81st Bite

Damon pressed himself harder between her legs. They'd already abandoned their monopoly game in favor of a new game. A new activity rotated into their usual routines. Playing pretend.

Damon wasn't hungry and when he acted like he was, Bonnie acted like she was bothered. He'd come close, smell her clean skin, and hold onto the back of her neck. Bonnie was ticklish, if he wasn't firm she'd just wriggle away. He'd nip and tongue at her skin before biting into it, suppressing a groan when he'd hear her voice hitch in her throat.

He'd leave hickeys. Dark bruises on her neck and shoulders that they'd decided to conveniently never notice. And when the heat became so unbearable, they'd pull apart wordlessly.

As promised, they haven't kissed since their first time but Damon already knew how to get around that. Bonnie said nothing about forehead kisses, kisses on her cheek or the palm of her small hand. It was his saving grace. It was just another thing they pretended never happened.

He could hear her heartbeat, a speedy rhythm he's found himself enjoying every time. It was his signal though, if Damon pushed any harder now their game falls to pieces. So he stopped.

"The game..." she breathed.

"Yeah..." although what Damon really wanted to say was screw the damn monopoly game. He was sure they weren't playing right anyway. There's no way one game could span several days.

Damon sat back on the couch, giving her some breathing room. When she sat up, he sighed at the sight. Her red face, eyes low and dark, and trembling fingers as she pulled her flannel back over her exposed bra strap and shoulders. What was he going to do about her other than continue to be thoroughly seduced by the simple motion of her hands hastily putting her clothes back together?

How long before they stopped pretending?

Then a knock at the door.

"It's him," she stood. Damon sensed a bit of fear in her. He wanted to hold her hand.

"Its showtime," he rolled his eyes. This was her idea so he had to at least restrain himself.

"Jeez—how long was that gonna go for?! I've been waiting outside for 40 freakin 3 minutes." Kai let himself in once Damon opened the door. "Bonnie, lovely as always."

Bonnie crosses her arms. "You've been watching us from the very beginning..." The idea of it made her stomach churn.

"Yes. And I'm assuming Damon would have caught on sooner of you two weren't fighting all the time. It wasn't hard."

"How about you let us know exactly what you want." Damon wanted nothing but to move past this part.

"What I want is for you two to get a room. I mean, really? There's bedrooms upstairs. Pick one, am I right?" He joked before Damon grabbed him by his neck. "Easy tiger," he choked. "I'm on your side."

"How about you answer the question?"

"Well. Bonnie of course, wasn't getting her magic on her own. There had to be something she really wanted to protect. And let me tell ya, I was worried for a bit. Damon my man, you're always on a tightrope with this one eh?" Kai laughed.

"So you wanted my magic. Why stab me then?"

"I thought it would be easier than being nice. My way had been working so far right? My guess is that you wouldn't help me willingly."

Damon looked over his shoulder to Bonnie. The vein throbbing on her forehead wasn't a good sign.

"How are you still alive after everything we did?"

Kai laughed. "There's actually a pretty funny story behind that. It's late but, welcome to 1994! My own personal hell." He winked at Damon "And no that's not a metaphor lady and gentleman."

Kai wove a told a horrifically detailed story of his past. Slaughtering his entire family, and going on a rampage so intense that he was banished to a dimension frozen in time. He's being living the same day for 2 decades now without magic to get himself out. Not even death allowed him to escape.

Not even ripper Stefan had been so bad that he was banned from the present world.

But now with his ascendant and her powers, they all had a way out. It was a win-win. Except Damon could read Bonnie's quiet expression like a book and she definitely wasn't satisfied.

The fire in the living room had gone out. It was late and Bonnie was exhausted. She stood. Damon and Kai's eyes followed her.

"I'm going to bed. We'll go over everything else tomorrow."

"Nighty night Bon!" he waved.

Bonnie stopped short when Kai spoke and decided against saying anything.

Once she was gone, Kai swallowed hard. "Damon man I have to admit... you're a lucky man."

Damon's brows kitted together. He didn't have any power to decide how Bonnie should handle all this. Whatever she wanted he'd fight to the death for. Right this minute though, he'll deal with Kai.

"Alright time for you to go." He got up and hauled Kai over to the front door.

"I mean, wow, Bonnie is hot. I haven't seen a real life woman in so long... what year is it in the present? You think girls still like Rugrats? I love that show."

"Good bye Kai."

The door slammed shut.

Damon jogged up the stairs to their bedroom. Bonnie was wide awake looking out the window at Kai walking away.

"Bennett."

Bonnie exhaled through her nose. "I don't trust him."

"I don't expect you to."

"I don't like him either."

"He leaves a bitter taste, yes."

"We can't leave if it means taking him with us."

Damon said nothing. Instead, he reminded himself that it wasn't his choice.

"If he really lashed out and killed his family..." she turned to him. "There's no telling what he'd do if he got out."

Damon took a seat and remained silent.

Bonnie huffed. "Say something."

"Kai has the ascendant. You have the magic." Damon wasn't sure if it was a part of their game to be too honest. He can't ask too many questions. Like what if a part of him liked the idea of being with her without interruption? What if they went home and he had to live with the choices they made while no one was looking?

What if they had to tell the truth?

"Your opinion still matters." She rolled her eyes. "What kind of evil are we willing to let loose into the present world?"

"Who knows? Maybe he just wants to get out and get a girlfriend. Maybe it'll be fine."

"Or maybe he finally has the chance to off the pieces of family that managed to escape." She argued, her voice rising a bit.

Damon stood over her and rubbed the sides of her arms. "He's our way out Bonnie." He kissed her forehead.

"Maybe he doesn't have to be. He needs my magic right? Let's say we take it from him and leave him behind?"

Damon smirked. "Cunning. I like that."

Bonnie held back a grin. "I'm learned a few things from a vampire I know."

"Oh yeah? What's his name?" He kissed her forehead and then her shoulder.

Breathlessly, she uttered "Salvatore."

He unbuttoned her shirt. "Say it again." His arms wrapped around her waist.

"Salvatore, Salvatore," she whined as Damon lifted her and her legs instinctively wrapped tight around him.

He took her to bed and bit her.

Am I sane? I want this story to have a plot but also want Damon and Bonnie to make out for 10 more chapters
