he stubbed his toe on the desk.
"Huh, did you hear something?" Misty asked as they could hear Jack angrily yelling every swear word under the sun.
"Forget it, maybe a students' family member stubbed their toe on your desk." Martin shrugged and Misty nodded. "I should really have Misty move her desk closer to the wall, where have I heard that voice before?"
*a bit later*
A couple of hours had passed since Chloe and Chelsea's run-in with Latoya, Louella and Rocky and they were now in Theresa's dorm room alongside the other students with Duel Spirit Partners, Ash and Hu and Jason and Chakra with only the Kaiba siblings and Nicola missing in action.
"Okay, so I don't think it's fair to expect Tyler to attend the meeting since he's still recovering from his Duel against Jack." Theresa commented once Chloe and Chelsea had made their selves comfortable. "Not sure about Miranda but if she does come she's welcome to join us."
"What about Nicola?" Hu asked as he folded his arms. "I heard that she wanted a duel against her older brother, Zach, wasn't it?"
"Yes, I dueled him last night." Andreas nodded as he leaned back in his chair. "To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up being autistic himself, he seemed absent minded at the best of times during our duel and odd at other times but at the same time I can't deny his skills as a duelist."
"That reminds me, I hope everyone's family days went well yesterday." Theresa commented earning a few sweat-drops from several students.
"Well, a war almost broke out between my stepdad and Lance over a dumbass joke he made." Chloe commented with an annoyed sigh and Lance laughed nervously in response. "Fortunately, I was able to get them to sign a peace treaty."
"Weird, I remember your dad being pretty laid back from Battle City." Brandon commented as he turned to her. "What made him…..." Brandon trailed off before sweat-dropping. "Lance joked whilst he was giving him "the talk", didn't he?"
"All I said that there would be a pretty big line forming to kick my ass if I ever laid a hand on Chloe." Lance defended himself and Brandon face-palmed.
"I'm not going to deny that there's some truth to that statement." Brandon said with an annoyed sigh as he ran a hand down his face. "But there's a time and place for everything Lance, then again if you knew that you wouldn't have mentioned the balloon popping fetish video during the Battle Royal."
"I'm never living that down, am I?" Lance asked only to get a simultaneous "no" from the other students and he laughed nervously. "And before anyone asks, no I didn't bring that up during "the talk"."
"If he did Marcus would've heard me banging my head against the wall in his dorm room." Chloe added and the others sweat-dropped.
"I think we're missing the bigger picture here." Ash commented before turning to Lance. "How did he react to your porn stash?"
"He didn't, I already had it hidden in preparation for my mom's visit." Lance responded and the others nodded in response. "Any other stories?"
"I ran into Chakra's parents whilst I was showing my folks around the main building." Jason responded before blushing a bit. "They had barely known me for five minutes before they decided that I was good husband material for Chakra."
"Wow, I am glad I didn't decide to start dating Chakra." Lance commented only to sweat-drop when the French Obelisk Blue Student cleared her throat. "No offense."
"None taken." Chakra commented before turning to the others. "Despite Jason's protests we got him to agree to a duel at the Obelisk Blue Duel Field and it was then that we ran into Chelsea and her brothers and Mike and his mother and sister for pretty much the same reason we ran into Jason, since they had nothing better to do they decided to watch the duel."
"And as much as I'd like to say that it went my way, it didn't." Jason sighed in annoyance as he folded his arms. "I would've won if Chakra hadn't activated Vanity's Emptiness when she did."
"We can sit here and play "what if?" all day or we can wait for Nicola to arrive and get this meeting underway." Chakra commented with a frown before turning to Andreas. "Not long after my duel against Jason ended Andreas and Nicola's brother Zach showed up wanting to duel, since we had just finished we were more than happy to leave them too it."
"And as I said, her brother is certainly an odd one but a talented duelist." Andreas added before there was a knock at the door and Chloe stood up to answer it seeing Nicola, Amelia and Daniel there when she did.
"I wasn't sure if you had gotten my text Amelia." Theresa commented as Chloe stood aside to let the three students in and closed the door behind them. "I know it's kind of cramped in here but try to make yourselves comfy." Theresa added before turning to Nicola. "I'm guessing that the distance from the Osiris Red Girl's Dorm to here is what hept you?"
"Well, that and I ran into a hyperactive Labrador outside the Ra Yellow Girl's Dorm." Nicola commented and Chloe and Chelsea shared a look. "Beautiful dog but he almost ran me over when he saw me."
"Don't tell me, his name was Rocky and either Latoya or Louella were holding his lead?" Chloe asked and Nicola nodded. "Yeah, we ran into the same dog when we were making our way out of the dorm, he knocked me over and started licking my face."
"And considering what dogs use their tongues for, I strongly recommend washing your face." Theresa commented as a large sweat-drop rolled down her head and Chloe shook her head.
"My family owns two dogs, remember? Besides, I did stop by the bathroom in the girl's dorm to wash my face before I came over." Chloe responded as she leaned back. "Besides, he didn't get much of a chance to lick my face off before Latoya pulled him off me."
"I'm just surprised that they have a dog here in the first place." Andreas commented as he folded his arms. "I thought that the school didn't allow the students to have pets on the island?"
"They don't otherwise I would've brought my dogs with me when I was accepted." Chloe responded with a shrug as she turned to Andreas. "Apparently, the school board was convinced by Latoya's parents to let them bring the dog to the island and she convinced them to let her and Louella look after the dog overnight."
"Remind me to ask my dad if he can do the same for my pet cat." Nicola commented with a grin and Chloe nodded.
"I was thinking the same thing." Chloe responded before turning to Theresa. "Okay, since everyone's here shall we get started?"
"Good idea." Theresa nodded in response before opening a web browser on her desktop. "Okay, whilst Andreas was dueling Zach last night I was doing some late-night browsing before I went to bed, right before I decided that it was time to go to bed I got a Skype call from two old friends of the group." Theresa said as she turned to the others. "Adriene Beaumont and Amanda Cocteau."
"The French and Canadian National Champs?" Jason asked with a raised eyebrow and Theresa nodded in response. "Why would they have you on Skype?"
"Oh right, that was before you were accepted here." Theresa commented with a frown. "Long story but the original group of seven ended up facing expulsion duels and the school flew in some pro-league duelists to help with that, Adriene and Amanda were among them."
"Yes, I faced Adriene and Marcus faced Amanda." Andreas nodded in response before turning to Jason. "Except for the duelist Chloe faced, all the duelists didn't want to see us get expelled and when we beat them they were good sports about it, off course it helped that we ran into two of the duelists during Battle City but before they left the island to head to Domino City Airport they added us on Skype."
