Days past and things had started to go back to normal. The citizens of New York started to go back to their old jobs and rebuilt their lives and city back to what it was before the whole invasion. They had gone back to their lair only to see it in shambles. It had taken them almost a week of non stop cleaning and fixing to get it look back to normal. Patrols have been going smoothly so far and they had been keeping an extra eye out in case they saw Slash's mate. But they had no such luck.
Slash had been coming down to their lair more frequently to get updates from them only to leave in disappointment. They had become quite worried about him. They had started to notice changes in him. He rarely ate and slept and it was beginning to show on his form and behavior. The slightest thing would set him of and Master Splinter had enough and decide to intervene.
"Hey guys! I brought pizza!" April called out as she walked into the lair.
"Alright!" Mikey said rushing towards her to get a slice for himself and Kayla.
"Hey Slash, catch!" Raphael said tossing him a slice of pizza and he easily caught it. Slash pause in mid bite and sniffed the air. He stalked over to April, leaning down and sniffed her.
"Slash?" April chuckled nervously at his strange behavior and his eyes narrowed at her.
"April I'm only going to ask once. Where. Is. She." He hiss venomously. Her eyes widen in shock and she fumbled over her words.
"I don't know what you're talking about"
"I can smell her on you" he growled. He knew Anna's scent anywhere, though it smelt slightly different, it was definitely hers.
"I-I can't tell you, s-she made me promise" she admitted. He snarled at her answer and began leaving the lair.
"Slash wait!" She called out to stop him "She's moved on!" That made him pause in his steps and he turned to face her.
"You lie!" he yelled at her.
"…Slash I saw—" April tried to explain.
"SHE'S MINE!" He roared.
"Humans are kind of fickle when it comes to partners" Cat pointed out with a shrug. Slash snarled at her comment.
"Catharine you're not helping" Donatello whispered harshly at her and she mumbled out a soft apology.
"Slash calm down! You're becoming unreasonable!" Leonardo shouted as Slash fled the lair. He sighed and turned to everyone else as they sighed and went back to keep cleaning knowing there was nothing they could do to stop him.
"Thanks guys, we really appreciate you helping us out this past week" Leo said picking up the last of the trash.
"No problem Leo" April nodded to him.
"Yeah you guys are our friends, practically family" Casey added.
"Almost" Cat smirked "I'd give it a couple more years" she gave a wink towards Donnie as his eyes widen. Master Splinter cleared his throat to let the blond know he was still in the room. However it only caused her to grin wide "Of course, not without getting your blessing first Master Splinter" he raised an eyebrow at her in amusement.
"You're unbelievable you know that" April rolled her eyes at Cat.
"Jealous" Cat smirked.
April scoffed "How do you even know if it's going to last that long?"
"You wouldn't understand, you're human" Cat brushed her off.
"Cat" Nia scolded.
"Sorry 1/2 human 1/2 alien" she corrected herself remembering the fact that April had Kraang DNA.
"Shut up Cat!" Nia grabbed her and dragged her out of the lair much to Cat's protests.
Splinter sighed watching the girls "I'm getting to old for this" he muttered to himself and left the room to meditated and let them figure this out on their own.
"April I-I'm sorry f-for Cat's b-behavior" Skyler quickly apologized.
"You shouldn't apologize Sky, you did nothing wrong" April said blinking back tears.
"It still doesn't excuse the way she's been acting" Kayla sighed.
"What's her deal anyway? Why does she hate humans so much?" Casey asked.
"She doesn't hate them, she's just…cautious about them" Kayla tried to explain.
"Why?" Mikey blurted out.
"We haven't had the best experiences with them" Kayla said quietly.
Leo nodded in understandment after hearing Nia's past he would be weary of them too. Nia was handling it much better than Cat. It made him curious on what the other girls have been through.
"You mean the bullying at school?" Casey frowned.
"Among other things" Kayla said slightly surprised that he knew they were bullied at school.
"Bullied?" April said confused with this new bit of information.
"I saw it happen once, I was going to help but they seem to have it under control" Casey shrugged.
