"A mother's love for her child is like nothing else in the world.
It knows no law, no pity, it dares all things
and crushes down remorselessly all that stand in its path."
~Agatha Christie
Happy watched Liv, who was sitting at one of the tables talking quietly to Reed. It seemed that after Liv started to process what had happened she was able to let Reed near her; much to Happy's chagrin. He wondered if the girl knew anything about it. If she did she was a good actor; if not he couldn't fault her, but he could blame her for bringing that shit to his door step.
Liv rose and hugged Reed, who was getting ready to leave with Quinn. Happy was glad that the girl seemed to be his problem now. One less thing for him to worry about. He couldn't see what Quinn saw in her. She was meek and compliant; two things Liv certainly were not; even if on the rare occasion he found himself wishing she was more compliant. After almost losing her twice, he wouldn't change her for anything.
"Penny for your thoughts?" Liv kissed Happy's cheek, pulling him from his thoughts.
Hap stared at Liv for a moment, taking in her beauty and shook his head, "Just thinking about how lucky I am." His hand ran over the swell of Liv's abdomen.
"I can't wait until my appointment tomorrow. I am pissed you got to see the baby already." Liv half-joked as she shoved Happy lightly.
He knew that was how she was going to react. "Hey, at least I got you pictures." He smirked, then took her face into his hands. "Olivia, you don't know how relieved I was when I saw the little flicker on the screen. Our kid is a fighter just like it's mom." Happy placed his lips on Liv's. Happy was no longer anxious about showing his love for Liv like he used to be. Everyone knew they were together and then there was also the fact that his brothers knew well enough if they mentioned anything about him being pussy whipped, he would kick their asses. They didn't want to fuck with their enforcer.
Liv smiled at him, "Are you ready to take me home, killer?"
It wasn't lost on Happy that Liv had called him killer. It had been ages since he heard that come out of her beautiful lips. It made Hap feel like nothing ever happened and that his live was back or at least close to it.
"Yeah. Let's go, we have a big day tomorrow. Looks like the realtor, I hired has a few showings for us tomorrow after your doctor's appointment. So, no making plans." Happy rose and draped his arm over Liv's shoulder. For the first time since the attack, he felt as if everything was going to be alright.
Liv smiled up at Happy, there was a glint of excitement in her eyes. "We're looking at houses tomorrow too?"
Damn, he wanted to make her happy and he would do just about anything to make her feel content. "Yeah. We can't stay with Lyla forever." He smiled down at her before leading them out of Red Woody.
Liv made her way into the bedroom she was sharing with Happy and slid into bed next to him. She could feel the stress from earlier in the day slipping away as if it were just a horrible dream. God, she wished it was just a bad dream but unfortunately it was not, Wendy was never coming back, and Liv did not feel safe unless she was with Happy or the club. Olivia slipped herself into the crook of Happy's arm and put her head on his bare chest. She just wanted to be close to him.
"I love you, Hap." Liv said quietly as she listened to his heart beat slowly speed up. "Thank you for everything you've done for me lately and given up for me." Liv lifted her head, so her chin was resting on Happy's chest and looked up at him. She was met by his inviting dark brown eyes. It felt like ages since she has seen that look in his eyes, so relaxed and calm.
"For you, I'd do it all over again." Happy was serious and responded without hesitation.
Liv's heart jumped; it was then that she fully realized the depth of Happy's love for her. He wouldn't have done what he did for anyone else, only for her. The idea of that warmed her very being. Liv moved so she was straddling Happy. She looked down at the man she loved so much she thought she was going to explode. Liv ran her hands down Happy's chest and smiled when she saw goose bumps break out on his skin.
"Have you missed me, Hap?" Olivia's tone was seductive. She pulled her t-shirt over her head revealing her bare chest.
"Fuck." Happy groaned in appreciation.
Triumph was what Liv felt as she gazed down at Happy. "I'll take that as a yes." She smirked before lowering herself down to meet his lips. Happy immediately took over and his kiss was fervent and wanting. A quiet moan escaped Liv. She felt a way she hadn't felt since the day she got shot. It was a sense of normalcy and it was a much-needed feeling.
Happy flipped them over, so he was hovering above Liv. She had let out a small squeak in anticipation. Liv should have known that he would take control. She couldn't wait to feel him all over her. She squirmed under him trying to feel some friction between them. Olivia needed to feel Happy.
"Fuck, Liv. Stop moving or this is going to be over before it starts." Happy grumbled as he tried to still Olivia writhing body.
