A/N: The long awaited chapter of MOC! Quite a few things were changed to fit the story better so I recommend you read the other chapters first to understand what is going on.
But without further ado here's chapter 13 of Marriage of Convenience.
Chapter XIII
The click clack of heels hitting the glass floor echoed down the corridor as Rin walked down the halls of her building in search of the break room. After another minute of walking, Rin finally heard the sound of multiple voices up ahead and with a small sigh of relief, quickened her steps until she was standing in front of an open door that showed her employees enjoying their lunch break. Walking inside the break room, Rin was instantly met with silence. With a sigh and an inward roll of her eyes, Rin continued on until she stopped in front of the refrigerator, pulled it open and took out a thermos bottle that had her name on it before closing it and turned to look at the employees staring at her. With a raised eyebrow and a twist of the cap on her thermos, Rin glared at them until they looked away before taking a sip of her drink. After another quick survey of the room, Rin walked back out of the room and began walking down the hallways again, this time in search of her office.
When she arrived in her office ten minutes later she was interrupted by Aki knocking on her door saying she had a visitor. Waving at her to bring them in, Rin sat down behind her desk and waited patiently for Aki to bring in the visitor, seeing as she had nothing else to do until Kagome came over and brought Kazumi with her. At the sound of the door opening Rin sat up straight in her chair and waited for this mystery person to show themselves, and who she saw was the last person she was expecting to see.
"Taisho-sama, I was not expecting you," said Rin as she stood up and bowed at the waist in greeting to her elder.
"Now, now, enough with the formalities Rin-chan, just call me Touga or 'Sho-chan as you used to when you were younger," Touga said as he walked around the desk and pulled Rin into his arms. Rin, having not expected that, stiffened for a moment before returning the hug. They stayed like that for a minute before Rin stepped out of his arms and put some distance between the two of them. With new eyes, Rin took in Touga's appearance, and instead of a man that should be in his mid-fifties, a man that didn't look a day over thirty greeted her.
Blinking her chocolate coloured eyes, once, twice, the image of a youkai didn't fade away. Instead of a man with black coloured hair cut to frame his face, he had silver-white hair pulled into a top-knot, that stopped just an inch of touching the floor. The kind, warm brown eyes that she remembered him having as a kid were a golden colour instead. His once flawless face that had no imperfections were ladened with a single blue coloured strip on both cheeks. With an inward sigh, Rin thought, 'Next thing you'll know is that everyone I've known my entire life has some type of youkai blood in them.'
"Not that I'm not happy to see you Touga-san, but what are you doing here?" Rin asked as she sat back down and watched with a cautious air around her as Touga sat down across from her and gave her a small smile.
"I'm here for nothing else but to do business, my dear," says Touga as he relaxed on his chair and almost chuckled at Rin's confused face.
'That's what I'm afraid of,' Rin thought before saying outloud, "What sort of business, Touga-san?"
"It's been brought to my attention that you've just taken office, is that correct?" At Rin's nod he continued. "As you well know, your father and I had been great friends before his untimely death." Again, that received a nod from Rin. "As you already know, my dear, is that your father and I, although friends, were businessmen and as businessmen we discussed a great many things, and among those things was the future of our children."
At this Rin tensed up, with a frown on her face and a more cautious air around her Rin asked, "What are you trying to get at Taisho-sama?"
Touga frowned at Rin's use of formalities but continued anyway. "What I'm trying to say is that your father and I made a deal. A deal turned into a contract that states that when his youngest and my oldest are of age, they'll marry and produce an heir for both companies."
Instead of the screaming and yelling that Touga was expecting, he was shocked when Rin merely wiped her face clean of all emotions and nodded her head at him to continue. Something completely shocking, since he remembered a girl with a strong opinion of having no one but herself control her life, having driven both her parents insane with that independent streak of hers and her brother into hysterics.
Clearing his throat, Touga said, "I believe that, that time is now, Rin-chan, seeing as you've inherited your father's company and my son has been making a name for himself for being a ruthless businessman for quite a while now."
"May I see this contract, Taisho-sama?" Rin asked.
Nodding his head in agreement, Touga pulled out a manila folder from his suitcase, something that Rin had failed to notice when he first entered, and handed it to her. Rin slowly snapped open the seal before pulling out the two paged contract that her father and Touga made without consulting her first and asking for her opinion. Slowly reading it through, Rin barely held her anger in check as she continued to read through what this contract was made out of. Putting the documents down before she had the urge to rip them apart, Rin looked at Touga with fire in her eyes before calmly repeating some of what the contract stated.
"Koizumi, Rin must hereby agree to marry one Taisho, Sesshomaru by the age of twenty-two in order to receive her inheritance in full...She will not receive her percentage of the company unless either Taisho, Touga or Koizumi, Hideaki say otherwise...Koizumi, Rin and Taisho, Sesshomaru must have an heir within the first two years of their marriage...Koizumi, Rin must have a full-blooded heir by the time she is twenty-six...The heir must be male, if one cannot be provided, then the oldest will inherit the company after either Koizumi, Rin or Taisho, Sesshomaru retire...This contract was signed on the twenty-first of August of 2002 by Koizumi, Hideaki and Taisho, Touga."
While Rin was reciting the contract, Touga noticed that her calm exterior was slowly replaced by a scowling woman ready to tear into anyone that got in her way. Shifting slightly in his seat, Touga waited until Rin finished before speaking again. "This is your copy Rin, do whatever you please with it, Sesshomaru already has his, and is awaiting your answer to decide on what to do." Opening his mouth was a big mistake Touga made, for the glare that Rin leveled on him made him almost flinch in fright. Key word being almost.
"Who the hell do you think I am?!" exclaimed Rin as she stood up and leaned over the desk in order to have a clearer view of Touga as he shifted almost unnoticeably in his chair under her glare. "Do I not have the right to decide my own future without someone planning it for me?! Do I not have the right to my own life without someone pulling my strings?! Do I not deserve the right to my own happiness?!"
"Of course you do, Rin-chan, but you must think about-"
"Think about what?!" Rin interrupted. "Spreading my legs open so that I can "secure" my future!"
"That's not what I'm saying at all, and you know it. What I'm saying is-"
"To marry someone I don't love without any conscious thought to if I have someone in my life at the moment! To marry someone I've only met a handful of times in my life!"
"Rin-"
"MAMA!"
