"Ren, did you ever think about pursuing a degree in culinary?" Hiroki asked while wolfing down his food.
"I did, but it's very hard work and I just enjoy cooking and baking for fun, not as a living."
"At least we can brag about our daughter's cooking skills to other people." Nowaki said grabbing more food. Ren wasn't sure how to respond to Nowaki's compliment, she never imagined she would ever have such a warm and loving family to be with again.
"I'll clear the table when you're done and we can eat the rest later."
"That's not necessary Ren, go study we'll clean everything up." Hiroki said without looking up from his food.
"Alright papa, I'll see you in class then." Ren smiled and left to go to her room
"Hiro-san, you don't show it, but you're actually really fond of our daughter aren't you? I bet you'd even let her use you as a guinea pig when she makes different foods." Nowaki said grinning from ear to ear.
"Who said that? Stupid." Hiroki blushed, while Nowaki just continued to smile.
Ren sat at her desk in her room listening to music from her laptop while she read through her textbooks for various subject math, literature, science, history (the usual subjects you would take in college). The literature and science was easy enough to understand, but math and history weren't her strongest subjects since they required a bit more memorization than anything.
"I guess I'm only efficient when it comes to things that I like." Ren mumbled to herself while twirling a pencil between her fingers. She took her earbuds out and shut down her computer. Grabbing her cellphone she scrolled through her contacts and clicked on Misaki's number, she was surprised when he picked up on the first ring.
"Takahashi Misaki speaking."
"Misaki-kun, were you able to finish the homework from Kamijou-sensei?"
"R-Ren-chan, it wasn't too bad, Usagi-san helps me out with things like this."
"Misaki-kun let's sit together again!"
"Of course we can, I'm off to bed soon but we can talk some more during class."
"Mhm, goodnight Misaki-kun." She laughed quietly before hanging up.
Ren glanced at the rest of her contacts before composing another text message to Kou. He was still kind of mysterious to her as far as she knew he was completely in love with his lover, slightly emotionally distant when it came to friends, and a good book salesman to women.
Ren: Hey there, just sending this text to let you know I still remember you
Kou: Ren! You do love me after all
Ren: You're not very convincing, I deserve a discount on books putting up with your flamboyant attitude :'(
Kou: Hmm, true I should probably be nicer to you
Ren: You should considering you also said we're official friends after two months
Kou: Fine, you win…have a good evening Ren, I'm going to pick someone up from work
Ren: You too, and you and I both know that's your lover, you suck at making normal excuses
Kou: Stop seeing through me! Your intuition is scary…
Ren: Have fun Kou! ;)
Kou: ;P
Ren plugged her phone in and changed into her sleep clothes.
"Okay, time to get some sleep and get ready for school again," Ren said talking to herself, before getting comfortable in her bed.
