Save Me

I don't own RH.

SOooo I haven't just not updated its just life kinda took more than I would have liked from me. Still I hope you enjoy this chapter.

Battousai

In the back of my mind I believe I am getting soft. In the past I would have slaughtered without thought. But not all dogs can live as slaves under their master's command. I am as such and so it seems I will never be able to live under anyone's authority.

Most wouldn't refer to themselves as a canine either but I have no bones against it. I saw a beautiful blue eyed woman and I took her for my own. Scared off an old suitor who would only cause her pain protected her from those who wish her dead. Finally I have given her a family that was denied her because of her heritage.

A good man would protect her from the shadows. Allowing her to find a man who life dwells in the light where she should resided. A pure hearted man who hasn't been tainted by the sins of the world's underbelly.

However I am not that good man, but I masquerade as one. I can lead her to light and keep her there. In doing so I shall protect her and our child.

Darkness is in my soul it will never be cleaned. Killing was an ecstasy much like sex or drinking. At one point I believed that the kill should be savored with sake. I never had regrets until I found something that couldn't be mine; Tomeo who truly wouldn't be mine.

Then I'd become truly lost to my one nightmarish life. If Kaour's light can drag me back then she can continue to do so for the others. My Koi's souls will shimmer and shine lost souls to her until she has saved the world.

All I ask is to witness her doing so. Happiness, hope, love, all reside within her. The dog that I am can't release it or extinguish it. I swear Koishii I will preserve your light.

Tomeo

The look on his face as he entered my room scared me. I'd never seen such insanity written on someone's face before. Each step held no sound. These were the movements of a killer one that made me weary of his next movements.

I tried desperately to recall his face but nothing came to mind. If I was going to die for a past sin I would like to remember what I'd done to summon this demon of death. Wrapping my arms around my belly I froze.

Freezing away any fear left within me. I could no longer worry about my own life. I was a mother this life within in me came before my own. This child would see life if that meant making a deal with the devil than my soul would be its payment.

"I don't know who you are or why you have come here. But if you wish to kill me know that you are going against the wishes of the counsel. More importantly you are going against The Blue Rose. Battousai's woman."

"If that is the price I must pay for killing you then so be it."

" You would kill me while I am with child?"

His movements halted, as his demeanor changed completely. For a second Tomeo held hope of life in her heart.

"I will come for your life, but not at the cost of your child. I will kill you and force the same fate upon your child that was thrown upon my own." Releasing these words into the room he vanished through the door.

As she waited to be sure she was safe. Her heart quicken once she notice there were no footsteps. No evidence of his departure from her presence or room.

Deep breaths flowed onto her skin as strained herself to hear something. Anything from the hall other than her labored breathing. Searching the room she found nothing.

Her chest stung as her panic as the silence was filled with screams of death. Running from the door she quickly searched for a way out. Until a very important fact reached her mind.

If she was to be guarded until her fate decided. Then how was that man able to enter without alarming anyone. He had to be one of the consul members. Her life was officially on borrowed time, even if Kaoru didn't kill her.

That man surly would.

When all was silent again she heard rushed footsteps coming to her door. The possibility of these people coming to check on her was lost to her. The door sliding opening, seeing her husband entered the room was too much for her.

Tears of true happiness retreated from her soul. For a moment she thought that she'd imagined him in her fearful state. Upon hearing him call her name Tomeo knew in an instant that he was her love, her husband. Moving to embrace her dearest love the pregnant woman's world went black with call of her name.

Sano

I watched the kid mope around for five days until I couldn't take it anymore. The girl was still around she would come by to see him every now and again. It was a sicken puppy love that kids hold on to. Except this kids had seen too much and done too much to be considered a kid.

Looking out he thought what Kaoru would tell the kid. There was never a time she didn't have an answer to their problem. Back when it was just the four of them it seemed like she made solving their problems look trivial.

Like he treated the love she had for him. As if it was a childhood crush that would go away. But instead it grew without his love to nourish it transforming a childhood crush into a bitter old flame. Had the great Sangara conducted himself as a man should she wouldn't have been so heart broken. The old man might have found another death sometime later.

Said old man would be here to council his adoptive son like a father should. In his stead he had Sano. The fighter who held love for a woman who helped kill his father figure. How in the world was he going to help Yahiko deal with the reality that he couldn't have Tusbame.

Laying down he thought back over it all. Sadly his mind rotated around who would be better in this situation. Needing a change in subject if for a moment and found that was the difference in him and Kenshin. He wanted Kaoru and got her. Saw she needed protection and saved her. While he did nothing. That nothing stood for more than just watching his childhood friend lose her mind. Now he think the kids love life a better subject.

Now he had a choice to do nothing in regard of Yahiko or helping the twerp get the girl in the end. Getting up he headed for his lady love. Know all too well that he knew nothing on the game of love.

Kaoru

After everyone left I felt a similar presence in the room. Reaching for her sword she readied herself in case he was no longer friendly like he'd been when she was killing Tomeo's clan. With news of her sparing the woman's life she'd have to face his wrath.

In any case he loved her mother. That love drove his action to this day. But at what time do you try to move on. Is there even a time one frees themselves from painful memories and lives again? The thought itself was hypocritical.

She herself killed over a hundred people in one night after Kenshin's fake death. Not once knowing she was with child. Her father would be ashamed of her actions thus far, but maybe a bit happy with the baby.

Though she was not wed, in the middle of stopping a war but the baby would help turn his sour face. She giggled imagining the expression her father would have made once she told him. Kenshin's hair and her father's face would have competed for the title of most red.

Without her notice Kaoru starting a fit of giggles that couldn't be stopped. But that sight of happiness did more than have others peek in on her fearful she'd gone mad. It brought tears to the eyes an old man trying to live with his choices of youth.

Tipping over from her laughter Kaoru felt hands behind her, surprised it not her love but Hiko. Shaking his head at her antics upon pushing her up he hesitated at her belly. To which Kaoru placed his hand over her bump to quill his fears.

He didn't have this chance with mama. But maybe this time around can give him peace. Like is will for us. Only for a moment or two did the old manslayer stay in that position content for the first time since he'd seen his love all those years ago.

With gentleness no one had ever seen. Hiko removed his hand to reach for that of his apprentice. Who'd reappeared after he notice the second Ki in the room. Guiding it to the young woman in his arms before rising and walking off into the hall way.

"Do you think this helped him any"

"Considering they killed your mother a short time after you were born. Yes Koi think it did."

I hope it was worth the wait if not I will do better in the next one. I only plan on two more chapters but my plans never workout right to here's hoping. Until next time.
