Luin took a few steps ahead of the speechless elven lord, sniffed the air and said. "Lets go we cannot linger now. Estel is somewhere out there in hands of those men!" And she looked to the forests of Trollshaws, let out an angry roar and took off after the scent trail left by the group of men.
Soon after the mighty roar, howling of a wolf in the distance answered.
"What was that mellon nin?" Elladan asked as his steed twitched its ears nervously.
Friends in the forest. The wolves that live and hunt nearby. I was asking if someone seen our group. The great cat said and looked at the elves behind her.
"What did they said mellon nin?" Legolas asked.
"Did they have seen those men?" The raven haired elven lord asked.
Aye. But you will not like the way they took. The bluish snow leopard grimly said. All elves looked to her sky blue eyes and she turned her head to the forest again. The Giants valley. Come. We cannot linger. Luin growled and took off.
The group got to the entrance of the Giants valley. It looked peaceful, but you never knew when the giants ventured out from The Stonemere, in the eastern part of the valley, or the trolls, which lived in the south-west in Taur Ornolf. And there also were the giant Rock-worms that were distant relatives to the drakes. Those creatures were great lizards with thick green-grey hide, almost strong as the rocks that laid scattered around, covered in ugly green tufts on its' spine mimicking the grass. They had long and sharp claws, large mouth with sharp teeth in it that also breath fire. Another weapon it had was its' strong, long and flexible tail that was used as a whip. The only weak place was its' pink and soft underbelly, but it was really hard to get to it.
"We must be careful now and move quietly, not to disturb the giants." Lord Elrond said and urged Ilmen forward.
"Aye." Everyone nodded and moved after the ancient elf.
Luin ran on the right side of the raven haired elven lord joined by Legolas one stride behind her. On the other side was Elladan and one stride behind him was Elrohir. They were followed by the balrog-slayer and lord Erestor.
Everyone in the group felt the tremors of the ground when they passed The Stonemere just mere few hundred meters away. Legolas felt amazed that not just Luin was not letting out her low growls, but even the horses' hooves did not make any sounds. They were almost at the other side of the valley when suddenly, when they were crossing a small lake before mountain pass Daergil in Eregion, three Rock-worms came from behind the rocks and crossed their path.
The great worms immediately started hissing and lashing their tails at the group.
Luin jumped before the lord of Imladris, her fur standing, baring her white sharp fangs and claws at the creatures, hissing and growling at them trying to scare them away. She thought that her roar might help scaring them off, but she did not want to alert the giants of their presence. It was not working and the worms were getting closer. The Mirkwood princeling saw that his friend was having trouble and took out his bow and notched an arrow in followed by lord Erestor and Elladan.
"We do not have time for this!" Exclaimed Elrohir and pulled out his sword.
But they will not get us through. The great feline hissed and stood sideways making herself even bigger and was swishing her bushy tail.
"Ready yourselves." Ordered the ancient elven lord.
Glorfindel and lord Elrond dismounted their mighty steeds, pushed them to the other horses and unsheathed their own swords and stood on each side of the great snow leopard.
The golden haired prince draw his bow, aimed and released his arrow. It flew over the great feline and the two elves. His aim was true and it would strike the creatures' heart, but it bounced of the creature rock-like armor on its' side. The creature growled, moved forward and slashed its' tail.
Luin did not wait for an order and lunged at the creatures' tail. Get out of my way! She growled at the worm as she grabbed the tail.
Lord Elrond took the second creature and Glorfindel ran to the third one. No one wanted to go between two wild battling beasts. Legolas was aiming his shots at the worm that his feline companion was dragging by the tail. He tried to hit the eyes or something soft, but to avoid his feline friend. Erestor was aiming at the one that the balrog-slayer was pushing to the back. And Elladan hit the eye of the creature his father was fighting.
Elrohir jumped of his steed and joined his father in front of the archers.
The bows sang their deadly songs alongside the elven blades against the hissing and growling sounds of the Rock-worms.
Lord Elrond, Elladan and Elrohir managed to chase away their half blind worm and Glorfindel and Erestor crippled their one, but it did not want to give up so the three joined the golden haired elven lord and continued the deadly elven dance.
The great bluish feline and the young prince, after the feline released the tail she tried to go after the head of the creature, but it did not let her close. If she got too close to the head she had been hit by the tail. Legolas managed to find some soft spots between the rocklike armor and jumped of his steed to help the feline because he was running out of arrows. When his feet touched the ground Nightmare ran off, but to the wrong direction. The black horse ran right to the Rock-worm and rammed the side of the worm. As it staggered she kicked it to the side dazing the worm, the young golden haired elf heard the cracking of the ribs and wondered if it will be enough.
With help of the black mare, Luin grabbed the worms' ugly green tuft on its' spine and rolled it on the side revealing the soft belly of the creature.
Do it now Legolas! Luin growled and the Mirkwood prince notched another arrow to his bow and quickly released it. The arrow struck the creatures' heart killing it instantly. The great feline released the creatures' back and looked over to the other battle and saw the killing blow of the ancient raven haired elf.
"Are you two alright?" Lord Elrond asked.
"Aye, we are." They said in unison.
