Disclaimer: I don't own Vampire Diaries in any shape or form. But I do own my OC.
A/N: This is the second part of Bad Moon Rising with a few of my own twists to the storyline. This part has all the werewolf plotline of the episode, as well as some semi-smutty Tonnie and a whole lot of Caroline bonding with Bonnie and Aliyah. Not to mention, some redeemable Stefan here and there.
And I just want to say thank you so much to all my reviewers and favouriters and followers I have out there because it's really nice to know that people are enjoying the story. I love you all so much and you're the best! And I'm like 4 reviews off 300, so let's see how we go with this chapter!
Okay, before I go onto the chapter, there is just one thing I wanted to talk about. The last chapter, I made a comment about how the love triangle was pretty much over and there have been a few people who have been worried about that. I just wanted to clarify a few things. The love triangle is over in the sense that Aliyah has made her choice and Elijah as accepted it. There's no more angsting about which brother to pick because she did that a thousands years ago and everyone's come to terms with it now – Klaus, not so much, but that's a story for another day. However, there is a lot of unfinished business between Elijah and Aliyah. Aliyah never quite stopped loving Elijah even though she loves Klaus more and she knows that she does, and Elijah, while he may have slept with and even loved other women, never stopped thinking that Aliyah was his 'one true love'. So, for all we know, because there is still so much emotion between the two, we might see Aliyah turn to Elijah for comfort. Not anytime soon. Not soon at all. Like way off into the future, but we might see it.
Reviews: All the replies are at the end of the chapter so I don't make it hard for people to read the chapter :)

Chapter 15
Bad Moon Rising: Part II
"So, where's Forbes?" Tyler asked, curiously.
Matt shrugged. "With your girlfriend." He grinned.
"Knew I didn't like her for a reason." Tyler resisted the urge to pout. He and Bonnie had only gotten together last night and already he was apart from her.
"Congratulations, by the way. You finally managed to get Bonnie Bennett to be your girlfriend." Matt smirked.
Tyler preened. "I did, didn't I?" He said, proudly.
Matt shook his head. "I don't know how you did it." He said, disbelievingly.
"Hey, girls are just attracted to my natural charm." Tyler said, smugly.
"Yeah, girls who aren't Bonnie." Matt pointed out.
"So, you and Forbes? You guys on the outs already?" Tyler asked, curiously. He didn't much care for the blonde cheerleader, but she was his best friend's girlfriend and his girlfriend's best friend. His Bonnie Rabbit would be upset if something happened between Matt and Caroline.
"No." Matt said, steadily. "We're fine. I'm fine. I'm just not sure what she is." His eyes caught something in the distance and he shoved Tyler, gesturing to the car approaching the waterhole. "What's your uncle doing here?" He asked, confused.
Tyler frowned, seeing Mason get out of his jeep, and walked over. "You busting us or you joining us?" He raised an eyebrow.
"Neither." Mason shook his head. "Hoping you can make sure everyone is out of here by dark." He said, pointedly.
Tyler frowned, narrowing his eyes, suspiciously, at his uncle. "What happens after dark?"
"Someone ends up wasted and dead at the bottom of the lake." Mason said, bluntly. Tyler laughed, thinking that Mason was joking. Mason sighed. "You heard your mom. The family is liable if anything happens." He said, sternly.
"Don't be a party killer." Tyler rolled his eyes.
"Hey," Mason shrugged. "I didn't say you had to stop partying, I just said you had to take it elsewhere."
Tyler nodded, reluctantly. "Alright, we'll be out of here."
From afar, Caroline and Bonnie were watching Mason and Tyler interact. Stefan came up to them, and Mason looked at him, Stefan looking back.
Caroline frowned at Stefan. "Why are you looking at him with your serious vampire look?"
Stefan frowned in confusion. "My what? My "vampire serious look"?" He chuckled.
Caroline nodded, cheerfully. "Uh-uh. I mean, it's different from your worried vampire look, neither of which stray too far from your "hey-it's-Tuesday" look." She smirked.
Bonnie grinned.
"I get it, okay. You think I'm… you think I'm too serious. Is that it?" Stefan raised an eyebrow.
"No, I think you're a jackass who compelled me to forget all of the horrible things your brother did to me." Caroline said, bluntly.
Stefan grimaced and rubbed the back of his neck. "If it means anything, I am sorry about that, Caroline. I just thought it would be better for you if you didn't remember what Damon did to you. I never thought you would get turned and all of your memories would come back." He said, apologetically.
