Ruby was right on time. By some miracle, In exactly half an hour she had ended up in front of that cafe where Weiss had asked to meet. She stretched her arms, loosening her muscles from jogging for the first time in a while. She looked around for Weiss. She didn't see her. Weiss didn't seem like the kind of person who'd ghost someone... What if she was though? Ruby's mind ran wild. Its not like they'd known each other that long, and for all Ruby knew someone could have stolen Weiss's phone and just texted the last person who was texted on it in order to capture some one for a serial muder– oh wait. Ruby had Weiss's number. She could just text her! No overreacting here...

Ruby: I'm here

Nice, short and simple. Would it be better to specify where?

Ruby: at the cafe

No wait maybe that was to much

Ruby: did I get the time wrong

How could you have gotten the time wrong? Ruby chastised herself as she put her hand to her face, flicking herself in the forehead. Weiss responded.

Weiss: I see you

Ruby's head darted around, trying to spot Weiss. Where? Where was the snow white headed girl? She couldn't be that hard to miss!

Weiss: turn around

Ruby twirled and looked into the cafe, seeing an amused looking Weiss sitting at a booth that was just barely visible from the front window. Ruby shook her head to wash away any embarrassment, and went in to meet Weiss. It was a rather fancy place. Not fancy enough to warrant extreme fancy clothes, but Ruby felt that her hoodie was a bit out of place.

Weiss was wearing a white one piece dress that nearly merged with her hair in color. She looked like she could be a ghost. "You are alive, right?" Ruby found herself asking before she could stop herself.

Weiss blinked. "What?"

"I, I mean, you know, you're real... White. Not in a bad way you just looked like a ghost for a second and my words, fell out of my mouth before I could stop them and honestly that's a very pretty dress but yeah uh sorry I realize you're not a ghost." Ruby bowed to hide a slight blush.

She thought she heard a small chuckle from Weiss, but upon looking up, Weiss's face portrayed no such emotion. Ruby sat down across from Weiss, unsure of how to pick the conversation back up. "Soooo..." Don't say do you like stuff. Don't say do you like stuff. "Do–"

Luckily Weiss spoke up before ruby could embarrass herself further. "I wanted to ask you, more in depth. What do you think you want to do with your life?"

Akk. Now she was starting to sound like Ruby's highschool guidance counselor. "If I knew that, everything would be so simple.." Ruby huffed.

Weiss stared at Ruby with intrigue. "So you don't have a clear path? How old did you say you were?"

"I'm 18, 19 this October. I was born on Halloween." A devilish grin spread across Ruby's face. She wasn't a very braggy person, but... her birthday was the one ting she loved to tell people about. 'I was born on Halloween' made almost anything else dumb she'd said before in the conversation disappear.

"Oh really? My family doesn't celebrate Halloween." Weiss said nonchalantly.

Ruby's jaw dropped. Didn't celebrate Halloween? What do you mean didn't celebrate Halloween? She tried to remain calm. Maybe it was a religious thing, Or, a cultural thing. She shouldn't get mad if it was that. Ruby just had to ask. "Why not? If I may ask." She tried to mask her offendedness as well as possible.

"There isn't really any point is there? You can buy any candy you want from the store." Weiss shrugged.

HOW DARE SHE "I'm sure you've been at least once, right? Trick or treating? You have to had." Ruby's eye twitched.

"No, never." Weiss noticed Ruby seemed a little off, and was about to mention it, when Ruby started rambling again.

"Weiss, you and I both barely know each other, but I swear to EVERY GOD IN EXISTENCE THAT I WILL TAKE YOU TRICK OR TREATING THIS OCTOBER AND FORCE YOU TO LIKE IT as long as you're ok with it." Ruby calmed down immediately after her little outburst. The other customers that glanced their way at the sound of Ruby's voice rising returned to their own devices after a moment.

"I... Suppose, If I'm not doing anything at the time.." Weiss seemed surprised that Ruby raised her voice like that and returned to a normal state so quickly. "Back to the subject..."