"Who are these people? I'll find them and I'll beat them to a pulp! No one messes with my girl and her friends and gets away with it!" Raph said punching his palm with his fist. Skyler flushed at his proclamation.
Kayla laughed and poked her friend's side teasingly "Hear that Sky, you're his girl"
Raphael stumbled back with a slight blush on his face. They hadn't really talk about what they were and it was stupid of him just to claim her as his, for all he knew she might just like him as a friend…with benefits. "I-I mean no one messes with my friends" he corrected himself.
"Yeah right 'friends' and me and Donatello are 'friends' too" Cat's laugh drift back into the lair. She looked calmed again, no doubt Nia had talked some sense into her…again.
"Y-you guys!" Sky buried her face in her hands mortified with the conversation.
"Enough teasing Sky guys, let's take a break and just watch a movie" Nia suggested "No Horror" she narrowed her eyes at Skyler as she opened her mouth to suggest something but quickly snapped it shut and gave a sheep smile.
"Something funny" Kayla spoke.
"And with action" Casey commented.
"We could watch Rush Hour?" April replied.
"That's a good one! I'll go grab it" Mikey sprinted to their movie collection.
"I'm out, I'm going home to take a nap" Cat stretched her arms over her head and yawned.
"You don't nap, you pass out" Nia snorted in humor.
"Same thing" Cat waved her off "I'll see you all tomorrow"
"Wait! I'll walk you home!" Donnie jogged to her side.
"Such a gentleman" Cat swooned and laced her hand in his. Donnie smiled softly at their linked hands finding the simple action heartwarming.
They took the sewer tunnels. Reaching their destination in just ten minutes.
The first time it taken them a few hours to figure out which tunnel lead to the nearest manhole that was closest to the girls home but the boys quickly figured it out and memorized the route and showed they girls the correct way.
"I don't know how you do it Donatello, I'm completely lost" Cat sighed frustrated.
"What do you mean? You have no trouble finding the lair when you come by yourself" he raised a brow at her.
"That's because I follow our link" she gestured between them "And you always walk me home" she pointed out.
"I could teach you the way" he offered.
"Good luck with that. Nia, Kayla and Sky already tried but it's just not sticking in my brain" she pouted.
He chuckled at her "I guess I'll just have to walk you home everyday then"
"Aren't I lucky" she grinned leaning up and kissed him. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her closer to him, enjoying how perfectly her body molded into his. She pulled away slowly her eyes half opened and dazed as she stared into his own.
"April is wrong" she whispered softly burying her face in the crook of his neck "We're meant to be, you feel it don't you?" she sighed in his arms.
"I do" his eyes soften as he held her tighter "Catherine, can I ask you something personal?" He said softly.
"Mmm"
"Why do you hate humans so much?"
She pulled away slightly, her eyebrows shooting up in surprise at his question.
"I don't hate them I just…don't trust them" she confessed quietly and released her hold on him "Don't get me wrong, I trust Casey" she explained.
"And April?"
"...I trust her not to hurt you guys," she stated. He stayed silent as he processed her words. She trusted April not to betray them but for anything else she didn't.
He tilted her chin up with his fingers.
"What happened to you?" The words slipped out of his mouth before he could stop himself.
She shook her head "Not just me but everyone I care about" she muttered sitting down on the concrete floor bring her knees to her chest. She thought back to all the harm they caused. Nia's parents were killed by humans, Nia was taken and hurt by them, Kayla's mother rejected her father and severed his link almost sending him to death. Skyler suffered the least from them except for the bulling at school. They all received that. Kayla for her different colored eyes, Nia for her scars, Sky for her stutter and her for lack of attention.
He went to sit by her pulling her to him so she sat between his legs and her back leaning against his plastron.
"Do...do you want to talk about it?" He asked carefully not wanting to upset her.
"Not really" she said bluntly "But I might as well tell you anyway since you're going to find out sooner or later" she shrugged. This conversation was bound to come up at some point in their lives.
"You don't have to you know" he muttered into her shoulder.
