Fluttershy read and reread the test results. "How is that possible?" She dropped the papers and stared into nowhere. It was just too good to be true. She cautiously put her hooves over her stomach, afraid that any touch would make it go away. Twilight was asking Fluttershy something, but she didn't hear it. She curled a hoof around the ring and chain around her neck.

"How long?" she whispered.

"We are guessing that you are almost two months along."

"Guessing?" Twilight asked.

"Our machines can't see the foal, almost like it doesn't want to be seen. Since it has been two months . . ." The nurse let the statement hang. By the way the mare in front of her looked, she probably didn't need anyone else reminding her what had happened.

"I will send in the doctor and you two can talk details about your foal. Congratulations, by the way."

Fluttershy couldn't help, but smile a little. Discord wasn't gone, not completely.

Three and a half months earlier

"Oh, Fluttershy?"

The sudden voice made the yellow pegasus jump and the numerous animals she was attending scatter. "Discord, what did I say about sneaking up on me? Oh, now you have gone and scared away the animals. Oh, please come back out. It is alright. It is safe."

"Oh, pooh. Good riddance, I say."

"Discord!"

"Sorry, but do you realize what time it is?" The draconequus made a large watched appear before her eyes. Fluttershy's eyes widened.

"Oh my goodness! How did it get so late? I am so sorry, Discord. I must have gotten distracted. You see there is this new family of squirrels and-"

Discord didn't hear the rest. He was too fixated on the beautiful mare who was babbling in front of him. Her beautiful, teal eyes sparkled with concern. Her lush pink mane caught the last rays of sunshine, making it shine like a halo. The draconequus longed to take her delicate hooves, which were nervously being rubbed together, in his own and confess his love for her.

"Um, Discord?"

"Hmm..." he replied, his mind still wandering.

"Why are there rose petals falling over me?"

Discord started and quickly snapped the falling petals away, slapping himself for letting his mood express itself. It was happening more and more often lately. Raining chocolate hearts instead of chocolate milk. Cotton candy clouds shaped like hearts or a couple holding hooves. Yesterday he woke up from a dream about Fluttershy with church bells ringing above his head! Never had he been so out of control of his powers before.

Fluttershy looked at the rose petals that were still laying on the ground. They were all red or yellow with red. She wished that her feelings were so easily expressed as a simple flower. She looked up at Discord, and he looked like he wants to say something, but can't quite get it out. He was scuffing a hoof on the ground and his eyes were flinting back and forth. He was rubbing his paw and claw together much like she did when she is nervous.

She couldn't keep back the words on her tongue anymore. She took a deep breath. Oh dear. This is going to be hard.

"Discord?" The draconequus started out of his thoughts. The pegasus in front of him was blushing profusely. "There is something that I need to tell you." She rubbed her forelegs together, unsure where to start.

"Um, I want to say that I enjoy our time together immensely, and it has been some of the happiest times of my life. I love the little things that you do or bring me to make me smile. Especially the flowers, they are beautiful and unique." Most of them were odd colors or patterns, but what could you expect from the Lord of Chaos. "I don't want things to become awkward between us. That would not be good at all. I really don't want to lose you as a friend, no matter what happens between us. I . . . um, oh dear. What I am trying to say is . . . I think, well I am fairly certain that I . . ." Fluttershy blushed even more and bit her lip.

Discord couldn't believe his ancient ears. Was the pony of his dreams trying to say that she- No, she couldn't, there was no way that she could ever-

"Iloveyou!" Fluttershy said it so fast that it sounded like one word. Discord's mind was blank. There was no way that he heard what he just heard, but Fluttershy was looking up at him expectantly.

"Uh . . . umm . . . Fluttershy . . . ." Discord couldn't find any words to say.

The pony's face fell. Of course, how could she have been so stupid. She turned to walk back to the cottage. "I understand. I don't know what I was thinking. I am not very pretty, smart or powerful. How could I have ever thought that you even saw me like-"

Fluttershy's words were cut off by Discord. He had swept her up into his arms and was holding her close. Hopefully, he thought, this would tell her what I couldn't get out as words.

The yellow pegasus could hear their hearts beating together, in perfect time. She felt safe there in Discord's arms. It felt more right than anything in world.

"Fluttershy, did you mean it?" There was a vulnerable tone in his voice. So many people had told him that loving somepony was giving them the power to destroy you, but trusting them not to. The Lord of Chaos had never trusted anypony or creature with anything this close to his heart or his sanity.

Fluttershy wrapped her hooves around his neck and pulled him closer. "Would I ever lie to you?"

Discord still couldn't believe his own ears. He had to hear her say it once more, just to hear her, this beautiful, wonderful mare, say it. "Say it again, slower this time."

Fluttershy smiled and snuggled into Discord's chest. "I love you, Discord. I really do. I know that you think you are ugly, but you are not. You are hoofsome and good. I love you for who you are. Chaos and all."

Discord smiled as she kept going. He ran his claw through her pink mane, it was softer than he ever thought it was, and it smelled of grass, flowers, and slightly of animal feed. He pinched himself. Nope, not dreaming. The draconequus sighed and pulled away from her slightly. His love slowed her rambling as she looked deeper into his amber eyes. He raised his paw to cup her cheek and pulled her face closer to his.

"I love you too, Fluttershy. My beautiful, wonderful, sweet Fluttershy."

Twilight stood aghast in the throne room. The three other princesses were there, each looking very solemn.

"Is there anything else we can do? Have we tried-"

"There is nothing else to try, Twilight," Celestia cut in softly.

"What about the Elements? Surely, they can do something."

"My sister and I tried to use the Elements last time this happened," Luna said sadly. "It had no effect. It only made it stronger."

"How did you defeat it last time?" Twilight demanded.

"We didn't." Celestia admitted. "We only beat it back temporarily, holding it at the boarders, but now it has broken through, and all the signs say that it is even stronger than before."

"What if we all attack it together." Twilight couldn't just accept this resignation to defeat. "Nothing can withstand a blow like that."

"This darkness absorbs any power of Order or Harmony," Cadence admitted, crestfallen. All four Princesses, as powerful as they all were, separate or together, were powerless against this monster.

How can anything not be defeated by Order or Harmony? It isn't possible. If only we weren't . . . The idea hit Twilight like lightning.

"What if it wasn't attacked by Order and Harmony?" Twilight suggested. The elder Princesses looked confused. It hurt Twilight to put her friend in danger like this, but they had no other choice.

"What if it was attacked by Chaos?"

A/N: I have yet to come up with a name for this "darkness" (I am open to suggestions) and yes, I did specifically create it so that the princesses nor the Elements could defeat it.