"Admittedly I don't get that much of a chance to chat with them because of how busy they are or do I need to remind you of how long it took us to contact anyone from that group on Friday?" Theresa asked and the others shook their heads. "Anyway, they were staying at a hotel in Canada and as much as I'd like to say that they were just wanting to catch up with me, that wasn't the case, they had just competed in a Tag Team Orichalcos Duel."
"Since they called you I think it's safe to say that they won?" Lance asked and Theresa nodded.
"Quite easily at that, at first I thought the Orichalcos Duelists had vastly underestimated their capabilities when they went after Pro-League Duelists but the truth was more disturbing." Theresa responded before frowning. "I don't have any better way to describe it but it sounds like they now have some kind of mind control capabilities."
"What is this? A bad science fiction movie?" Chloe asked with an amused look on her face and Theresa shook her head.
"I know it sounds farfetched but it was enough to shake two pro-league duelists who've been dueling most of their lives, that should tell you everything you need to know about how bad this is." Theresa responded and Chloe nodded with a frown on her face. "Fortunately, neither Amanda nor Adriene were seriously injured and based on what they told me there were no injuries to passersby either, their boyfriends had already retired to their rooms by that point and whilst there was a crowd of onlookers, mostly young children staying at the hotel, they retreated back into the hotel once the Orichalcos was activated."
"And knowing the Orichalcos, that could've gotten ugly quickly." Lance commented before realizing something. "Why were they staying at the hotel anyway? As Jason just mentioned, Adriene's French and didn't she say she's from Paris? And for that matter, doesn't Amanda live in Canada?"
"She did and she does but Amanda's from Nova Scotia and the hotel's in Toronto, as for Adriene, she and Amanda had been invited to Toronto to take part in a charity couple's tag team tournament hence why their boyfriends where there with them." Theresa responded with a shrug and Lance nodded. "Apparently Adriene won the whole thing and donated the prize money to the WWF, as in the World Wildlife Fund and not the wrestling organization."
"Theresa, the wrestling organization hasn't been called the WWF in over a decade." Chloe pointed out as she folded her arms. "They were forced to change their name to the WWE after they lost a lawsuit to the WWF, anyway considering that Adriene ran a Naturia Deck against Andreas it doesn't surprise me that she went with that as her charity of choice."
"Yeah, apparently, her parents are environmental activists." Theresa responded with a nod as she leaned back. "Amanda didn't mention what charity she was representing, only that Adriene's team knocked hers out in the second round, but more importantly they did say that if we want their help fighting the Orichalcos they've got it."
"Unpleasant circumstances aside, I'd say that's a major win for us." Marcus responded with a big grin on his face. "Having pro-duelists on our side is one thing but the two National Champions? They will be a great help, especially with training!"
"Especially if we can get the other Duelists we faced that day to help us out." Theresa nodded in agreement before remembering something. "That reminds me, what I called Phil and Francesca Friday night they could account for the whereabouts of most of the other pro-duelists we faced that day, it's pretty much how I was able to learn about the tag team tournament in the first place, but there was one duelist who was unaccounted for." Theresa said before turning to Chloe. "Erick."
"Who cares if he's missing in action? He was one of the biggest assholes I've ever dueled or met and that's including Otto, Jessica, Cameron and Thomas!" Chloe responded with a shrug before it hit her. "Unless you're worried that he defected to the Orichalcos Duelists after I beat him."
"That's exactly what I'm worried about, Erick may have been an asshole but he's also a talented duelist, Phil even said that he was a favorite to win the Scottish Qualifiers for the UK Championships before he fell off the radar." Theresa responded with a nod and Chloe frowned. "Unfortunately, we don't have any solid proof that he's an Orichalcos Duelist and Jared's word is sketchy at best considering that he admitted in court that Otto had tried to bribe him into destroying your original deck and he strongly considered it."
"So why don't we just throw the accusation out there?" Chelsea offered and Theresa turned to her. "As you said, we don't have much to go on but after the damage they caused during Battle City the big-wigs in the pro-league have to take it seriously."
"They do, and that's exactly why it's a double-edged sword." Theresa responded as she turned to Chelsea. "If the accusation proves true Erick's career as a pro-duelist is over and if he had any titles to his name he'd be stripped off them, but if the accusations are false it goes the other way, the accuser's career would be ruined and their reputation tarnished."
"And that's only applied to pro-duelists." Brandon commented as he folded his arms. "But Academy students? Well if the accusation proves to be false then we may as well drop out right then and there because even if we do graduate no self-respecting agent will want to touch us with a ten-foot pole which means no tournaments, no sponsorships, no future as duelists."
"It's a solid idea Chelsea but it's a risky one, besides, you've been kicked out of enough schools already, can you imagine how your parents would react to this if we did go through with it?" Theresa responded and Chelsea took a deep breath.
"I may as well come out and say it, when I earned my place here my folks made it clear that if I got expelled from this school then it's off to military academy for me." Chelsea commented as she folded her arms. "That's part of the reason why my temper flew off the handle during my duel against Ricardo but if this was the reason I got kicked out? They might just send me to the toughest military academy they can find and that's IF I'm lucky."
"Even more reasons for us to tread carefully." Theresa nodded in response as Chelsea took a deep breath. "That said, the fact that two of the pro-league duelists who we faced during the Expulsion Duels just got attacked right after Jared told us that a duelist from that group had defected to the Orichalcos Duelists is either the world's biggest coincidence or they know that we know and they want to take out the others before they can contact us."
"Considering that Amanda and Adriene apparently crushed the guys they sent after them they are probably rethinking that strategy." Lance commented as he folded his arms. "Think about it, Adriene was the youngest of the pro-duelists we faced and Amanda isn't that much older than her, if we were Orichalcos Duelists what would that tell us about going after the other pro-duelists? Or Pro-League Duelists in general."
"That the same tactic that worked on Duel Academy Students won't work on Pro-League duelists." Brandon nodded in response once he understood where Lance was coming from. "It'd probably cost us more manpower and resources as well, we're all situated on a large island a few miles off the coast of Domino City, the pro-duelists live all over the world and it was pure luck on their part that Adriene and Amanda just so happened to be staying in the same hotel for that couple's tag team tournament."
"Aren't we forgetting something?" Chloe chimed in as she turned to the two boys. "Otto, Karen and Felix." Chloe listed of the names before folding her arms. "What do they have in common?"
"They made it to the Battle City Semi-Finals." Brandon commented after thinking for a moment and Chloe motioned for him to go on. "And they were Orichalcos Duelists."
"Exactly, aside from us, Zach and Ray, Nicola and the Orichalcos Duelists Battle City was mostly made up of Pro-League Duelists." Chloe responded before frowning. "For all we know they claimed victims on their routes to the Semi-Finals so it's not like the Orichalcos Duelists don't have experience dueling pro-leaguers."
