I don't Own R.K.

Blood and snow caked the bottom of her feet as she ran. Reaching the border she hid knowing now she was safe. Her heart pounding in her chest with the thought of her love still out there running. They separated so that one would go and get help. That's what he'd told her but she knew better. He was fighting and now she was going to get reinforcements.

Seeing Misao she called out for help. Once she was sure the girl was headed back she turned and ran back from which she came looking every which way for her red headed love so that she might help.

And help she did cutting her way until she was by his side. Fighting back to back until the ground was powered with blood and bodies both breathing heavy from exestuation. Their sleep was cut short from another ambush the bruise and cuts they acquired along the way not to the mention the fact they were just plan tired.

Hearing the others coming they made their way to meet them. In the mist of their happiness an archer stood too far to be detected. Shooting one arrow hitting his mark; the red haired man fell hearing the arrow coming but knew he couldn't stop it. Only make sure it didn't hit his lady love.

When it hit his back his world went black. The stress and wounds were too much for his body to handle. Even if there was a huge possibility that he was to die. Kenshin could only smile knowing he'd save Kaoru. As long as she was alive the man slayer regretted nothing.

Kaoru felt his body go slack behind her. Turning around she saw the arrow and scream. Tears added to the blood and dirt on her face holding his body close to hers before she too was consumed by the darkness.

Minutes later Misao saw Kaoru underneath a man with blood red hair. She could only guess him the Battousai everything in her screamed that she kills the man, but that would solve nothing. Her best friend would only hate her if she acted without her knowledge.

"Hurry we don't have much time."

Yahiko

Everyone was running around no one would tell him what was going on. His mind screamed attack while his heart yelled it had something to do with Kaoru. He hoped if his heart was right then she would come through the door and hug him.

Finally he found Sano who looked like death. Yahiko knew that it had to Kaoru. Turning to run the older man grabbed the kid and held him close to his body. Not knowing what to do just that he couldn't let him see what was now burned into his brain.

"Let me go. I have to see her. I have to know…Please Sano you bastard let me go."

"There are some things you shouldn't have to see kid. She isn't dead but she isn't great. When she wakes up I'll take you to her but not before. Just take my word for it."

Yahiko stilled she wasn't dead that meant she was alive. She wasn't dead. His heart stopped beating like it was about to burst and the young boy waited to be let go.

Once free he grabbed his bokken and headed out to the training grounds. Just as he reached the door he felt Sano's hand on him.

"I'm not going to look for her. I'm going to train. When she waked up I want her to be proud of me. If I cry and fight everyone one to see her it will only cause more trouble. Please let me go."

The fighter watched the boy with wisdom beyond his year. This boy was doing what he hadn't. When they brought her in with that red haired demon he all but killed to get to her. The state of her body; broke him deep inside forcing his mind to wonder how.

As the kids walked away Sano wondered where his love was at the moment. He hadn't seen her since he heard the commotion of them bring Kaoru back. Getting up he went in search of her.

Aoshi and Misao

Misao wanted to cry, scream, destroy everything she got her hands on, but she couldn't. Her body just sat here shaking. No tears fell from her eyes and no sound escaped her mouth. It was like she was frozen in time.

Aoshi watched his love sit there not moving. While he wanted to go to her he knew she couldn't be moved. Her mind was trapped in her body and only her friend waken would release her. She was the same way when he'd come back from a bloody battle. He was out for three days and for those days she stayed at his side.

His heart broke in his chest not being able to take this pain away. In this line of work there was always a possibility that someone would die. There wasn't a sure fire way for everyone to come back home safe. These moments were when they were reminded of that fact.

Taking the blanket in his hand he draped it over her shoulders and kissed her head. She moved from the pressure of the kiss but nothing else. That alone gave him hope that she may come back to him before Kaoru woke up.

I'm sorry it's been forever and a day but school is taking up most of my time. Don't worry I will not abandon my stories. Please R&R.
