"Kay! I missed you!" Mikey shouted running to her and embracing her.
"Mikey we literally just left your guys place like two minutes ago" Kayla raised an eyebrow at him and hugged him none the less.
"Wait a second? How did you get over here before us? When you were back in the lair?" Cat asked confused.
"Who's this?" April questioned at the strange dressed girl.
"My name's Renet" she smiled and waved at them.
"Huh...looks like we came back a little before we left for patrol" Donnie stated.
"Came back? Back from where?" Nia tilted her head.
"From the past yo!" Mikey grinned.
"It's a long story, we'll explain later" Leo shook his head.
"Aw man! Why is it that we always miss good stuff!" Cat pouted
"Trust us, you didn't miss much" Donnie shook his head and laced his hand with hers bringing a smile to her face.
"Unless you think almost getting killed over and over again fun" Raph snorted and threw his arm over Skyler's shoulders pulling her close to him.
"I think I'll past" Nia leaning against Leo as he wrapped an arm around her waist.
Renet looked between the turtle warriors and the girls and her eyes widen.
"No way! This is literally the best day of my life! First I meet the turtle warriors and now their mates! Who happen to be masters! It's such an honor to meet you!" Renet exclaimed excitedly as she shook each girl's hand, surprising them.
"We're not masters" Nia shook her head.
"H-how do you k-know about masters?" Skyler agreed.
"Oh you will be in a few more years" she said matter of factly.
"And how exactly do you know that?" April questioned.
"I'm an Assistant Time Master in training"
"She's from the future" Leo explained.
"RENET!"
"Oops...I think I said too much" Renet winced as a booming voice called to her.
"Indeed child! Return now! We will discuss your punishment in private!"
"Aw man! I got to go but thanks for helping me stop Savanti Romero"
"Anytime Renet, just give us a heads up next time" Leo smiled.
"Right" she grinned waving good bye as she opened a portal and jumped threw it.
"Well that wasn't weird at all" Cat commented as they all watched the portal disappear.
"Okay, uhm, some hydroxyphenyl propionic acid, one drop of glutathione" Donnie carefully mixed the chemicals together.
"Whoa, sweet! Yoo!" Mikey burst into his lab "Where'd you get all the cool toys, Don?" he asked.
"They're not toys, Mikey. It's a trophy shelf. They're...collectibles" he explained not taking his eyes off his experiment.
"Is this the Kraang Mind Control thingy? Bzzzt! La-la-la. Bzzzt!" Mikey laughed.
"Don't mess with that! I'm trying to figure out how to reverse engineer this Brain Worm." He said hoping his younger brother got the message that he didn't want to be disturbed at the moment.
"Ooh, the Creep. Remember when he turned Raph into a plant? Ha! Good times" Mikey said recalling the memory. Donnie glared at him as Mikey continue to go through his things.
"Oh, yeah! Snakeweed's Claw. And isn't this Slash's spike? And, of course, the Ob-tur obculum uh, the dream book. Ooh! And-"
"Mikey, I'm trying to work!" Donnie said finally having enough and slamming his hands down on his desk to get his point across, startling Mikey in the process making bump into him causing the jar that held the brain worm formula to shake and spill a dropping on the back of his hand "Ow! Ow, ooh. Great, now look what you did." Donnie hissed grabbing his hand.
"Sorry, D. You okay?" Mikey eyes soften.
"I'm fine, except you ruined days of work" he narrowed his eyes at him "I'm gonna get some antiseptic. Do not touch anything!" He glared walking away and continued to rub the back of his hand.
"You can count on me, bro. Won't touch a thing!" Mikey leaned against the wheelchair and knocking the shelf "Well, except for this" he said as he caught one of Donnie 'collectables'. His eyes widen in fear as they all began to fall "Whoa! And that! Oh, snap! And that! Got it!" he caught them all and placed them on the desk to catch his breath "Good thing I have my phonographic memory." He said placing everything back "That wasn't as bad as it could have been. Nice work, Mikey. You da man." He grinned walking away.