"She's right, and we were so focused on our own progression throughout the tournament that we didn't really pay attention to the other duelists." Andreas nodded in agreement before frowning. "And that's not getting into the Orichalcos Duelists who were eliminated during the City Stage of the tournament, there was a few that we were able to stop before they could claim their victims but what about the others? For the most part we won our way into the Semi-Finals by beating Orichalcos Duelists including Chloe's dad."
"Wait, Chloe's dad was an Orichalcos Duelist?" Jason asked with a confused look on his face that was shared by Chakra, Hu and Ash whilst Chloe had an uncomfortable look on her face.
"Okay, let me make one thing clear before we make Chloe feel any less comfortable." Lance chimed in and they turned to him. "Her first opponent in the semi-finals was her dad but she has two dads, the guy she fought was her stepdad and her biological father…..." Lance trailed off before sighing. "Look if Chloe wants to tell you the details later I won't stop her but all I'm saying is that her biological dad was abusive and he was an Orichalcos Duelist."
"And I really don't want to talk about it so do me a favor and drop it!" Chloe quickly chimed in and the four duelists nodded without hesitation. "As Lance said, if you want details I'll tell you but I'd rather do it somewhere a bit more private."
"I guess that's understandable." Jason nodded in understanding before turning to Theresa. "Is that everything you wanted to cover?"
"I think so, also I want these meetings to become a regular thing, both so that we can bring new help up to speed and discuss possible strategies." Theresa said before motioning to Brandon. "I already discussed it with Brandon and he's happy to be the minute taker for these meetings."
"Does that mean we're going to move these meetings into an office or something?" Marcus asked with a frown. "As much as I appreciate the help there's only so much room in our dorm rooms, even ones as big as the Obelisk Blue Dorm Rooms."
"That is a fair point, I'll talk with Martin at some point today and see if he can help us out." Brandon commented with a nod before remembering something. "Oh yeah, I2's released a new ban list."
"They didn't hit my deck again, did they?" Lance asked with a frown and Brandon shook his head.
"Not this time, the most notable banning that I could see was Vanity's Emptiness." Brandon commented and Jason grinned broadly whilst Chakra frowned. "I'm guessing that hits your deck?"
"Vanity's Emptiness is one of my key cards, yes." Chakra commented before retrieving her three copies of the trap card from her deck. "I learned from my mistake the first time around, I won't reconfigure my duel disk to accept cards not banned in the OCG."
"I'm pretty sure that you won't find a technician willing to do that anyway, no matter how much you pay them." Brandon nodded in response before grinning. "The big news for me is that Sangan's finally off the banlist!"
"Didn't that card's banning lead to you switching to a Chaos Deck?" Lance asked and Brandon nodded. "Great, as if your Chaos Deck wasn't good enough already."
"And if Jessica knows about it then her burn deck is that much more powerful." Chloe responded with a frown before turning to Brandon. "Anything else?"
"Rescue Cat and Future Fusion are now limited, don't get to excited Andreas and Marcus, I heard those cards got erratered." Brandon added and the two boys frowned. "I think we've covered everything Theresa."
"Right, let me know if Martin lets us use one of the meeting rooms in the main building." Theresa said before turning to the others. "Rest of you, keep an eye out for any Orichalcos activity, otherwise? This meeting's over." Theresa added and the others left her room.
*meanwhile*
Whilst the meeting was going on in Theresa's dorm room life was continuing as normal for the other students on the island whether that meant parting in duels or catching up on homework, however for two girls in the Ra Yellow Girl's Dorm today was anything but ordinary for them.
"Okay Louella, you gathered up Rocky's crap last time." Latoya said as she handed her girlfriend a paper bag, one of several that they had been using to gather up Rocky's droppings. "Your turn."
"And now you know why I prefer cats." Louella sighed to herself before putting on some gloves, grabbing the paper bag and entering the clearing that Latoya and Rocky had just emerged from, she emerged carrying the same paper bag at an arm's length and holding her nose with her free hand. "At least they keep their crap in the litter box!"
"You still have to clean up after them." Latoya responded before the two girls started walking back down the hill knowing that there a bin near the main building where they could dispose of Rocky's waste. "Besides, cats are assholes."
"Only if you haven't earned their love." Louella commented before patting Rocky on the head. "Don't get me wrong, Rocky's a great dog even if he has mowed down several students since your parents left him with us but…" Louella trailed off as Rocky seemed to focus his attention on a clearing and growled. "Something wrong boy?"
"I don't think he's seen a squirrel, I think Rocky's the first animal that's been on the island since Kaibacorp took it over to build the academy." Latoya responded before glancing into the clearing and frowning. "Louella, we have a situation."
"What kind of situation?" Louella asked before glancing into the clearing and seeing two robed figures, however her eyes narrowed when she saw what Latoya was talking about. "Orichalcos Duelists, don't those assholes know when to quit?"
"If they did I don't think Sarah Baker, Frank Goff and Billie Prince would've been taken off the island yesterday." Latoya responded before handing Rock's lead over to Louella. "Louella, you go deal with Rocky's droppings and leave him in our dorm room, the last thing I want is for him to get hurt by those assholes."
"Will do." Louella responded with a nod before tugging on Rocky's lead to get him to follow her. "What's the plan once he's back in the dorm room?"
"You come back here and we make sure those assholes don't hurt anyone." Latoya responded as she turned to Louella. "It's the least we can do after what their organization has done to several students, I'll stay here and keep an eye on them."
"Got it." Louella responded before walking off.
*a bit later*
Now the meeting had winded down the students, aside from Theresa who had homework to do, were waiting for Nicola's brother to show up outside the main building so that Nicola could have her duel with him in the Obelisk Blue Duel Field.
"Where is he?" Nicola wondered as she checked the time on her watch. "It's nearly lunchtime."
"Relax Nicola, the ship isn't due to take the student's family members home until 3:00pm." Lance reassured her before checking his watch. "Even if your duel against him goes on for as long as his duel against Andreas last night you'll still have plenty of time for a duel." Lance commented whilst, unbeknownst to them, Louella tossed Rocky's dog poo in the bin not far from them.
"Okay Rocky, I know your excited but we need to get you back to our dorm room." Louella commented as she turned to the dog who didn't seem to be paying attention to her. "Maybe I should ask one of our neighbors to check in on him whilst we're dueling them, I think Rachel mentioned that she owns a dog back home so she and Beth would probably be our…." Louella trailed off before Rocky bolted catching her off guard and dragging her towards the students. "Ugh, Rocky not again!" Louella complained as she struggled to maintain control of the dog. "Where did Latoya's parents take him to be trained? Clown University?!"
"Look if he doesn't show up you can always send him a text." Andreas pointed out but before they could say anything else Rocky stopped near the group and started barking excitedly. "And I'm guessing that this is the dog we keep hearing about."
