Sophia crouched on the floor, backing away from the approaching Targent leader.
"Such a sweet little wolf, I can see why my son likes you"
"What do you want now? Wasn't my near death enough for you?" Sophia snarled. The werewolf attempted to get to her feet, only to find her knees buckling under her as they attempted to support her weight.
"I need the power of the Labyrinth that you have inside you" was Bronev's answer.
"You can't have it. There's no way to take it"
"I've found a way, after much trial and error. And this time it won't just be a near death experience" he approached Sophia as he spoke, to which she managed to crawl away and keep the distance between them. Before Bronev could cross this distance, two figures appeared in it.
"You won't get that far" Crowley stated. Sophia quickly noted that Crowley's and Aziraphale's wings were not only visible to Bronev, but they were spread between her and Bronev, a sign that Sophia was under their protection. Sophia found herself being lifted from the ground, quickly settling herself in the familiar pair of arms.
"I thought I told you to be careful"
"I was being careful, I'm not completely infallible though" Sophia reminded him, resting her head against Descole's shoulder. Managing to catch sight of Descole and Sophia over Aziraphale and Crowley's wings, Bronev smirked.
"So you finally arrived Son, I wondered how long it would take you to realise that I'd taken your little wolf" Bronev stated, but Descole ignored him. Instead, Descole turned to Aziraphale and Crowley to leave, but Bronev struck before they could get a reply. Within a few seconds, the angel and demon dropped to the floor, unconscious, leaving Sophia and Descole stunned. They snapped out of it as they were pulled apart, beginning to fight, but Sophia soon blacked out as something hit the back of her head. Descole was dragged out of the room and Sophia's unconscious form placed on the floor by Aziraphale and Crowley.
"Why did he have to turn up? Now this task became a lot harder" Bronev grumbled as she approached the werewolf on the floor. The other Targent agents went to help keep Descole distracted while Bronev knelt on the floor, pulling a dagger out of his jacket, which he didn't hesitate to plunge into Sophia's heart. The dagger took the power of the labyrinth as it attempted to restart her heart, a grin appearing on Bronev's face as he felt the power being stored in the hilt.
Before he could finish the process, he and the dagger were ripped away from Sophia by an angel that had previously been unconscious, who immediately knelt down to heal Sophia's wound and allow the small amount of energy that remained to restart her heart. It was only a second later that a weak pulse returned, at which point Aziraphale turned to Bronev.
Seeing that Aziraphale could handle Bronev, Crowley turned his attention to the men attacking Descole. They were quickly dispatched between the demon and the vampire, by which point Bronev was unconscious and severely injured; something that not many would expect to have come at the hands of the angel that owned the quiet London bookshop. However, Crowley was too focused on the angel in question, who was pulling a knife out of his left wing.
"I suggest we head back to Baker Street. John will be worried about Sophia as it is, I dread to think what his reaction to this will be" Descole voiced what they were thinking. Crowley and Aziraphale nodded, watching Descole lift Sophia from the floor and make his way over to them before the four disappeared into thin air, appearing outside Baker Street a second later. Descole was almost knocked over by John as he walked through the front door.
"Ah, finally someone with expertise" Crowley grumbled as he followed. John stepped back as he noticed Aziraphale having to lean on Crowley for support, allowing them to pass into Sophia's flat, but he kept Descole back.
"What happened?"
"Targent grabbed her while she was on patrol, she got a message to those two as soon as she could and they came and picked me up"
"And?"
"And he took Sophia's power that she got from the Labyrinth" Descole finished. The low growl that formed in John's throat made Descole nervous, so the vampire walked into 221c to avoid the wrath of the alpha.
"Angel, you're going to have to move your wings so I can treat them" Crowley was telling Aziraphale as Descole walked in. Both the angel and the demon looked to him as he entered; their main attention on the young werewolf he was carrying in his arms. The vampire nodded to the pair as he moved into Sophia's bedroom, gently placing her on the bed.
Timeskip
Sophia sobbed into her pillow as she listened to the conversation in the living room. She couldn't get her powers back, not the best thing for her to hear when she first regained consciousness. She was too busy crying to notice the conversation stop; only noticing the difference when a hand fell on her shoulder.
"Why are you still here?" she demanded once she'd calmed down enough to speak.
"Why would I be leaving?" Desmond questioned in return.
"Because I'm pointless now, I can't predict the future or anything, I'm just a stupid little werewolf who'll end up hurting you"
"There's always been that risk, but I'm still here" Sophia sat up after Desmond made that point, but was pushed back into the pillows by the vampire. "You need to stay still so you don't reopen the wound; we don't know how well Aziraphale's healing has stuck"
"What would it matter anyway? Just give me something to eat and I'll be fine" Sophia pointed out. Desmond nodded and left the room to make the werewolf something to eat, leaving time for the royalty of the labyrinth to talk to Sophia.
"I didn't get them taken from me on purpose you know" Sophia pointed out to the pair.
"We know, but if this man knows you still have some left then he might come after you again and you wouldn't survive a second attack like that" Sarah replied.
"I will if you give me the power back" At that, the Goblin King and Queen gave Sophia a look only described as sympathetic.
"You know for a fact that isn't an option Sophia, as much as we'd love to, we have to follow the rules on this one" Jareth told her. Sophia tried not to react to this statement too much, she had known they wouldn't give her the power back, but couldn't hold herself together for long. Seeing this, the Goblin Queen sat on the edge of the bed and pulled the werewolf into a hug.
"I don't see why we can't bend the rules slightly, just this once" Sarah whispered. She glanced up at Jareth to get his approval, which he gave her accompanied with his usual smirk, before she started to do anything.
"We can't give you all of it back, but we can give you a little, enough to heal the damage properly and to give you back your special sight" Sarah continued. Sophia managed to calm down once she heard that, even if it still took her a few minutes, and she looked up at the pair.
Desmond returned to Sophia as the power transfer was completed and the Labyrinth's royalty took their leave, giving a quick nod to the vampire just before they vanished in a cloud of glitter. He quickly shifted the plate in his hand to stop said glitter contaminating the food and so it ended up all over his suit in the process.
"Must they always leave glitter behind when they travel?" Desmond questioned as he attempted to brush the offending thing off his suit. It stuck itself to the flour already there and refused to move, so the vampire gave up and just handed Sophia her pancakes.
"Apparently so" The werewolf shook the glitter out of her hair before accepting the food. She paused before eating to look at the picture drawn in whipped cream on the top pancake. When she identified it, she tried to hide her laughter.
"Is that a fairy?" she managed to ask. The vampire in the doorway nodded, only able to watch as Sophia broke into a full laugh.
"I can't be that bad...Is it that bad?" Desmond questioned as he sat on the bed beside Sophia to re-examine his work.
"No, it's pretty good considering the medium. It just made me laugh after the day I've had, but that was the point, wasn't it?"
"Perhaps" Desmond answered. One of his hands pushed the stray hairs from Sophia's face and she leaned into the touch instinctively.
"I'll never leave you, no matter what happens. Remember that" he told her.