It wasn't noticeable at first. They had just though he might have been tired or over worked. But when Donnie told them that he was working on the brain worm solution until Mikey ruined it and spilled some on him. They finally understood that something was definitely wrong with their brother and friend.
"Donnie!" Mikey yelled chasing him with April around the lair.
"He's getting worse every minute" Ralph crossed his arms watching as Donnie ran around.
"When did we get a tire swing?" Donnie laughed swinging on it while April and Mikey tried to get him off it.
"Donnie!" April chased after him as he ran toward Leo and Ralph as something new caught his interest and placed it in his mouth.
"Yeah, and the only one of us that can figure out what's wrong with Donnie is Donnie" Leo narrowed his eyes and took out a light bulb from Donnie's mouth.
"If we knew what was in that brain worm solution, maybe we could figure out how to reverse it." April leaned against the TV exhausted from chasing him around.
"Hmm. It's my fault Donnie got splashed with that brain juice. Got to make it right" Mikey muttered to himself and headed back to Donnie lab.
"What do you think, Master Splinter?" Leo asked not sure what to do anymore.
"It is possible whatever caused it, could be the solution to curing it. Perhaps meditation could help him" Master Splinter stated.
"Aah! The snow cats are stealing the power of my brain! We're doomed! I'm melting! Melting!" Donnie shouted falling to the ground dramatically.
"A lot of meditation" Splinter sighed.
"Even Mikey's a genius compared to him." Raph groaned.
"Hey guys!" Kayla said as she, Cat and Sky entered the lair.
"Where's Nia?" Leo asked immediately noticing she wasn't present.
"Uuh...she's wasn't feeling too good?" Cat said unsure. Leo shrugged it off and would find out the real reason later but right know he had to worry about his brother. If the girls weren't too worried about Nia then there was probably nothing for him worry about. Donnie quickly stood up at the new arrivals sprinting towards Cat and skidding to a stop a few feet away from her.
"Ooh pretty" Donnie said as he grabbed Catharine by her shoulders and leaned in close to her face so that they were only inches away "Can I keep you?" He whisper innocently and so child like, Catharine couldn't help but melt at his stare.
"Forever?" she whispered.
"Even better!" He grinned and hugged her.
"Donnie stop messing around we have to go!" Raph shouted.
"No! I want to stay with her" He pouted and hugged her even tighter.
"She'll be here when we get back now come on" Raph pulled Catharine away from him.
"No! Don't touch her! She mine! Mine mine mine!" He shoved Raph away and held her close to him again.
"Donnie a-are you f-feeling alright?" Skyler raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah you're acting strange…stranger then well Mikey" Kayla raised a brow.
"No he's not fine Mikey accidentally spilled some brain worm solution that he was working on. Wait. Where is Mikey?" Leo asked looking around for their orange clad brother. He went to the lab catching him as he mixed up Donnie's chemicals.
"And one pepperoni for flavor." He said adding the finally ingredient and showed his brothers and friends as they walked into the lab "Check it out, guys! Brain juice for Donnie! - Mmm, delicious!" Mikey said proudly.
"Are you crazy? You have no idea what that could do to him" Leo yelled.
"I know you guys think Donnie's the only one that knows science-y stuff, but I pay attention. Remember that freaky mutant wasp?" Mikey argued back.
"This is a whole other thing, Mikey!" Leo shook his head.
"Mmm, pizza shake" Donnie said drinking the mixture Mikey had created when no one was looking.
"No, wait!" April shout a bit too late.
"Donnie!" Leo groaned in frustration.
"Whoo-hoo!" Mikey celebrated that his brother drank his antidote. Donnie began to cough and stayed silent.
"Donnie?" Kayla asked carefully.
"Say something" Cat stepped closer to him when he continued to just stand there and stare blankly into space. He grinned at her stupidly and wrapped his arms around her churning loudly and nuzzling the top of her head.
"Mikey!" Everyone glared at him as Mikey chuckled awkwardly.
"Earthquake!" Mikey shouted as the whole lair began to shake.
"What's going on?" Ralph quickly ran up the stair tower and looked out the telescope "Guys, I think we made it worse" he stated as the city was begin to get covered in vines.
