Chapter XIX

When Kazumi woke up the next day she was confused as to where she was. She remembered going to sleep in her Papa's room, and now she was in a different location. Trying not to panic, she took in a deep breath, just like her Papa taught her to do the night before, and began to shift through the scents surrounding her to find one she knew. Almost as soon as she took in that breath though, her mind supplied for her the information she needed. She was back home! And her Mommy was making breakfast!

Throwing the sheets off of her, Kazumi jumped out of bed and ran towards the kitchen; the noise her Mommy was making, as well as the scent, was drawing her in like a honeybee to honey. Within seconds of her running out of her room, she was standing in front of the kitchen doorway watching her Mommy fret around the kitchen preparing breakfast.

"Ohayo Kazu-chan," her Mommy greeted without looking up from what she was doing.

Not surprised that her Mommy knew she was there without her even having to look up, Kazumi exclaimed, "'hayo!" with a big smile on her face as she made her way to where her Mommy was standing.

Finishing with pouring the last of the oatmeal mixture into the muffin pan, Rin bent down and placed a warm kiss on Kazumi's head before asking if she wanted to help Mommy with breakfast. Nodding her head enthusiastically, Kazumi looked up at her Mommy and waited for her to pick her up. Once placed upon the island counter, Rin rolled up her sleeves and showed her what to do.

Nodding her head to show she understood, Kazumi carefully wet her hands before taking a handful of the processed mixture and carefully rolling it into a ball. "Like this?" Kazumi asked as she held up the small ball up for inspection.

Looking over at her daughter's handiwork, Rin gave her a huge smile and told her, "Hai, just like that." Beaming in appreciation and pride, Kazumi placed the ball on the plate beside her before happily continuing to make the breakfast balls to help her Mommy. Once she was assure that Kazumi knew what to do, Rin grabbed the muffin pan besides her and walked over to the stove and placed it inside the already preheated oven.

Humming quietly under her breath, Rin moved the eggs cooking in the frying pan around so that it could cook on every side, and although she was in the counter over, she kept a watchful eye on her daughter at all times. She didn't want her to fall over and hurt herself. Seeing that the eggs were done, she removed the frying pan from the burner and scrapped the eggs onto the plate already filled with mini pancakes and sausages. Turning off the burner, Rin looked toward Kazumi to see that she only had a few more balls to make.

Asking if she wanted help, Rin watched as her daughter shook her head, no. Humming to tell her she understood, Rin watched as Kazumi carefully rolled the breakfast mixture into balls before just as carefully placing it on the plate. Leaning against the counter, Rin had to smile at the determined frown that graced Kazumi's face. In so many ways she was just like her father, but in many more ways she was just like her. The cute little frown on her face showing she was her daughter as well as his.

While Kazumi was concentrating on finishing her work, Rin grabbed another plate so that she could begin putting Kazumi breakfast on it. She grabbed two of the four mini pancakes off of her plate and placed it on her daughter's. Doing the same for the eggs and sausage, Rin arranged it so that when Kazumi was done all she had to do was walk over to Kazumi, pick her up, and place her in her chair. When Kazumi finished she did just that.

As Kazumi was eating, Rin grabbed the plate of breakfast balls, grabbed two, and walked over to the refrigerator before placing them in the fridge to set them. Moving over to the stove, she checked on the muffins and seeing that they were ready, turned off the oven. Leaving them in there until they were done eating, Rin went to join her daughter. She had some quality time to spend with her since she barely spent any with her the day before.

They had some fun to do.

The opening of the door roused Sesshomaru from his thoughts long enough to sense that both his father and brother decided to grace him with their presence. If he was the type to do such a thing he would have rolled at their predictable actions. He was just fortunate that his father hadn't decided to involve his honourable mother in this, for if he had, he would have never heard the end of it.

"Sesshomaru!" the booming voice of Touga echoed throughout his home and Sesshomaru released a soundless sigh as he pinched the bridge of his nose in annoyance. His father had a love for theatrics it seemed.

The appearance of his father and brother in his doorway, almost had him twitching in his seat. That smug look on the half-breed's face meant nothing good was coming his way. He was right.

"Sesshomaru I demand to see my granddaughter," Touga said as he strolled in as if he owned the place, the hanyou following right behind him.

"You have already seen her," Sesshomaru replied as he looked down at the work he had been looking over before those two came and decided that it would be best he save when he was ahead, and not have to deal with it them in his home.

"Aa, that was but a glance," Touga replied as he took a seat. "Call Rin and tell her to bring her over."

"I will do no such thing Chichi-ue," stated Sesshomaru. "If you wish to spend time with her, call Koizumi-san yourself."

"You know as well as I that I do not have her number."

"Look it up."

"Sesshomaru-"

"Oi, dickhead," his brother called as he comfortably leaned against a bookshelf and looked at him with a scowl etched onto his face. "Just call the wench and get it over with."

"Silence Inuyasha," Sesshomaru snapped. "This does not concern you."

"Sure it does," Inuyasha replied with a shrug. "I want to know who was dumb enough to lay with you."

"You-"

"Boys!" the sound of their father's voice had both brothers stop and glare at each other. "Hand over your phone Sesshomaru," Touga demanded.

Holding back the growl just edging to come out, Sesshomaru threw his phone at his father and watched in annoyance as he went through his contacts. After he found the number he was searching for, he hit call, and put it on speaker.

It took a while but Rin finally answered right before it went to voicemail.

"Moshi moshi," Rin spoke into the phone although her voice sounded distracted.

Clearing his throat to see if that would gain her attention, Touga said, "Aa Rin-san am I interrupting something?"

"Taisho-san?" Rin questioned, attention fully on them now.

"Hai. I was wondering," a slight chuckle from Inuyasha had Touga delivering a glare in his direction, "if we could be properly introduced to my granddaughter."

"We?" Rin asked before telling a Mitsuko to drop something. In which that Mitsuko demanded to know why she needed to drop what she had. They listened as Rin quickly explained why she shouldn't disturb the "woodland" creatures living in the park because they could become aggravated and start biting them.

Clearing his throat again, Touga drew the girl's attention back to him again. "Aa gomen Taisho-san, if you want to meet us we're at the park between Meguro and Shinagawa."

"Hai, that's fine. We'll see you then."

"Ja," without waiting to hear anything further Rin hung up but not before they heard her call for a Miyako to leave something alone.

Blinking in astonishment, Touga looked up from the phone, spared his sons a glance, and, without another word strolled out of Sesshomaru's office.
