Her blood boiled in anger she as walked to her room. Ichiro reported to hitting Kenshin and not that damn girl. If he died that man's head would be hers. She may not have loved him but she did care for him. There was a man behind that killer.

Opening her door she was surprised to see her husband who should have been out. Calming her face she looked into his eyes moving to his side.

"Tomeo what is the matter."

"Nothing my love all is as it should be. I know that girl isn't the one that was shot. Do you mean to tell me you wanted the Battousai dead?"

"No but from what my spies tell me she has grown fond of him. When she comes for us she will be sloppy and angry. That will make killing her easy."

He searched her eyes for a lie but found none. Still he could tell she was holding something from him. Maybe this wasn't what she really wanted. They still could back out.

"What if we announced her dead and left things as they are? With the others thinking she too is dead they will go to the next family in line."

"No if they find her a live or she comes for us we will never rule. Once she is dead and we take over everything will be as it should be."

"If that is what you want my love then it shall be."

Kissing her lips he moved to write a letter. His brother in law had a whore who could be of use to them. If she could kill the girl then there would be no more bloodshed. He was growing tired of this witch hunt. He'd lost too many men and to be honest he knew damn well the girl didn't want to take her place here in their world. She'd been raised in peace until they started this search for her. Maybe they should have left things as they were.

Kaoru

It was dark my body felt as if it was giving up on me. I couldn't hear anything so maybe I was dying. Mostly alone on the battle field I really hate this is how I'm going to die.

Kenshin I wish I had met him soon. I wish I could kiss his lips and tangle my fingers in to his blood red hair. Listening to his heart beat under my ear as I lay on his chest. The way it was before they attacked. If could choose how I die it would be like that. With the man I loved. I should have told him that. Maybe I'll see him in heaven.

Again I feel myself fading but I don't care enough to fight it. Instead I allow it to take me. Heaven or hell doesn't matter to me. I just hope I see Kenshin there.

*She wakes up*

Misao heard her breathing become uneven. Today she hoped would be the day she finally woke up from her two week coma. Each day was harder than the last she knew everyone feared for her. But this time she ate, lightly slept, and took care of her best friend and her companion.

After two weeks of doing so she deserved some ray of sunshine. It had better be Kaoru's blue eyes opening up. Kaoru was the only family she had left and she'd be damn if she lost her too.

"Kaoru…Kaoru"

"Misao I remember telling you that your voice it too high pitched to squeak in the morning."

Tears filled her eyes as she lightly hugged her. Even if it was an insult it was good to hear her voice. Rushing out of the room she yelled for Aoshi. He could tell everyone Kaoru was wake while she went to get her some broth. Her body couldn't take solid food being on a soup diet. So this would have to do.

"She has awakened."

"Yes please tell everyone while I"

"No I will put you to bed you promised and I am now holding you to it."

"She needed food and a bath and"

"And we have doctors and maids they will take care of our friend. Now it is time to take care of you."

Picking her up kicking as scream Aoshi remember that it had been sometime since he'd had her in his embrace. More importantly his bed, now that their dear raccoon was awake he could put his weasel to sleep.

The noise woke everyone as they make their way to their room. Sano and Yahiko ran to the room that held their beloved friend. Swinging the door open they fought each other for who would be first.

"Guys please be quiet. My friend has yet to wake up. He needs his rest."

The two males looked down before Sano allowed Yahiko to enter first. The kids hadn't seen her when she came in. It was only fair.

Kaoru smiles at her young appetences. He smiled and allowed tears to fall down. Before he joined her little family he was taught to never shed tears. Guess he would never be a real man. If that meant he'd have more time with his family then that was okay with him.

"I've been practicing. I bet I'm as good as you now."

Kaoru reached out her arms and waited for him to come to her. Her body was too tried to get up beside her little Yahiko really just wanted to cry until his eyes dried out.

Yahiko got the hint and walked over to give her a hug. His body began to shack as her shoulder became wet with his tears. Before the Kaoru knew it his body went slack in her embrace.

"Sano a little help here."

The tall man picked up the kid before hugging her himself. They needed to talk but now wasn't the time. He could tell that she was about to knock out. With Yahiko in his arms he headed back to his room.

In the hall watching her fighter put the young boy to bed she smiled. Megumi was happy to have the woman back in his life. She knew their love was more a sibling nature. Seeing as the blued eyed woman was the closest thing her love had to a sister she knew she had to help her.

The man slayer wasn't up yet because the arrow was poisoned. If she was right it wouldn't show up until it was about to stop his heart. That meant he had a three more weeks to live.

Entering the room that held her lover's sister he made way to the body. Until she saw crystal blue eyes staring back at her. A blade at her neck she didn't see it coming.

"I can help him."

"What do you mean?"

"He should have woken up like you but he hasn't. They usually poison the tips of arrows. I came here to make sure he doesn't die."

"Why are you helping us?"

"I am done being scared. If I have to die I will die on my own terms. Sano has brought me happiness and if you are hurt then he is hurt. So I am going help him by saving the man you love. Will you let me?"

"If he dies then you will die as well."

"I understand"

Megumi moved over to the red haired man. Calling for others to come and get her everything she needed. It was going to be a long day.
