First Day (part 3)

~The Night Before: Taisho Residence~

The slamming of the door alerted the Taisho family of the return of the missing member of the family. Miroku and InuYasha looked at each other for a moment, before silently agreeing with each other that they wanted to be nowhere near the heir to the multimillion dollar Taisho Corp. Quickly excusing themselves from the table they left the monarch and patriarch of the family to deal with him.

Izayoi and Sugimi Taisho silently argued who would deal with their eldest and unwittingly Sugimi stood up from the table and walked out of the kitchen. It wasn't hard to figure out where his son was, all Sugimi had to do was follow the growls. Opening the door to his eldest room without announcing his presence, Sugimi watched as his son went through the process of removing his clothes from his overnight bag and putting them away, not caring if any of them tore from his aggravated handling.

"Sesshomaru," the deep resonating voice of his father alerted Sesshomaru that he wasn't alone and wouldn't be left alone any time soon. Growling an answer at him, he waited for his father to speak while trying to calm his raging beast down.

The nerve of his mother, trying to marry him off so that the "family line would remain pure." Taking a few deep breaths to calm the fuming beast he turned his full attention to his father, running twitching fingers through his silver-white. The minute his father started talking about business related topics, was the moment his beast stopped pacing around its cage and demanding for blood.

...

~12pm: Takahashi High~

Sango and Miroku went throughout the school picking up the girls from their designated classes before they made their way to the cafeteria for lunch. Miroku and Sango lead them to a table towards the back of the room which had the guy they had met in the morning and a black haired girl with startling silver-grey eyes sitting there.

Looking around the room, Rin noticed that everyone had their own group and that anyone that was anyone had almost half of the student body staring at them. Besides the table where they were sitting, there was one other that was gaining others attention. A group that had three guys and two girls, which were looking in their direction. Turning to the person next to her, without really looking at who it was, Rin asked to see if what she was seeing was real or if she was just imaging it.

"No, they're looking at us," Kikyo said making Rin look over her shoulder to see that Kikyo was also staring them.

"I wonder why," Rin stated. "I would think that everyone would have gotten it out of their system by now."

"Maybe you should ask," Kagome said butting into their conversation. "I know at least one of them from my class, although we haven't actually talked."

"You're crazy if you think I'm going over there," whispered Rin under her breath. "Maybe we should invite them over?"

"Great idea Rin-chan!" Kagome exclaimed drawing the attention of the rest of the table. Waving franticly to the group four tables across from them to gain their attention, she made a motion for them to come over. When that only her narrowed eyes, she rolled her eyes and mentioned for them to come over again.

"Higurashi-san I don't think that's a good idea," the black haired girl said.

"Why?" all three Higurashi's asked at the same time. Afterall, that was their surname and the girl hadn't specified who she was addressing.

"Because we're not in good terms with them," Sango commented.

"It's too late now," Kagome remarked. "One of them is coming over here. See?"

Looking over to the table that had the girls so fascinated, Sango could see that Kagura was making her way over to them, and that she didn't look too pleased either.

"What do you want?" Kagura asked in a dry tone once she was close enough for the girls to hear. Kagome, being the one that had called them over, introduced herself before asking if she could call her whole table over.

Curious as to what she was planning, Kagura made eye contact with her brother and sister and mentioned them over. Once Naraku and Kanna stood, the rest of the table was soon to follow, in seconds they were standing besides Kagura and looking down at the new girls.

Rising from their seats the Higurashi sisters, silently debated what to do before Kagome again stepped forward and began introducing them. She began with herself and Rin, but when she was about to introduce Kikyo the oddest thing happened. The one with the long wavy hair and the creepy red eyes disappeared from where he was standing and reappeared behind Kikyo.

The whole group tensed when he leaned down and whispered something only she could hear before sinking his fangs into her neck. Paralysed with shock the group didn't move until Kikyo began to sway and Naraku had removed his fangs, which they noticed had a slight gleam to it. It wasn't long after Naraku had removed his fangs that Kikyo's knees collapsed under her.

Kagome and Rin sprang forward to catch her but were held back when Naraku wrapped his arms around her and brought her close to him; leveling a glare to all that tried to come close, Naraku picked her up and, with a slight incline of his head, disappeared from their sight.

"What the hell just happened?" Rin asked, breaking the silence that had engulfed the entire cafeteria. "And where did that bastard take my sister?" Kagome added.

"That bastard," Kagura began. "Is now your brother-in-law. Welcome to the family, I guess."

After the very eventful lunch, most of the school was buzzing with excitement and gossip. So when the Taisho brothers arrived late to class, something the elder hated, the whispers grew as they followed them down the halls and into their classes.

Inuyasha hated the attention he was getting, and although that was something he used to, that day it just annoyed the hell out of him. Walking into class ten minutes late, not only got the teacher's attention but also the entire class. Ignoring the teacher, Inuyasha walked straight to his desk, sat down, and laid his head down upon his crossed arms. With his eyes closed, his nose shifted through all the scents in the room, and through all the colons and perfumes, his attention was caught on one that didn't smell as fake as all the other's. Taking a deeper sniff, Inuyasha cracked open an eye and lazily looked around the room to see who was new.