Liv stopped not wanting to prematurely end what she had started. She stared up at Happy, who was looking down at her with lust burning in his dark brown eyes. He wanted her as bad as she wanted him. "Hap, I need you."
With those four little words it was all over for Happy. He whipped down his boxers as Liv giddly pulled off her underwear. He could not wait to be between her legs, to feel himself inside of her. To have his Liv back and not the one who was just fragments of her. Happy slid between Liv's legs and teased her a bit before plunging himself inside of her. He was met by her wetness; she was always so ready for him. Just thinking about that pushed him closer to his climax.
"Happy!" Liv moaned out as he pumped in and out of her. He knew she would last long at the rate. He moved faster and harder trying to meet her in release. Happy continued as Liv dug her nails into his back aggressively, a tell tale sign she was close to her own peak.
Happy moaned loudly as Liv cried out loudly and clench around him. "Fuck!" He felt his own release and spilled himself inside of her. No need to worry about getting Liv pregnant, because he had already done that.
As they lay there together in the post-coital bliss, he looked over at Liv, who was had settled back into the crook of his arm; she was tracing his snake tattoo contently. He gave in the urge to tell her what he was thinking, "Thank you for finding your way back to me, Liv."
Liv looked up at Happy, his brown eyes taking her in. "I would have found my way back if I had to move heaven and hell, Hap." She said quietly. "I always knew you were my safe place and the one that I loved. Even when I couldn't remember." She added.
The pressure building in Liv's abdomen made her shift uncomfortably on the cold, paper wrapped table beneath her. "You'd think they would make these things more comfortable." She shifted again, the fact her bladder was about to burst, and the doctor hadn't made an appearance yet, annoyed Liv.
"Do you want me to work my magic and see if I can get shit moving?" Happy smirked.
Liv shook her head. "No, its fine Hap. We do not need my doctor's office afraid of you. We still have plenty of time for that to happen." Liv smirked, feeling slightly lighter at the thought of Happy wanting to make sure she was comfortable. "Thank you for the thought." Liv leaned into him.
Happy nodded, "Just need to make sure you and the baby are okay. You do not need any more stress."
It was as if the doctor heard what Liv and Happy were speaking about because he made his appearance, along with an ultrasound technician. "Olivia, I am so sorry you have been waiting. I am sure that you are super uncomfortable." Liv's doctor smiled sympathetically.
Happy cleared his throat in frustration and disgust that Liv had a male OB. Liv glanced over at him and rolled her eyes. Of course, he would show his annoyance, in one way or another. She wanted the same doctor for the delivery of their baby; if Hap kept acting they way he wanted to then there was no way she was going to get her new OB for her delivery doctor.
Liv frowned at Happy and then turned back to her youthful looking doctor. "It's okay Dr. Hunnam. I just really have to pee." She couldn't help but admit; she was seriously about to burst, and nobody wanted that.
He chuckled, when he smiled he had crinkles next to his blue eyes. "Well then let's get this appointment moving along then. First, how have you been feeling?" Dr. Hunnam asked, his blue eyes gazed at her. He helped Liv lay back on the table and then he examined her.
Liv looked over at Happy, who had a frown on his face. Of course, he would be frowning; she was waiting for him to jump across the table and attack her doctor. Thankfully he did not.
"I have been feeling okay. I mean I have been turned off to all meats and been not super excited about eating in general, but otherwise I have been okay. No morning sickness or anything like that, thankfully. You did get the information from the hospital and my primary OB correct?" Liv asked, she knew that her original OB had referred her to Dr. Hunnam, because he specialized in higher risk pregnancies. Since Olivia had under went trauma during her pregnancy her doctor wanted to her to be under the care of a doctor, who specialized in high risk.
He smiled at Liv. "Yes, Dr. Davidson sent all your records over to me. Now why don't we get a peak this baby of yours." Dr. Hunnam stepped aside and allowed the ultrasound technician set up her machine.
Happy moved closer to Olivia and possessively took her hand into his. "You ready to finally see our baby?" Happy whispered.
The humor in Happy's voice was not lost on Liv. "Shut your mouth." She muttered at him. Liv was not going to let him live down that he had seen the baby before or without her. Granted she was unconscious and didn't even realize that she was pregnant that time. "Can't you just pretend this is the first time you are going to see the baby?"
The technician spread cool lubricating gel all over Liv's lower abdomen. She blindly took Happy's hand into hers and squeezed it tightly; a nervous excitement spread throughout Olivia's body as she watched the screen. She needed to see the little flicker that Happy saw. She expected the baby to look just like a little blip just like the photos from her previous ultrasound.
