Ros walked into the outer office of the hospital mortuary wishing she was anywhere else. Lucas remained silent as the technician they had spoken to went to find his boss.

"It's not Harry."

"I know." Ros stated calmly. "I want to know who it is and how he came to have Harry's wallet."

Lucas nodded. The thought of their boss being mugged was disturbing. Although not a young man, Harry Pearce was more than capable of taking care of himself. He leant against the wall as a middle aged woman in a blue lab coat appeared.

"Good afternoon. Terry says you are looking for me." Lucas nodded as Ros flashed her ID card.

"Adult male, middle aged brought in believed to be Sir Harry Pearce." Ros watched as the woman frowned.

"Only the next of kin can identify the deceased. You need to speak to the police." The woman narrowed her eyes. Ros stood to her full height radiating ice from every pore. Lucas stepped back knowing his wife was going to win this argument.

"Not when it's a case of national security."

"You believe he's a terrorist?"

"I don't believe anything until I have the facts. Now I have been told my boss is dead. I can assure you he is not." Ros glared. "So, I am going to identify the dead man." The pathologist nodded once before ushering them through to the back.

Malcolm poured coffee into his mug, deeply concerned about the events of the last few hours. He had been stunned to find out what had happened- somebody assuming Harry's identity was incredulous. He shook his head as Alec appeared in the kitchenette.

"Milk still drinkable?"

"Apparently" Malcolm answered taking a long sip of his coffee. The Red Dwarf mug seemed to be out of sink with the serious Malcolm they all knew. Alec pulled his phone out of his pocket as it began to ring. Malcolm watched as he visibly paled. "Problem?"

Alec glared, passing the phone to him. Malcolm stared at the photograph that had arrived in his inbox. His eyes widened as he realised what he was seeing.

"Good Lord!"

Alec punched the wall before storming out of the kitchen. Malcolm called his name before heading into the main Grid to find Adam.

"So." Ros looked at the corpse. "There's nothing about this dead man to suggest he has any ties to us or Harry."

Lucas shook his head. "Might be worth checking DNA. They could be brothers." Ros raised an eyebrow.

"That'll go down well. Excuse me Harry, not only did someone lie about your death, we think you have a secret twin." Ros deadpanned.

"When you put it like that." Lucas shrugged. Ros glared. "There has to be something though."

"Well, we're not finding it here." Ros snapped as Lucas answered his phone.

"Ruth?" He listened. "Right, we're on our way." He ended the call before ushering Ros away. Marching alongside him Ros glared.

"That was Ruth." Lucas explained. Ros raised an eyebrow. "Alec got a picture message on his phone."

"And?"

"It showed Juliet's dead body."

"What?" Ros unlocked the car as she turned to him. "The witch is mortal?"

"Apparently so." Lucas paused. "Unless?"

"There's more than one idiot playing silly buggers. Where's Alec?"

"Malcolm traced him to the prison. She's been in an open prison since Christmas. How difficult can it be to get to her?" Lucas fastened his seatbelt as Ros drove.

"We better stop Alec before he gets himself killed."

"You think Juliet is dead?"

"I don't know but she had enough enemies and even cats only have nine lives." She pushed her foot to the accelerator as she tried to work out what was going on.

Harry sat at his desk as he tried to focus. A man was dead. A man that had been assumed to be him. Now a body matching Juliet's description had been taken to the prison mortuary. He cursed under his breath, wondering if the woman who had caused so many problems was actually dead.

"Harry." He looked up to see Ruth standing in the doorway of his office. She twisted her wedding ring around her finger, her voice on the edge of breaking but emotion held in check.

"Yes." He watched as she stepped further into his office, it was almost as if she was afraid he wasn't real, that their reunion had been a figment of her imagination. "Ruth, close the door. What is it?"

"The man in the morgue. I've been looking for him."

"Go on."

"His fingerprints were in the Met's file. I have an ID for him. I'm certain it's him. I can't see how it couldn't be." Harry let her babble as he stepped around his desk towards her.

"And?"

"He's ex FSB. Professor Vladimir Kruschevic." Ruth watched as the recognition filled his eyes. "He was head of science at the KGB. Sort of their version of Colin." Harry nodded.

"Like me, a relic of the Cold War."

Ruth flashed him a look as he smiled slightly.

"He was arrested in Manchester in 2009 for trying to meet an underage girl and having indecent movies on his computer. Served 18 months. He was also involved in a secret soviet experiment back in the 1980s."

"Don't tell me."

"Cloning. Or more specifically masking, Harry. These people." She bit her lip. "Harry; you and Juliet investigated them back in the 1990s."

"Among others."

"Harry. You were tortured by them. Harry, they." She closed her eyes. "I read Juliet's notes. As much as I hate her."

Harry nodded. "People wanting me dead is an occupational hazard. You know that. I've been a spook most of my adult life. I don't think they were specifically targeting me and Juliet this time."

Ruth raised an eyebrow. "You think it's the Romanov collective trying to mop up their ness? Tie up loose ends?" Harry nodded, hoping his theory was plausible. Ruth bit her lip as Ros and Lucas returned to the Grid.

"They were known to be in charge of the masking project. "But." She continued as Harry frowned

"Ruth, get everyone in the Briefing Room. I think there's a very good chance Piotr Romanov is coming back to cover his tracks."