"I don't think there's any other dogs on the island so I think that's a safe bet." Lance commented as Louella doubled over to catch her breath. "He's a bit of a handful, isn't he?"
"You could say that." Louella said once she caught her breath. "Sorry, I was taking him back to our dorm room because we don't want to risk him getting hurt."
"Why would be at risk of getting hurt? There aren't any other animals on the island last I checked." Andreas responded as he patted the dog on the head. "And who do you mean by "we"?"
"Oh right, well it's a bit of a long story…..." Louella trailed off before face-palming. "I should've thought of this sooner, whilst me and Latoya were walking Rocky on the north side of the island we ran into a pair of Orichalcos Duelists, Latoya is back there keeping an eye on them."
"What?!" Andreas asked before frowning. "They don't know when to quit do they? It's a good thing that you came to us Louella."
"Well, it wasn't by choice." Louella responded as she motioned to Rocky. "If you guys want to come with me and give me and Latoya support knock yourselves out but we still need to drop off Rocky in our dorm room, I don't want to explain how Latoya's dog got seriously injured to her parents."
"Give me the lead and your room key, I'll drop him off for you." Chloe responded as she stepped forward and Louella gave her a skeptical look. "I know you're taller and probably stronger than me but I own two large dogs myself including a Labrador and I've walked both at the same time on my own."
"Are you sure that they weren't walking you?" Louella asked and Chloe shook her head. "Okay, our dorm room number is 239, Chelsea will probably be able to show you the way since we live next door to her girlfriend but then again you did walk past it earlier." Louella responded before handing Chloe Rocky's lead and her room key. "Do me a favor and leave my key in the lock when you drop him off so that we're not locked out?"
"Sure." Chloe responded with a nod as Chelsea walked up to her. "Think you can get Beth and Rachel to keep an eye on him for us Chelsea."
"Shouldn't be too hard, Beth's a dog lover and she did mention that Rachel owns a dog as well." Chelsea responded before the two girls started walking Rocky towards the girl's dorm whilst the others walked off towards the North Side.
*a bit later*
"Okay, it's been twenty minutes and Louella hasn't shown up yet." Latoya thought as she leaned against a nearby tree and folded her arms, so far, the two Orichalcos Duelists that she had discovered with Louella with Rocky's help hadn't moved much and Latoya was doing her best to keep herself from being seen. "It's not that far a trek from here to the Ra Yellow's Girl's Dorm so either Rocky saw other students and got excited or she decided to get additional help."
"You know Latoya, I don't think those guys are going anywhere." Marie's voice rang out and Latoya looked up briefly spotting her walking down the path with Jared behind her. "You could probably start the duel against them on your own."
"Yeah well, I don't feel like going on a suicide run so…..." Latoya trailed off before she turned her attention back to them. "Who are you? Are you with them?!"
"Don't insult me." Marie responded as she walked up to the taller girl. "I used to be with them but those days are behind me, I admire your guts for wanting to face those guys but you're going to need more than that to beat them."
"You see this Blazer?" Latoya asked as she pointed to her Ra Yellow Blazer. "I worked my way up through Osiris Red to get to Ra Yellow and me and Louella not only made it to the Quarter Finals of the tournament but we came this close to knocking out two Obelisk Blue Students, as far as I'm concerned you should be more worried about them!"
"We're not doubting you or your girlfriend's skills as duelists." Jared chimed in and Latoya glanced at him. "But what we are saying is that you'll need a lot more than Bealzeus and Black Brutdrago to beat them."
"Black Brutdrago alone got us to the Quarter Finals and I almost beat two Obelisk Blue teams after I summoned Bealzeus." Latoya scoffed as she glanced at them. "I think we'll be fine and besides, I don't take dueling advice from strangers who haven't even introduced themselves!"
"I'm Marie, he's Jared." Marie responded before holding out two cards. "Satisfied?" Marie asked and Latoya hesitated before taking the cards.
"Okay, first card is clearly a Gemini Support Monster, I'll see what Louella thinks when she gets here." Latoya thought not noticing that Marie and Jared had already walked off by this point. "The other card…" Latoya trailed off before her eyes widened. "What the?! This is the other card I was looking at when I brought Bealzeus but passed over because it cost too much, where the hell did she get it?!" Latoya thought before adding it to her deck. "I'm not usually one to except cards from strangers but…" Latoya trailed off before realizing that they had gone. "Who do they think they are? Batman?!"
"Latoya!" Latoya's train of thought was cut off when she heard Louella's voice and she looked up seeing her girlfriend running up with the others students. "Sorry for the wait, Rocky dragged me over to them and, well, I figured I may as well tell them what we knew."
"That's fine." Latoya commented before turning to them. "So, you guys okay with me and Louella taking the spotlight on this one?"
"You found them so I don't see why not." Brandon responded with a nod before the lesbian couple entered the clearing.
"Lou, don't ask where I got this card." Latoya whispered to Louella as they entered the clearing. "But it might help your deck." Latoya added before handing over the card.
"Thanks, I guess." Louella responded with an uneasy look on her face before looking at the card. "Whoa, I've been saving up for this card for months! If I draw it in this duel, we'll have it in the bag for sure!" Latoya thought before adding it to her deck as the others took up positions around the clearing. "Before you ask, Chloe and Chelsea volunteered to take Rocky back to our dorm room and they got Rachel and Beth to look after him."
"Good, at least he's out of harm's way." Latoya commented with a nod before they turned to the duelists.
"You know, we were expecting real competition." One of the duelists commented with a feminine accent and whilst most of her body was covered by the robe it was easy to tell that it was a female duelist. "Not two Ra Yellow washouts who got eliminated from the tournament yesterday."
"These two Ra Yellow washouts almost beat two Obelisk Blue Teams." Latoya asserted as she glared at the two duelists. "And we'll beat you guys as well!"
"You can certainly try but you'll fail!" The other duelist, this time a male with what sounded like an English accent, responded with a chuckle. "And as the old saying goes, "almost only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades"."
"That may be true but that won't stop us from beating you." Louella responded as the two Ra Yellow students activated their duel disks. "And here's another old saying for you, get your game on!"
"Seriously Lou? You used that instead of "it's time to duel"?" Latoya whispered to her girlfriend as a large sweat-drop rolled down her head. "You do know Jaden has pretty much disowned his old catch phrase these days, right?"
"Eh, I always thought his catchphrase got way to much hate anyway." Louella responded as their opponents activated their duel disks. "Same thing with Mass Effect 3's original ending."
"Oh, don't get me started on that!" Latoya whispered back with an annoyed look on her face before turning to their opponents. "So, do you have names or will we be calling you "English guy" and "cocky chick"?"
