Ruby had just gotten home from the coffee shop with Weiss. Weiss had given Ruby her number! She'd said that is was so she could apologize properly for being partly responsible for getting Ruby fired, but still! Could Ruby have made her first friend since she's left highschool?

When Ruby walked into the house, a note on the kitchen table in Yang's hand writing read 'out on date, be back by 1'. Did she mean 1 AM or 1 PM tomorrow? Ruby could never tell with Yang. And what an odd time for an overnight date, in the middle of the week. Huh. Ruby flopped onto the couch, thinking over the days events. She'd been so exited about her first job. That was a total bust now though. But, she wasn't sorry about what she'd done. Even if she didn't even realize what she was doing, she was glad she'd kept Weiss from being slapped. Heh, like a superhero. Ruby had always loved superheros. If that was a job option, she'd have taken it in a heartbeat. She was pretty good at using things around her as weapons.

Ruby looked at her phone, which she had strewn across the couch when she'd sat down. Weiss. Ruby had her number. Would now be to soon to call her? Definitely, it definitely would.. What about texting? That was a, normal thing friends did, right? Texting each other? Ruby gingerly picked up her phone. It was fine, this was fine. She was just texting Weiss! Nothing wrong with that!

But what to say? Shoot. Ruby had already opened up her phone to text, but had nothing in her mind that she wanted to say. "I've already gotten this far.." She mumbled to herself.

Ruby: yo

No. Oh god no, she did NOT just say that. Ruby dropped her phone in shame and covered her face. Seriously? That was the best she could come up with? Even 'hi' would have been better!

A buzz sounded from Ruby's phone, signaling a response from Weiss. Ruby stared at it like it was going to bite. She flipped it over with her foot, trying to read whatever Weiss had replied with from in between her fingers over her eyes.

Weiss: good evening.

AAAAHHHHHHHH! How was she supposed to respond to that? She hadn't even had anything to say in the first place! No, no! its fine. It was fiiiiine, Ruby thought to herself, as she tried to calm down. She picked her phone back up.

Ruby: sorry about mixing up the coffee earlier

Weiss: no need to be.

Weiss: I was at fault as well for not realizing until actually tasting it.

Huh, Weiss ended her texts with periods. Was that the proper way to text? No, if Ruby started doing that now it'd look weird. Be cool, be cool.

Ruby: yeah, it was quite a surprise. How can you stand your coffee so black?

Weiss: me? You put gallons of sugar in yours. There was hardly any coffee in it!

Ruby: what can I say, I have a sweet tooth ^v^

Shoot was that to much maybe it didn't need that smiley face at the end ahhhhhh she's replying

Weiss: I can see that.

Weiss: like a said earlier, I am very sorry about taking part in getting you fired. Would you like help getting another job?

Ruby: oh, you don't have to be, it was my first and all, so, like its alright. I'm not sure if I should even try to get another job again, in feel like I'd do something similar and just get fired the same way.

Weiss: something similar? To what?

Ruby: you know, like, hero stuff! I like superheros. I'd probably chuck a flower pot at someone rude if I worked in a flower shop..

Weiss took a while to respond after that. And while ruby was waiting, she went onto Woogle and looked up a picture of a pretty snow bird to use as Weiss's picture on her phone. She was very satisfied with her choice.

Weiss: what kind of job would you like to do?

Ruby: I'm not so sure anymore..

Weiss: I need to go, something's come up. I'll be talking to you about this tomorrow morning, so answer when I text, ok?

Ruby: ok

And the messages stopped coming in. Ruby looked at the little snow bird she'd set as Weiss's picture. It was almost perfect, the only thing that could have made It better, was if it was Weiss holding the little snow bird. Ruby went over Weiss's appearance in her mind. Her white hair was eye catching, but so were her eyes. Ruby blushed lightly, remembering how her first thought when looking into Weiss's eyes was 'the sky is trapped in their eyes'. Pale skin, paler then ruby, and that was saying something. Ruby had always been a bit pale. Yang had been too, but recently she'd started developing a tan from going out so much during the day. Ruby was still content to practice fighting against the wall and playing video games at home.

