Birthday parties around my house actually happen like this, minus the cake fight. Enjoy!

" . . . Happy Birthday, dear Tina! Happy Birthday to you!"

"Shockwave! Get away from the cake!"

Tina smiled at everpony around her. She pushed away Shockwave's face before he could blow out the candles and quickly blew out all the candles, wishing very hard. Just as she was about to straighten, a paw behind her head forced her face into the cake.

"DISCORD!" Everyony yelled.

"I couldn't resist, I can fix the cake."

"You better, buster," Pinkie Pie growled. "I worked hard on that cake and no pony messes up my cake with a face-."

Just then a huge glob of cake hit Pinkie square in the face. A pink tongue licked off the multicolored frosting and sprinkles, and glared at the grinning birthday filly.

"It is to be war? So be it! Cheese, get The Cannon!"

Tables instantly became barricades and party hats military helmets. Pinkie was about to climb onto the fifty foot cannon, when Cheese stopped her.

"Allow me, my dear."

"Why? I have always been The Cannonball."

"Not when you are six months pregnant. Go get the Cupcake Bazooka and leave The Cannon to me."

Pinkie snorted. She bounded to the Party Sack and pulled out a huge pink and purple polka-dot bazooka. She aimed it at the opposite side.

"Prepare to meet your match!"

The Cannon and Bazooka went off at the same time, plastering the opposing forces with cupcakes and streamers.

Behind the cupcake plastered table, everypony who wasn't a Pie was making plans.

"Fluttershy, Rainbow, and I are gonna surrender," Applejack said. Spike helped her to her hooves. "Ya'll have fun."

Fluttershy pulled out a white napkin and waved it. "Pregnant ponies and a pacifist coming through," Rainbow Dash yelled.

"Oh, Applejack!" Pinkie exclaimed popping up. "I have your shower planned. Make sure that you aren't doing anything tomorrow! Rainbow Dash, I have those sugar cookie almond cupcakes waiting for you in the other room. I know you have been craving them with another foal on the way."

"Awesome!"

The three mares exited and the war commenced.

Before Pinkie could fire off the Bazooka again, something soft poked her shoulder. She turned around and got a face full of chocolate milk.

"Good shot, Tina!" Pinkie heard Discord say. The party pony wiped her eyes, and gasped. Fluffy cotton candy animals were floating all around her.

"Yummy!" She jumped up to bite the closest one and was rewarded with chocolate milk. "Ooooo! Fun!"

Pinkie forgot about the cupcake war, hopping happily after the floating pink animals. Tina and the Dash boys poked their heads above the table.

BOOM!

Discord and Spike tried not to laugh at the frosting and sprinkles that now covered the colts' and filly's faces.

"Mmm, mmeh mmum munm nuemun num muenum!"

"Sorry, Pinkie I didn't catch that," Cheese said rolling his eyes.

"Sorry. I said, Cheese, these cotton candy animals are delicious! Baby Pie, really likes them." Pinkie appeared over the enemies table. "Can you make more of those?"

The door opened. Rarity, Fancypants, Twilight and Flash came in with the young prince and princesses behind them.

"Sorry we're late," Fancypants said. "Did we miss any-"

The newcomers saw the mess along with the frosting and cupcake covered ponies.

Pinkie hopped over to her friends, chocolate milk dripping from her smile. "You came just in time. We were about to start round two."

Four and a half rounds (Pinkie had to call quits for a bathroom break and the round never started back up again) and the clean up later, Tina snuck up to the roof to get some air. She leaned back against the tiling and stared up at the sky, enjoying the quiet and calm. She could only take so much party time.

She had sent invites to ponies that mattered to her, including Jack, who left for a tour three months ago and hadn't written yet. Yes, she understood what had happened that day, but she didn't want him to drop off the map completely. Jack was still important to her, if not just as important as Discord.

"Discord, why are we out here? Tina is going to open her presents soon." Tina's mother's voice snapped her out of her thoughts.

"I know, dear, but there is something I want to talk to you about."

Tina crept to the edge of the roof and peeked over to see her parents in the garden. They sat on a bench facing away from the cottage. Discord held Fluttershy's hooves in his paw and claw, and they were staring deep into each others eyes.

"It has been six wonderful months since that . . . choosing fiasco. I have loved every minute of falling in love with you all over again. I have treasured being Tina's father. Yet there is something that we are missing. Something that I believe is important."

Tina crept a little closer, her heart hoping that this was what she thought it was.

"Eleven years ago, I asked you something. I made a big show of it, and almost everypony was there, but I want this time to just be between us. No pony else."

Discord let go of Fluttershy's hooves and lifted her necklace up and over her head. He got off the bench and knelt down on one knee. The draconequus held the ring out the pegasus.

"You are a strong and beautiful mare, Fluttershy. I am sorry that I left you all those years ago to raise our filly on your own. Tina should have a father who is there everyday. With your consent, I want to be Tina's father and the husband of your heart. You are my light in darkness and chaos. You are my one and only love. You have become my life."

Tina's heart was going lightspeed now. She pinched herself repeatedly to convince herself that she wasn't dreaming.

"Fluttershy, will you marry me?"

Fluttershy pressed her hooves to her lips, then wiped away her happy tears and placed her hooves on either side of Discord's face.

"Never knew I could feel like this,
Like I've never seen the sky before.
Want to vanish inside your kiss.
Every day I love you more and more"

Fluttershy took Discord's paw and placed it on her chest.

"Listen to my heart, can you hear it sing?

Seasons may change, winter to spring

Discord smiled, and replaced the ring around Fluttershy's neck. Together they sang.

"Suddenly the world seems such a perfect place
Suddenly it moves with such a perfect grace
Suddenly my life doesn't seem such a waste
It all revolves around you.

Discord embraced Fluttershy and twirled them around in a circle. They lifted off the ground and circled the garden. Rose petals started falling around them, coating the ground beneath them, while some exploded into fireworks.

"And there's no mountain too high, no river too wide.
Sing out this song and I'll be there by your side.
Storm clouds may gather and stars may collide,
But I love you, I love you,
Until the end of time.

"Come what may, come what may
I will love you until my dying day."

Discord's and Fluttershy's lips met as the last note died down. Tina smiled and leaned back onto the roof. Nothing could have made this day any better.

She was getting her birthday wish.

A/N: I have been told I have a thing for romantic duets. I have absolutely no idea what anypony is talking about, and here is the proposal I have been dying to write. I about cried it was so romantic.
