Previously on Handcuffs. . .

"It's nothing. Don't worry, honey," he automatically replied, his eyes never leave the retreating figure's back.

An hour hasn't even passed and Light already knew he hated that cocky bastard.

CHAPTER 11

How did that criminal prosecutor dick know Light may be potentially bisexual?

It wasn't fair.

"What was the new guy saying earlier, Light?" Misa asked again, holding his hand.

"Nothing of any significance," Light muttered, "that insolent bastard. Damn it. I might as well write his name in the blank space."

"Huh?" She seemed really confused now.

L looked back and stuck out his tongue playfully before wrapping an arm around the prosecutor's waist. Light gritted his teeth at the sight. To anybody it would have looked like a cute couple's first date. He hated that. Light would never admit that out loud, but, he knew he did not like the sight. It grated on his nerves seeing L touch him like that. If only that dick knew he was actually a guy. Mikami. He just needs the last name and L will only be his.

Wait.

What?!

There's no way he is turning into a possessive freak for L out of all people. It cannot be.

"Something is seriously wrong with you nowadays, Light," Misa sighed. "Do you not, like, trust me or something?"

"No, I," Light sighed, "it's really complicated right now. I don't want to get you involved."

"Aww, that's sweet," the gothic Lolita smiled and clutched on to him tighter.

"I guess," he replied, still throwing daggers made of glares at Mikami's back.

"See, you're doing it again," Misa giggled then lowered her voice to an excited whisper. "It's about L and Mikami, hm? You don't approve of him to be his date, huh?"

"W-what?" Light stammered out and frowned deeply. "No, of course not. I don't give a single damn about those bastards."

"Really, Light," Misa smirked and laughed.

"Yes, really, love," he said coolly, knowing he was full-out lying.

"Whatever you say, Light," she beamed, seeing right through her supposed 'boyfriend' act.

"You don't believe me?"

"Never," Misa laughed. "You're so intelligent who knows what kind of secrets you have hidden! Especially the one how Ryuzaki keeps stating you're-"

"Shh! Please, don't remind me of that." Light spat out, disgusted, shuddering.

She winked. "It must really bother you, hm?"

"Of course!" He said a bit too loudly for his liking.

"So, it must be some kind of important thing to you!"

"I. . . I guess?"

"Hmmm," Misa tapped her chin cutely, pouting, "are you gay, Light?"

"N-No!"

"Bi?"

"No! Why do you even-"

"Just checking," she giggled. "Even if you were gay, I'd still date you. All girls want a gay boyfriend, you know."

"Um-"

"It's true!" A bystander girl wearing big glasses with messy hair and baggy clothes cackled, then walked away.

"See," Misa smirked. "even she said so."

"She was a random person-"

"Still, honestly, Light. Just tell me anything, kay?~"

Light sighed. "Of course, Misa."

"I know when you're lying. I'm not sure if it's an added ability of these eyes," Misa stuck out her tongue in an adorable manner, "but, just don't do it."

"Okay."

"Yay! Let's catch up to those two love birds, nee!" Misa grabbed Light's hand and started to drag him along as she sprinted towards them.

The atmosphere was very lovey dovey indeed. Cherry blossom trees decorated the streets, petals falling 5 cm per second. A slight breeze was in the air. A few clouds covered the sky; rays of sunlight peeking through occasionally. Namely, it was the perfect day for romancing. Dammit, that Mikami douche better not try anything on him. Wait, why is he even concerned about L? He can handle himself. He's the number one detective in the world. Technically, top three, but, same thing essentially.

"What took you two so long?" Mikami snickered once we were beside them.

"Perhaps they're making out," L softly stated, smirking at Light.

The brunette scowled. "You guys basically ditched us!"

Mikami raised an eyebrow. "Pardon me? You two were walking way too slow. We were walking normal pace."

"Is speed walking normal pace?"

L laughed. "To us, yes."

Light hated how he said us. It just made him bubble with anger and something else.

"No, you two were walking too fast. It could be classified as nearly a jog!"

"Might as well burn some calories while it's still nice outside," Mikami mused, smirking. "Anyway, let's eat now. I'm hungry."

"Me too," L pouted then grasped his wrist, gingerly. "It's this way."

"Okay. Show me then." Mikami smiled and laughed, eyes softening at the sight of L.

Light bit his lip to stop a growl from emerging. This sight is sickening. Cancerous. He could vomit right here and there. He hated how close they've grown in only mere hours. It wasn't fair. L would always suspect that he was a mass murderer. He'd never treat him the way he is to Mikami. This is hardly justice. Rather injustice. Why did Light even bother to care about that detective? Oh yeah, we just happened to be arch enemies. Great. Falling for your enemy has never been more fun. No, Light, what the hell are you thinking?! That isn't what's happening! Not at all. Goddammit, Light, make up your fricking mind already.

Two voices in his head argued back and forth senselessly. (Voice 1 = italics, Voice 2 = bold, Light = underline)

Light, just admit it already. You are gay or bisexual or whatever the hell is the equivalent to falling for L.

No. You're wrong. No way.

Yeah.

I am truly an idiot indeed. How long are you going to keep denying your feelings? Just listen. Reflect about past events between me and him. Of course, you like him. You're just too scared to admit it.

I am not scared.

Really? *scoff* Sounds like you are to me. And I am you, so-

Shut up, me. These feelings are not supposed to exist for enemies.

You know what they say. Keep you friends close and enemies-

Closer, yeah, I get it. What's your point?

*sigh* I, or we, may want to confess before it's too late.

?

I swear, we are as dumb as Misa sometimes. Speaking of her, Light, you never did like her. You just like the idea of her Shinigami Eyes, right?

No.

Oh Kami-sama. You know what? Fine. Ignore L. Screw things up. Wait until the last moment. But, remember. Don't regret it. You don't want to be the one confessing at his death bed.

. . . what?

You'll see soon enough. Or, perhaps, we're the ones who'll be six feet under. Who knows what destiny has in store for all of us.

A/N: sorry for not updating! a lot of stuff has been happening lately (I like this guy, built up courage to ask him out, school, work, etc) is reaching 53 reviews too much to ask? ^^
