Although Armageddon had finally come and gone, there was still one last remaining problem. The revenants were restored, but still trapped in the Nettherrealm. Something had to be done.
Raiden gathered Sonya, Jax, Sub-Zero, and Johnny Cage together for this final mission. They hopefully wouldn't need too many but he figured it was best to get the most experienced of Earthrealm's forces together for this mission.
They were gathered at the Nexus and Raiden stood in front of the portal to the Netherrealm. He paced in front of it as he began to explain, "We are here to finally set right what went wrong over two decades ago. We are here today to do this, together. While the Netherrealm has no leader, that doesn't mean we should go into this expecting it to be easy. Indeed, they will most likely be on higher alert than ever. So we must tread lightly and escape as quickly as possible."
"I have brought the bodies of all of our deceased allies to the Nexus. When they are removed from the Netherrealm, they will be spirits," Raiden continued as he motioned to their corpses, "They can either choose to return to their mortal bodies or ascend."
Johnny Cage raised his hand, "Alright this sounds like a great plan and all but I have a question. How will we find them? The Netherrealm is a big place and there's only five of us."
"We will just have to hope they haven't left the the Brotherhood's temple."
Johnny Cage tugged at an invisible collar as he gulped, "So, on the off chance that they did try to escape on their own...we'd have to scour the Netherrealm for them?"
"Unfortunately, yes. Still, they will have attracted the attention of the Brotherhood. There's a good chance they're either imprisoned or at the very least being hunted. This is why we must hurry."
"Let's not waste anymore time, then. Let's go," Jax confidently said while cracking his knuckles.
The five of them departed to the Netherrealm. When they crossed to the other side, things were in disarray. Without Shinnok, Noob, Liu Kang, or even someone like Quan-Chi to give the realm a sense of order it had fallen into chaos. It seemed like it came to a head at the Brotherhood's temple, where a horde of Oni, low level sorcerers, and various other demons had gathered at the front. It seemed like they were trying to break into the towering structure.
Sonya shook her head at the disorder, "Looks like this might be harder than we thought it would be."
"Yeah, I'll say," Johnny replied while lowering his sunglasses, his jaw slightly agape.
"We can't let this deter us, the souls of our friends depend on it," Sub-Zero encouraged.
Then they overheard one of the reasons why they were so determined to get in. "Whoever possesses Shinnok's head controls the Netherrealm! And it shall be me!," one of the Oni shouted.
Raiden looked to the tower and then to everyone else. He then teleported the rest of them inside, quickly resolving the issue. They found themselves in the throne room. Before anyone could say a word, they were instantly silent when they saw a familiar face among them. Sitting on the throne was none other than Shang Tsung.
"Ahhh, Raiden. A most pleasant surprise. I see you've brought some friends as well," the sorcerer said with a sly grin across his face. "Have you come here to save the souls of the revenants you'd forsaken long ago?" He chuckled, "I know where they are. But I'll only tell you if you help me with something.
Jax growled, "Yeah? How 'bout we just beat that info out of you?"
Shang got up from his throne, "Beat it out of me? How presumptuous. All I ask is a small favor. But if you refuse, then-" before he could finish, the door leading to the throne room broke down and what remained of the Brotherhood of Shadow filled the room in mere seconds. Instead of looking to fight Earthrealm's defenders, they instead gathered around the sorcerer.
"You have no claim to that throne," one of them spoke out, "this belongs to us! Only we may decide our leader."
Shang sneered, "I have every right to this throne! Who else but I could lead this clan to greatness once more?"
Someone stepped out from the crowd of black clad warriors and mages. Wearing a harness and armor not too dissimilar from Shao Kahn's own, a man stepped forward. The black markings were all too familiar. It was Reiko. "I can. Your so called claim is meaningless. It is I who holds claim to this throne. I have served Shinnok before as a general. It's my turn to lead, now. In his name!" He raised his arms in the air as the Brotherhood cheered. "I will restore this clan! We've strayed too far from the path of Shinnok!"
"Let us not forget you left Shinnok," Shang pointed out, "you left the army to work for Shao Kahn instead. Do you all want this traitor leading you? His loyalty is not to Shinnok, but to himself."
They all looked to each other, some agreeing with the sorcerer but others still siding with the general. Reiko clenched his fist as he bared his teeth, "Then there's only one way to settle this. Shang Tsung, I challenge you to Mortal Kombat."
Shang crossed his arms, "So be it."
