Truths Revealed part 3

Kagome and Kikyo were on their way to the cafeteria to meet up with Rin when they felt a pulse of uncontrolled power run throughout the school. Knowing who it was immediately, they turned around in place to find where the pulse originated from, and once they had a lock on it, they tore through the school. Uncaring of who they pushed and shoved out of there way. The only thing they could only think of was to get to Rin and stop her before she caused some irreparable damage.

However when they arrived at the scene of the crime, they found Rin unconscious in the arms of a silver inuyoukai and group of boys cowering at his feet. 'Not so much to be to anxious about,' Kagome thought. 'At least there's no fire this time.' Not wanting to cause more of a scene, Kagome slowly stepped forward and was about to demand that Rin be handed to them when a raspy voice questioned, "What's going on here?" Turning towards the voice, Kagome found herself staring at the woman whose face and name appeared in almost every article of news the school was ever a participate of—Matsumoto, Kaede. The kocho sensei* of the school, and one of the most respected (and feared) person in Japan.

"Aa kocho sensei all I can say is that my sister and I just arrived. We have no idea what caused Rin to unleash her powers, however, from what I can see these gentlemen were involved," Kikyo stated.

"And before you ask us what caused Rin to lose consciousness, I'll like to point out that this isn't really the best place to explain that," Kagome added as she gestured to the slowly filling hallway.

Surveying the corridor, Kaede nodded her agreement but not before narrowing her eyes at the Higurashi's in skepticism and declared with a stringent voice, "Very well," and ushered the staff and students lining the halls to proceed as they were. Once the halls were moderately cleared she turned to the inuyoukai and said, "Taisho-san if you can please proceed to the nurse's office."

As if he had an almost indulgent air about him, the inuyoukai pivoted on his heels and walked off without any regards to the women accompanying him. All he cared about was the young lady in his arms, and the enchanting scent she was giving off. All other thought was disregarded as, for once in his life, he gave a conscious notion to someone else's well being besides his own. By the time they had reached the nurse's office, the girl was slowly coming into consciousness if her breathing pattern and heartbeat were any indication. Sliding the door open with his foot, (and making sure the girl wouldn't get hit with the door frame) he stepped inside. Walking to the nearest bed, he carefully set her down and waited for the explanations to begin.

The girls having followed the inuyoukai closely were the second to enter the nurse's waited for Matsumoto to arrive. It took a minute, but once everyone was gathered and the door was shut, Kikyo erected a barrier around the door, to both block out anyone from entering and to keep anything said from leaving the room.

"Now that we're all here," says Matsumoto-sensei. "Can you explain what happened Higurashi?"

Silently communicating with their eyes, Kagome and Kikyo glanced at Matsumoto-sensei for a second before Kagome took a step forward and addressed the room at large.

"Rin is a level six miko. A rarity among our kind."

Matsumoto-sensei's sharp intake of breath and the inuyoukai widen eyes were the only indication of their shock. Kagome waited silently for a minute or so, to see if either she or the inuyoukai would speak, and when they didn't, continued.

"While most mikos come into their powers around age six or nine, Rin's manifested at age four, resulting in her having no control over them. While our astonishments lasted for weeks, our parents quickly overcame theirs knowing that Rin needed all the help she could get. Training went...well for a year. However, it was becoming apparent that our parents needed help...but before they could find any they...died when they were trying to help Rin with her reiki summoning. We didn't know how it happened until a few months later when we went under the care of our aunt.

"During a training exercise, Rin lost control of her reiki the damage it caused was intense. During the chaos that ensued, we found Rin standing in a whirlwind of her own power being embraced by two indiscernible forms. As we forced our way towards her, the forms took on the shape of two dragons. One being the darkest of night and the other an iridescent. As we got closer to her, we noticed something strange. Instead of her usual chocolate coloured eyes, we saw that her eyes were glowing a violent purple. We knew that Rin had passed, both myself and Kikyo as well as our aunt in power when we saw that. Seconds after we found her, she passed out. Two days later our aunt informed us that she found a teacher capable of helping Rin, unfortunately they were in another country. We decided that instead of letting Rin go by herself, we'd join her. So we packed our bags and flew off to Boston. For ten years we lived there, and only once, under her teacher's tutelage, did Rin lose control. That, however, is a story Rin should tell."

With her tale finished, Kagome looked about the room and saw that all its occupants were in a state of quiet contemplation. It was the shifting of the bed and quiet groan that broke the silence caused by Kagome's tale, making all in the room turn to see that Rin had finally woken up and was pushing herself to a sitting position. Seeing those around her, Rin let out a sigh as she fell back against the headboard.

Without any particular diction in her voice, Rin asked, "Ryuu no gekijou* came out didn't he?" to which her sisters simply nodded.

"However," Kikyo added when she saw the emotionless mask Rin was putting up. "No one was particularly harmed."

"And gekijou* didn't blow up anything this time," Kagome chimed in. The look Kagome received from the party in the room for her comment, had her somewhat deflating before she got over it and shrugged the looks off. Even with the glares she garnered from them, her words help did alleviate the tension that had slowly gathered as she was telling Rin's story. In her mind, her work was complete. Her sister wasn't as tense and everyone else was less stiff. So with a huff she took a seat in one of the empty beds and waited for whatever was going to happen, happen.

Author's Note: So sorry for the late chapter! I was without internet in August for almost that entire month and then again in September, so this past couple of months have been pretty crazy. Again I'm so sorry for the lateness of this chapter; I will hopefully have the next one done and ready in November.