Since most humans forgot how strong a youkai's sense of smell was, he wanted to know who was considerate enough not to overwhelm his senses and that of his kind. His eye fell upon a girl three desks up from him and to his left working furiously on taking notes. As if feeling eyes on her, the girl stopped what she was doing and looked over her shoulder to look him right in the eye. Something in him growled possessively as soon as his golden eye fell upon her grey ones. Lifting his head slightly from the desk, he stared at her so intently that he could see the blush going down her neck.

So focused on the girl, Inuyasha hardly noticed that the teacher had been calling his name for the pass minute. It wasn't until he felt the smack of a rolled up book on his head that he turned away from the girl. The glare he fixated on his teacher was so strong that he could see and hear him gulp down his fear.

"What?" he demanded. The scowl that graced Inuyasha's face had the teaching taking a step back and urging the student behind him to move. This was way beyond what he was paid to do. From what was covered in the weekly meetings the school and district had, plus the manual he was handed when he became a teacher, he was suppose to evacuate the students in his class and leave until the issue that had aggravated the youkai got resolved.

The students, already used to this, quickly got up and filed out of the room. The only one that remained, was the girl that Inuyasha was staring at. She looked at her fellow classmates in confusion for a while before shrugging and standing to go after them, only to be stopped by the growl released by the boy from earlier. Turning around so that she could fully look at him, she could only gasp as an electrical shock went through her when she got a full look of him.

Eyes the colour of gold surrounded by red, a single blue strip was on both of his cheeks. With teeth bared, his growl and glower looked more demonic than anything else.'He's mine. The kamis have sent me a mate,' Kagome thought. Looking at the inugami in front of her, Kagome barely had the time to say her name before they were battling for dominance.

The class outside watched as the walls and building shook as the two inside fought for dominance. The class, not even, the whole school knew the inugami and how much he and his group of friends could cause on a normal day. This, what's happening at the moment has them buzzing with excitement and worry. As the class stood outside their classroom, they were met with more than half the student body in that side of the building, plus the faculty as they wandered what was happening with their school.

"What's going on here?" the French teacher, Kaede asked the inugami's teacher.

"The inu-hanyou, Inuyasha appears to have found his mate," the teacher replied.

"Who?"

"One of the Higurashi's."

The sound of groans and gasps of surprise and disappointment had the two teachers turn to look at the group of girls huddled together to the side. Among these girls stood two who were looking at the classroom as if they could see what was happening inside, and from the frowns on their face they were far from happy. Kaede, held back a sigh as she watched the girls in the group glare at the classroom, this was going to be a problem. Next to his brother, Inuyasha was the most sought after boy in school, now that he was taken there would be many fights between both the male and female population.

At least Sesshomaru is still single. For now. You never know what the future might bring.

The tremors the building was experiencing ended as well as the sounds of fighting. In an instant the entire corridor was silent as they waited for the two to emerge. After what felt like an eternity, both Inuyasha and Kagome emerged, and the sight that greeted them had some stifling gasps of astonishment. Inuyasha was covered in burns and blood, some of it his, some of it the girls, parts of his clothes was missing and the rest were in shreds. Although Inuyasha was a stagger, the Higurashi was a shock. Her clothes were so torn that she was basically in her undergarments, she, as well was covered in blood.

Stepping towards the two, one of the female faculty members took off her jacket and tried handing it to Kagome only to be glared and growled at. Correcting her mistake, she handed the jacket to Inuyasha who put it around Kagome before bringing her closer to him.

Lowering his head so that he spoke directly to her ear, inuyasha asked, "Do you have any extra clothes in your bag or something?"

Nodding her head, yes, as they walked through the crowd that had gathered and they could basically feel the whispers circulating about the inu's mark. Seeing as the student and faculty rarely, if ever, got see any marks by an inugami, Inuyasha was barely surprised. The one Kagome had on her neck resembled that of a small snake bite, pink and slightly swollen. There were some murmurs saying that they wished to see a full inugami's mark instead of a half. They, however, doubted that would ever happen. The only way that would ever happen is if Sesshomaru found his own mate and marked her, and he's too much of an antisocial jerk for that to ever happen.

As the pair disappeared from the crowd's view, the teachers ushered the students back to class, although barely anything was taught or learnt.

Sesshomaru arrived home much earlier than either parent were expecting and when asked for an explanation, said that the school had sent him home to explain the happenings of the day. Once his stepmother and father were nicely accommodated in his father's office, Sesshomaru was about to start when he was interrupted by his father.

"What happened? Does it involve why your brother isn't here?"

"Yes," Sesshomaru stated. When he saw his stepmother open her mouth to say something, he quickly expanded his answer. "Everything is alright."

"Then what's the reason for coming home early?" his father asked.

"We have a room to ready; Inuyasha has found his mate."

Vocabulary:

Inugami-another word for inuyoukai. Literal definition as defined by wikipedia: Inugami (犬神, lit. "dog god/spirit"), like kitsunetsuki, is a spiritual possession by the spirit of a dog, widely known about in western Japan.