"Wait," Johnny interjected, "what about us? We aren't involved with this, can't we just go?"
Sonya slugged him in the shoulder, "We can't just let this happen!"
"Yes we can," Raiden admitted, "this is none of our business. We have only come here to reclaim our friends."
Shang snapped at them, "You can't have them! Nor can you leave."
Reiko stepped in front of Tsung, "Yes, they can. This is between you and me sorcerer. This is none of their business." He motioned to the doorway, "Guards, step aside. Let them leave."
Dejected, Shang relented, "So be it."
The five of them walked out as the fight began. The sounds of kombat were loud. Pained grunts, the impactsof well placed blows, and the battle calls were numerous. Whoever might win would control the Netherrealm.
Sonya pulled Raiden aside when the stepped out, "What the hell? We can't just let this happen! We could've taken them all on easily."
"The Brotherhood is wounded. No matter who wins, they will never be the great threat they once were. If we're lucky, they'll tear themselves apart."
"But...!"
"But nothing. We're not here to fight. He marched off, the others following suit. Sonya clenched the bridge of her nose but didn't have time to express her disappointment beyond that.
They trekked through the temple, hoping that perhaps the revenants would be around the area. This would prove to be correct as they heard something coming from the dungeons. They ran down as quick as they could.
Waiting for them were Kabal, Sindel, Stryker, and Kung Lao. All were restored to their original forms, hung up on the wall by their arms. Stryker was the first to notice, "Would you look at that...we've been waiting for you guys."
Raiden gave a warm smile, "It's so good to see you all like this again." He pointed to the shackles, "Sub-Zero, freeze those!'
The Lin Kuei obliged, encasing all of their shackles in ice. Raiden shot out a bolt of lightning across all 16 shackles, shattering the frozen chains constraints. The revenants fell on the floor, unable to get up.
Sub-Zero knelt down to Sindel to pick her up. Her eyes met his and she asked him something, "My daughter...how is she? I know you saved her."
"She's just fine," Sub-Zero responded as he hoisted her up on his shoulder.
"I must thank you. Without you, she'd still be here suffering with us."
"Think nothing of it," he said with a hint of gratitude in his voice, "I was only doing what was right. Just wish I could've saved the rest of you."
"You're only one person, Sub-Zero. Just be glad you managed to save at least one of us."
As they talked, Jax picked both Kabal and Stryker up. Kabal was passed out but Stryker was still conscious. He grinned, "Finally on my way out of this accursed realm."
Jax gave a wild smile back at him, "Aww yeah, man. Soon you'll be back in the world of the livin'!"
Finally, Raiden pulled Kung Lao up from the cold rugged stone floor beneath them. All he could do was apologize, "I'm sorry about everything. This should've never happened."
"At least this this nightmare is over. I've been waiting so long."
"The wait is over. Kung Jin will be pleased to see his cousin again."
"The feeling is mutual."
Before the group departed, they felt the ceiling shake. The sounds of a hundred feet stomping across the floor above them shook the place. It appears the demons had finally made their way into the temple.
Raiden motioned his head towards the exit, "Everybody hurry!"
When they made their way out of the dungeon, the hoard of Netherrealm denizens was almost unreal. They were crowding the entire first floor. It seemed like it might've been hard to leave, but the demons didn't even notice the Earthrealmers. Instead they hurried to the stairs. With nothing in their way, the Earthrealm heroes just walked out of the temple uninhibited.
As they left, the tower itself began to crumble. Indeed, the temple was falling apart. Unable to take the chaos within and around it. It was almost as if this signaled the end of the Brotherhood.
None of them even looked back as the temple collapsed. They were focused entirely on leaving that wretched realm. When they reached the portal to the nexus, they all stepped out one by one.
When they did leave, the bodies of the revenants vanished. In their place were their souls. Each one of them returned to their once lifeless corpses. Their eyes opened.
Kabal was the first to get up off the ground. He looked across his body and laughed joyously, "I'm alive! I almost forgot what it was like!"
Next was Styker. He sat up, still grinning happily, "Yeah! I'm back!" His grin then went to a more neutral expression, "I hope the police force will take me back. I'm gonna have a hard time explaining this one."
Third was Kung Lao. He spun up from the floor, "Unbelievable! I never thought I'd feel like this again."
Finally, Sindel simply hovered back up. She felt the same excitement as the others but her reaction was more subdued, "This felt like it was a long time coming."