Caroline crossed her arms over her chest and fixed him with a glare, her brow raised. "So, you're sorry that I remember and not sorry that you did it in the first place?" She said, incredulously.
"No… I mean, yes… I mean-" Stefan sighed. "Look, I'm just sorry. For compelling you and for what Damon did to you. I should've handled things better. I should've stopped Damon earlier and I never should've used you as bait for him in the first place. I'm sorry." He said, sincerely.
Bonnie frowned at Stefan, knowing that he was genuinely apologetic for what had happened in the past, but experience warned her to be suspicious of the vampire in front of her. Not to mention, the burning resentment that Stefan was partly the reason her Grams had died and both Salvatore brothers would gladly throw her – and Caroline – to the dogs if it meant keeping Elena safe.
"What are you doing here, Stefan?" She asked, suspiciously. "What do you want?"
"Aliyah." Stefan said, simply. "She told me to keep an eye on you both. Especially with Mason Lockwood in town."
Bonnie swelled up with anger. "I can keep an eye on Caroline. I don't need your help." She snapped.
Stefan shook his head. "I know, Bonnie." He said, reassuringly. "I know you can take care of Caroline. I just thought you might appreciate the extra help if something happened."
Caroline glared at him. "Hey! I'm in perfect control, I'll have you know." She growled. "No urges or anything." She hissed.
"Just as a precautionary measure." Stefan said, quickly. "I promise. You won't even know that I'm here."
"Remind me to kill Aliyah when she gets back." Bonnie muttered to Caroline.
But Caroline wasn't paying attention. Her focus was drawn back to her boyfriend, who was being approached by a dark-haired, high school girl.
Matt smiled at her, gently. "Hey, Aimee."
"Thanks. You know, you're missing all the fun in the water." Amy said, seductively.
Matt flashed her his cast. "Not waterproof." He explained.
Aimee sighed. "Too bad. So, there's a full moon tonight. We're gonna light a fire later and tells ghost stories." She offered.
"Uh, I don't know." Matt said, hesitantly.
Caroline narrowed her eyes and stormed over before Bonnie or Stefan could stop her. She smiled her Mystic Falls smile at Matt, her eyes bright and her teeth white.
"Matt." Caroline said, sweetly.
Matt glared at her. "What the hell? I've been calling you." He growled.
Caroline faltered by the angry expression on Matt's face. "I know," She said, hastily. "I got held up, but I'm here now." She looked at Amy and her lips narrowed, jealousy burning in her stomach. Her jaw tightened and her heartbeat sped up until she was hot in the face.
"Hi, Caroline." Aimee smiled, sweetly, her eyes glinting.
Caroline narrowed her eyes, her pupils dilating as she compelled the young girl in front of her. "Go find somebody single to stalk, Aimee." She said, sharply.
Amy left, obediently, without giving Matt a second look.
Matt scowled. "Seriously?"
"She was flirting with you." Caroline said, defensively.
Matt threw his hands up in the air. "She's harmless; you don't have to be rude."
Caroline pouted, looking put out. "You're mad?"
Matt raised an eyebrow. "You've been dodging my calls all day and you get to show up here and be the jealous girlfriend? It's kind of lame, Care." He said, lowly. Matt stared at her before leaving.
Caroline huffed under her breath and pulled out her phone, dialling Aliyah's number, feeling her hands start to shake as the anger quickly left her body. She was now suddenly cold, her hands trembling and she felt sick to her stomach.
"Hello, darling, what can I do for you?" Aliyah asked, cheerfully.
"I compelled someone." Caroline said in a rush, running her hands through her hair.
"Okay," Aliyah said, slowly. "Why don't you tell me what happened?"
"Well, this… wannabe bitch… Aimee Bradley, she was coming onto Matt and I don't know, I just got so angry and I wanted her to get the hell away from Matt, so I just compelled her." Caroline whispered. Her shoulders straightened. "She deserved it." She said, defensively.
Aliyah remained silent, thoughtfully. "Mind you, I don't have any problems with compulsion. But, I thought you did." She licked her lips. "You're the one who told me that nobody deserves to have their mind messed with for superficial reasons." She said, pointedly.
Caroline scowled. "You know, why is everyone sticking up for Aimee freaking Bradley?" She snapped.
"I'm not sticking up for anyone." Aliyah said, patiently. "But your jealousy is out of control. Remember what I told you the night you transitioned? Your emotions are heightened and you're letting them get the better of you."
