Guardians of Hogwarts: Chapter three
The coming of the wolf
It happened in first year. It's quite ironic if you think about it. Draco Malfoy desperately wanted to know what I am when he could have easily found out then. He was, after all, there. It happened during the detention we had with Hagrid after we were caught out of beds and some tale about dragons. I actually felt guilty about having Neville there. He had come to warn us that Draco was planning to get us into trouble…brave, even for a Gryffindor. Hermione and Ron were the two that I willingly told of my condition. Hagrid hasn't been the same since, his guilt of my attack eats at him, though I tell him it wasn't his fault.
The forest had been dark, and it only gets darker the further in you go. Hagrid had to switch 'teams' so that Draco and I were paired together. Of course, we stumbled upon Quirrel who was drinking Unicorn blood for Voldemort. Draco had screamed and ran off with Fang, the coward. Fang was a bit more understandable, he always acted like a coward. This is where things take a different turn from the story given to everyone except for those in the need to know. Quirrel had admittedly scared me, and yes, I was stumbling back to run before I tripped over a root. However, it wasn't a centaur that saved me from Quirrel…it was a werewolf.
It had rounded on me and lunged. There was nothing I could do. I knew no spells that would work against it, even if my brain had not frozen in fear. I was eleven, scared and in a forest I didn't know, who knew you could get attacked by a werewolf! Anyway, it bit onto my shoulder, part of my side and part of my neck. My mind was in a panic, fear, pain and confusion warped my senses. I had a reason to scream and yet I didn't…maybe it was because by then I had lost too much blood. A centaur did save me, that much is true. Firenze I believe his name was. He attacked the werewolf head on, kicking and yelling. The werewolf ran. Firenze looked saddened by my state. I was mauled and bleeding out and too be honest I didn't think I was going to make it. Firenze was gentle as he picked me up and carried me towards the castle. I remember asking him to tell Ron and Hermione they were my only true family, and that I loved them as such. Firenze only nodded.
We made it to the castle, where Dumbledore, Snape, Poppy, McGonagall and Hagrid were. I don't remember too much after seeing them. I just felt relieved that I might actually die in a place I considered home. I remember seeing worry and fear on my behalf etched into all their faces, even Snape's. I know for a fact that Snape and McGonagall helped Poppy heal me, helped save my life.
My tale of becoming a wolf is usual. I was attacked, panicked and then saved, as were every other werewolf out there. But what happened to me after that…well, not so usual. I met my 'uncle' when I was healing. Remus Lupin was my dad's best friends along with Sirius, but he also got along with my mum long before any of the marauders did. He was a regular werewolf. And, oh, was he furious when he learned that it was all for a detention. He ended up yelling at the headmaster and my head of house for assigning the detention before rounded on Hagrid. He couldn't yell at Hagrid, he knew that the man would have done everything he could of to prevent my state. Not even Snape looked ready to intervene, seeming to agree with what he was saying. Remus stayed with me for a while, for the full moons and helping me learn my way.
It wasn't long before we found out that I could turn into a wolf at will. My emotions would get to high and bam! A wolf. Even in Dumbledore's office. Damaged a lot of his office before the elder man could calm me down. And when he did…well…let's just say Ron's not the only one who can go red in the face. We worked on getting my emotions in check, basic clearing of my mind or stuffing my emotions in a box until I could deal with them later. It worked and we didn't have any more wolf explosions in the castle…the quidditch pitch was a whole different session, one with McGonagall.
But there is one instance where I couldn't control the inner wolf. It was on a full moon. I had went down for the wolfsbane potion that Snape had been brewing for me. Normally he had it made and all bottled up for me to drink. He'd sneer and I'd leave. However, on this occasion he was just bottling it up so I had to wait. Apparently Snape was having a bad day, having to watch Quirrel and all couldn't have been good for the Potion Masters health. So he kept rounding on me about how I was just like my father…One too many insults I guess, and I snapped, literally. I've never seen Snape shut up so fast. I know my instincts were primal…not at all like how they were before. I knew it was Snape before me but it wasn't me in control…well it was but not…Hard to explain, really. Snape thought I was pulling something on him and too be honest I don't blame the man. He pulled out his wand and I seemed to react; bit his leg. Apparently that convinced him that I wasn't actually in control. He shot a stunner at me, I managed to dodge and we got in a bit of a scuffle. I was young then, he won of course. Of which I'm thankful for. Unfortunately I remember it like it was yesterday. I feared that I might have turned him. Luckily I hadn't, but only because it was three hours away from being an actual full moon. I wouldn't go near the man for a month. Apparently, you could only skip so many of his classes before you were escorted.