"I'm Allister and she's Silvia!" The English Duelist responded before removing his hood revealing that he had short blonde hair and blue eyes. "And you'll last as long as that introduction did."
"And that's if we don't decide to drag out your suffering." Silvia added as she removed her hood revealing her long silver hair and blue eyes. "But just to make things interesting I'll let Louella go before me followed by Latoya, then Allister and then back to Louella."
"That's fine by me!" Louella responded before they drew their cards. "What's the worst that can happen? Scratch that, the worst that could happen is that we taste defeat." Louella thought before looking over her hand. "I set two cards facedown and I summon Blazewing Butterfly!" Louella played the cards and the flaming butterfly appeared on the field ready for battle (4/1500/1500). "That ends my turn." Louella announced and Allister drew his card. "Not usually a big fan of leaving Blazewing out in attack mode but the tag team rules do dictate that our opponents must wait a turn before they can attack so he'll be safe, plus on my next turn I can use my Normal Summon to activate his Gemini Mode and his effect to bring out something stronger!"
"It's your lucky day." Allister said before holding the card he drew up. "Because your souls are about to join the Orichalcos! I activate Terra-Forming to search through my deck for a Field Spell Card."
"In other words, the same move that practically every Orichalcos Duelist has used." Latoya commented as she rolled her eyes whilst Allister searched through his deck using his duel disk. "Why don't you try something original?"
"Famous last words." Allister responded as he added the spell card to his hand and sent the other spell card to the graveyard whilst his deck auto-shuffled. "I activate the Seal of the Orichalcos!" Allister played the card and the two Ra Yellow Students braced themselves as the seal enveloped them both, when they looked up they saw their opponents smirking sadistically as the pentagram appeared on their foreheads.
"You know, when I first saw this card being used on TV, I thought it looked scary." Latoya commented and her opponents grinned. "But up close and personal? It looks like something from a bad anime filler arc!" Latoya added and her opponents face-faulted whilst the others laughed, Louella could barely contain her laughter herself and Latoya could've sworn she saw Jared and Marie trying their hardest not to burst out laughing.
"You'll eat those words you little brat!" Allister spat out as he and Silvia angrily got back to their feet. "I "Normally I'd say that Latoya should consider herself lucky that I can't attack." Allister added before grinning. "But she isn't going to get that luxury, I activate a Spell Card called Surprise Round!" Allister played the card which depicted a twenty-sided die being rolled by a cloaked figure. "This Spell Card can only be used on my first turn but if my opponent doesn't have any monsters my monster can attack directly!"
"I don't know if you've noticed but I have Blazewing Butterfly on my side of the field." Louella pointed out as she folded her arms. "So, in other words…..." Louella trailed off before it hit her. "Latoya hasn't even taken her turn yet!"
"Exactly! Kobold Soldier, attack Latoya's life-points directly!" Allister commanded and the soldier charged towards Latoya…...
"Didn't think I'd have to use this monster so early but I negate Kobold Soldier's attack by summoning Battle Fader from my hand!" Latoya announced as she played the card, however the hologram never appeared and when Latoya checked her duel disk it read "Error: can't use card due to effect" where her life-point counter was. "What?!"
"Oh, didn't I tell you?" Allister asked with a chuckle. "During the turn that Surprise Round is active the attack can't be negated." Allister added and Latoya barely had enough time to pick Battle Fader back up before Kobold Soldier slashed her bringing her life-points down to 6100. "Furthermore, when Kobold Soldier inflicts battle damage I can add another monster to my hand!"
"Latoya, are you okay?!" Louella asked and Latoya grunted in pain before pulling herself back to her feet as Allister searched out his deck.
"It's a lot more painful than it looked on TV, that's all I'm saying." Latoya responded before returning Battle Fader to her hand. "What's worse is that they know I have Battle Fader in my hand, at least that's not the only monster I have waiting in the wings."
"I set one card facedown and end my turn." Allister announced and Latoya drew his card. "And before you get any ideas, no, you can't attack me in retaliation."
"Just because I'm in Ra Yellow doesn't mean I'm a raw rookie, for one thing you're more likely to find them in Osiris Red." Latoya responded before looking over her hand. "I summon Armageddon Knight!" Latoya played the card and the knight clad in dark armor appeared on the field ready for battle (4/1400/1200). "And I activate his effect!" Latoya added before she started inputting commands into her duel disk.
"I know Latoya's deck well and she's probably sending Dark Resonator or another Dark Type Tuner Monster to her graveyard." Louella thought as Latoya sent the card to her graveyard. "Which means that she either has Dark Spider or something similar in her hand, let's hope she survives long enough to summon Bealzeus."
"I set two cards facedown and end my turn." Latoya set the two cards down and Silvia drew her card.
"This is too easy, it won't be that long before we capture their souls!" Silvia thought before looking at her drawn card. "I set two cards facedown and I summon Elven Mage!" Silvia played the cards and a monster that resembled the Celtic Guardian (4/1400/1200) appeared on the field, however unlike Celtic Guardian he was clad in a long blue robe and was carrying a spell book (4/1500/1200) and his attack increased to 2000 thanks to the seal. "Fortunately for you I don't have a copy of Surprise Round in my hand so you're safe, for now!"
"Summon all the monsters you want, we'll still beat the two of you!" Latoya responded with a frown and Silvia grinned.
"I'd like to see you try! I end my turn." Silvia announced and Louella drew her card.
"Okay, this isn't going as well as I'd like." Louella thought as she glanced over at her girlfriend's side of the field. "Latoya's already taken damage and they have some decently powerful monsters on their side of the field, here's hoping that I can help turn things around." Louella thought before looking at her drawn card. "First I use my normal summon to activate Blazewing Butterfly's Gemini Mode!" Louella announced as Blazewing started glowing. "Next I activate Foolish Burial!"
"That combo's been overdone so many times that it may as well be the Gemini version of the Lord of Dragons combo." Allister commented as Louella inputted commands into her duel disk and sent the card she was looking for to her graveyard. "Why don't you show us something new?"
"Maybe because there's no point in reinventing the wheel when the wheel works just as well?" Louella asked as her deck auto-shuffled. "But since you're a know-it-all why don't you narrate this next move for me?" Louella added as Blazewing Butterfly disappeared from the field.
"Your using Blazewing Butterfly's effect to special summon a powerful Gemini Monster from your graveyard with its effect active, likely Giga Plant since you used it in your last tournament match." Allister responded as Louella retrieved the monster from her graveyard and Giga Plant appeared on the field (6/2400/1200). "And what do you know? I was correct!"
"Gloat all you want, your about to take damage." Louella responded before pointing to Kobold Soldier. "Gigaplant, attack Kobold Soldier!" Louella commanded and the plant fired its vines at Kobold Soldier before ripping it in half and bringing Allister's life-points down to 7500. "That's first blood to us and Silvia's monster is next up on the chopping block!"