"Might as well get it over and done with" she sighed leaning her head back against his shoulder "I don't even know where to start" she huffed "Let's see, my mom and dad are always busy with work"
"Wait a sec, I thought Joshua was your dad?" Donnie tilted his head confused. He remember when Joshua gave them 'The Talk' he had clearly warned all of them that if they hurt any of his daughters there was going to be hell to pay.
"Joshua's not my dad" Cat giggled "He's my guardian while my parents aren't home"
"Then where are your parents?"
"They're obsessed with work" Cat glared at the ground "By the time they get home I'm already asleep and when I wake up they're already gone, the only times I see them is on my birthday, Christmas and New Years" her eyes softened "I know they care because every now and again they'll call to see how I'm doing. I just wished they didn't work so much"
Donatello frowned.
"Who took care of you while they were at work when you were younger?"
"I had a nanny, actually…I had a lot of nannies" she grumbled "My parent's aren't good judges of character. They picked whoever could start immediately and most of the time that ended up badly for me. I know they didn't do it on purpose because once I told them what happened, they would immediately fire them and hired a new one" she explained.
"End badly for you?" Donnie narrowed his eyes.
"The nannies always ended up stealing things from our home and tried to blame me that I was the one that broke it so my parent wouldn't question where it had gone...some of them were verbally abusive" she said quietly "It never went physical because they knew better than to leave evidence for my parents" she paused when she felt him shake and a low growl escaped him. She grabbed one of his clenched fist in her hands squeezing it to calm him and it seem to do the trick "The one thing I noticed about them was they were all human." she stated "My recent nanny at the time slipped up on their act when they went to pick me up after school, Joshua happened to see it and stopped it before it got too out of hand"
"I said stop!"She tugged her arm free and glared at her care taker as she glared back.
"I don't have time for this Catherine, I have to start get ready for my date"
"That's really not my problem, I need to go the store now! I've been asking you for weeks and you keep telling me we will go tomorrow! My science project is due tomorrow I can't put this off any longer! So you either take me or I go by myself! I'm sure my parent would love to hear about this!" she snapped back.
"Listen you little brat, my date is suppose to be arriving at the house in less than two hours, we will go afterwards"
"You're not suppose to have people over, my parent made that clear to you Christina" Cat narrowed her eyes at her.
"You're parents won't be home and he'll be long gone before they arrive" she smirked.
Cat shook her head and began to walk away "Do what you want I'm going to the store I need to buy poster board"
"I said we're going home!" Christina yanked her by the back of her backpack.
"Let go of me Christina!" Cat yelled twisting to get out of her hold before finally removing her backpack.
"Is there a problem here?" Christina whipped around to the deep voice.
"Nothing wrong sir, she just doesn't want to go home is all and rather stay with her friends, but I keep telling her that her parents want her home now" she put a sweet face on and Cat blanched.
"Elder she's lying! Stop playing innocent!" Cat snarled watching as Christina flinched but kept her smile.
"Come along Catherine, let's go visit your parents" Joshua sighed placing a hand onto of her head. He had seen everything and knew the woman was lying on top of that he knew Catherine because her parents. They were business partners with him and the times he met the 8-year-old girl he got the feeling that she was too blunt to lie.
"W-wait a second! Who do you think you are? You can't just expect me to let some total stranger to take her!"
"I'm her Uncle" he lied smoothly shutting her up immediately. Catherine grinned and stuck her tongue out at her nanny watching in satisfaction as she turned red from either embarrassment or anger, she pretty it was the latter.
"Joshua is you're uncle then?"
"No he just said that to get her off my back, but I guess he's sort of an uncle now, just not by blood, you know what I mean?"
"Yeah" he nodded. Master Splinter wasn't their father by blood but by bonds they had built of the years.
"That's how I met Kayla and Skyler, he took over being my nanny and when he couldn't watch us, Skyler's grandmother would" she shrugged.
