BTW: I do not own MLP: Friendship is Magic
And just in case ya'll were wondering, that is Tina and Fluttershy in the cover picture. I am currently working on a better picture, but this one will do for now.
"Why, Twilight, why?! Fluttershy had my daughter and you didn't tell me?!"
The pony in the mirror sighed. "You were still recovering, and Fluttershy didn't even know that you had been found. We couldn't just have you show up and scare the living daylights out of both of them."
"Oh really? Or were you just biding your time until she married that Jack, and I had no chance of getting her back?" Discord meant for the gibe to hurt, and by the look on Twilight's face it did.
"Fluttershy has talked to all of us about Jack. Yes, they are dating. Yes, he has asked her to marry him, but-"
"'But'? There was no 'but' in how they acted around each other. She wasn't telling him to go away. She didn't even move away from his touch, for chaos sake!"
Little Starshine ran in. Twilight picked up her daughter and continued. "He has been good to her, Discord, and you cut me off. Are you done?"
"After ten years, I should have expected Fluttershy to move on, but now that I am here, and apparently no time has passed for me, I can't help, but feel an obligation to her heart. I hurts beyond words to see her with someone else, and I don't like this Tamer Jack guy." Discord took a deep breath. "Now I am done."
"Good. As I was saying, he did asked her to married him, but she slammed the door in his face instead of giving him a straight answer. Yes, he is important to Fluttershy, but her eyes don't light up the same as they did around you. Fluttershy isn't a mare to just up and move on. She won't just settle for any stallion, she wants you, even if she has lost sight of it right now. No amount of time has changed that. Give her time, show her that you haven't changed. Use that rose petal trick that she loved so much. Remind her that what you two had was special. She won't just turn her back on you because you disappeared for ten years."
"You sure?" Discord didn't dare hope. He had lost his parents, his kind, and he was close to losing the love of his life. If he lost Fluttershy completely, he wasn't sure what he would do, but he was pretty certain that it would not be good for anypony.
Twilight smiled gently at the vulnerability in his stare and nervous posture. "As sure as I know that Celestia is going to raise the sun, and Luna the moon and stars."
Discord contented himself with watching Fluttershy and Tina from afar. He watched Tina play with the other colts and fillies at her school. He got to see her use some of her power in order to make some game more interesting. He enjoyed watching her bounce around with her friends in bubbles playing some sort of tag game. Not once, in the entire time that he watched her, did she get teased for being different. She was accepted. When, a quarrel broke out among some other foals, Tina was the one to resolve it and make sure everypony was friends again. Discord felt a deep pride for his daughter. Even with her chaotic nature, she was a good filly, and didn't get into a lot of trouble. Just like her mother.
"Ya know you can go say hi, right?" Discord jumped at the mare's voice behind him. He looked down at her from the tree limb he was hanging onto.
"You really should wear a cowbell. You are too good at sneaking around."
Applejack looked down at her neck, no cowbell (a first) and laughed. "Yeah, well with a newborn in the house, I had to learn to sneak around."
"Oh really," Discord poofed to the ground and looked up at the mare, like a young filly waiting for some bit of juicy gossip. "Who's the lucky stallion?"
"What makes ya say that it's mine? I do have two other siblings, and they are both old enough to have their own families. She is my niece, Big Mac's and Cheerilee's daughter, Cheery Bloom." Discord was a little disappointed, but he was happy for the Apple family. Applejack set a hoof on his shoulder. "As I was sayin', you can just go up and talk tah her."
"Have you seen me?" Discord gestured to himself. "I am not exactly like everypony else."
"I helped raise her and I know that she doesn't care what anypony looks like. She wants to be friends with everypony. She would even want to be friends with the one creature who looks even stranger than her, and you are going to have to talk to her sooner or later."
"I am not sure if I should yet. Has Fluttershy told her yet?"
Applejack scuffed a hoof. "No."
Discord looked disappointed. "She has known for nearly a week. Why hasn't she told her yet?"
"Telling a nine year old filly that her daddy has come back from the grave is not an easy thing to do. Especially when there is another-" Applejack stopped, biting her tongue.
"Another what, Applejack? Another stallion that has become like a father to her? I am very well aware of that fact! And for a fact, I am so aware of it that I haven't turned the stallion into a feather duster yet!" With that he stormed off.
Applejack sighed. "That went well."
Discord waited behind a tree for Fluttershy and Tina to show up for their customary picnic. This time, he was determined to make his presence known. He couldn't stand in the background anymore. He wanted to be with his love again, and nothing was going to stop him from trying.
Fluttershy landed at the picnic spot and started setting up, humming a song. Discord was so engrossed in watching Fluttershy's graceful movements, that he didn't realize that Tina was no where to be seen. Suddenly, a small flying creature blindsided him, knocking him onto the ground.
"Alright, buster! Who are you? Why are you spying on me and Momma?"
Discord teleported out from underneath Tina and back into the tree. "Because I didn't want to ruin your lovely picnic. You two looked so happy."
"You still haven't answered my first question."
"Tina, who are you-" Fluttershy gasped when she saw Discord in the tree. The old spark that once had their full attention flared to life when their eyes met.
"Discord," Fluttershy whispered. Her eyes sparkled with relief, happiness, and joy. Any doubts that Discord had about her feelings toward Jack faded away.
Discord zapped out of the tree and stood in front of the pegasus. For long moments, the two just stared at each other. When Discord reached out to touch her cheek, Fluttershy slugged his across the jaw and sent him sprawling. The draconequus rubbed his jaw and looked up at the fuming pegasus.
"WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN FOR THE LAST TEN YEARS?!"
Ya'll have to admit that Fluttershy would be a little mad at him . . . And Cheery Bloom is a name I made up for Big Mac and Cheerilee's daughter, there might be more of her in later chapters.