"Kobold Soldier may be gone but he isn't forgotten, I activate my trap card Death Saving Throw!" Allister announced as his trap card flipped up depicting a 20-sided die being rolled on a table. "Tell me, are you familiar with the game Dungeons and Dragons?"
"We were wondering when you were going to bring that up." Louella responded as she folded her arms and Latoya nodded in agreement. "Not only are we familiar with it but we've been trying to get a campaign going at the school, why do you ask?"
"You won't get a chance to start that campaign! Anyway, as you can probably tell our decks are based on that game." Allister responded before pointing to his trap card. "For example, Death Saving Throw requires me to roll a D20, if I roll above a ten an extra copy of the monster you just destroyed gets summoned, if I roll ten or lower than the top card from my deck gets sent to the graveyard." Allister added as a giant D20 appeared on the field and was subsequently rolled.
"So, does that have special conditions for a natural twenty or a natural one?" Latoya asked as she folded her arms. "Like, send two monsters to the graveyard with a natural one or summon two monsters with a natural twenty?"
"For someone who has the least amount of life-points between us you are very eager to take more damage." Allister responded before the die landed on a five. "To answer your question, no but it doesn't matter." Allister added as he sent the top card from his deck to the graveyard. "You'll be defeated soon! Now end your turn!"
"I was getting to that." Louella responded before looking over her hand. "I end my turn." Louella announced and Allister drew his card.
"I can't defeat that overgrown garden weed right now." Allister thought before looking over his hand. "But I can defend against it." Allister added before setting a monster in defense mode. "Do your worst."
"Your funeral." Latoya responded before drawing her card. "A deck based on Dungeons and Dragons? Either I2's got some kind of working agreement with Wizards of the Coast or Wizards of the Coast gonna sue somebody! Regardless I have to focus unless I want to end the weekend that me and Louella came out of the closet by being trapped in the Orichalcos." Latoya thought before looking at her drawn card. "You may be using new cards but I'm sticking to an old favorite of mine, Allure of Darkness!"
"How cliché." Allister responded as he rolled his eyes. "Why don't you bring something new to the table." Allister added as Latoya drew her cards and pocketed one of her monsters.
"Considering that it was recently unlimited there's no reason why I shouldn't use this old card." Latoya responded before looking at her drawn cards. "Great, I drew my second copy of Dark Resonator, I could use this with Armageddon Knight but I don't have any level Seven Synchros and whilst the monster I just banished is D.D. Scout Plane that thing doesn't return to the field until the end of my turn and I don't have anything that can ensure that it'll survive until the end of Allister's next turn." Latoya thought before she realized what the other card she had drawn was.
"Are you going to make a move sometime soon or should we order a snack?" Silvia asked with a mocking yawn and Latoya rolled her eyes.
"It's called strategizing, maybe you should try it sometime." Latoya responded before looking at her card. "It's the card that short girl gave me! I don't know why she's giving away rare and powerful cards like this or how she and that Jared guy got on the island in the first place but I'm not complaining." Latoya thought before making her move. "I set one card facedown and I switch Armageddon Knight to defense mode." Latoya announced as her facedown card appeared on the field and her knight crouched down. "And I end my turn."
"You made us wait all that time for that?!" Allister asked with an annoyed look on his face as Latoya retrieved her monster from the breast pocket on her blazer.
"Not exactly! Since I banished this monster on my turn I can bring back D.D. Scout Plane in defense mode!" Latoya added as the small spherical shaped machine appeared on the field (2/800/1200) and Allister rolled his eyes.
"Hardly an improvement." Allister responded before looking over his hand. "Perfect!" Allister thought before turning back to Latoya. "Especially compared to the move your girlfriend made! I guess we know who wears the pants in your relationship."
"I'm not even commenting on that." Latoya responded as a sweat-drop rolled down her head. "How did you know that we're gay anyway? We've only told a handful of people and that was in our dorm!"
"We have our ways." Allister responded before picking up a card. "I sacrifice my facedown monster to summon Vampire Lord." Allister played the card and whilst ignoring the double takes from the two Ra Yellow students a tall pale man in blue clothing appeared on the field (5/2000/1500) and his attack increased to 2500 thanks to the seal. "You look surprised?"
"Well yeah, that's hardly a new card! That thing's been around since the original Battle City!" Louella responded with a confused look on her face. "It's not even that good a card nowadays!"
"And before you point it out, yes, we know there's vampires in Dungeons and Dragons, we play it remember?" Latoya added with a frown. "But why use that old card? Especially when I2 recently released a who archetype of vampires!"
"I'll show you why!" Allister responded before holding up the monster he had set. "The monster I sacrificed was Vampire Spawn (2/500/200) and when it is sacrificed so I can summon a level five or higher Vampire monster I can banish it to let that monster attack twice!"
"I think we might have jumped the gun a bit on trash talking that monster." Latoya commented with a nervous gulp and Louella nodded in agreement whilst Allister grinned in response.
"Best part is? The effect only expires when that monster is sent to the graveyard!" Allister added before pointing to Gigaplant. "Vampire Lord, attack Gigaplant!" Allister commanded and the vampire spread his cloak open causing a swarm of vampire bats to fly at Gigaplant destroying the monster and bringing Louella's life-points down to 7900. "But that's not all! Since I just inflicted damage with Vampire Lord…."
"You can declare one card type and I have that send that type from my deck to the graveyard." Louella responded as she got ready to input the commands. "Come on! We may not have been born when that card was released but we know that card's effect well enough!"
"Lou, if there was a teacher here you would've just got detention for making them feel old." Latoya responded as a large sweat-drop rolled down her head and Louella laughed nervously.
"That's if you survive this duel, which you won't." Allister responded before grinning. "And since I know how Gemini Decks work I'm declaring Trap Card!" Allister added and Louella frowned before she inputted commands and sent the trap card to her graveyard. "And that's not all, Vampire Lord, attack her life-points!" Allister commanded and the vampire prepared his attack…...
"Remember Battle Fader?" Latoya interrupted him as the small fiend appeared on the field in defense mode (1/0/0). "Since you didn't use Roll Initiative this time I'm free to negate your attack on my girlfriend!"
"Stall all you want, it won't save your girlfriend when Silvia's turn begins." Allister responded before looking over his hand. "I end my turn." Allister announced and Louella drew her card.
"Their right! Latoya's move brought us some time but how much time?" Louella thought as she looked at her hand. "Battle Fader is unlimited but the odds of her having three copies of Battle Fader ready to go in her hand as astronomically high! I'm going to have to hope that I drew something good." Louella thought before looking at her drawn card. "Swing of Memories, this could work." Louella thought before playing the card. "First I activate Swing of Memories to bring back Blazewing Butterfly!"
