Chapter II
~Later that day~
The sound of heels softly clicking away echoed down the almost empty halls of the hospital as Rin calmly walked towards the maternity ward, looking for the room that belonged to one of her friends who had given births recently, and had promised to visit before she got discharged from the hospital. While walking, she bypassed a room that have occupants that are fairly loud, making snips and bits of a conversation drift over the closed door and into the hall.
"Ma'am I need you to calm down..."
"...you have no right..."
"I sincerely wish that..."
"...could you please just shut up..."
Intrigued, Rin stopped walking and stood a couple of feet away from the door and continued to listen to the conversation going on inside the room. As she listened she found that there was a third voice that she hadn't heard before, it sound like a man but she couldn't be sure over the closed door.
"Honey, calm down and listen to what the doctor has to say."
"Stay out of this! This has nothing to do with you!"
"I beg your pardon I have every ri-"
"Just shut up! I refuse to give up my child in something I have no say in!"
"If you would just-"
"No! Can I please just be left alone for a moment?"
"Sweety-"
"Please."
It was quiet for a moment before the click of the door opening snapped Rin to attention, and within a minute she was hiding inside the women's bathroom across the hall. She held her breath as she heard the sound of who she was now certain was the doctor and the man from the room talking.
"Should we go ahead with the papers?" asked the doctor.
"Yes, she's young and doesn't know what she wants yet, she'll be glad later on down the road."
"I see. I'll tell the nurse to continue drawing up the papers."
"Make sure you leave the parenting unknown."
"Of course..."
Once she was sure they were far away, Rin stepped out of the bathroom and made sure the coast was clear. Taking a moment to recollect herself and shake herself together, Rin took a deep breath, straighten her clothes and walked toward the door across the hall. Taking another deep breath to steel herself, she raised a small hand and knocked briefly on the door. When she heard no reply she raised her hand to knock again but was surprised when the door swung open and she found herself staring into the blue eyes of a girl that couldn't have been older than seventeen.
"Are you just going to stand there or are you going to come in?" The girl asked with a hint of amusement and impatience in her voice.
Shaking herself out of her stupor, Rin stepped forward and waited for the girl to step aside before stepping inside the room. She waited patiently as the girl closed the door behind her and she was in front of her before following after her. As she walked followed the girl further into the room, Rin noticed that the room was incredibly too big for a normal middle-class family to pay for.
"So what can I help you with Miss?"
"Koizumi."
The girl nodded that she understood. "What can I help you with Miss Koizumi?"
"Oh...um...I couldn't help but overhear your um... conversation."
The girl's eyes narrowed as she looked at Rin. "Is that your reason for being here?"
"Yes...I mean no...sorry let me introduce myself," shaking her head to clear it of any last remaining hesitancy, Rin squared her shoulders and continued. "My name is Koizumi Rin and I believe I can help you with your current...situation."