Ruby wondered if she'd ever get to see Weiss again. Surely, she would. Weiss said they'd chat again, and it wasn't like they'd just text forever right? Ruby sighed, and plugged her phone into a charger across the room. On the way back to the couch, she nearly tripled over one of Yang's boxing gloves. It was the right one. Why did she always loose only the right glove? Honestly, ruby wouldn't be surprised if yang lost her right arm one day with how careless sh could be with her stuff sometimes.

Ruby tidied up a little bit, and went to bed. Visions of drinking coffee with Weiss danced through her dreams, and Ruby couldn't help but stare at her lips as she drank her coffee. A small bead of it ran down her neck, and Ruby reached out a finger to wipe it up just before It touched Weiss's snow white robe. As soon as Ruby touched Weiss, a small red smudge appeared on Weiss's skin. Ruby tried to use the snow white robe to wipe it off, but just touching the robe left anywhere Ruby's skin came in contact with it a deep red color. Weiss didn't seem to notice? How could she not notice? Now that she looked, Ruby's entire body was red. Her hands, hair, clothes... And Weiss was pure white. Of course something like Ruby would taint Weiss's purity. Of course. Weiss reached out a hand to Ruby, and touched her fingertip. Both their fingertips merged into a light pink. Weiss looked like she was about to say something.

SLAM

Ruby was startled awake. Before she had any time to mull over her dream, she heard the front door close. Ruby got up, tired as she was, and noticed the time was 3 AM.

"Yang? Is that you?" Ruby walked into the hall and around the corner, seeing her sister draped over the shoulder of some random girl. Yang mumbled something unrecognizable in her sleep. Ruby looked at the strange girl helping yang half stand. She rubbed her eyes. "Are you... Yang's date?"

The girl nodded. "Yes." A short reply.

"Oh, hello!" Ruby was a little more awake now. "I'm Ruby, her sister. Uh..." Ruby looked at yang, who was beginning to snore quite loudly. "Thanks for bringing her home, I guess. How'd that happen?"

"She got too drunk." Another short reply.

"Really? Huh, that doesn't usually happen. Normally its her escorting drunk girls and guys she dates home. Ah, she has dated lots of people, but she never cheats! She always makes a clean break up before starting again! Wait, I mean, yeah she does, but shes not like a serial dater, who just like, dates and dumps people, um, she's just looking for someone she wants to spend forever with, I mean like, forever is a long time so its ok to be picky–" Ruby rambled on, until the girl interrupted.

"Ruby. Its ok." The black haired girl smiled softly. "I think I should get her to a bed. Is there one back around there?" She looked at the hallway.

"Yeah, her rooms the one on the left." Ruby nodded, yawning.

"You look like you should get back to sleep as well. And my name is Blake." The girl trod off with yang in tow, leaving Ruby in the front room for a few minutes. Blake returned just before Ruby almost fell asleep on her feet.

"Would you, yawwwn... Like something to drink?" Ruby offered.

"No thanks, I should probably get going." Blake said. Though despite what she said, it looked like she was about ready to collapse.

"Why don't you crash here tonight? If Yang's comfortable enough to pass out drunk in front of you, she'd probably be fine sharing a morning hangover to. Its just me and her here, so you could share the bed with her, or I could grab some blankets for the, yawwwn.. Couch." Ruby offered.

Blake looked like she wanted to protest, but the heavy need for sleep overruled her sense of reason. "The couch'd be fine, thanks.." Blake sat down, closing her eyes for a second. And half a second later, she let herself fall over and drift to sleep. Ruby got some blankets and covered the tired Blake, returning to her own bed soon after.

In the morning, Ruby woke up first, which was funny since she woke up at 11 AM. Not exactly early, but Yang and Blake were still fast asleep. Ruby decided to make breakfast for the two hung over girls. Yang always complained when ruby made coffee, since Ruby somehow always screwed coffee up (Ruby agreed with yang, her own coffee tasted horrible no matter what she tried) so she set out the stuff for Yang to make it and pressed the heat water button on the coffee maker.

Soon after ruby had finished making bacon, Yang stumbled out of her room, looking confused. "Ruby..? How did I... Uh.. Huh... Bacon.." Yang took a seat at the table. "Uhhhhg my head is killing meeee."