"How old are you?" Ruby asked.

"Twenty. Now as I was saying–"

"Oh so only two years older, that's cool."

"I'm getting the feeling this isn't something you want to talk about..." Weiss raised an eyebrow.

"Well, its like.. You're trying to ask me how to explain how you take apart a tuba.. But I've never even seen a tuba in real life before." Ruby rubbed the back of her head nervously. She hoped she wasn't just waiting Weiss's time like this. Weiss must have had other things she could've done today, but she'd set aside this time just for Ruby..

Weiss thought a moment "I see.. Then, let's talk about things you like doing as, hobbies, per say. Do you have any?"

Ruby nodded. "I like superheros! And weapons! I'm sure I could beat anyone in a bar fight, as long as I had something in my hands to fight with!" Ruby pretended to flex her arm. "And, I always keep a secret weapon on hand, it's name is crescent rose!

"Uh-huh..." Weiss went over Ruby's response in her head. "Anything else?"

"I like.. Video games, mostly first person shooter. Baking a little, but that's not really something I'd want to have as a career. Ahhgg, I wish there was just a hero occupation! I could do that!" Ruby grumbled.

"There's law enforcement, and If you like weapons, a police officer. Of course there's lots of rules and regulations, and you'd hardly get to use your weapon, but you'd still have it on you." Weiss suggested.

"Ah, no can't do that. My dad'd kill me." Ruby brushed aside the idea.

Weiss seemed a bit taken aback by Ruby's dismissal on the matter. "Why's that stopping you? If its something you want to do don't let HIM keep you from it!" Her brows furrowed a little.

"No no, its not because he doesn't want me to, someone close to us was a cop and they, died on duty, so–" Ruby tried to say.

"Still, that shouldn't stop yo–"

"That person was my mother. Who died." Ruby looked at the table. Weiss covered her mouth. "She died when I was little, so I don't remember her much, but, I remember that I wanted to be a police officer for a while. But when I told my dad about it, he didn't say no.. He said I could, but I saw he was afraid. And him being scared, scared me, so I decided not to. My life's kinda been at a stand still career wise since then, heh."

"I'm.. Sorry for going off without knowing the circumstances." Weiss apologized curtly, looking away.

"Nah, its fine! You're just trying to help. Though it looks like its stressing you out. Instead of trying to be my career counselor, wanna try being friends instead?" Ruby waved her hand to wash away the heavy conversation bomb they'd dropped and smiled at Weiss.

Before Ruby even had time to feel embarrassed about what she'd just said, a waiter appeared, bringing a plate full of a colorful assortment of various tiny cakes. Ruby's eyes sparkled. If she wasn't so distracted by then food, she would have seen Weiss give her own cheeks a small slap to wash away a small blush that had surfaced. But alas, Ruby was oblivious to almost anything around her when food was involved. Especially sweet food.

"Try some." Weiss said, nodding to Ruby expectantly.

"Is that ok? When did you even order this?" Ruby asked, tearing her eyes away from the plate for a brief moment.

"When you were floundering about out front." Weiss looked away to hide a smile.

"Ah! You saw me? Why didn't you sayyyy? I thought I somehow missed you!" Ruby pouted and stuck her tongue out at Weiss. Weiss speared a pink colored cake and held it out to Ruby, who happily accepted the peace offering. Weiss hid another smile behind her hand. "You don't have to cover your mouth when you want to smile, being happy is a good thing!" Ruby said with her mouth full.

Weiss coughed, looking to the side to avoid having Ruby see what expression she was making, and ate a cake of her own. Her and Ruby devoured them, Ruby making sure that there was at least some of each one left for Weiss to try. Weiss noticed, and apriciated the sentiment.

Weiss paid the bill, not letting Ruby see what it was, and the two girls left the cafe, feeling satisfied. "I wish I could eat like that every day~" Ruby said wistfully. "Though maybe its good I don't, because it'd sure bring up one heck of a tummy ache."