What had once went wrong so many years ago had finally been set right. Raiden approached the portal to Earthrealm, "It's time we went home."
His arm reached out to the stone circle, "Come along, then."
They approached the portal and most of them entered. Raiden blocked Sub-Zero from entering, "Sub-Zero, if you would be so kind, would you mind escorting Sindel back to Edenia? It would be a shame if she went alone."
"I don't need anybody to escort me," Sindel stated. "Although, I do appreciate the sentiment."
"It would be no trouble to me," Kuai replied with a bow, "I will gladly take you back to your realm."
"If you insist."
The two exited the Nexus into Edenia. Raiden smirked, "It took over two decades but I did it. Armageddon has been prevented and the revenants are restored." After saying that, the Thunder God walked through the portal to Earthrealm.
Epilogue
White Lotus Temple
Kung Lao stood at the gate of the White Lotus' compound. He deeply sighed, "How long has it been?"
He knocked at the gates. They opened wide and when the monks saw him they all couldn't believe their eyes. The one waiting for him at the entrance's eyes were so wide it was almost comical. He got past this however and bowed, "Kung Lao! Why, I can hardly believe you're here!"
"I can't believe it either. It seems like a dream..."
"Well what are you waiting for?! I'm sure your cousin will be glad to see you."
Kung Lao responded with a simple nod and stepped inside. It was almost entirely unchanged since he left. A feeling of nostalgia swelled as he looked around. "Tell me, where is Jin?"
"He's in the monastery right now."
The shaolin warrior raised his arm and hand in front of the monk, silently telling him he wanted to be left alone. The monk bowed and backed off. The monastery was in the center of the walled compound, just as he remembered it being. When he arrived, he just stood in front of the church. What was he going to say to his cousin? What could he say? He hadn't seen him since he was a kid!
Without warning, the door to the monastery flew open and someone ended up walking right into Lao, knocking him right off his feet. Without even looking at him, Lao snapped at him, "Hey! Watch where you're go-" that's when he saw it was his cousin. He was speechless.
Jin gasped, "Lao? Is that really you!?"
"It is," he said while rubbing his forehead.
Jin could only muster one thing to say, "You should watch where you're standing."
"And you should watch where you're going!"
The bickering soon turned to laughter as the two embraced each other in a hug.
"I can't believe it. I never thought I'd see you again. Not like this, at least."
"It's okay, Jin. I'm not going anywhere anymore. I'll always be here for you now."
The two went quiet after that. They didn't need to say another word. Family being united like this was more than enough. A few minutes passed before Kung Lao spoke up, "Listen, how would you like to train under me?"
"I'd like nothing more," Jin answered with a wobbly smile as tears welled up in his eyes.
"Then let's go." The cousins departed for the dojo to make up for lost time, reunited after so many years.
At an Earthrealm Police Station
The police chief tapped his fingers on his desk as he glared at the two men sitting in front of him. One wearing a tactical blue outfit alongside a baseball cap. The other man was covered in burn scars and wore a goofy looking mask. An awkward silence passed between the three of them. The chief then spoke up, "So...lemme get this straight. You two used to be cops 'round here 'fore you died?"
"That's correct," the man covered in scars answered, "we were also corrupted, lived in Hell for about two decades, but now we're alive and not corrupt."
"Uh-huh," the chief responded slowly, sipping a cup of coffee. "Can I get yer names at least? I wanna look you two up in my database."
"Stryker," the man in the cap, "Kurtis Stryker."
"And my name's Kabal," the masked man added.
The chief typed their names into a computer and sure enough, their files were pulled up. The chief was flabbergasted, "Yeah, yeah I see you two in here alright. Says you two were killed in action 20 years ago!"
"Yep," Kabal said in a fairly bored sounding tone, "remember that invasion from another dimension? We died in that. But we're back now so we just want to know if we can have our jobs back."
"It's a simple request really," Stryker interjected.
"Boys, I'm honestly not sure how to handle this. We've had officers retire and come back before but we never had anyone die and then come back here. I was just a rookie when that invasion happened! Never in my life did I think I'd have to think about this. Just when you think you've seen it all..." He removed his hat to fan himself with it.
"It's simple," Kabal started, "just put us back in. Like if we were MIA and then came back. That's essentially what happened."
"You were KIA not MIA! We have proof of it and everything! I don't think I'm allowed to just put you back in!"
"Do we need to take a DNA test to prove it's us," Stryker asked, "I mean, I'd be down to do that. You have our DNA on file."
