Author's Note
I just wanted to make a little note here, since it's been such a long time since I've updated and I'm first of all, honestly stunned people still read. Thank you all so, so much.
Secondly, I want to address some changes for the future. My writing style might be a bit different, considering how long it's been, but moreso my view of lore, of the characters and of Dust herself has changed somewhat over the years.
Soon, Dust's world and story will veer away somewhat from the Dark Brotherhood as she attempts to make a life of her own away from the one her mother tried to give her. While I originally started this story with the intent of a romantic adventure between Dust and Lucien, my view has changed a lot since then. The story will definitely continue, but go in a different direction. While the Dark Brotherhood and Lucien will still be big parts of Dust's story and life, I feel I want to pursue the way her character grew for me through other avenues, like roleplay, since the last time I've written.
Ultimately, I think I realize now that this isn't a story about the Dark Brotherhood, or about a romance, but about Dust. From her perspective, of her life, following where she goes. I know some people might be disappointed by that, and I totally get it. If you read this originally for the content about the DB, I can see why you might be annoyed if they get less spotlight as Dust's life changes, or if the relationship between Dust and Lucien sours. If the way the story goes from here isn't your cup of tea, I understand completely and thank you for reading as long as you have.
As for anyone else, those who might be here for Dust's story itself, thank you so much once more. I hope you enjoy following her journey as much as I've enjoyed writing it. With all that said, strap in!