Weiss nodded. "It would, if you did every day." She and Ruby walked. At some point, people started looking at them. Whispering and pointing. Ruby couldn't figure out why. Unless they were looking at..

"Hey Weiss? Where are we going?"

Weiss tilted her head. "I thought I was following you."

Someone touched Ruby's shoulder, startling her. She whipped out a flexible rubber wand with a sharp tip from seemingly out of nowhere and slapped the hand with it, jumping away. "Crescent rose strikes agaaain~" she hissed. Someone with a camera held their hand in pain, glaring at Ruby. "..what?" Ruby had no idea what was going on.

Weiss seemed to though. She took Ruby's hand, and speed walked off into a secluded area. Ruby was a little out of breath after that, as she was still a little sore from her earlier jog and all the walking they had just done combined.

"What was that? Why did he have a camera? Was he looking at you?" Ruby asked innocently.

Weiss looked around to make sure no one was nearby, and gave Ruby an exasperated expression "I, told you my name. I thought you'd figure it out from that.. What's your full name?" Weiss asked.

"I'm Ruby Rose." Ruby replied, not seeing where Weiss was going with this.

Weiss nodded "And my name, is Weiss Schnee."

...wait what

Weiss... Schnee? The Weiss Schnee? Weiss Schnee, daughter of that really rich guy who owns Schnee corporations?

No way. Ruby shook her head in disbelief. Surely, there was no way Weiss was that Weiss. "You're kidding right? There's no way..." Ruby saw that Weiss wasn't joking. "Seriously..? Like, for real? You're Schnee.. Why are you even talking to me? Aren't I like, a, peasant? Wait is that how rich people think? How much did that cafe cost? Wait I Can't, wait.." Ruby sunk to the floor, sitting crosslegged while trying to wrap her head around the situation.

Weiss spoke softly. "You don't have to act that surprised..."

Ruby stiffened, and shook her head while quickly standing back up. "Nonononono it's not a bad thing, it's just like, uh, surprising is all! I mean like..." She looked Weiss over. "I guess my image of 'weiss schnee' is some sillouet in a fancy dress, not a snow angel–"

"Snow angel?" Weiss's cheeks reddened.

"Ahhk no wait don't, I didn't mean, shoot shoot shoot shoot." Ruby turned away from Weiss and held her head in her hands.

"Does your, friendship offer still stand?" Weiss asked, Ruby still not looking at her.

Ruby nodded. She couldn't look Weiss in the eyes. Snow angel? Did she seriously just say that? Ruby felt like crawling into a black hole. She wanted to answer Weiss... Ruby pulled out her phone and texted.

Ruby: yes

Ruby: we're friends now

Ruby: and were going trick or treating in October i don't care if we're adults we're going we'll borrow someone's kid and take them with us if we have to

Ruby heard Weiss laugh a little, and upon glancing back she saw Weiss reading her texts. Ruby's phone buzzed

Weiss: Thank you.

Ruby felt her entire face flush red. She tried to cover her face with her hands, and in doing so, flung her phone at Weiss as she was still facing away from her. "AHH!" Ruby squeaked and turned around, just in time to see Weiss catch her phone neatly in her hands. Even Weiss was surprised by her own good catch. She tossed Ruby's phone back to her, Ruby immediately shoving it in her pocket so she wouldn't throw it again.

Weiss kicked the ground awkwardly. "I need to get going but..."

"Lets do this again some time?" Ruby finished.

Weiss nodded. she and Ruby walked out of the alley together, and went their separate ways. When Ruby got home, yang was watching some boxing Match on TV, yelling encouragement at the players. Ruby felt at home.

Until her phone rang. It wasn't the right ringtone? Ruby pulled out her phone, to see... It wasn't her phone. It rang again. She answered it.

Weiss's voice came from the other end. "I swear I did not do this on purpose."
