Surprisingly, Natalie got her answers a few weeks later when she went to visit her parents for the Easter break. While she was glad of the three weeks away from the university, leaving it behind also worried her.

What if 'the Doctor' came to visit her there while she was with her family? And what if she doesn't get any answers at all as a result?

Fortunately, those doubts were banished from her thoughts when she saw the blue police box materialise in the back garden as she unpacked her bags. She was surprised to see her parents rush out to it though and greet the man that exited the box as if they were old friends.

She moved to the top of the stairs as they entered to listen to their conversation.

"Accent has changed since we last met" she heard the Doctor finish saying.

"As has yours. Ours have just gone back to what they used to be." Okay, that was her mother, Elizabeth, how does she know The Doctor?

"Yes, so your sister warned me, something like returning to factory settings for your kind. Is that why you started a family?"

"Aye, had the Pegasus Galaxy not thrown so many curveballs at us then this might of happened when we first met, but life doesn't go as we hope" Natalie frowned, confused as her father joined the conversation, Carson's Scottish accent still obvious after living away from there for so long.

"Maybe not the first few times around anyway" her mother again. What was that supposed to mean?

"Yes, don't jinx it now, everything looks like it's going well"

"Minus the fact that our daughter is now an undetermined shapeshifter?"

"Well she might have found an animal form eventually anyway, that one definitely runs in your family, whether they first show signs of magic or not." That almost sounded like a fact, confusing Natalie further,

"Yes, but because see didn't show any signs before she left we never told her. It might of been another Helena situation and we were planning to intervene if so once University was done." What did her cousin have to do with anything?

"Well we don't have a choice now and there's a lot of explaining to be done, so if Natalie would like to stop eavesdropping from the top of the stairs and join us we could start." Carson shouted. Natalie looked over the banister to see her father looking at her from the kitchen doorway.

"How did you know?" she questioned as she made her way down the stairs.

"We'll explain it all to you as soon as you sit down and the kettle boils"

"So all the stories when I was little, about the space travel and the magic, actually happened? You even travelled with the Doctor?" Natalie looked at said Timelord rummaging through the cupboard next to her father's head.

"Yes. We got a bit bored after a century of peace and he turned up with trouble snapping at his heels." the Scot responded, grabbing the Jammie Dodgers out of the cupboard and handing them to the Doctor. Elizabeth rolled her eyes at the Timelord and grabbed the offered coffee from Carson as he headed back to the table.

"While there's nothing wrong with a little bit of peace, you become so accustomed to chaos that it becomes difficult to settle down again. Being part of this family means that peace usually ends up disrupted at some point." she continued. She made sure the cupboards were all closed before taking a seat too.

"How long did you travel with him?"

"Hmm, difficult to describe given that time passes differently in different universes and the amount of parallels we ended up stuck in." The Doctor looked away from the Jammie Dodger packet at that.

"I wholly blame you for those, I haven't been stuck in one since" the Timelord stated, waving a biscuit in their general direction.

"He's to blame for a lot of things" the dragon climbing Carson's arm pointed out. Natalie watched it with wide eyes as it made itself comfy on her father's shoulder.

"So you've abandoned the glamour then?"

"Ye were telling her everything anyway" the dragon responded. "I think she deserves to know about her parents being dragon riders."

"We never had cats, did we?" Natalie questioned.

"Blades and Daria were disguised to look like cats so we didn't scare everyone who saw them, they act enough like cats anyway so it wasn't too much of a stretch" the second dragon rubbed itself against Natalie's leg before making its way over to her mother.

"Another family quirk, your aunt is just as bad for that one." The Doctor told Natalie. "I never thought I'd see dragons get on so well with owls until I met her."

"Sariana surprises a lot of people." Carson pointed out. The Doctor nodded to concede the point.

"Back to the matter at hand though, I believe you had a story to tell us Doctor, unless Natalie feels up to telling it?" Elizabeth intervened.

"You two are sure you're okay with this?"

"She's got to grow up some time. We'll be in enough contact with her to know if you two are in over your heads and the nearest person can help you out. If you're lucky, you might get a visit from the royal couple themselves."

"If they do turn up, I'm telling them you said that so she'll come after you when she finished shouting at me for getting her niece into trouble."

"Then you'll be in twice the trouble when you return her for the holidays." Carson told the Doctor. Carson didn't threaten any further as Natalie took his attention and he reverted to his 'concerned parent' mode.

Once goodbyes had been said and plans for visits arranged, The Doctor helped Natalie into the TARDIS and closed the door behind him, moving past her to dance around the controls in his usual fashion and get the TARDIS moving.

"Now, where would you like to go?"

"I don't know, I hadn't thought that far ahead yet."

"You were the one that said 'I want to see the universe you talked about in your stories' to your parents. Which story location did you want to visit first?"

"I want to see Atlantis and the space vampires."

"Why does something tell me that you're going to get me into more trouble than your parents did." The TARDIS beeped at that comment and Natalie laughed.

"I'll take that to mean that you get yourself into enough trouble without the help."

"I do not!"

"I've heard the stories, you do. Besides, I accept your challenge!"
