Eight months later
"How are ya feeling, Sugar Cube?" Applejack asked. "Are ya eatin' enough?"
"Yes, all the food you and Granny Smith have sent me. It was delicious, though nothing seems to taste right unless it has some form of chocolate, cheese, hot sauce, or chalk in it."
"I hear that is normal, Sugar Cube. Have ya found out what it is yet?"
"No, the doctors can't get a good look at it, but I get this feeling that it might be a girl."
Applejack placed a hoof on her friend's belly. She could feel the movement underneath. She was glad that Fluttershy was expecting. It had given her something to live for and to smile about. The past few months had been filled with construction ponies helping rebuild Discord's castle.
The Princesses had told all of Equestria about Discord's sacrifice. Most of the ponies were ashamed that they hadn't trusted him or accepted him sooner. Many of the Ponyville ponies had come to Fluttershy's cottage bring food, or gifts. Some packages arrived from all corners of Equestria, once word had gone around that Fluttershy was Discord's special somepony and was was having his foal. Foal blankets, rattles, binkies, and foal clothes in all different colors and sizes came and filled Fluttershy's little cottage. She sorted through it, keeping some things and setting aside others, to donate to orphanages that needed them.
Rainbow Dash, now a Wonderbolt and traveling a lot, had asked some of her teammates who weren't on tour to make sure that Fluttershy was taken care of, as did Applejack, Twilight, Pinkie, Rarity, and Spike. They all stopped by to bring groceries, news, in Rarity's case, foal clothes, or just friendly comfort. For every step of her pregnancy and her grieving, Fluttershy had her friends there with her.
"Well, are ya sure ya don't want to come to Sweet Apple Acres 'til the lil' one comes? I don't want ya to go into labor and not have anypony around."
"I will be fine, Applejack. Angel will get you if anything happens."
The pony sighed, there was no sense in talking with her. She was stubborn as nails. "I understand, Fluttershy."
The two mares hugged. Fluttershy gasped just as her friend reached the door.. "Applejack . . ."
"Is it-"
"It is!"
Rainbow Dash raced into the hospital so fast that she nearly took out Applejack. "Is she alright? Is the foal alright? She wasn't due for another month!"
"Yes, Fluttershy and her filly are just fine." Applejack chuckled. "The filly has Discord's patience. That little cutie has takn' more after him than Fluttershy."
"How so?"
"Looks for one, and she may also get some of his powers. Come on, Fluttershy should be awake by now."
The two mares walked down the halls until they heard Pinkie Pie's excited voice come from one of the rooms.
"Oh, she is just a cutie pie! Definitely unique. When you guys get out, I'm gonna thrown you two a HUGE-!"
"Pinkie, I don't want a party." Fluttershy interrupted. "I just want to spend time with my daughter. We are already going to have so many reporters wanting interviews or pictures, I don't need a party on top of that."
Fluttershy looked down at her newborn filly. She was beautiful. Her yellow coat was covered in multi-colored polka-dots. She had her father's claw and donkey leg. A tuft of green man fell onto her forehead. Underneath the blanket, Fluttershy knew that there were a pair of bat wings. The young mother brushed a hoof over her daughter's forehead causing the little filly to open little teal eyes, just like her mother's.
Twilight walked into the room. "I have signed all of the paperwork. You can leave when you are ready Fluttershy."
"Thank you, Twilight. Can you take us to the castle. It is better suited for defense against media-ponies."
"Sure thing, I also though about what you asked, and I did a little research. Fitina means discord. Since you did ask me to name her, I think the best name would be Fitinashy. Since she took after both of you."
Fluttershy smiled. "I think it is perfect."
Six years later
"Tina! It's time for school," Fluttershy shouted up the cottage stairs.
"Do I have to?"
"If you do not get down here, Fitinashy, I will have no choice, but to-"
"I'm coming!" the filly raced down the stairs. Fluttershy smiled as the filly tried to get her bat wings to close properly over her school jacket, and her new shoe came off of her donkey hoof. The young mother leaned down and put the shoe back on and tightened it.
"What if the other kids tease me? What if I can't control it? You know how I can't control it sometimes when I am angry, Momma."
"You're my little girl," Fluttershy brushed a lock of green hair out of her daughter's face. "I know you can. No matter what happens, I will always love you. If you want you can use that disguise you love." Little Tina's disguise hide her bat wings and other unponylike features, making her look like a smaller version of Fluttershy with green hair. The filly looked up at her mom. She really wanted to use it, but . . .
"I want ponies to love me for me, like you do," Tina smiled revealing a single fang growing in.
Fluttershy hugged her daughter. "That's my girl. Now, let's go meet your classmates."
Nine years later
"How was school, sweetie?"
"Good, Auntie Twilight's twins, Radi and Junior, played with me during recess. Some of the other kids were scared because the twins are royalty, but I showed them my bouncing bubble trick and we all played Bouncing Bubble Tag." Tina discovered how to create bubbles that foals could get inside and bounce around in. They didn't pop unless Tina wanted them too.
Fluttershy hugged her daughter. "That's my girl." Radiance and Flash Sentry Jr. were the oldest two of Twilight and Flash's now four children.
"Excuse me, miss?" Fluttershy turned to find a stallion holding out a small lunch box. "I think this might be your daughter's?"
"Yes, it is. Thank you."
"Wait, are you Fluttershy?"
The mare sighed and nodded. Another pony who was going to ask questions about Discord, and reopen old hurts.
"Wow, I had heard that you lived in Ponyville, but I never thought that I would bump into you. My name is Tamer Jack. I used to be in a circus and tamed Manicores."
"Oh, I hope that you didn't hurt the poor dears!" Fluttershy gasped.
"Oh gosh, no! I rescued their mothers from abusive tamer and helped raise them, so they think of me as a big brother."
This relieved the yellow pegasus. "Well, it was nice meeting you, Mr. Tamer Jack."
"Please, just call me Jack."
Ten years later
"Thank you for such a lovely evening." Fluttershy turned to Jack who had escorted her to the door. The past year had been nice, and she enjoyed the change. Today of all days, she needed a change.
"Your welcome, dear." Fluttershy turned away at the nickname, and was silent for a long time. Jack asked what was wrong.
"Discord used to call me dear all the time."
Jack let out a exasperated sigh. "He is gone, Fluttershy, for ten years now. If he could have come back, he would have by now. No stallion is stupid enough to leave you behind for so long." The mare looked at the ground, but Jack pulled her face back up. "I know that you loved him dearly, but dearest, I think that it is time that you let him go." Jack reached into his pocket and pulled out a necklace. "I hope that you can see this as your first step to moving on." He slipped it over her head. It was a simple gold chain with a butterfly diamond pendant. The small pendant lay near to the ring that Discord had given her.
"I know that ring has great importance to you, that is why I didn't get you one to replace it, but my question is the same as his was." Fluttershy's heart quicken with nerves as she looked up at the stallion. His eyes were sincere and filled with hope.
"Will you marry me?"
Somewhere in Saddle Arabia
A patrol scanned the horizon for any suspicious activity. Nothing, as usual.
"Look!" One of the guards pointed to the sky. A large falling star was coming their way. The patrol scattered as the large mass hit the sand. Bits of sand and new glass showered the ponies. The captain crept up to the crater, his sword at the ready. He peeked over the edge and gasped.
"Send word to Equestria!" he shouted to his comrades. As the messenger ran, the captain looked down at the twisted form of a draconequus.
Discord's got some competition! *ducks random flying object* I am going for a Love Never Dies theme here. And this IS a Fluttercord, for Celestia's sake! And Jack's name is a spin-off of Trader Joe.
