First Day (part 2)
After Sango and Miroku left for the night, Sayuri ushered her nieces to bed not wanting them to be tired for their first day of school. After saying their goodnight's Kikyo, Kagome, Rin, and their cousin Souta made their way to their designed rooms on the second floor.
Instead of going to sleep like they wanted to, they began to unpack their belongings and putting them away. Even though the house looked small on the outside, it was pretty spacey in the inside, though the rooms weren't that big it had enough space to have a full size bed, a dresser or two, and enough space to move around freely. Though the house was designed only to have at least three bedrooms, the Higurashi's had added to it during the last ten years of the girls' absence.
Every room in the Higurashi household was defined by color, except for that of the living room and kitchen which were painted in a light cream colour along with the hallways. Grandpa Higurashi's room is the only room painted white while the others were arranged with the color the person liked most. Sayuri's room was painted a pale yellow after she and her late husband couldn't decide which color to paint it, Souta's was an evergreen color, Kikyo's a light red, Kagome's a bluish purple, and Rin's was a pale orange.
After they were done packing all the Higurashi sisters' crashed down for the day that awaited them when the sun rose over the horizon.
The sound of someone knocking on her door woke Kikyo up, and she briefly looked at the clock on her nightstand and held back a groan it was barely pass five in the morning. She and her sisters' had one and only one thing in common they could all agree on and that was that they were notmorning people.
"You awake dear?" she heard her aunt ask through the closed door.
Holding back the growl that wanted to escape, she replied with groaned out, "Hai!" before throwing her head back down on the pillow. She rubbed the sleep from her eyes before standing up in bed and pushing the blankets off of her and leaving the comforts of her bed. She did a big, long stretch to get the blood flowing through her body, before walking over to the closet and pulling out her outfit for the day. Laying it down on the bed, she left her room to freshen up in the bathroom.
She found that with all the noise going on in the second floor and that of what she could hear coming from downstairs, that everyone was awake and getting ready for the day ahead of them. When she finished in the bathroom she crossed paths with Rin who was still rubbing the sleep from her eyes, her clothes and towel in hand. They said nothing to each other as was common in the mornings for them, as they were too tired to have a reliable and understandable conversation.
Kikyo walked back to her room before closing the door behind her and began getting ready for the day ahead of her. She was done dressing in under twenty minutes-something that surprised her since she usually lasted longer with how long it took to style her hair-and was down the corridor that lead to the stairs when she ran into Souta.
"Ohayo, Souta-kun," Kikyo greeted in passing, stopping only long enough to let Souta pass by her before continuing on her way.
"Ohayo, Kikyo-chan!" Souta replied back as he dashed around a corner. Her mouth turned up slightly in a small smile as she turned the corner that held the stairs.
She descended the stairs and made a beeline to the kitchen where she smelled something cooking over the fire. She found her aunt Sayuri laying down a plate of English styled pancakes down in the middle of the table, where a plate of scrambled eggs and a jar of orange juice already laid. Kikyo looked up from where her eyes had strayed to the food in time to see her aunt Sayuri smile in her direction before finishing up on preparing the table for the morning meal.
"Ohayo gozaimasu," Sayuri greeted as she turned to greet the rest of the family as they entered the kitchen dining room. Greetings came from all around as everyone sat around the table and began eating the breakfast prepared for them.
"Oishii," Kikyo, Kagome, and Rin exclaimed in pleasure as they took a bit out of the pancakes in front of them. Their eyes were closed in bliss as they continued to eat the delicious treat they had the pleasure of eating.
"Sayuri-obasan please teach me how to make this," Rin said as she opened her eyes to look at her aunt with eyes full of wonder.
"Of course," Sayuri replied with a smile.
The rest of the morning meal was spent in pleasant conversation before a knock resounded on the door. Kagome was standing to get it when Souta beat her to it. The sound of the door sliding open was heard coming from the entryway.
"Miroku and Sango are here!" Souta yelled. The girls' stuffed the rest of their breakfast in their mouth before reaching for their bag and exiting the kitchen with a wave of goodbye to their aunt and grandfather. They met Miroku and Sango outside the house and together, they began to walk out of the shrine grounds.
'It's so beautiful,' the girls' thought as they looked at all the colorful sights surrounding them. They took this all in, experiencing the freedom to go where they pleased here, where they didn't get to in America. As they walked Miroku and Sango filled them in on what to expect when they entered school grounds and how everyone will feel and react to the sight of them.
"Don't expect to be treated like queens just because your family runs one of Japan's largest corporations," Sango began. "They will either love you or hate you like anyone else in the world. They will judge you on how you act and how you treat others, they will also judge you on the abilities you have and what you can do with them, judging by your family line you guys come from a powerful line of priests and priestesses. Do you know which category you stand on?"
"Kagome and I are level five priestesses with the percentage of shooting up to fifty arrows in under twenty minutes, last up to fourteen hours without rest in hand to hand combat, and at least twenty hours in fight with a sword or any other type of weapon," Kikyo explained to them. "If we continue our training we will be able to reach level six in under a year. Rin on the other hand is a level-"
"Miroku! Sango! Wait up!"
They turned around to find a boy dressed in sweats and an overly large t-shirt jogging to catch up with them. Up close the girls' noticed he was an Ōkami youkai, he had the pointy ears as that of any youkai, but the personality of a jerk as he proved to them at the moment. He ignored them in order to speak to Sango and Miroku of something inconveniently unimportant.
Kagome cleared her throat to gain his attention as she noticed Sango and Miroku weren't comfortable conversing with him at the moment. Once she had his full attention she thrusted her hand for him to take and greeted him with a forced smile, "Hi, I'm Kagome and this are my sisters Rin and Kikyo, nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too?" He answered although it sounded like a question.
"Let me introduce you to Kite Koga he's...a friend of ours," introduced Miroku.
They saw that Koga was about to say something in reply but something made him stop because one moment he was besides them and the next, he was running inside the school as if the devil was after him.
"Is he always like this?" questioned Rin staring after the wolf-boy in curiosity.
"Unfortunately, yes."
The rest of the conversation was put on hold as they entered the school grounds and instantly felt eyes lock onto them. The girls' instinctively tensed before slightly relaxing and looking around the school that they would spend most of their time in for the next year or so.
"Welcome to Takahashi High," Miroku began getting in front of the girls as he gestured around him with a flare of cheeky seriousness. "Home of the Dragons and top academical school in all of Japan; far and wide we receive people from all over the country trying to get in, but few do. Only the top and best are accepted inside its walls." With a bow, Miroku finished his speech with a smile before both him and Sango began showing the girls' around the school, showing them everything and hiding nothing. Answering any and all questions they had with enthusiasm that shocked many of the people crowding around the halls.
Many of the kids that noticed the usual way that Miroku and Sango were acting, pointed it out to their friends, before long almost everyone were staring at the girls with curiosity and wonder. Before any of them gathered the courage to question the two on who the girls were and if they were the ones the principle had mentioned yesterday, the bell rang. With one last look at the girls, students began making their way to their homerooms, class was about to start.