"More or less it is true." Luin said and lord Elrond quickly looked at her looking her over. "Just some bruises from the tail. Worry not my lord I am not hiding anything" And the ancient elf let out a relieved sigh.
"Nightmare here managed to help us kill the beast." Legolas said and patted the black mare on her neck.
"You do not say." The balrog-slayer said and smiled at them.
"Are you injured my Lord? I was not even close to the creature. I just used my arrows." The golden haired princeling asked.
"Nay, I am not injured, penneth. But we must not linger here. We must save Estel from those men." Lord Elrond said and waved at Elladan and Erestor to bring the other steeds.
They quickly mounted while Luin sniffed the ground and the air around. I have found their trail. The great feline announced and went after it.
"Okay, let us go now." The ancient elven lord ordered and the group took off after the great feline.
The group quickly passed the rocky mountain pass Deargil to Eregion. They urged their horses to a deadly pace until they got to the crossroads of Glâd Ereg, whe one path led further thtough Eregion and then to Enedwaith. Where the group of men were supposed heading. As the elves were thinking, but now they were not sure. The other path took you to Gwingris and back to the Trollshaws.
All elves stopped their steeds and lord Elrond, his who sons and Legolas dismounted and looked for any signs that those men passed through here or not. Luin ventured further down the path to Enedwaith sniffed the air and let out another loud roar, but no one answered her question. She lowered her head and sniffed the ground.
I cannot smell anything here lord Elrond. She sadly said and returned to the group and on the other path. Are you sure they were going to Enedwaith? The great cat asked and the sniffed the other path.
"They were talking that they are going home to Enedwaith, penneth, but that must have been a lie." Lord Elrond said.
Aye it was. Luin growled with renewed anger again as she rose her head from the ground. They wanted to lose us. I am smelling their stench from this path!
"Lets go!" ordered lord Elrond and jumped on Ilmens' back and took off the second path to Gwingris with Luin hot on his heels. The other elves did the same.
Soon they passed Gwingris on the left and headed down the path to the forests of Trollshaws.
On the tree bridge Luin let out another fearsome roar, that echoed between the rocky slopes that the Bruinen river carved to the valley throughout the years in Tâl Bruinen, and got her quick answer as a group of hunting wolves managed to saw the group of men sometime before but not long.
"We are gaining on them." The great feline said out loud.
But not only wolves heard the roar of the feline. Halsey looked from the top of the second path at Tâl Bruinen near Eryn Singor. "We are going to have company men." The black haired man evilly grinned at his companions. "We need to prepare to welcome our guests with all the respects they deserve." He smirked.
"Aye!" Walcott agreed.
Garret took out the little boy from the sack.
Estel woke up during the way and was squirming to get away from the man as he was transferred to Halsey.
"Stop squirming boy!" the black haired leader yelled and hit him, drawing blood as he split the small boys' lip and the small edain stopped. "See now that is better." Halsey also took out his dagger.
The sun was slowly setting and Lord Elrond, Luin, Legolas, Elladan, Elrohir, Glorfindel and Erestor just went up the hill path near Eryn Singor and further away into the woods of Trollshaws. The ancient raven haired elven lord suddenly stopped his companions. All the tracks on this place were scattered around. And there were so many.
Luin on the other hand started sniffing around and went to checkout nearby rock formation and the bushes near them. All the elves dismounted and followed the great cats' example.
Lord Elrond unsheathed his sword and Legolas took out his bow and notched an arrow as they heard rustling of leaves near them.
"Drop your weapons or the boy dies!" They heard a hard voice as Halsey stepped out of the bushes with Estel in his arms and a dagger on the boys' throat.
Legolas immediately pointed the arrow at the mans' head and the rest of the elves joined the pair with their weapons in hands.
"I said drop your weapons!" The man angrily yelled and pressed the dagger against Estels' neck and the small boy whimpered. Then the rest of the men came from the bushes.
Luin heard the yell and lowered herself in the bushes and slowly and quietly climbed the rock.
"Okay, just do not harm my son." The ancient elf said and put away his sword. He knew he and the others would be able to take down all those men, but he could not put Estel in the harms' way. All the rest of the elves followed suit, albeit somehow reluctantly, and lowered their weapons and put them on the ground.
"Now move away from them." Halsey ordered and they stepped back. "Bronson take their weapons away and Weldon you bind them. We will take them with us." Both men nodded and did as they were told.
"Boss where is the cat?" Walcott asked and Halsey angrily looked at the golden haired princeling.
"Where is it?" The black haired man hissed at Legolas, who just angrily stared at him and remained silent, then looked around and yelled. "Come out cat or the little one dies! I know you CAN understand me! I am counting to five!"
"One!" Halsey started counting and looking around.
"Two"
"Three"
"Four!" He got near the rocks Luin climbed.
"Five!"
The man heard creaking and cracking noise above him. The black haired leader looked up and saw two great paws, with unsheathed sharp white claws, clenching the edge of the rock crumbling it a bit. Then an angry growl escaped the maw of the angry feline.
"Now, now." Halsey said pressed the dagger on Estels' neck and backed away from the rock.
Luin angrily glared harder at man.