Whish, whish, whish. Liv heard the most wonderful sound ever as the technician put the probe on her belly. Tears welled in her eyes and she looked over at Happy and smiled. Their baby was safe, and its heart was beating loudly for them. Liv could have listened to their baby's heart beat all day.
The ultrasound technician smiled over at Liv and Happy. "The baby's heart rate is about 154 beats per minute. As you can hear it's nice a strong. Now let's take a look at baby." She turned back to the screen of the machine.
Liv's heartbeat hard as the probe made its way across her abdomen. She watched the screen in awe; there was the baby, their strong and stubborn baby. It no longer looked like a blip. The baby actually looked like a baby.
"That's our baby." Olivia reluctantly turned from the screen and whispered tearfully to Happy. She was met by choked up Happy. Liv let go of his hand and reached up to wiped away a stray tear that had betrayed him.
Happy leaned down and kissed her gently. "Our baby." In that moment it was just Liv, Happy and their baby; the others in the room were forgotten.
The rest of Liv's ultrasound they both sat in silence and admired their unborn child. For Olivia, the ultrasound made her pregnancy real. She fell in love instantly and she would do anything she needed to protect her child. After her ultrasound Dr. Hunnam sat down with Liv and Happy to talk with them about the pregnancy.
"Olivia, your baby looks nice and healthy from what I can tell from the ultrasound. Baby's heart rate is right where we want it. Baby is measuring at about 11 weeks which would put you on track to have the baby in early to mid-June. As for your risk factors. I think they are reasonably low, but I would like you to keep your stress low. I know that you work as a counselor; a job that can cause great personal stress, so I am recommending that you take a leave of absence from your job until after baby is born. I would like you to see a therapist to work through your trauma and how to work through things. I have some recommendations for you, if you would like." Liv nodded, she needed to work through some stuff before the baby was born. "I also want to see you back in two weeks, if everything continues to look good, then we can push out appointments to monthly. Now do you have any questions for me?"
Liv shook her head, "I don't think so. Dr. Davidson gave me all the dos and don'ts when I went in for my first appointment, so I think I am set there. Do you have any questions Hap?" She looked over at Happy, who had been his normal silent self.
"No, as long as you and the baby are doing well. I am good." He was very direct about what he wanted.
"Alright, Miss Trager, Mr. Lowman. It was a pleasure meeting both of you. I will see you back in a few weeks. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I am here to make sure that your pregnancy goes as smoothly as possible." Dr. Hunnam smiled as he shook both of their hands.
Liv liked her new doctor. He was pleasant; he seemed kind and he certainly knew what he was talking about. He was also easy on the eyes, but there was no way in hell she was going to tell Happy she thought that. Liv was thrilled to know that she was not as high risk as her previous doctor thought she was.
"So, what do you think?" Liv asked Happy as they got into the car.
Happy glanced over at her before he started the car. "I don't like the idea of you having a male doctor. I suppose I can get over it, because I know you have done your research on him and he is the best doctor for you and the baby." He reached across and touched Liv's belly. She got butterflies from that one touch. "Do you think he looks a bit like Jax?" Happy asked with a frown.
Olivia wrinkled her nose. "Nope, I don't see it Hap. Do you think that all men with blond hair and blue eyes look like Jackson?" Sure, he was also charismatic just like Jackson; Liv just couldn't see it.
Happy let out an annoyed snort in response.
Liv was beginning to feel discouraged as they pulled away from the third house that they looked at that afternoon. The first house reminded Liv too much of Happy's house; as soon as she walked in she had flashes of her attack. She had walked right back out the door. She asked Hap to tell the realtor to stay away from houses that resembled that one. The second house was too small with only two bedrooms and the third didn't have much of a yard and was only two bedrooms. So, when they turned down the street to the fourth house Liv didn't have much enthusiasm left in her.
"Can we be done after this house?" Liv requested of Happy. She laid her head back on the seat and closed her eyes. Liv was done; she just wanted to go to back to Red Woody and share the good news about the baby. That was the one thing in her life at that moment that made her feel completely normal and hopeful about her future.
"Yeah. But I think you are going to like this one." Happy pulled the car to a halt.
Liv momentarily remained in the same position, she didn't have it in her to feel excited or like she was going to like the house. The thought of living in the house where she almost lost her life made her shutter. She didn't want to set another foot into Happy's house; all of the good and blissful memories that had been made there were shattered and erased by that one horrible experience. That hurt Liv the most, the one place where she had felt utterly safe was no longer her safe haven.
"Liv, you coming?" Happy voice sounded further away than it had moments before.
