A/N : This chapter may be awfully short, but y'all know it's been forever since I updated. I'm hoping to fight through all this crappy writer's block! Thank you for all your comments and reviews! I'm gonna do my best, for real this time, to work through this story.
"Let's finally end this foolish battle!"
Duck grits her teeth as she readies her weapon for Rue's next attack. The villainous young woman with the curly dark hair leaps from her high place atop a building, her weapon held over her head.
There were a few outcomes for impact, Duck realized, in that moment. Either she will hit Rue, Rue will her, or both weapons would clash. However, Duck wasn't in the mood to tie today. She was ready for this to be over.
Wait a minute...I have ramen at home...! I'll do it for the ramen!
"Ramen!" Duck shouts as Rue falls, "I'm coming for youuuu!"
Rue is so surprised at what she hears the warrior yell that she falters a bit in her attack. She would have laughed at the stupidity, if she had the time and the joy in her.
It all seemed to happen in slow motion...
Words formed in Duck's head, and she didn't take the time to process it. As soon as the words formed, she switched her attack potion into a side swing.
"MORNING DANCE!"
Duck's high pitched voice came out deeper and more womanly. The random words resonated through her ears, and like casting a spell, her sword flashed with an almost blinding light.
A magical transparent wing seemed to appear around her sword as she swung it at Rue.
Rue's eyes brightened from the attack as it slashed across her body. The power from the attack consumed her entire being. Even when the sword had done it's damage, the light continued to swallow the entire city as a whole...
The beautiful, magnificent light - similar to a promising morning - spread through the entire city, flowing through every lifeless body and returning their precious hearts to beat in their chests...
Duck could no longer see in the brightness that consumed her. She felt her sword vanish and her heavy armor disappear as well. Her school uniform flowed back over her slim figure, covering her skin.
Suddenly overcome with exhaustion, Duck felt her legs give out. She fell backwards, by she never hit the ground. She was completely weightless in the warm, gentle light.
"...it's warm...making me so sleepy..."
"You've done well, Princess Tutu."
Hearing the voice of the ring on her finger, Duck grins in her sleepy state. It was the last thing she heard before she fell into a deep slumber.
"Duck...wake up, nerd! Who falls asleep on benches at this hour?!"
Mytho shakes his fluffy head at the redhead that rests on a bench in the center of the city. He was on his way back to his realm when he passed by her.
She was laying down, outstretched on top of the bench, slumbering peacefully. He had already paused to admire her beautiful face and legs before he attempted to wake her.
"Hey! Duck! You're scaring me. Why won't you wake up?" He reaches for her shoulder when he notices the shimmering ring on her finger...
"...Didn't notice that earlier.." He narrowed his eyes at her hand, thinking, "Eh? You're not getting married, are you? I feel bad for your fiancé."
"Mytho! What are you doing?!"
He turns at the sound of Fakir's voice, wide eyed. His brother was rushing up to him, gasping for air as if he had been -
"I've been looking for you all over!"
"Well, you found me..."
"Rue's about to wake up. Father's going to punish her, for sure. We need to hurry back to make sure he doesn't batter her like the enemy did!"
Mytho shook his head, "That dummy, I swear. She tends to underestimate all of her opponents. Whatever father gives her, I'm sure she deserves. She probably got too cocky in battle, anyway."
"Aside from that, she's still our sister! We should be there when she wakes up."
"Whatever, I'll be there tonight." Mytho rolls up his sleeves so he won't wrinkle them. He turns away from Fakir and bends over to lift Duck easily into his strong arms. She settles comfortably in them, mumbling about noodles in her sleep.
Mytho feels the corners of his mouth twitch.
"What do you mean, you'll be there tonight?! You're not coming, now?" Fakir is shocked.
"No, I'm taking this pain in the ass back to the girl's dorm."
"Why?!"
"There are pervs around at night, that's why. Plus, she'll catch a cold."
"Why would you care about some human girl?!"
"Calm down, Kirkir," Mytho's pretty red eyes flashed with mischief as he glanced over his shoulder at his brother, "She's just my school guide."
"RAMEN!"
The city echoes with Duck's scream as she randomly jolts awake from her sleep. Her pretty blue eyes blink open, looking up into Mytho's.
"Who the hell wakes up like that!" Mytho shouted, "Why didn't you wake up when I told you to?!"
"Why are you holding me, cotton ball?!" Duck shouts back.
"I was taking you back to the girls' dorm, nerd!"
"Wh...where am I? What time is it...?"
Mytho glanced down at what he thought was a bruise on Duck's arm and leg. He felt a sudden pang of something very rare to him - guilt. Perhaps during Rue's assignment, she was rough with some of the victims. He would have hated to see poor, innocent Duck get caught up in all this.
Wait, what? Mytho frowns in midst of his sudden thoughts. That didn't make sense.
When have I ever..
"Hey! Take me to the dorm!"
Mytho snapped out of it, "Wh-you're awake now, you can walk!"
"I'm tired, though!"
"Whatever.."
As Mytho carries the excited redhead back to the safe dorm, he glances back to see if his brother is still there. Fakir has gone, leaving a small black feather the size of an penny in his place. It was meant as a mild warning in the Raven demon language.
