Chapter 6

Sophie POV

I woke in a light-filled room on a comfortable bed with gold glittering pillars. I struggled to jump up and blood rushed to my head. Sitting back down I studied the room, a desk was in the corner, a stalked bookshelf, and an open door. I sprinted for the door, preparing to be cornered, or run into a forcefield. But nothing came, no yelling or pain as I took a step over the threshold of the door.

Running through the hallway, and into the closest open door.

Shutting it and putting my forehead on the door, I heard a snicker.

"Miss Sophie, thank you for joining us." I knew that voice, a voice I had heard in many nightmares.

"Fintan." I turned to see elves staring back at me. Maybe one-hundred, all blue eyes, some glaring some smiling.

"This is the infamous Moonlark! Who has foiled all of our plans." Fintan spoke with mock praise, making the crowd laugh. Sophie felt the urge to pull her itchy eyelashes out, but standing straiter, she faced the crowd, "It is true. Me and my friends -teen friends- outsmarted an ancient elf and his freaky friends."

Sophie hadn't meant too sound so harsh, but she wouldn't take it back. After everything Fintan had done she was done playing nice. His expression changed from amused to angry so quickly, whiplash was a possibility.

"Let's not waste any more time, as I was saying, The Moonlark is with us now," Fintan said smirking.

"WHAT?" Sophie squealed, her voice going up a couple octaves.

"Or at least she will be. Once we show her...um...you'll see." Fintan said an almost nervous smile on his lips.