"Going back to your old tricks, are we?" Allister asked as Blazewing Butterfly returned to the field. "It won't help you in the long run! Especially when that overgrown garden weed is the only monster in your graveyard." Allister added with a smirk as Blazewing Butterfly's Gemini mode was activated and it was sent to the graveyard.
"It might be an overgrown garden weed but Gigaplant is still stronger than Silvia's Monster!" Louella responded as her plant returned to the field. "Gigaplant, attack Elven Mage!" Louella commanded and the plants roots ripped apart the mage bringing Silvia's life-points down to 7500.
"You fool! That's what I wanted you to do! When Elven Mage is destroyed by battle he takes the attacking monster with it." Silvia responded and Louella's eyes widened as Gigaplant vanished from the field again. "And what do you know? I have a copy of Death Saving Throw ready to go!" Silvia added as the trap card flipped up, this time the die landed on nineteen and another Elven Mage appeared on the field. "And unless your girlfriend has another Battle Fader in her hand your done for!"
"I set one card facedown and end my turn." Louella announced and Silvia drew her card. "This will hurt a lot but if I can pull it off we can win this!"
"Allister, you know what I'm about to ask." Silvia commented and Allister nodded as Vampire Lord floated over to her. "There's one little detail that Allister forgot to mention."
"We're not going to like this detail, are we?" Louella asked and Silvia nodded.
"Vampire Spawn's effect lasts as long as Vampire Lord is on the field." Silvia responded and Louella's eyes widened. "And unfortunately for you, that means your doom, I summon Kobold Soldier!" Silvia played the card and the warrior returned to the field. "Do the math, your finished Louella."
"Bring it bitch!" Louella snapped at her and Silvia grinned.
"Your funeral, Vampire Lord, attack her life-points twice and for the record I'm declaring traps both times." Silvia announced as Vampire Lord unleased the two swarms for vampire bats reducing Louella's life-points to 2500, Louella barely had enough time to send the two cards to her graveyard before Silvia pointed to Elven Mage. "Elven Mage, attack!" Silvia commanded and the mage unleased her attack hitting Louella in the chest and bringing her life-points down to a mere five-hundred.
"I'll make you pay for this you bitch!" Latoya snapped at her and Silvia grinned.
"On your own? Good luck! Kobold Soldier, finish her!" Silvia commanded and the soldier charged towards Louella…...
"Activate Trap Card Enchanted Javelin!" Louella shouted out as her trap card flipped up and before Silvia could respond the soldier was hit in the chest by a glowing javelin causing Louella's life-points to shoot up to 2400 just before the attack hit bringing her down to 500 again and knocking her on her backside. "Latoya's going to make you pay for that but not alone." Louella grunted in pain as she got back to her feet. "I'm going to feel that one in the morning."
"Don't scare me like that, okay babe?" Latoya asked as she wiped some sweat from her brow. "I was nervous enough when I came out of the closet yesterday."
"Heh, sorry." Louella said with a nervous grin as she gathered up her cards. "But it'll be worth it! I activate Shock Draw!"
"Wait, how much damage did you just take?" Allister asked and Louella grinned.
"Never was that good at math but I'd estimate about 7900 life-points, round that up to eight thousand and that means I get to draw eight cards." Louella responded before she made her draws, however when she drew her eighth card her eyes widened. "That's the card Latoya gave me and not a moment too soon!"
"So you brought yourself a little time and eight cards, it won't matter because Allister's turn is before yours and he can finish you off!" Silvia responded and Latoya grinned. "Why are you grinning."
"Because your attacks let me activate a trap card of my own, Wrath of Beelzeus!" Latoya activated the trap which depicted Beelzeus of the Diabolic Dragons letting lose a breath attack. "Now me and Louella have to skip our next battle phases in exchange but since you just inflicted over four thousand points of damage whilst I have at least one Dark Type Monster on the field all of your monsters get banished." Latoya added and her opponents' eyes widened in shock. "Or, as we D&D players call it, a TPK."
"Wait…." Silvia trailed off as her monsters vanished from the field one by one.
"Now you do get to use Kobold Soldier's effect, won't help much since you've used your normal summon but still." Latoya added and Silvia grumbled before inputting her commands. "But you know who can't resolve their effect? Vampire Lord! He needs to be in the graveyard for his effect to resolve."
"We know." Silvia grumbled as she added the monster to her hand. "I end my turn." Silvia announced and Latoya drew her card.
"I may not be able to attack this turn but I can bring out the big guns! I summon Dark Spider!" Latoya played the card and the small black spider appeared on the field (1/0/0). "And I use his effect to special summon Dark Resonator from my graveyard!" Latoya added as Dark Resonator appeared on the field (3/1300/300). "Next I activate my spell card Dark Ritual." Latoya announced as her facedown card flipped up depicting several robed men getting ready for a ritual of some kind. "It's not a Ritual Card obviously but it allows me to tribute one Dark Type Monster like D.D. Scout Plane to summon a monster that's at a lower level than the monster."
"And since you used a similar combo in our last tournament duel I think I know what your summoning." Louella commented with a nod as D.D. Scout Plane vanished from the field and Dark Sea Rescue appeared on the field (1/0/0).
"Exactly! So, let's get this show on the road! I tune Dark Resonator with Battle Fader, Dark Spider, Dark Sea Rescue and Armageddon Knight!" Latoya announced as the five monsters leapt into the air for the Synchro Summon and once the bright flash faded Beelzeus appeared on the field with a growl (10/4000/4000). "You have no idea how lucky you are that I can't attack this turn." Latoya added as she drew a card thanks to Dark Sea Rescue. "I set one card facedown and end my turn."
"Latoya?!" Latoya winced when she heard her mother's voice and glanced over her shoulder, sure enough her concerned parents had joined the group.
"Mom? Dad?" Latoya said as she turned to them with a nervous gulp. "What are you doing here?"
"Well we came to collect Rocky to find two of your neighbors looking after him." Her dad explained and Latoya gulped. "They said that you were in an Orichalcos Duel and we came as soon as we could."
"Yeah, we had Chloe over there." Latoya said as she motioned to Chloe. "Take him back to our dorm room, she owns a Labrador herself so she assured us that she could handle him on the lead."
"And did you?" Her dad asked as he turned to Chloe.
"He was a handful but I was able to control him." Chloe responded with a nod and Latoya's parents nodded.
"We left Rocky with those two girls, we were more concerned with you Latoya." Her mom added and Latoya grinned, however her mom frowned when she saw the monster on her side of the field. "Where did you get that card? I heard it was one of the most expensive ones."
