This is information about Kaoru's mother. Her name is Ruka. Enjoy!

Taking her blade Ruka thrust it into Shigemi's chest. Watching the blood leak out of her she smiled. Stabbing her again and again hoping it would make her feel better. Even when Shigemi's lifeless body fell Ruka waited for the joy to come. However the feeling never came and she remains the same angery hurricane she was when it all started.

Shigemi's death meant nothing. The blood on Ruka's blade was the same as the others who died before her. If this was what revenge was like then why the hell did she pursue it. Fight so hard just to get to where she is now. It wasn't supposed to be like this instead of happiness she felt numb and lifeless.

Turning around Ruka headed back the way she came hoping someone would be a challenge. She needed to take the edge off. As she ran into battle each body that feel felt the same. Her body was not tired and it frustrated the hell out of her.

By the end of the night Ruka figured that killing really didn't change what happened. It didn't take the pain away or bring people back. It sure as hell didn't make things the way they once were.

So when everyone was dead and her body painted with their blood. She left the battled field vowing to never again step foot here. It solved nothing thus not worth repeating.

They day was long even though she bathed the scent of blood covered her skin. Her blue eyes held bitterness and sadness.

Her father made her a worrier and when another woman thought to replace her mother she killed her. Said woman thought to take over her family and change their ways. Her father talked of leaving her mother. Meaning he would have her killed. Such was their way.

Now Ruka saw that killing that woman meant nothing. If her father truly wanted a new wife he would have one. If he wanted to change their ways then he would. She just had to face the fact that she had to start thinking of her.

Ruka's father had many children. More than enough sons to give him hires to continue their line. If she left he wouldn't miss her. In truth he most likely thought one of his sons kill the clan leader and her best warriors.

Within a month she spent less time around her family and more time wondering. Within that time Ruka came across swords men. One who equaled her on the battle field. Most importantly he saw her and not the killer she was made to be. Kamiya Koshijirō

Koshijirō's ideas to protect captured her heart long before she made plans to run away. Deciding she would leave with Koshijirō always at her side.

Not until the day she meant to leave did a follower of her father appear asking for her hand. He too equaled her in battled but he thought to rule. She saw how her mother fought for her position and vowed to never do the same.

That night he caught her, looking into her blue eyes saying the last thing she ever thought to hear from him.

"I love you my blue angel."

With her heart in her throat she answered him. Knowing the dangers of her answer but knowing a lie would end her sooner.

"I'm sorry but I can't say the same."

In shock he stayed rooted to the ground. Never in his mind did he think his love would deny him. Not when she was a part of the head family. The only woman who came close to beating him truly he'd been mistaken.

Not until the sun peaked did he awaken from his state of shock. Knowing he had lost his love but vowing on that day she would regret it.

Two years pasted and she started her new life married with a baby girl with eyes like her. Finally she was free of her father or so she thought…

I hope this explains what happen to Kaoru's mother. Oh I gave her the name Ruka. And Shigemi will come up again so make a note of her. I think everyone should have figured out the other man after Ruka's heart. Until next time! =)
