Heyyyyyyy I know it's been a couple months, but my laptop broke and I had to get a new one and that's what I'm blaming my absence on... Thanks a bunch to all y'all that review, it means the world to me, like if it weren't for y'all I wouldn't be writing
I own a doctor light thingy that I got in a mcdonald's happy meal, does that count? No? Fine...
With a straight face the doctor looked to him and said, as if he'd rehearsed it a thousand times,
"I'm sorry, I can only release that information to the parent or guardian of the family,"
Steve, struggling to maintain his composure said with disgust, "Her parent is the goddam reason she's in the hospital to begin with!"
The doctor seemed taken aback by Steve's bluntness, seemed to have an internal argument, but ultimately told them to wait there while he got the surgeon from Raven's case.
Finally the surgeon approached them, and led them to an empty patient room. "Normally," she began, leaning on the empty hospital bed, "I would never condone releasing patient information to those other than the immediate family, but given these… particular circumstances, I will allow it."
Steve tried to read the doctor, but her face remained stoic. The doctor had given many families life altering news, Steve only hoped that they wouldn't be one of them.
"Given the circumstances, it is a miracle she lasted as long as she did. Had it not been for your son's quick thinking, she never would have made it to the hospital alive. And had she have gone into surgery just a second later, she would not be alive now either," the doctor finished with a grim smile.
Steve and Rita let out the tension that was building up, glad that they could give their son good news.
"But," the doctor warned, "It is going to be a long recovery process, both physically and mentally. Especially now since she has no family,"
Before the doctor could continue, Steve stopped her, "No, she does have a family," he said looking at Rita, "My son has made her a part of our family, so we will do whatever it takes to ensure her recovery."
The doctor's smile was no longer grim, but full of wonder. "She is still under from the surgery, but i will let you know as soon as she wakes up,"
"Wait, before you go, could you.."
Gar was almost certain he was in hell. It certainly wasn't heaven, and it would have to be some twisted god for this to be his reality. Gar tried to stay calm, he wanted to be strong for Raven, but he could feel himself slowly losing control. He needed to know how she was doing, and he was just about to rip the IV out of his wrist when a nurse came in. Gar quickly regained his composure, acting as if he wasn't about to tear the hospital apart. The nurse didn't pay him much mind as she went about checking his monitors. She gathered the cords in her hand and began moving them closer to the window. Gar just watched as she rearranged the room, sensing that she was not in the mood to be talked to.
She met his stare and sighed "I'm gonna move your bed a few feet to the right."
Gar gave a her a quizzical look, but she ignored it. Before he could open his mouth to ask why she was moving everything around, he felt a burst of pain in his side. He sucked in his breath, causing the nurse to take notice and come to his side.
"Here, I'll administer some more pain medication, it'll make you drowsy, but it should help numb some of that pain."
Garfield gritted his teeth as he nodded, waiting for the sweet release of medication to take his pain away. Soon enough, Gar could feel the pain becoming less and less intense. Drowsy was definitely an understatement, Gar thought, as he closed his eyes and let his mind slip into unconsciousness.
But he was not free in his dreams. He saw his parents dressed to the nines and Raven in a strapless white dress smiling at him waiting for him to say the words that would seal their fates.
"I do," he heard himself say, though it was not his mouth that made these words come to life.
The man behind them, Richard, said "Well by the power vested in me by this website I found on Google, I pronounce you, my friends, Husband and Wife." As Richard said this he made eye contact with his own bride, Kori, and couldn't help but let a few tears fall.
But just before Garfield's lips could meet with Raven's in holy matrimony, Trigon came running down the aisle with a gun
BANG
When he woke up, he was glad not to feel any excruciating pain. But, his relief quickly turned into confusion as he realized he was no longer the only patient in this room.
Looking over at the hospital bed that now sat beside his own, he noticed familiar locks of violet hair. Tears immediately began coming from his eyes, and a nurse came in noticing the increased heart rate in her patient.
The nurse could not help but smile as she saw the boy react to the young woman in the bed beside him. She remembered what it was like to be young and in love, and couldn't help but hope that they would last. She knew she shouldn't be getting emotionally involved, these were her patients, of course, but after having lost too many of her friends, she couldn't help but feel for the two teenagers.
She walked to Gar, "Mr. Logan, I know things are really complicated right now, but I really need you to try to keep your heart rate down. You are still deep in the healing process and it certainly won't do Miss Roth much good if you are in worse of a condition than her when she wakes up."
Welllllll Are you happy? She not dead (yet ;) ...) (everyone dies eventually…) Lmao anyways Let me know what you thought in the comments! Hopefully I'll be back sooner than later (Also special shoutout to Axsian for messaging me and lowkey being the reason why I felt slightly more inclined than I already was to continue this!