"Great," Caroline scowled. "So, I'm doomed to be that shallow, pathetic, bitchy, stuck-up Mean Girl cheerleader everyone says I am for the rest of eternity." She rolled her eyes.
Aliyah smirked. "I never said this would be easy." She said, pointedly.
Caroline snorted. "Yeah, well, I might as well have stayed dead. My entire personality is killing me." She could practically hear Aliyah smile at that. "Shut up." She muttered.
"Just take it easy, pretty girl." Aliyah said, soothingly. "And stay close to Bonnie. You know, before you start chucking cheerleaders into the pool." She snickered.
"Oh, I hate you so much." Caroline hissed and hung up the phone with annoyance.
Stefan approached her, cautiously. "I saw that, you know. You compelled that girl."
Caroline rounded on him, baring her teeth in the picture of a snarl. "You don't lecture me compelling people, got it? If you're going to start judging me, you can just-"
Stefan held his hands up in the air in a 'surrender' position, biting down the words he desperately wanted to say, knowing that they wouldn't be taken too well by the highly-strung Caroline.
"I was going to say something about how compelling innocent people is wrong," Stefan began. "But I'd be kind of a hypocrite if I said that. I've used my fair share of compulsion and I shouldn't judge."
"Good, so don't." Caroline said, sharply, softening just the slightest. "I'm still angry at you, you know."
Stefan looked down at his feet and rocked back on his heels. "I know, and you have a right to be. But Aliyah asked me to keep an eye on you. She really cares about you." He said, sincerely.
"Yeah, and all you people have been doing is talking smack about her." Caroline crossed her arms over her chest and glared at him.
Stefan nodded. "I am sorry, but you have to understand. We were just worried about what Aliyah might do to Elena. You may not have realised, but Aliyah doesn't really like Elena all that much." He pointed out.
"Yeah, so what?" Caroline threw her hands up in the air. "I'm not too crazy about her either right now. I mean, she lied to me for months. There's no law that everyone has to like Elena." She said, pointedly.
"I know, but Elena… she's just trying to work her way through all of this. She hasn't exactly had a great time of it." Stefan said, softly.
"Well, she hasn't exactly let any of us in. And she's not the only one who's had a hard time." Caroline scowled. "You may not have realised this, Stefan, but your brother raped me for weeks." Stefan flinched. "He shoved me around. He ordered me to do everything he asked. He controlled everything about me: what I did, where I went, what I wore, who I saw. He abused me. And my mother may just disown me for becoming the thing she hates the most. Bonnie lost her grandmother, who was pretty much the only family she had left. She was possessed by a centuries-old witch. Matt lost his sister. Tyler lost his dad. All of us have lost people. All of us have been hurt the last couple of months." She said, coldly. "Look, Elena's my best friend and I love her. I really do. But Bonnie and I just need some time to figure all of this out. It doesn't mean we're abandoning her. We're both just a little angry at the way our lives have gotten." She shook her head, her voice softening slightly. "And I do appreciate you looking out for me, I really do, Stefan, but I can do this on my own. I'm not going to hurt anyone. And if I do, I know you'll stop me before I go too far." She said, reassuringly.
Stefan nodded, reluctantly. "I can understand that." He said, quietly. "And I will, Caroline. I promise, all I want to do is help you." He hesitated. "How's the human blood diet working out for you?"
Caroline shrugged. "Aliyah and I went hunting last night. I didn't kill anyone." She said, quickly, reading the judgement in his gaze. "But I've been sticking to blood bags."
Stefan nodded. "Blood bags are good. They keep you on track and they keep you strong. You should stick to them. If you want, I could teach you how to hunt animals." He offered.
Caroline shook her head, a grimace on her face. "No offence, but killing bunnies makes me feel like a serial killer. And I'm already a vampire, so…" She trailed off.
"Yeah, okay, fine, I can see that." Stefan murmured, looking putout.
"Now, if you don't mind, I'm just gonna go and find my boyfriend, who looked incredibly pissed off at me." Caroline muttered and stormed away.
