Earth 14 Part III
FBI Snart x Cop Lance

Coffee turned into dinner… somehow. Sara was not entirely sure how but she blamed Leonard. Of course. Dinner had not ended in disaster as it had before and conversation had veered off of the case not long after they sat down.
It seemed like everything was working out.
Dinner was nice. Sara quickly realized she liked leonard's sense of humor, his dry wit, and quite frankly he was very handsome when he smiled.
Maybe that's why it happened. Yeah, that's it. He was a pretty face and it had been so long since she could say she'd been with anyone. Either way, she was thoroughly screwed, and no that wasn't a pun.
That morning she woke warm and sated in the arms of a handsome (and very talented if she were being honest) man, who smiled at her when she rolled over to face him. A man who didn't care about morning breath as he pulled her against him and made a compelling argument for spending the morning in bed. He even made her breakfast and more importantly, coffee, before they went their separate ways into work.
Other than the fact that they were getting along a little better, there wasn't much difference in the way they treated each other in public. Of course Sara should have known better than to think her best friend and her sister wouldn't notice the change. A fact that was brought to her attention a week later.
Sara entered Verdant, the corner pub owned by Thea Queen, and located her party in a booth along the side of the pub. Felicity and Laurel were already there on either side of the table, drinks ordered and waiting for her.
"Hey, sorry I'm late." she greeted sliding into the seat next to Felicity.
"That's alright," Laurel replied. "It gave us plenty of time to talk about you."
Sara froze looking between her company. "What?" she asked confused.
"We were just trying to figure out what happened between you and Agent Cute Face last week." Felicity explained.
"I said stupid." Sara muttered under her breath. "Nothing happened." she replied. "We had dinner. Not much else to say."
"I told you." Felicity said. "They just came to a mutual understanding with each other."
"Yes, that's it." Sara added immediately regretting having said anything at all. Felicity looked at her suspicious all of a sudden.
"Well that didn't sound very convincing." she said as Laurel turned a smirk on her.
Sara sighed, dropping her head to the table. "I don't want to talk about it." her voice was muffled by the table.
"You totally slept with him didn't you?" Felicity accused and Sara popped up, shushing her and waving her hands in front of Felicity's face.
"Not so loud, Fee."
Felicity looked abashed. "Sorry."
"But you did sleep with him." Laurel added, and it was definitely not a question. Sara sighed.
"Yes, I slept with him." she relented.
The girls were silent for a moment and Sara hoped in vain that the conversation was over.
"Was it good?" Felicity suddenly asked. Sara groaned, equal parts dreading this conversation and suddenly happy she didn't have to keep it to herself anymore.
"It was...amazing." Sara replied with a sigh.
"You don't sound happy about that." Laurel replied.
Sara shrugged. "We've pretty much spent every night together during this case and at no point have we discussed what's really going on between us. Usually that wouldn't bother me, but we're more than likely going to have to work together in the future and it would be nice to know how I should act when he comes into town again."
"I know why it bothers you." Laurel smirked.
Sara rolled her eyes. "Please enlighten me, oh wise one."
"You like him. He challenges you and there's nothing you love more than to be challenged. Your perfect for each other, because you challenge him right back and it's clear, just in his interest in you, that he likes a challenge too."
"That makes no sense." Sara argued.
Laurel was unphased. "Doesn't it? Think about it, when have you ever done anything because it was easy?" she said. "Never, you always go out of your way to chose the more difficult path. Dad made it nearly impossible for you to make it this far in the department, he didn't want you to join the academy, but you proved you were too good for him to hold back. The easy route would have been medical school, like you talked about growing up, like he wanted you to." Laurel paused. "You like to be challenged, Sara. You always have."
Before Sara could reply, her cell phone went off. "I have to go." she said as she pulled it out. "Jax thinks he's found something."
"Okay, keep us in the loop."
Sara hummed, grabbing her things and walking away.
"Well that could have gone better." Felicity said when she was gone.
"At least the idea's been planted. She'll figure it out from here."

As it turned out, what Jax found changed the entire face of the case and within a day they had it wrapped up.
"You all consistently impress me." Leonard said, perched on the edge of her desk.
"Do we now?" she asked.
He hummed, looking away for a moment. "So listen," he finally continued. "I uh, I got a job offer the other day."
"What kind of job offer?" she asked, trying not to seem too eager.
"They want me to run Star City's Major Crimes Unit."
"An agent in charge?" Sara asked, sitting up a little straighter. "That's a pretty big deal, isn't it?"
"It's a very big deal. Monumental, actually. My SO recommended me for it, didn't even tell me about it." he explained. "If I take the position I'd have to move here, to Star City of course. I don't know how a Central boy like me will handle that but I'm willing to give it a try."
"Makes sense. It's a pretty nice place to live." she explained. "I like it."
Leonard smirked. "I'd need to find someplace to live and maybe someone could show me around the city, too."
Sara bit her lip, trying not to smile. "I think I know someone who can help you with that."