"Alright, alright, fine," the chief replied with a nonplussed tone, "we'll take a DNA test and if it comes back positive I'll let you two back into the force."
Kabal and Stryker hi-fived. The chief pulled himself up from his chair and led them to a DNA tester. He plucked two strands of their hair and scanned them. To his surprise, the results came back positive. The two were indeed Kurtis Stryker and Kabal.
The chief looked at the results and then to the two of them with a slightly agape mouth. "What the fu-"
He was interrupted by the two cheering, overjoyed at having gotten their jobs back.
The Edenian Palace
Sub-Zero led Sindel to the Edenian palace just as they were putting up a statue of King Jerrod where the monument to Shao Kahn once stood. The former queen was delighted to see this, "My beloved husband..."
When they approached, the two green clad guards standing in front of the entrance knelt before her. "Your majesty," they said in unison
She softly waved her hand, "Now now, that isn't necessary."
They stood back up, "Yes, of course, your highness. Thank you for your humbleness."
She waved them off as she marched inside, Sub-Zero following behind her. The hallways were decorated in a vast tapestry depicting Edenia's history on both walls. She looked to Sub-Zero, "Isn't it beautiful, Sub-Zero?"
He remained silent. She tilted her head, "You don't have to be so stoic, you know. Is there anything bothering you?"
"No, it's nothing, your highness."
"Please don't get started on that too. Just call me Sindel. Royalty or not, I want to be treated like everybody else."
"Ahh, I'm sorry," he responded before going silent again. She frowned but didn't say anything. It's clear she wasn't going to get a response from him.
They arrived in the Queen's corridor and sitting in the throne was Kitana. She couldn't believe her eyes. "Mother...?"
Sindel smiled upon seeing her daughter, "That's right, Kitana. It's so wonderful seeing what you've done with Edenia. I'm so proud of you."
"You are? I always wanted to hear that from you."
"You've become my little Queen," she said with deep pride in Kitana.
Kitana looked almost confused when Sindel had said that, "But you're the Queen of Edenia."
"I had my time. You're the Queen now, Kitana. I'd hate to interrupt all the great work you're doing." Sindel opened her arms wide and Kitana ran straight into her, burying her face in her mother's shoulder.
"I simply don't know what to say..."
"Then don't say anything."
The two embraced each other for a solid minute or two. This is the first time they had actually hugged each other so both wanted to make it count.
As they did, Sub-Zero silently attempted to leave but Kitana called out to him, "Kuai!"
He turned back to her, somewhat shocked she used his real name. She motioned for him to come back. He marched back over to her, "Yes, your highness?"
"You and I...we've been through a lot haven't we? You helped me escape the Netherrealm and I'm so grateful for it. You've been so kind to me. When I offered you a place in Edenia, I didn't just mean as part of my defense force...I also meant by my side."
Kuai looked at her in the eye and then diverted his gaze away. It took him a couple seconds to gather up the words he needed. "We have, yes. If it weren't for you, I'd be dead. You saved me from Triborg after all, among other things. Ever since you asked if I wanted to stay here, I knew you wanted me to be more than just a simple guard. I've been so conflicted. I don't know if I'm ready to do this."
"I don't know either but I want to find out, together," she said while making her way towards him. "I always regretted not confessing my feelings to Liu until it was too late. I don't want to make the same mistake with you." She gently wrapped her hand around his.
He looked down, his eyes conveying a mix of joy yet sorrow, "I...I don't know if I'm ready to sit by your side on the throne."
Disappointment swelled within Kitana, "I get it. And I respect your decision, Kuai."
"You didn't let me finish. While I'm not sure if I'm ready to become the King to your Queen, I have decided that I will bring a sect of the Lin Kuei here and personally oversee them. I will gladly stay in Edenia, for now."
Kitana's disappointed soon turned to happiness, "That's all I could ask for. Thank you, Kuai."
Sindel hovered over to them with a coy smirk, "Well isn't this sweet?" The two blushed while chuckling awkwardly.
Sub-Zero then bowed before the two of them, "Well, if you two will excuse me I'll be heading off for Earthrealm. Don't worry, I'll be back."
Kitana waved him off, "I'll be waiting for you."
Outworld, at Kotal Kahn's Fortress
Shao Kahn, Kotal Kahn, and selected members of his army were in the war room of Kotal's fortress. Each of them seated across from each other. In the middle of the room was a cage. Standing in that cage was an enraged Mileena. Her newfound face had mostly shifted back to the monstrous face now that Noob was dead. As one could imagine, this didn't make her any happier.
