Dimitri groaned as he moved closer to Beth. He groaned as he felt the pain shoot through the muscles of his back and shoulders. "Beth? Stop messing." He hated the way she looked so pale. Elizabeth Ann Bailey was not quiet, ever. His stomach churned as he tried to calm himself. Carefully he reached out a hand brushing the hair away from her eyes.
"Beth? Cmon Beth."
"Urgh. Surrup." Her eyes remained closed as Dimitri smiled.
"You're injured."
"Mmn."
Dimitri tapped his ear piece, glad the small device seemed to have survived. "Beta 6 to base."
"What's happened?" Calum's voice came through the airwaves. "You never use call signs."
"Beth's injured - head and chest I think. The flat was rigged." He heard Calum swear as the realisation Beth could be seriously hurt reached the Grid. Ruth's voice was next in his ear.
"Paramedics on route. Erin and Alec see nearest to you. Back up on the way."
Dimitri coughed. "I need a doctor not back up."
"Help is coming. Keep Beth quiet and still until it gets there. She's relying on you Dim."
He gently brushed more blood stained hair away from her face before struggling to move closer to her. Beth opened her eyes as she felt him move towards her.
"Dim?"
"It's ok. I'm here. Help is on the way."
"K." Beth winced as she tried to take a deep breath. "Not ready."
"Beth? It's ok." Her eyes locked with his.
"Sorry." She whispered as Dimitri felt tears spring to his eyes. "Dun want to go." She gasped as her eyes fluttered closed.
"No." Dimitri felt for a pulse before rolling her onto her back. He ignored the pain in his back as he started CPR. "Cmon Beth. This isn't the end. Cmon!" He heard sirens in the background but prayed they weren't too late.

Will sat down near the guards station on the train. He knew he was going to have to be careful if he was to get back to Thames House with the memory stick. Staring out the window at the rain he noted the reflection of other passengers in the glass. He just hoped he could get back in one piece. Sighing his thoughts turned to his father - a man he hadn't met but knew was a legend. He sighed heavily hoping he would have made the dead spy proud.

Adam crossed the road toward the Manchester City arena as Zaf spoke on his mobile. The blonde spook was totally focused on getting to Lee's sister. The woman had to be found. There was no question about it in his mind. Find Nicola and find Lee.
"That was Ros."
"Yeah?" Zaf put the phone back in his pocket.
"Beth and Dimitri are injured."
"Badly?"
"Dimitri cuts and scrapes. Beth went into cardiac arrest."
Adam swore.
"Dimitri and then Erin were able to resuscitate her but she's in ITU on life support." Zaf couldn't keep the anger out of his voice. Beth was a good Officer and had quickly become a friend.
"She's not looking great. Dimitri is with her."
"So we are currently three officers short. Beth, Dim and Lucas."
"We've stopped Armageddon with less staff." Zaf pushed the glass door in front of him open hoping that the solicitor's office would be able to help. Adam hung back, surveying the area as he took in the news his bubbly blonde but sharp friend might not make it out of intensive care.

"Harry?" Ruth slipped into his office, almost unnoticed as he paced the floor, his mobile phone apparently stuck to one ear. Ruth paused. She recognised the signs. Harry was very close to losing his temper, she knew he blamed himself for the situation but there was nothing Ruth could see he had to reproach himself for. He ended the call.
"Infernal woman."
"Me or the Home Secretary?" Ruth tilted her head as he turned to her.
"Crowther."
"Erin and Alec are interviewing Tanya now. Will is in the way home." She stepped towards him. "I've gone through Beth's file. There are no next of kin. No blood relatives at all. She's an only child of two only children."
Harry nodded. "Poor girl."
"She does have a family. Just not biological." Ruth sighed. "Never really thought of her being alone before today. She's only got us on the Grid." Ruth's eyes filled with tears as Harry crossed the room to her. A moment later she was in his arms as he held her tightly, tears springing to his own eyes as he tried not to think about the young woman who had made her home on the Grid.