"I want to see! I want to see! Whoa! The Creep and Snakeweed have combined into Creepweed!" Mikey exclaimed.
"The C-creep is b-back?" Skyler's eyes widen in fear and she looked over to Raphael in worry. It was getting hard for her to breath until Raph steadied her.
"It's ok Sky, I'll be careful. Promise" his eyes soften. The name had probably trigger memories from their first encounter with the creep.
"This is bad. We need Donnie for something like this" Leo said unable to think of a plan.
"Unfortunately someone made him dumber than himself" Raph narrowed his eyes at Mikey.
"It's like Creepweed is making the city its own giant plant food buffet. Just like in Swamp Creatures 8: swamp-man takes Manhattan!" Mikey stated as vines creeper into their lair.
"Are we gardeners or ninjas? How are we gonna stop that thing?" Raph said taking his weapons out.
"The Party Wagon is still fully loaded. Let's do this" Leo instructed.
"We'll stay here with Donnie. Maybe I can get through to him somehow" April eyeing Donnie as he refused to let Catharine go.
Leo nodded "Good luck" he wished them as he, Raph and Mikey went to fight Creepweed.
"Sensei, do you think your healing mantra can work on Donnie?" April said hopefully.
"Highly doubtful" Splinter sighed watching as his son sitting happily on the couch with Catherine in his lap.
"Come on Donnie snap out of it" April said as she tried to use her physic abilities only to fail.
"What exactly happened?" Kayla asked April.
April shook her head "I'm not to sure but it had something to do with the brain worm mixture Donnie was trying to reverse engineer"
Cat frown "Donatello" she said quietly cupping his face in her hands and making him look at her dead in the eyes "No matter what happens I'll still love you and only you" she whispered kissing him softly.
"Catharine" he murmured. The intelligence in his eyes slowly returning along with memories of everything that had happen. He carefully removed her from his lap.
"Don?" Cat asked confused at his sudden change in behavior.
"Sorry I got to go help my brothers, we'll continue later" he smiled at her. She flushed slightly at his words but grinned back.
"Donnie! You're back to normal!" April said relieved and Donnie nodded. His eyes determined as he headed into his lab to grab supplies to help his brothers fight Creepweed.
He had quickly made a retro-mutagen based weed killer with the girls. They had followed his orders grabbing everything he needed to make it easier for him and when done he set out to fight. It had been less than 30 minutes before all of them came back to the lair unharmed with smiles on their face which meant that the plan had worked.
"Well, this should keep what's left of Creepweed secure" Donnie placed a locked box on his 'collectibles' shelf.
"It's good to have you back, Donnie" Leo smiled.
"It's good to be back. And thanks for your help, girls. The Shellraiser thing was kind of embarrassing, like Mikey-level embarrassing" Donnie blushed.
"Hey!" Mikey said as Donnie took a small jab at him.
"I can't believe Mikey actually came up with the right antidote" Raph slung an arm around Mikey.
"Maybe Mikey is just good with Kraang science, I mean, it can't just be a coincidence" Kayla defended.
"Or he really does have a photographic memory." April said.
"Even the nitrates in the pepperoni acted as the perfect reversing agent. I owe you big-time, Mikey. You know, I got to admit, sometimes I can be hard on you and act like you're not as smart as me." Donnie said.
"No worries, brah." Mikey shrugged.
"But now I finally understand how you feel all the time" Donnie smirked.
"Thanks, Donnie. Wait a sec. Donnie!" Mikey glared launching himself at Donnie as he laughed and made a run for it.
"It getting l-late, we should h-head home" Skyler sighed as she finished checking Raph for injuries.
"Told you I was fine" Raph rested his forehead against hers.
"Alright we'll see you guys tomorrow then, you coming April?" Cat asked. Though she didn't really like her she wouldn't let her walk by herself at night. Especially with all the guys enemies hiding out somewhere in the city.
"Uh...sure let me just grab my stuff" April said surprised at Cat's offer. She quickly grabbed her things and the four of them headed home.
