Truths Revealed part 2
By the time classes came to a halt because of lunch, Rin was anxious to hear Kikyo's story. She had a feeling that it'll be a hell of a lot more interesting than the one Kagome told...although she had a hunch that Kagome hadn't told them the whole story, some things just seemed a little too perfect, something that never happened with them. So, when the bell finally rang signaling the end of fourth period and beginning of lunch, Rin was one of the first to leave her classroom. Sending a quick text to Kikyo and Kagome asking where they were, Rin hurriedly (almost impatiently) walked towards the cafeteria while she awaited an answer. Having her eyes glued to her phone she didn't notice the group standing in her way until she had run smack into one of them.
Rin, startled, took a step back to avoid falling on her butt before looking up to find herself staring into lizard-like eyes and facial features. Blinking rapidly to clear her shock from encountering such youkai features from someone so close to her age—after all, it wasn't everyday that she met someone who couldn't complete a full body transformation and looked (somewhat) her age—so, she offered a quick bow of her head and said, "Gomen nasai, sumimasen," before trying to go around him. She, however, didn't expect him to block her path or that his little minions would surround her. With a critical eye, Rin took in the situation she was in and quickly remembered that her control wasn't at its best currently. Taking a deep breath to try and calm herself down, Rin offered each guy encircling her a glare and simply stated, "I'm not afraid of you, now move."
This caused the guys to give a bark of laughter before the lizard guy stepped away from the ring and approached her. Leering, he slowly started circling her as if he thought she was prey, never quite noticing the faint glow surrounding her or the way that she never fully took her eyes off of any of them. Grabbing ahold of her face, lizard guy sneered and asked, "Now what's a pretty little thing gonna do to us? A pretty but pathetic human, huh?"
Taking his hand in hers, Rin let just enough of her miko powers out to sting him and, feeling that the longer she held onto his hand, the more it hurt, he quickly let go. "Looks like we have a little miko who thinks she's something guys," lizard guy said. "Thinks that a lowly level two can do something to us."
"What do you guys think," one of the surrounding guys spoke up. "Reckon if we rile her up enough, she'll let loose?"
"How about you guys back off," Rin said with a sigh, "I have somewhere to be and really don't have time for your antics." She really didn't have time for this and if she had to spend another minute in their presence she didn't know if she'll be able to keep the reins on her powers. However, as things never seemed to go her way, the guys just laughed some more as they closed in on her. Thinking themselves safe, their leader pressed on, even going so far as to grab her hair to try to push her onto the floor to acknowledge who had the most power among them. This handling finally broke the chains on Rin's powers.
Her eyes went completely black for a second before they flashed to purple and stayed that way as the atmospheric pressure around her increased by ten degrees and her aura showed itself. The guys could only watch in horror as their leader was thrown through their circle along with some of his lackie as if they were nothing by an invisible force. Almost trembling in fear, the guys turned their attention to the girl they provoked only to gasp in terror as they finally took notice of her reiki. It wasn't the pale pink of level one mikos or the magenta of a level three or four. It wasn't the pearly white or pale blue of a level five. No, her reiki was dark. It wasn't the same amethystic colour of a dark miko but it was close to it in their eyes.
Ignoring the trembling fools in front of her, Rin calmly stalked towards the leader as two indiscernible shapes took form behind her. Almost as if hugging her, two hands shot forward and grabbed ahold of the dazed leader, lifting him so that his feet left the ground and his terrified eyes were in view of everyone, Rin's voice echoed through the halls.
"Didn't your parents ever tell you not to believe everything you see, for it may not be true?" Rin asked. It had such a calmness to it that the lizard-guy and his minions almost peed their pants. They knew of only two people who spoke like that in the face of danger and this thought neither calmed or instilled safety in them, rather it had them sweating bullets. "Since I'm such a pathetic human how about you never lay a hand on me or any other girl again."
The subtle command underlying her words was all that was needed for the figures hugging her to spring forward and bring the lizard guy and his followers into their claws. Before they could do anything a voice commanding authority rang in both their ears and their mistress as it said, "Stop." Turning towards it, Rin was only able to discern its golden eyes before black dots began filling her vision and she lost grasp of both her power and consciousness.
