Well damn…what has it been? Three years? To be honest I tried to stay true to Bethyl, but after my Bethyl dreams were destroyed by the show I just didn't have it in me anymore. In all honesty I don't even watch the show anymore. It's just so damn painful to watch something that I used to love so much be demolished by the writers. I moved onto other ships, but recently I started to reread some Bethyl fics and I've fallen in love again. Therefore, I give you this chapter. It's kind of short, but I'm gonna ease back into this whole writing thing. It's been quite a while and I don't know if anyone even cares or if this is even any good, but here you go. Let me know what you think.

As always I own nothing and all mistakes are my own.

Warm…..as she slowly started to wake up she felt a sense of peace and warmth. Upon opening her eyes she glanced over to see Daryl's face next to hers. Sleeping on his side and looking more peaceful than ever in his sleep. He had an arm draped carefully over her and the rest of his body was right up against hers. She just laid there and smiled at him knowing that he would more than likely sense she was up and wake himself. And just as she thought that his eyes opened and the corners of his lips curved into a small smile.

"Mornin'" he said sleepily.

"Morning sunshine. Sleep well?" Beth said in a cheerful voice. Well as cheerful as one could be after being shot.

"Should be me askin' you that," he said with a smile.

"I've been better, but the company helps", she said with a smile. "But this girl needs to get to a bathroom, but I have no clue how I'm gonna do that."

"I can help ya over," Daryl said, but then quickly added, "Unless you want me to go an get Dria…..I mean Alex?"

"No need to bother her yet," Beth said. "Help me up," she said reaching towards him.

He walked over and gently helped her off the bed. They slowly made their way over to the bathroom. Once she was finished she hollered at him and they slowly made their way back to the bed where he set her down slowly and made sure she was comfortable. He took a few hesitant steps back and they both remained in an awkward silence.

"So a lot happened yesterday," Beth slowly started to say. She knew that there was a lot that needed to be talked about, but she wasn't sure how much Alex ….or Dria…...had already told Daryl.

"Think you already know 'bout the girls", he said with a sad smile on his face. "You said it yourself yesterday, they do look just like me. Was like looking in a mirror when I looked into their eyes."

"I don't know, nor do I necessarily need the whole story of what in the world happened that separated you from them, but look at it this way. You have a second chance to be a part of a family you never thought you were going to see again. Sure things have changed, but family is family."

"We haven't really talked 'bout much besides the fact that they're mine and what the hell happened to separate us." Daryl started to say. " I think we're gonna tell the girls that I'm their dad today."

"They'll be so impressed." Beth said with a smile.

"I've heard. Seems like someone been tellin' tales about me," he said with a slight gleam in his eyes.

Beth smiled and a slight blush covered her cheeks, "You're just too great to not tell stories about. You don't know just how great you really are Daryl."

"Nuthin' special 'bout me. Just an old man…" Daryl said shrugging off her comment but smiling on the inside.

"You are special. Especially to me," Beth said confidently. "And those girls are going to be absolutely thrilled to finally meet their daddy. Now if you could go upstairs and get me something to drink I would be forever grateful dear hunter."

"Yeah I can do that. Dria…..I mean Alex will probably want to check on that," he said motioning to her midsection.

"Don't keep me waiting too long," Beth said smiling up at him.

"Never." He said looking at her with an air of certainty. "Now that I've found you I'm never letting you go." A blush started to grow over Daryl's face as he quickly looked away and headed towards the stairs. He missed how Beth's smiled grew with his last statement.

As Daryl walked up the stairs he thought about what Dria had said the night before. What Beth had said this morning. Yeah he probably did have some feelings for the girl. What those feelings were though he wasn't for sure. He also had to deal with the fact that there were two little girls who would maybe be calling him daddy soon. He wondered if they called this Adam person dad. Then there was Dria. He didn't even know how to process that. Obviously she had moved on, but it didn't bother him. She did what she had to do to survive and this Adam guy was there for her. There for the twins. The only thing Daryl was upset about was that it wasn't him there protecting his family. The person to blame for that was already long gone, but if what Dria said was true he was having a hard time wrapping his head around just how much of an asshole his brother had been. Daryl had always defended him against the rest of the group. He was kin. He was blood. But if Merle was still alive today he didn't think blood would be enough to ever forgive what he did. As he got closer to the kitchen he heard voices. He reached the doorway and stopped. The scene before him seemed so domestic. Like the world didn't go to hell overnight. Dria was standing at the sink. A man whom he assumed was Adam sat at the head of the table. The two girls were sitting on each side of him throwing questions out left and right.

"When can we go see Beth?"

"Is Beth going to be alright?"

"Can Beth tell us a story?"

"Did the bad man hurt Beth?"

"Can I have applesauce for breakfast?"

"Can I have eggs?"

Dria turned towards the girls, "Soon, Yes, Maybe later, Yes, Yes, and Yes". As she answered the questions she noticed Daryl standing in the doorway. "Good Morning Daryl. How's Beth doing this morning?"

"Seems to be doing okay. She's wantin' somethin' to drink. Figured you'd wanna take a look at her." He said as he rocked back and forth.

"Who's that Mom?" Lexie asked as her sister stared at the stranger.

Dria looked over at Daryl and asked a silent question. He shrugged his shoulders indifferently, but was very nervous about the girls' reaction.

Dria looked over at Adam as he gave her a supportive smile and nod. Dria then looked over at the girls'. "That girls' is your Daddy."

A/N: So how did I do? Like I said, very short. Sorry for the cliffhanger. I'll try not to wait another three years to update