"We are gathered here today to discuss an important matter," Kotal Kahn began, "we are here to discuss on what we should do with Mileena."
Reptile was the first to speak out, "I sssay we execute her again! Let her pay for her crimesss!"
Mileena growled at him, "If it were up to me, I'd have you executed you traitor!" All Reptile did in response was hiss at her.
"Alright, let's try to keep this civil," Kotal interjected. "Mileena do you have anything to say for yourself?"
She snarled at him, her anger reaching a boiling point. Kotal looked entirely unimpressed, "Well if that's all you have to say, then I suppose I have no other choice. Skarlet, dispose of her."
Skarlet stood up but before she could do anything, Shao placed his hand on her shoulder. He merely glared at her and she sat back down. His glare was then directed to Kotal, "This is an outrage! I won't allow you to execute her!"
Kotal was angered by this but also quite curious, "You won't? Then explain yourself. Maybe you'll be able to convince us."
"She's my daughter and I won't allow you to kill her."
Everyone in the room was baffled by this response. Erron spoke out, "Wait so yer tellin' me a big bad monster guy like you actually cares fer someone?"
"She was my heir to the throne. While that has changed, she is still family."
Mileena's demeanor shifted from seething to happy in an instant, "Oh daddy, I knew I was your favorite! Now bust me out of here so we can kill all of these traitors! We can retake Outworld for the Kahnum!"
"That's not who I am anymore. The Konquerer died in Armageddon. I am now protector of this realm. What I used to be before the corruption of the One Being reached me."
Mileena tilted her head, utterly confused by this statement. "What do you mean," she asked.
"I've changed. I want to think you can too. You might not be Empress, or even the Emperor's daughter but you can still play an important role in Outworld."
Kotal was almost impressed with Shao Kahn's resolve, "I still don't entirely trust you...but you do make a compelling point here. I never thought you could save us from the destruction of reality itself, but here we are. Still though, do you really think this psychotic wench has any chance of redemption?"
Shao snarled as he balled up his hands into fists. He took a deep breath, trying to remain calm.
As the room fell silent, Reptile spoke up, "Who'sss to sssay you have changed, Ssshao? While you have sssaved usss from Armageddon doesss that truly make up for what you've done? You exterminated my people. Every lassst one of them except me! Anytime I wanted them back, you've alwaysss denied me! I can't even believe I'm sssitting in the sssame room asss you right now! It ssseemsss absssurd, even!" He stood up from his chair and walked up to the former emperor, "You abusssed me! Usssed me asss your puppet! Had I the choice, I'd have you executed too! Repeatedly!"
Shao stood up from his seat, towering over the Zaterran. He bared his teeth and grabbed Reptile by the shoulder. This move caused the tension in the room to spike. Shao was unpredictable but it seemed like they had trouble brewing. Reptile didn't back down, even in the face of this intimidation. Shao breathed deeply and looked the reptillian in the eye.
"You have every right to despise me," Shao began, "while my war with the Zaterrans was out of self defense, it did end up going too far. Rep- errr, Syzoth I realize the pain you feel. I can never truly understand it, but I realize it now. Far too late, I know. There's nothing I can do. I won't even ask for forgiveness. I don't deserve it. But I will see what I can do about the Zaterrans. You joined me out of the promise I could do something and I will fulfill that. I mean it this time."
Reptile was expecting a fight but what he got was almost harder to deal with. Shao Kahn had never acted like this, at least not to him. Could it be he truly was a changed man? Still, Reptile had enough of his empty promises. He batted Shao's arm off of him and sneered, "Your wordsss mean nothing me. Only once I sssee resssultsss will I even think about tolerating your presssence."
Shao frowned angrily. It was clear he wasn't all too please with Reptile swatting his arm away. He sat back down, trying his best to control his temper. Kotal motioned for Reptile to do the same.
Mileena didn't even have anything to say. She was simply stumped at Shao Kahn. The once powerful konquerer somewhat apologized to Reptile of all people! Indeed, she wasn't sure what to think. Her mixed feelings rattled around in her head. Was Kotal right after all? Would she even have a chance to prove he was?
"It's clear we've reached an impasse," Kotal stated, "we need the opinion of someone who knows what it's like to be like Mileena. An artificial creation of Shao Kahn would know best." He point to Skarlet, "What do you think? Is there a chance for Mileena or is there nothing we can do?"