Olivia opened her eyes and looked towards his voice, he had already gotten out of the car. "Yeah. Sorry." She slowly got out of the car and looked at the house. It was a story and a half American Craftsman style house; completely different from any of the other houses they had looked at. The porch wrapped around the front and the side of the house. Liv didn't get her hopes up there had to be something wrong with the house or the yard.
"So, this house has only had one family; the kids have grown up and moved out and the owners were looking to down size. It is a four bedroom, two full bathrooms and a half bath. The previous owners updated the appliances and flooring prior to moving out." The realtor smiled as she unlocked the door. She stepped back and allowed Happy and Liv to wander into the house.
As soon as Liv walked through the doors of the house, she felt like it had a different feeling from the others. It home. Liv didn't even feel like she needed to look at the house, she wanted it; scratch that she knew she needed it. She saw her life with Happy and their children laid out in front of her. Olivia wanted to be the next family that lived there until they needed to down size after their children moved out. She looked over to Happy, who was gaging her reaction.
"I love this house." She whispered, scared if she said it any louder something would be horribly wrong with the house.
Happy smiled down at her. "See I told you, you would. Now, let's go take a peak at the rest of the house before we decide we are going to sign the papers." Happy took Liv's hand into his and lead her through the house.
Her gut didn't lead her astray, the house was perfect even though the yard was a bit smaller that she would have liked, but it was something she could work with. They were in the car and on their way to their realtor's office to put in an official offer. Liv didn't want to give anyone else a chance to get the house.
"Are you sure you don't want to wait and look at a few more houses." Happy smirked at Olivia. She knew he was joking, he liked the house too.
Liv frowned and shook her head. "No that is our house, Hap. I feel it in my bones, but the only question is: are you sure we can afford it with my not working right now?"
"Olivia. That is something you don't need to worry about." Happy's voice was gruff. Liv stared at him and waited for answer. "The answer is yes, Liv. We will be okay without you working. I have already found someone to buy my house and I am going to put my ma's house on the market. My job is to take care of you and our baby."
Happy placed in hand over Liv's belly. A flutter of warmth ran though her body as she placed her hand on top of Hap's. "I love you, Happy Lowman. I am truly blessed to have you in my life." She smiled at him. "I can not wait to meet our baby and to be your wife."
"I love you too Liv." Happy quickly looked over at her with a smile.
"He needs to die, like bad." Liv's voice was cold and calculating. It surprised Happy to hear it. "Reed and I are not safe until he is gone." She was scowling at Jackson.
Happy frowned. Sure, he wanted his revenge on the scumbag, but he didn't want to hear it from Liv's lovely lips. "Are you sure, Olivia?"
Liv turned from Jax and looked at Happy with such determination it answered his question before she could answer. "What if he came back to finish the job, Hap? What if you were to lose me? What if we were to lose the baby?" He watched her hand slid across the swell of her belly protectively and a few stray tears fell from her eyes. "I will do whatever I have to protect our baby. And I refuse to live in constant fear again, Happy. I refuse to worry about someone following me around or walking through my door and shooting me."
They had moved into their new house and had only been there a week and Happy had seen Liv develop some compulsive behaviors when it came to the house being locked up. She locked the door immediately after she walked in the house and made her way thought the house to make sure all the doors to the outside were locked, even though she had locked them before they had left or came inside. It actually hurt Happy to see Liv going through this and now it made more sense to him. She was afraid that she would be attacked again. She had already gone through so much and needed less stress in her life.
"Alright." Happy conceded. "We just need to figure out how to get a hold of him."
Jax called pulled his phone out of his kutt and dialed a number. "Hey, yeah man its going well. I need a favor. I need you to get me some information on someone…" He looked at Liv for more information.
"Charlie Lynch. Last known residence was in Stockton. Girlfriend was Reed Thompson." Liv stated. She looked so content with her decision. It made Happy wonder if he had caused her coldness. But, as he thought about it he realized that Liv never batted an eyelash when she had heard about the other men who had violated her dying. It was just hard because she had never made the call.
Jax relayed all the information to the person on the phone. "Yeah, brother thank you for your help. We will be looking forward to your call." Jax snapped his burner closed before looking back up at them.
Happy nodded solemnly at his president as he got up from the table. He turned and he thought he caught a glimpse of fiery red hair quickly turning down the hallway. He shrugged; he could have cared less if the red head heard their plans; he had already almost lost too much because of her. The mouse should feel relieved they were going to deal with the problem she brought to their doorstep. She would be safe. If she did hear she was all Quinn's problem and he would have to deal with her.