"I'm sorry you had to go through that"
She shook her head and twisted in his hold to straddle him and smiled "Don't worry about it, it all worked out in the end, I'm pretty sure I made some lifetime friends and…I met you" her lips hovered inches above his own. His hand tangled itself in her soft locks, closing the distance between them in a gentle kiss. She melted into the kiss, wrapping her arms around his neck. Her eyes snapped open in surprise when she felt his tongue shyly lick her bottom lip in silent permission. He was never the one to make the first move. She smiled and granted him the request taking pleasure as he began to chur lowly. His hands traveled down and gripped her waist tightly.
"Catharine!" He pulled away from their kiss gasping when she rolled her hips against his.
"Hmm?" She hummed innocently all while placing small kisses, nips and licks along his neck and collar bone. He knew better. He could practically feel her grinning against his skin.
"P-please don't do that" he strained to say.
"Do what? This?" Her hips repeated the action, much more slower this time "You don't like it? I thought it feels good for guys when girls did this?" Heat immediately pool down to his groin and he groaned, because yes, it did feel good. He growled and gripped her hips thrusting against her.
"Oh" her eyes fluttered closed at the sensation "It's not nice to tease Donatello" she giggled leaning in for another kiss.
"Tease? You're the one that's teasing" he grumbled at her. Her eyes twinkled mischievously at him. Oh, he should not have said that.
"So you want more?" She smirked making him blush.
"I-I d-didn't mean—" his eyes widen when her hand grabbed his and placed it on her cloth breast. He swallowed hard.
"All you had to do was ask" she whispered against his lips. She bit her lip to keep from laughing when he made no move.
His eyes narrowed at her. She was having too much fun with this. He'll show her. He took back his hand and gripped her thighs. Using his legs and the sewer wall to pushed himself up, bringing her with him. She yelled in surprise wrapping her legs tightly around his hips so she didn't fall. He spun around quickly and pinned her to the wall.
"Donatello!" She breathed out shocked.
"All I have to do is ask? Then may I?" It was her turn to flush but she found herself giving him a nod. He churred and buried his face in the crook of her neck he bit down on her soft flesh. His hand moving underneath her shirt making its way towards one of her breast and gave her soft squeeze.
"Oh" her breath hitched. He let go instantly.
"Sorry did I hurt you?"
"No…it felt good" she admitted. His eyes dilated at her claim and he smothered her in a heated kiss. He growled and thrusted his hips into hers and making her moan. He liked that sound. He liked it a lot. He churred loudly. And she smelled so good.
"Catherine" he groaned.
"You were right Leo, Donnie really needs our help" Raph's sarcastic voice came through the tunnel. Catherine and Donatello quickly separated from themselves blushing red at being caught red handed.
"Don! You said we wouldn't get caught!" Cat tried to play innocent.
"W-what!" he sputtered at her false claim.
"Nice try Cat but we know you're the one behind all this" Kayla shook her head and grabbed her by the ear pulling her along and out the manhole.
"Ow ow sorry! Please don't tell Joshua!" Cat winced.
"We'll see you guys tomorrow" Nia sighed kissing Leo on his cheek "Come on Sky lets go"
"Bye Raphael" Skyler hugged him quickly and follow after her friends.
"April, Casey you guys coming? We can walk you guys home? Safer to walk in a group right" Nia offered.
"Right!" April smiled and followed them.
"Donnie you dog! Or should I say turtle?" Casey laughed as he was the last one to climb out the manhole and close it. Leaving the four brothers to walk back to their home.
"Little warning next time" Ralph crossed his arms.
"Yeah! You had us worried bro! We thought you might have got attack or something!" Mikey added.
"You guys are overreacting"
"You were gone for an hour" Leo stated.
"Oh...sorry" he said surprised "We won't meant any of this to Master Splinter, right?" Donnie said nervously. His brothers smirked at him and glanced at one another.
"Sure Donnie we won't say anything" Raph said throwing an arm over his shoulder.
"...IF..." Mikey joined in on his other side.
"You do our chores for a week" Leo grinned.
"…Great" Donnie grimaced and slouched as his brothers laughed.