"Mileena is clearly a threat to our empire. While I'm an artificial creation, I'm no abomination like she is. The devastation she's caused Outworld is too much to count. I'd say execute her and be done."
"Then we're decided," Kotal replied, "Mileena is to be executed." He turned to Mileena, "Do you have any final words?"
"Just the answer I expected out of the lot of you," Mileena responded, not with anger but with a hint of sorrow instead, "all my life I've been considered an abomination by all except my own creator. Is it because of the damage my rebellion has done to this realm? No, since even before that people have considered me a horrible monster! Even my "sister" Skarlet betrayed me! The only people who accepted me was a traitor, Tanya, and the Tarkata. And the Tarkata didn't see me as a monster because I looked just like them. I'm sure you'd all feel the same if I looked just like you."
Reptile scoffed at her pleas, "Hah! Look at me! I am far from human or any other humanoid here. Yet they sssee me asss an equal! I am just asss monssstrousss asss you!"
"And I too am an artificial creation of Shao Kahn," Skarlet added, "you were mentally unstable. That's all there is to it."
"But neither had the burden of having to live with both," Mileena cried out, "whereas I have been rejected for both being an inhuman monster and an artificial creation born from Shang Tsung's flesh pits! I was just born when I found myself in the position of being being Empress! Of course I was unstable! By the time I realized what I was doing it was too late."
"Then why didn't you side with Earthrealm when the Netherrealm invaded," Kotal inquired.
Mileena snapped at him, "They killed my father! The only real family I had after my sister rejected me and Skarlet refused me! Of course I wasn't going to side with them!"
Sheeva then stepped in, "I think I've heard enough. I have decided Mileena is worth sparing. I find it almost barbaric we're even considering her execution."
Shao Kahn agreed, "I will not let her execution stand."
Kotal relented, "Very well, I suppose we shall spare her. But if she should act up, I will not hesitate on execution." He then turned his attention to Shao, "And let me make it clear I feel the same towards you. One wrong move and you're done for, Shao."
Shao scowled, "Then I will have to practice caution, then."
"I would advise that." Kotal had Reptile unlock the cage, much to the Zaterran's chagrin.
Mileena stepped out from the small prison, "I'm surprised that actually worked."
"If it weren't for Sheeva and Shao, it wouldn't have," Kotal admitted, "Perhaps this act of mercy can teach you something, though. I hope you won't disappoint us."
"Trust me, I won't."
"We shall see," Kotal said as he stood up from his seat, "with that, this meeting is adjourned." He alongside everyone else had departed. All except Mileena and Shao Kahn.
As Shao was making his way for the door, Mileena grabbed him by the arm and asked a question, "Why are you working under Kotal now? Why did you change?"
"I saw the future...a world where I had won."
"Was it beautiful?"
"No, it wasn't. What I saw was a world without life. A world with nothing to Konquer. There was only me...I had killed them. Everyone was dead. Without anybody to rule over, what is the point of power? I realized what I was chasing was a fruitless goal. While I am still getting use to my new role, I don't intend on ever going back?"
Mileena was quiet. She wasn't sure how to respond to that answer outside of lowering her head. Shao gave her one last look before walking away. He had nothing else to say on the matter.
The half tarkatan woman followed directly after him. She wasn't sure what she was going to do from this point forward. Whatever it might be, she wanted to follow in her father's footsteps. Whether it be what he was like before or what he was now she just wasn't sure...
And so concludes the Return of Shao Kahn. I am so sorry this ending took so long to get out, but computer issues factored into it so at least I somewhat have an excuse this time. All the same, this is definitely ending on a bit of a sequel tease which...may or may not happen? It's definitely possible but no promises. If you've managed to stick around this long, I am so grateful. Going by word count this is my longest story by a longshot. It's definitely not perfect, especially from the beginning, but I'm glad I managed to at least finish it. Thank you so much for reading. It really does mean a lot. I just hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
Now, I realize there might be people unhappy with this ending! I would totally understand why too. A lot of you might see the redemption thing as forced and unlikely. I was split on whether I was going to do it myself (as I said in the last chapter). Well, while the main story has wrapped up I might just write an alternate ending. So even if the story is labelled as complete there's one more chapter that might come of it yet. Maybe.
Also yes, I realize how funny it is this was finished after the actual MK11 was announced. Anyways, thanks again for reading! Have a great day!
