The Other Girl
A/N: Just me dropping by after being swamped with school work. Inspired by the tragic thought that there are people who think Usa/Mamo would cheat on each other. Tragic, I know! Hope you guys enjoy!
. . .
My lips fold between my teeth and my gaze falls to the counter. The sight to my right just simply...isn't there. I refuse to believe it. Instead, I just curl my fingers around the frosted glass of the chocolate milkshake Motoki place in front of me a few moments ago and concentrate on counting the sprinkles sinking into the whipped cream.
One...Two...Three...Fou-
"Why so glum, Odango?"
Mamoru's voice causes me to jump and the glass in my hands hits the counter with a grotesque snap. Shards of glass collect and the milkshake pools to create a steady stream of sticky liquid to run down the counter into my lap. The chill causes me to flinch but I refuse to make eye contact. "Gl-glum? Where would you get an idea like that?"
"Are you okay?"
A soft feminine voice causes me to look up in astonishment. His girlfriend would dare stoop to the level necessary to talk to me? I would have expected a haughty laugh not...concern. "I'm fine," I murmur, my eyes glued to hers.
"No you're not, Odango." Mamoru groans and from the corner of my eyes I see him flag over Motoki. "Can we have some more napkins over here?"
But my eyes remain on the other girl. Her green eyes are stunning and I can see what he sees in her. She's so...pretty. And she looks so mature. It's no wonder why he chose her over me. Not that he knew I was in the runn-
"Ahhh!" The feel of hands at my thighs causes my legs to kick out and make contact with a body. Opening my eyes I am faced with Mamoru with his own face pinched together. And that's when I realize who I hit. "Gomen nasai, Mamoru-san! I-I didn't mean t-to kick you."
He remains silent for another moment. "Unazuki-chan...tell your brother to bring some ice over as well."
Sister? I blink and look to the brunette who scampers after Motoki to the workroom before fixating my eyes back to Mamoru. "That's Motoki's sister?"
"Well, yeah." The napkins covered in chocolate fall from his hands and he grasps at the side when my foot made contact. He studies me with an arched brow. "Who did you think she was?"
A flush runs up to my cheeks. "N-nobody. Just...surprised me. That's all." And as he shakes his head in disbelief and focuses instead on his wound I look down to my lap. The chocolate is already starting to dry and I can feel it forcing my legs to stick together. But that's not what I focus on. A smile stretches between my hot cheeks. She's not Mamo-Chan's girlfriend. I still have a change.
. . .
A/N: Ahhh! I actually finished something that wasn't a school assignment! Hope to be back soon! Please tell me what you think-especially since I've been out of practice! Haha.
