Chapter 2: The Road to El Dorado

The Amazon jungle is known to be one of the roughest places on Earth, what with it's proximity to the equator and high humidity. Unfortunately, this was not lost on Nate, Sully or Yang as they went through another batch of shrubbery. Sully was the last to appear, panting as he did.

"Hold up, I'm getting too old for this nonsense."

Grinning, Nate gave his reply, "Yeah, but you weren't too old for that barmaid in Lima, huh?"

Sully just smiled and said, "Ah, that was different, although I must admit, equally as strenuous."

Yang, wanting to join the conversation, added her piece, "Hang in there, Gramps, we're getting close."

"Ya know, this reminds me of something. Did I ever tell you all about the time I pawned a phony 16th century Santo off on Pablo Escobar?"

"Ugh! Yes! You told us that one twenty times over! Christ, Sully, stop with the Pablo Escobar thing!" Yang cried.

"Nice way to break my heart, Blondie. Let's see if I regale you with any more stories."

Nate got between them and said, "Enough fighting, kids. We're here."

The only problem was there was nothing in the clearing. The trio was confused. Where's the ruins? Where's El Dorado?

"You sure we're in the right place, Nate? There's nothing here."

"Should be. We're in the right spot according to the GPS."

Sully's annoyed at this point, "What a waste of time."

To this, Nate just replies, "Let's see if there's anywhere else to check."

Not even a minute later, they come upon a set of ruins older than the Inca sites in the region. Yang even called Ruby up to confirm the information. After a bit of investigation, a new path was opened by Nate via boulder. The interior of the ruins provided clues as to who was there before and what could be there. Turns out that the Spanish conquistadors went in search of El Dorado. It wasn't until the reached the final chamber that everything clicked for Nate. "Oh my god, El Dorado – The Golden Man! Sully, Yang it wasn't a city, it was this! A golden idol!"

Yang whistled, "Man, can you imagine how much that'd be worth?"

Sully pointed something out that killed the mood, "Looks like it was taken away already on logs or something. Trail's gone cold."

Nate was undeterred however, "Not if we follow the tracks. That should let us find where they loaded it."
