Bet you never thought you'd see me again (honestly i didnt think youd see me either) But here I am…
Let's just cut to the chase after years of legal battle and a shit ton of lawyer expenses, I still do not own the Teen Titans
"What?"
Trigon smiled at his daughter's disbelief. "I am making you the new Vice President of Trigon Industries,"
"I know that's what you said, I just thought you were full of shit," Raven quickly realized what she had said, and flinched, bracing herself for Trigon's reaction. When she opened her eyes, he did not seem to be angry at her remark. No, he seemed to be laughing.
"It is exactly that kind of brutal wit that makes me sure that you can handle this position."
Raven's mind was spinning. For a moment she saw her dad as the man he was before her mother had passed. For just a moment she saw her father.
Trigon had never truly been a good man. Perhaps that's what Raven's mom liked so much about him. He was dangerous even as a teen when they first met. Everyone knew about his affiliations with the local gang, and even more people knew of the violence he was rumored to commit. Arella, on the other hand was sheltered and quiet. She never missed school during the week, and did ballet on the weekends. She'd been to a few parties, but was always the friend that promised they'd stay sober. If her parents caught her drinking it would have been the end of her world.
Needless to say everyone was surprised when goody two shoes Arella asked Trigon the homecoming dance their senior year.
What turned out to be more surprising, however, was when he said yes.
After homecoming the two infatuated teens officially became a couple. While the badboy routine was great for the intrigue, Arella soon found herself becoming adversed to his constantly dangerous escapades.
When Arella brought this up to Trigon, it was almost the end of them. That was the first time he ever really yelled at Arella. But soon enough, Trigon went to Arella to apologize, and said that he'd left the gang, that she was more important to him. Of course that's just what he told her.
Soon enough, high school was over for the two, and while Arella had always dreamt of going to college and pursue a career in dance, Trigon had convinced her that she should get an apartment with him as he took control of his father's business. This, of course, was much to Arella's parents dismay.
Arella's always parents knew Trigon was not right for their daughter, but she never listened. Even when she was able to admit when things were bad, she still couldn't leave him.
When Raven was born, Arella thought things may change, that Trigon would find compassion in their child. At first it seemed that it had. Trigon loved the idea of a legacy, and while at first he was disapointed to not have a male heir to his empire, after seeing raven's face for the first time, he decided a daughter would work too.
At this point in his life Trigon had everything he never thought he wanted, and he was happy. And then the market crashed and he was forced to take his father's business to a different level. In order to support his family. It was then he called up his old gang friends made his business what it is today.
But this took a toll on Trigon. He found himself blaming his daughter for their financial need. He began taking it out on Arella. Arella, who was beginning to see the effect the business was having on him. She urged him to let it go, to revert it to what Trigon's father had orginally intended it to be, but he was in too deep at that point.
Arella took the abuse so her daughter didn't have to, until one day it became too much.
Years before, around the time Trigon had snapped, the two got into a fight, and Trigon did something he promised himself he'd never do. He hit Raven. He hadn't done it intentionally, he had aimed for Arella, and perhaps the pent of resentment for this child had exploded, and he hit Raven instead. As soon that this happened Arella began to pack Raven and her things. She told Trigon she was leaving to stay with her parents for a while. But, just as she was about to leave, she received a phone call that her parent's house caught fire, and the two were unable to escape.
Trigon immediately came to her side to comfort her, and as much as she hated herself for it, she let him.
The day Arella killed herself was a day like almost any other. It was a saturday and she was home with Raven spending the day watching movies and getting housework done. Saturdays were always her favorite, Trigon spent all day at the office, and Raven didn't have school, so she could spend her day relaxing without fear that her husband would do anything rash.
Arella was cleaning out papers from an old filing cabinet Trigon had in his office when she had come across a printout of an email
Dear Trigon,
Thank you for doing business. We expect you bill to be paid in full by the following evening. The message was delivered, and we brought up the heat.
It's been a pleasure,
Slade Wilson
At first Arella dismissed the albeit strange email from one of Trigon's old gang buddies, but then she saw the date. It was the same day her parents died.
After that Arella snapped, she grabbed one of the guns Trigon kept in the house for safety and held it to her head. She had completely forgotten that Raven was home until she saw her standing in the doorway, but by then it was too late, Arella had already pulled the trigger.
Trigon's phone had rung several times. His phone read 6- now 7 missed calls. But he was busy. There was a large shipment of cocaine being brought in by one of his men, and he had to ensure that everything was running smoothly in this operation.
When he finally got the chance to call the number back he never thought these words would be the ones he heard
"Trigon Roth, I am sorry to inform you there has been an incident concerning your wife, Arella. Your daughter is with us at the hospital, please come as soon as possible,"
After that Trigon's world turned upside down.
He began drinking more than he ever had before. Everyday Raven began to look more and more like Arella and he couldn't take it anymore. That night, two bottles of whiskey emptied, Trigon took her.
As time went on the abuse only escalated, and Raven got better at hiding it. She was even able to hide it from Azar, the woman in charge of group counseling Raven had been court ordered to go to after a friend had caught her in the midst of a suicide attempt.
It wasn't until recently, after Slade had taken advantage of Raven, that he remembered his yearning to have someone to pass his business onto, a legacy. Before Trigon went to retrieve his daughter from that godawful boy's house, he sent in the paperwork that changed Slade's name to Raven's for the vice president of his company.
Raven doesn't remember much of what happened the following few days. She spent the rest of that day signing her name on a plethora of documents Trigon handed to her, until she found herself asleep amongst all of the paper work.
Much to Raven's shagrin the abuse had not stopped. In some ways, it was worse. In public Trigon treated Raven as his equal and often referred to her as such. Behind closed doors, however, Trigon referred to her as something much worse. He began to call her Arella.