"I set out the coffee stuff, and the waters heated." Ruby said, making three plates.

Yang nodded, and despite her headache, did what needed to be done to the coffee and then returned to her to seat. Hungover as she was, yang noticed there were three plates. "Am I seeing double?" She mumbled to herself.

While Yang rubbed her eyes and yawned, Blake slinked over and sat next to Yang. Yang jolted and almost fell out of her chair. "Oh Jesus! Blake! What's uuuppp~" Yang did finger guns, and then clutched her head with a groan.

"Same." Blake mumbled as she stuffed her face.

"Well, it seems you two had a fun night~" Ruby chirped.

"Wait did we–" Yang glanced at Blake, cheeks flushed a little.

"I took the couch last night." Blake said, calming Yang's blush.

"Are you go on another on another date~?" Ruby said playfully, jumping at the rare chance to tease her sister.

Yang looked at Blake, eagerly awaiting a reply. "I think I'd like that." Blake said in monotone, to which ruby heard a 'yes!' Come from yang a split second later. The corners of Blake's mouth twitched into a smile for a second.

"Oh also I got fired from my job on the first day. Need to use the bathroom, bye now!" Ruby dropped the bomb and tried to escape.

"Hey, hey wait a minuet!" Yang yelled "Fired? Already? What could you have possibly done to get fired?"

Ruby stopped in her tracks, looking back at Yang guiltily. "I kinda... Threw two drinks at a guy who was going to hit a girl..." Ruby let her gaze fall down to her feet.

Yang almost fell out of her chair laughing. "Are you serious? Hahahah! Not one, but two?! Oh my god ruby!"

Ruby pouted and stomped a foot playfully. "At least I didn't punch him like you would have!"

"No no, what you did was even better! I think hearing that just cured my hangover– owwww maybe not." Yang lowered her head back down to the table, still giggling. Even blake seemed to find it funny, as she tried to hide her smile behind a cup of coffee. Ah! The coffee was done! Blake had gotten it out and poured them cups. When did that happen? She was like a ninja.

Ruby's phone buzzed. She went over and picked it up, a few angry sounding texts from Weiss showed on the screen. "Crap.." Ruby mumbled. She texted back immediately.

Ruby: sorry! I slept in till like 11 and made my sister and her friend breakfast before checking on my phone! I left it in the front room last night to charge.

Ruby waited for a reply.

Weiss: I supposed that's understandable. But make sure to say when you think you'll be sleeping in late next time I say I'll text you in the morning.

Next time? So there'd be a next time? Ruby's heart soared.

Ruby: I will. What's up?

Weiss: since I'm not to sure how reliable at texting you are, let's meet up somewhere.

Ruby: that's cool

You really couldn't've thought of anything better there? Ruby chastised herself.

Ruby: have any place in mind?

Weiss: there's a cafe on scepter road, do you know it?

Ruby: I know of it, but I've never been. Isn't it expensive?

Weiss: I can treat you to something. Its the least I can do after getting you fired.

Huh, she'd gone from taking partial blame, to straight up saying it was her fault. Ruby needed to reassure her that there were no hard feelings.

Ruby: if you want, sure! What time should I meet you there?

Weiss: if possible, in half an hour.

Ruby: I can make that

Weiss: see you there then.

Ruby: likewise!

Ruby turned off her phone and raced to her room, donning a maroon colored hoodie over a black tank top, and an old black skirt she loved. Thin black thigh high socks completed her look.

"Yo ruby, where ya headed?" Yang called as ruby put on her shoes.

"I'm going out with the girl I doused the guy with soda for!" Ruby yelled back. At hearing yang choke a little, ruby blushed. "As friends! Jeeze yang!" Ruby left without another word. She tried not to think of what Blake and Yang would get up to while she was gone...

Ruby jogged down the street, confident she could make it in half an hour if she kept this pace up. She smiled to herself and hummed happily. She was going to see Weiss again! So soon! That dream she'd had came back to her a little. What was it about again? Drinking coffee.. And red and white... She couldn't remember. It probably wasn't important anyways.

On to see Weiss! Ruby chanted to herself in her head as she jogged.