…..
Hermione took my furry problem with ease. She felt extremely worried for me every time he left for the full moon. Ron…well Ron was Ron. It took him a few days. He was raised around people who out casted werewolves. I guess Ron didn't want to lose me as a friends and apologized shamefully about his actions. He even started joking about it.
The two of them have been God's gift to him in a way. He never would have stayed at Hogwarts as a student if they out casted him. The twins found out next. They had entered the forest to get some potion ingredients they needed for a prank. They had gone on a full moon and were attacked by the same werewolf that changed him. Oh, he got payback. He 'saved' the twins. He had turned to them and they let out a mighty scream. They were lucky it was near dawn, because even as I changed back to my human form I was still laughing my ass off. They took it well, however…they bargained never to not tell anyone if I didn't tell anyone they screamed and hugged each other like little girls. It took me thirty minutes to stop laughing to agree.
The Weasley family, ah. Dumbledore didn't see the need to tell them, as I was safe to be around so long as no one angered me. The Weasley family never did. I stayed with them at the burrow for a few months and in those full months I transformed each month on the full moon. Ron and Hermione, who had been invited over as well, helped sneak me out and stayed as long as they could. They trusted me, but after the whole Snape thing, I didn't.
Mrs. Weasley had caught me. She was up late, couldn't sleep, and she decided to visit Mr. Weasleys shed. I didn't see nor hear her. Maybe it was a mom thing, sneaking up on her kids. And since she considers me an honorary Weasley, I guess I'm in the loop of being snuck up on. I had been in the shed as well, chewing a rubber ball. It was better than biting myself out of boredom and the wolf's hostility. The only thing I heard was Mrs. Weasley scream before back pedaling. Her scream woke all of her kids and her husband who had all rushed out to her aid. I had followed her out, of course. Needless to say, Mr. Weasley drew his wand and stood in front of his family, protective. Mrs. Weasley was yelling at her kids to get inside, but the twins, Ron and Hermione wouldn't budge, so Ginny stayed not wanting to be the only one going. I had rolled over a few times on the ground before settling on covering my snout with my paws, trying to say I was not a danger to them. Oh, the look on Mr. Weasleys face was priceless. I think he knew it was me before Ron told them while he moved in front of me. After all, I was the only one who hadn't rushed out of the house.
Mr. Weasley, he took to me being a werewolf pretty well. Charlie, admittedly, was fascinated that I was an evolved form of sorts. Bill was like Charlie, only more brotherly about it. The twins, Ron and Hermione were all scolded hotly for not telling her but they only received a 'I can't believe you didn't tell me' lecture. At two in the morning Dumbledore was awoken and yelled at until six, at least, that's when Mrs. Weasley came back. Ah, good times, good times. Mr. Weasley, with the help of Charlie, Bill and Percy, all made a Weasley style shrieking shack. It was a lot nicer. It was warded…so that only Mr. and Mrs. Weasley could get in on a full moon. Hermione, being the clever and brilliant witch she was, re-warded it so that she and Ron could enter. The twins bribed her later to add them. This is the Weasley family…my second home and second family.
…
"Are you ready to go?" Hermione asks, drawing my attention out of my memories. I nodded.
"Summer break is going to suck." Ron sighed for the hundredth time.
"Still plan on not telling her that you're an illegal shifter?" Hermione asks raising an eyebrow.
"Are you mad? My mother would kill me if she found out" Ron exclaims.
"Or you can always say that I bit you and that your both werewolves now, after all, you do turn into wolves" Harry joked. Hermione, at least, understood that he was joking, if that eye roll was anything to go by. But Ron's face lit up-
"That's brilliant!" Ron yells.
"Wha- no, NO!" Harry tried to stop his thinking. For god sakes, it was a joke, not a plan! But Ron didn't seem deterred in the slightest.

A/N Sorry for not writing in a while. I decided to write this one because it was asked in the reviews. Admittedly I could have done loads better but…