"Crap, I knew I should've summoned something else!" Latoya thought with a gulp. "I'll explain after the duel, besides we have it in the bag, right Louella?"
"Right." Louella nodded as her girlfriend turned to her. "So, Allister, are you done quaking in your boots and are you going to make a move?"
"Getting to that!" Allister snapped before looking over his hand. "I have to pass." Allister added and Louella drew her card.
"Latoya's parents sure know how to time an entrance!" Louella thought before looking over her oversized hand. "Now to put Shock Draw to good use!" Louella thought before playing a card depicting Tuned Magician glowing as it faced down a Blue Eyes White Dragon. "I activate Emergency Gemini! Since I have under a thousand life-points I can Special Summon one Gemini Monster from my hand with its Gemini mode active and you know? He's on the artwork so let's bring out Tuned Magician!" Louella played the card and the magician in green robes appeared on the field (4/1900/1700).
"That means he's treated as a Gemini Monster." Allister realized and Louella nodded.
"That's right and for my normal summon I bring out Dark Valkyria!" Louella played the card and the dark angel appeared on the field ready for battle (4/1800/1500). "I'm not going to waste any time either, I tune Tuned Magician and Dark Valkyria together!" Louella announced as the two monsters leapt into the air for the Synchro Summon and once the flash faded Black Brutdrago appeared on the field (8/3000/2000). "It's like Latoya said, you're lucky that I can't attack this turn, I end my turn." Louella announced and Silvia drew her card.
"Mirror Force! Perfect! Granted I can't summon a monster because I need at least two monsters on my field to summon The Beholder but this will buy us some time." Silvia thought before setting the card. "I set a card in defense mode, do your worst."
"Don't say I didn't warn you." Latoya responded as she drew her card. "Then again, why would I warn an Orichalcos Duelist? Your group has done nothing but make the students' lives hell!" Latoya added before looking at her drawn card and grinning. "In fact, you can call this justice, I activate Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy your facedown card!"
"NO!" Silvia yelled out as the tornado ripped her facedown card to shreds briefly revealing it to be Mirror Force in the process.
"To bad, that could've saved you." Latoya added before nodding to Louella. "Can I borrow Brutdrago?"
"He's all yours." Louella responded as the dragon flew over to her side of the field.
"Let's even up the score a bit, Brutdrago, Beelzeus attack Silvia's life-points!" Latoya commanded and the two dragons unleashed their attacks bringing Silvia's life-points down to 500. "I'd wish you luck Allister but that would require me liking you! I end my turn."
"I have to pass, I have no cards I can play." Allister responded and Louella drew her card. "Silvia will undoubtedly be eliminated unless the card she retrieved with Kobold Soldier's effect has a similar effect to Battle Fader but I'll survive and I have the ultimate weapon in my extra deck." Allister thought before looking at his deck. "The Tarrasque, Jack isn't the only one with an infinite attack monster in the organization."
"This duel's over." Louella announced as she folded her arms. "And I'm giving you just one chance to surrender."
"Why would I surrender? Silvia may be on her last legs but I still have most of my life-points!" Allister responded with a smirk as he folded his arms. "Do your worst."
"Don't say I didn't warn you, Latoya, I need Beelzeus." Louella added and Latoya nodded as her dragon floated over. "I equip Beelzeus with Megamorph!"
"W…...wait a second." Allister said with a nervous gulp as Beelzeus's attack points shot up to eight thousand. "Can we talk about this?"
"No." Louella responded before pointing to Silvia. "Brutdrago, finish her off!" Louella added before pointing to Allister. "Beelzeus, finish him off!" Louella commanded and the two dragons unleashed their attacks bringing their opponents life-points down to zero.
"Great job guys." Chloe complemented the two girls and they grinned. "You took a nasty hit Louella, are you feeling okay?"
"Nothing a trip to the nurse's office can't fix, thanks." Louella responded with a nod as she clutched her side in pain whilst the Orichalcos claimed their opponents' souls. "And if you guys need additional firepower for your fight against those bastards you've got it."
"Likewise." Latoya nodded in agreement before her parents cleared their throats. "Oh, right, that." Latoya thought before turning to her parents. "Yeah, I know, that card's a bit past my spending limit."
"A bit? Latoya that card costs a lot of money." Her dad said as he folded his arms. "You know why we put that limit in place to begin with."
"Err, actually, we don't." Chloe chimed in with a sheepish look on her face and the others nodded. "Can you fill us in?"
"Long story short, I maxed out my dad's credit card buying most of the cards in my deck." Latoya said sheepishly before turning to her dad. "But you know what? The Christmas money I said I was saving up for something? This was it and I still had a hundred bucks left over and this card has helped me standout among similar decks at this school."
"Is that true?" Her dad asked and the others nodded. "Well, you used it well in that duel, just don't make a habit of it okay?"
"Sure, thanks dad." Latoya nodded in agreement. "I guess we'd better go pick up Rocky." She added before walking off with her parents.
"Man, that duel was down to the wire." Jared said with an impressed whistle. "By the way Marie, I have a question."
"Go ahead." Marie said as the two teens walked off.
"Why have you been giving away those cards?" Jared asked and Marie turned to him. "They're not exactly common."
"Because the students haven't exactly fought the cream of the Orichalcos Duelist crop up to this point." Marie responded as she glanced over at the students. "They are talented duelists but if they want to defeat the Orichalcos Duelists once and for all they need new strategies and cards."
"Can't argue with that." Jared shrugged his shoulders. "So, we're sleeping together at the campsite again?" Jared asked and Marie gave him a funny look. "I should've worded that better."
"Especially considering how dumb the question is." Marie responded before the teens walked off.
*later*
It was now past midnight and most of the students where in bed either alone or with their loved ones, however for one teacher and his assistant it was a different story all together.
"Last week before summer break, I shouldn't have left the paperwork this late." Martin sighed as he signed the paperwork, most of it concerned who would be up for promotion at the post summer break promotion duels but there were also the whole graduation duels at the end of the week. "Still need to talk to Tyler, Miranda, Theresa and Brandon about their opponents."
"Another coffee sir?" Martin looked up and saw Misty standing in the doorway with a hot cup of coffee in hand and he grinned.
"If anyone needs it it's me." Martin nodded in response before taking the drink. "How far along are you on paperwork? I'm pretty much done."
"Same here, not sure when I'll go to bed." Misty responded before taking another sip, a few seconds later she felt a sharp pain in her head and lowered it for a second before turning to Martin. "Hey, I know it's late but do you have time for a duel?"
"Anything to take my mind off this paperwork." Martin nodded in agreement before getting his duel disk out. "Whereabouts?"
"How does the Obelisk Blue Duel Field sound?" Misty asked and Martin nodded before leading the way, whilst his back was turned however Misty slipped a card into her deck but said nothing as she followed him.
