End?
Adam watched as Zaf calmly walked towards Lee. The younger man gripped the railings at the edge of the pavement as if his life depended on it.
"Lee."
"I'm not sorry." Lee addressed the pavement as Zaf nodded. "You brought this on."
"Me personally or me as in the rest of the world?" Zaf paused, suddenly noticing the heavily padded jacket his target was wearing. "Nicola is safe, by the way."
"You used my sister!"
"You killed people. I think that makes you the bad guy." Zaf paused. "We told your sister the truth. Because of you my friend is on a life support machine."
"Lies."
"Beth Bailey. Your friend, or so she thought. Massive head trauma." Zaf paused. "For what? Finish Grandpa's work. You do know Romanov was a psychopath? He ordered his daughter to be killed. Your mum. Helena died on his say so."
"Lies." Lee tensed.
"Why? What is there to be gained by lying to you? Beth is in a coma. Tanya's flat blew up. You killed people."
"I did what I had to."
"Breaking Lucas' legs? Leaving him in a car boot to die?" Zaf paused as Lee moved his hand from the railing to the zip on his jacket. "Did that have to be done too?"
Lee shook his head and looked away angrily.
"My grandfather was a visionary."
"Yeah?" Zaf paused, knowing Adam was a few feet away. "And what are you?"
Lee turned to him as a single gunshot ran out, hitting Lee directly in his head, killing him instantly. A woman screamed as Zaf hit the pavement covered in the younger man's blood. Ears ringing he was vaguely aware of Adam dragging him away from potential danger.

A single tear slipped from Ruth's eyes as she read the 'Eyes Only' document in front of her. She knew Harry and Juliet had been undercover more than once; had been captured more than once but seeing the list of injuries each had suffered at the hands of Romanov and his comrades made her feel physically sick.
"Bastards." She mumbled, knowing even the most advanced interrogation techniques they used would never amount to the torture her husband and the former Spook had endured. The cold wet cardigan that still cling to her was forgotten as she realised exactly how Harry had come to have the scar on his left bicep and shoulder blade. Taking a deep breath she closed her eyes, preparing to read on when warm hands began to massage her shoulders.
"I thought I'd find you here."
"Harry, Romanov."
"Adam called. Lee is dead."
"What?"
"Before you ask,Zaf and Adam are fine. Lucas has arranged for Nicola to be looked after and they are all on the way back to us."
"Dead."
"Sniper by the looks of things."
"Shit."
"Yes." Harry paused as she looked up at him.
"Then we have no links to anything. If the man who I was told was you hadn't been found with your wallet on then we would never have found out what was happening. Beth would."
"Beth is a strong girl. I've sent Tariq to check on her and Dimitri." He felt Ruth turn slightly before standing in front of him.
"How are you so calm? These people."
"Are evil. I know." Harry stepped towards her. "And they will be back. The Romanov collective are a relic of the old Eastern Block, the Cold War. Maybe we've pushed them back. Maybe not but it's finished. It's over."
Ruth wipes a tear away as Harry pulled her into his arms. "You're freezing."
"Yeah _ " she closed her eyes as he held her. "Harry," she pulled back slightly to look him in the eye. "It's not over, is it? They'll be back."
"Maybe." Harry held her gaze. "Only next time, next time we'll be ready."
