Chapter XII
Sesshomaru remained silent and after not receiving an answer after a minute of waiting, Rin shrugged her shoulders and walked away. It wasn't long until she heard the tell-tale signs of footsteps following her and after a long day of work, Rin was tired, and being tired lead to crankiness, so there was no surprised when Rin turned on her heels and snapped "What!" at Sesshomaru with fire burning in her eyes. When she didn't receive a reply, Rin let out a shriek of frustration and watched with a small amount of satisfaction as Sesshomaru held back a wince at the sudden noise before she walked right up to him and poked him in the chest with a finely manicured finger.
"Look here, Sesshomaru-san," Rin began in a surprisingly calm voice as she continued to poke Sesshomaru, "I'm not in the mood to be played with, so if you have something to say, say it now before I leave, otherwise leave me alone."
"You will stop that, this instant, you insufferable onna," Sesshomaru said with a slight tick on his brow. When Rin didn't immediately remove her finger from him, Sesshomaru grabbed her hand, albeit gently, and forced her back into a car. Rin watched with widened eyes as Sesshomaru leaned down, ran his nose down her neck, before vanishing as if he was never there.
Blinking slowly, Rin snapped of her stupor, drew in a shaking breath before collapsing against the car behind her. 'What just happened?' Rin thought as she slowly regained work of her limbs, pushed herself off of the car, and began walking towards her car. 'Maybe I shouldn't have snapped at him, I mean he did nothing wrong besides annoy the hell out of me.' Shaking her head to rid herself of those thoughts, Rin unlocked her car, opened the door before settling herself in the driver's seat. Turning on the car, Rin closed the door, before sifting the car into gear and driving out of Koizumi Inc. Destination, home.
Rin arrived home to a completely dark and silent apartment. Wondering if the girls went to sleep, Rin quietly took off her shoes and crept silently down the hall to Kazumi's bedroom, and finding it empty, went to her bedroom. Upon opening the door, Rin was left in complete shock at the sight that greeted her. For up on her bed sleeping with her teddy bear, was Kazumi, all bundled up and adorable. Withholding a squeal, Rin quickly backtracked out of her room after closing the door and after quickly checking one of the guest bedrooms to find Kagome sleeping, went to the kitchen to make herself a quick snack to eat.
Not long after Rin finished making herself some egg salad sandwiches, she heard footsteps making their way to the kitchen, and judging by how loud and heavy they were, belonged to Kagome. Turning her head her head to look at Kagome's figure as it appeared in the entrance to kitchen, Rin couldn't help but muffle a giggle as she took in Kagome's appearance. Kagome in all her sleepy eyed glory was dressed in one of her overly large t-shirts, had on her fluffy white bunny covered slippers, had her hair sticking up in all directions, and was half covered up in what looked to be paint. Rin watched as Kagome huffed in annoyance before sitting across from her on the table.
"Don't you look all nice and dingy," Rin said as she took a bite out of one of her sandwiches.
"Stuff a sock in it, I'm not in the mood" was Kagome's reply as she laid her head down on the table. Still amused by her friends actions, Rin calmly continued to eat her sandwich as she waited for Kagome to say what had her in such a bad mood. After a couple of minutes passed and Kagome still hadn't spoken, Rin wiped clean her hands on a napkin and calmly asked Kagome what was bothering her. All she received was a mumbled, "Bad dream." Knowing that Kagome wasn't telling her the whole truth but not wanting to push her too far before she was ready to speak about it, Rin left it alone, for now.
With a shrug and a shake of the head, Rin stood up, grabbed her plate and dumped it in the sink before walking out of the kitchen. Pausing at the entrance to the kitchen, Rin said, "You can spend the night if you want, and when you're ready you can tell me what's really bothering you." Without another glance in her direction Rin walked out of the kitchen and made her way to her room, practically hearing her bed calling her.
After a quick change into her nightwear, Rin slipped under her bedcovers and with a quiet "oyasumi" to Kazumi went to sleep.
When Rin woke up the next morning it was to the movements of Kazumi snuggling up against her. With a stretch and a yawn, Rin slowly opened her eyes to find herself looking up into the golden eyes of her daughter. Blinking slowly in surprise, Rin gave Kazumi a blank look before smiling widely and pulling her down so that she was on top of her and began to tickle her relentlessly. The sound of laughter and squeals filled the room as both mother and daughter enjoyed the other's presence.
With one last laugh, Rin finally let Kazumi go and watched as she gleefully ran out of her arms until she was at the edge of the bed before sprinting down the floor and happily running to the door. Rin, seeing her chance, threw the covers off of her and began chasing after her daughter laughing all the way to the living room where she cornered her between the couch and, with an evil glint in eyes dove down, drew her into her arms and began to tickle her relentlessly again.
"Yamete kudasai!...Yamete Mama!" Kazumi said inbetween laughs. With one last running of the fingers against Kazumi's ribs Rin stopped and picked Kazumi up. After they both regained their breath Rin walked inside the kitchen and sat Kazumi down on top of the counter before going around the kitchen gathering the ingredients needed to make breakfast.
Rin was going to treasure every last minute she had with Kazumi before she had to go to work and enjoy it while lasts.
