A/N: Sorry for updating so late. And sorry that the chapter is short. And really sorry if the chapter sucks. But after all this time, I've lost touch. So go easy on me.
Sadie's POV
"He's a WHAT?" Carter positioned himself in front of me. I rolled my eyes.
"A Greek demigod. Honestly, brother dear. That's not the craziest thing you've heard all your life. Remember the way Thoth spoke about Hermes? The Greeks exist."
"Their existence is not what surprises me. What does, however, amaze me is how out of all the guys on the planet you had to end up with A GREEK DEMIGOD."
"A little louder please. I'm not quite if Ms. Allen heard you."
Carter sighed. "This isn't a joke Sadie"
"I'm not laughing." I crossed my arms.
Carter took a deep breath. Like that would calm him down. "Sadie," He started with as much patience as he could muster "I can't have you risking yourself here for some obsession with a pretty boy. And an impulsive, destructive pretty boy at that."
"First of all, I'm not obsessed with him. I love him. And secondly, I thought you liked Percy. Now he's impulsive?"
"Look, I understand what the guy has been through. But him, with you...I mean..."
"So you can sympathise with him but can't trust him. Is that how it is?" I raised an eyebrow.
Carter gave me a cold look. "Yes. That's exactly how it is."
"Carter, you're just so...UGH." The last part came out louder than I would've wanted it to.
"Sadie, there's a reason we –"
" There's a reason we don't mix with the Greeks. I got that." I glared at Carter. "And besides, you hardly knew Zia when you pursued her. And that turned out just fine. I actually know Percy. I understand him, Carter. "
"Do you? You just found out he's a demigod . Who knows what else he's hiding?" I rolled my eyes at this.
" Yeah...we haven't exactly been very honest with our identities either."
" You know, you are just as impulsive and destructive and stupid. You make a perfect couple." With that, he stormed off. Yeah, real mature.
All I did after that was sulk in my cabin. In the evening, I got out to calm myself so that I don't kill my brother. I found Percy standing near the railing, again. Now that I knew his ' family history' it made sense why this was his favourite spot. I went over and stood next to him, gazing at the waves.
Percy looked at me. "Did I do something?"
"Huh?" I blinked.
"I mean...your expression..are you OK?"
I realised I was still wearing the 'I will tear you to shreds' face. I tried for a smile. " I'm fine."
"You're sure?" Percy raised an eyebrow. " For a second there you looked like you were gonna throw me into the ocean."
"Like that would do any harm." What the hell did I just say? " I mean, no. No, I wasn't. It's just, brothers can be so...so...difficult." Trust me, 'difficult' was not my first choice. But I didn't want Percy to dump me this early in a relationship. So I decided to keep the cussing to a minimum.
"What happened ?" Percy asked.
"I told him. Needless to say he wasn't happy about it. He was kinda being a jerk too." I huffed.
Percy chuckled. " My dad, the sea god warned me about how things won't be 'easy' , and Carter being unhappy worries you?"
"Hey, don't underestimate Carter. If he gets mad, he'll come after you with his khopesh. Don't get fooled by his geeky look."
"What's that?" Percy had that cute curious expression.
"A kind of sword." I said. Let's not mention the fact that it's bent just yet.
"Sadie, have you never seen me use a sword?" Percy laughed.
"Yeah, I have. But you've never seen Carter." I said.
Percy had this cocky expression, which was rare for him. " So you don't think I can take him?"
" I don't know, I mean I've seen Carter actually fight. Not just in class, as a demonstration, but actually fight for his life. But I've never seen that with you. So I can't tell."
"You know, when I first got Riptide-"
"What's that?" It was my turn to sound confused.
Percy looked around. When he was sure that no one was watching us, he took out something from his pocket. Was that a...pen?
"So, you...what? Write on your attackers?"
Percy rolled his eyes playfully. After looking around one last time, he uncapped his sword. I watched in amazement as it grew into a three foot long, bronze sword. "Wow." Was all I could say.
Percy quickly put the cap back on and it shrunk back into a pen. Hmm. Handy. " That's your Sword? It's amazing."
Percy gave it to me. "Throw it. As far as you can." I stared at him.
"Well,go on." He said.
" Percy, why-" I started.
"C'mon Sadie just do it." Poor guy. And to think he was sane just a few minutes ago.
I threw it and flinched as I heard the faint sound of splashing water. Percy just stood there, smiling.
"Are...you gonna fetch it or..."I asked, confused. Percy burst into laughter.
"What?" I questioned. Okay, maybe fetch wasn't the right word to use.
After a minute or so, Percy put his hand in his pocket and pulled out...the same pen. "Now that's a magic trick." I said.
Percy twirled the pen in his hand. " Its enchanted to always return to my pockets no matter what." He smiled proudly, then frowned slightly. " Although, it can be a problem if you don't have pockets." Then he smiled again. "Still, it's one of my most priced possessions."
" It must be, if you felt the need to name it." I said.
"I didn't name it. It's a long history. But as I was saying, when I first held Riptide, held it without any practice, I took out my pre-algebra teacher. And you don't think I can take Carter's kapish ?"
"You did what? I mean, I know you hate Math, but..." I didn't even bother to correct him on the kapish thing.
Percy face-palmed. " That came out wrong. She was a monster disguised as a teacher. So Chiron threw Riptide toward me-"
"Who?"
Percy sighed. "I guess I should start from the very beginning."
I inched closer and made the face of a kindergarten kid. " I'd like that."
" That is, if you tell me all about your adventures."
"Mostly misadventures. But ok." I said, as I leaned onto the railing.
"Well, we have that in common." He chuckled. "So anyways, it all started when I was twelve, during a school trip to a museum..."