"So, where are you taking me?" Tyler grinned, as a coy Bonnie dragged him off into the woods, far away from everyone at the swimming hole. "You know, I really shouldn't be too far away from the swimming hole, what if someone-"
Bonnie rolled her eyes and shoved him against one of the trees, slanting her mouth over his. Tyler groaned as the first contact between their lips send sparks shooting up his spine – like a one-of-a-kind event that you'd remember well into your old age, like seeing a shooting star or a meteor shower. He wondered why he didn't kiss Bonnie all day, every day, because he couldn't think of anything he'd rather be doing. She tasted sweet like the iced tea she had just been drinking, and her lips were deliciously plump and wet as they moulded against his. Tyler warred between the part of him that wanted to take his time with her and the other that just wanted to make love to her, right against this tree.
His hands slipped down to her waist, his hands curving around her hips, and he spun them around, pressing her against the tree and lifting her lip, so that she could wrap her legs around his waist. Tyler cursed and he tasted Bonnie's mouth as if he had just bitten into a juicy, ripe fruit. Bonnie, at first, had no idea what to do with her hands, but she draped her arms around his neck and her hands made their way to tug and pull at his thick, black locks, the twinges of pain only arousing him all the more. He growled against her mouth and her legs tightened around his waist, as Bonnie pressed herself all the more earnestly against him.
An artful tongue gently prodded against her mouth and Bonnie's lips parted, eagerly. She groaned, inadvertently, as her tongue teased Tyler's, their make-out session quickly turning explicit. Her hands slid down his muscled chest, her palms rubbing across the planes of his chest, proud that her Stray was such a delicious specimen of manliness. She arched her back and wondered how she had ever gone years without the warm, hard press of Tyler's body against her much softer and curvier one. She had the errant, regretful thought that if she had only had the courage to tell Tyler what she felt for him after they had slept together, they could have been doing this for years.
Tyler's hands, which had been holding her up against the tree by the waist – my, my, my Stray sure is strong, she purred in her head – slid up her sides, before journeying back down her spine, slowly, unhurriedly, and curved around her arse, making her whimper as he squeezed, playfully. Bonnie's eyes almost rolled back in her head as she clutched Tyler to her, her lungs burning and desperately in need of air.
For just a second, they broke away from each other, Bonnie's hands stroking his muscled shoulders, and they stared at each other half-lidded, wide-blown, dark eyes, and their noses grazing. They were short of breath, Bonnie's stomach was convulsing, and she could feel Tyler's hardness pressed against her stomach. Bonnie swallowed hard and rubbed her thighs together, and she realised that she was, in fact, very wet.
Tyler flushed and started to pull away from her. "Bonnie Rabbit, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have-"
Bonnie, forcibly, tugged him back to her, arching her back and curving her thighs around his waist, pressing the evidence of the wet flesh between her thighs against the length of his cock, making him groan against her mouth, showing him just how much she wanted him.
"We can't." Bonnie whispered. "But not because I don't want to." She said, earnestly.
He pecked her on the lips. "I know, Bonnie Rabbit. It's the wrong time. And I don't want the first time that we have sex after we got together to be in the woods, with a party going on a hundred feet away." He chuckled. "You deserve to be in a bed with me making love to you."
"Preferably with condoms." Bonnie murmured, making Tyler laugh. "And yes, I meant the plural. I don't plan on letting you out of the bed until I am thoroughly satisfied."
He helped her off the tree, her legs sliding from his waist and falling onto the ground, and she stared, unabashedly, at the tent in his shorts, making him blush under her dark gaze.
"Uh, give me a moment." Tyler stammered, rubbing the back of his neck, and walked in the opposite direction of the party, going behind a tree.
He looked back and she winked. "Think of me, would you, sugar?"
"Any luck?" Damon raised an eyebrow.
Elena shook her head, rifling through the box. "There's nothing in here about Katherine that we don't already know."
Damon smirked and crossed his arms over his chest. "Ah, man, you know, it's a bummer we're not friends anymore, because I could tell you what I know."
Elena raised an eyebrow. "Now, who's manipulating who?"
Alaric frowned, peering at a piece of paper. "Hey, guys, check this out."
Aliyah moved over to Alaric and narrowed her eyes, resisting the urge to grin like an idiot when she saw the familiar writing on the piece of paper.
"There's no record of werewolf mythology in Mystic Falls, but here are some records of some of the lesser-known legends. Everything from Scandinavian skin-walkers to the Maréchal de Retz." Vanessa explained, handing Aliyah a book with drawings.
Aliyah smirked down at the page, reading the Aztec phrase. "This roughly translates into the "Curse of the Sun and the Moon"." She told the others.
Elena frowned at her. "You can read that?" She asked, incredulously.
Aliyah raised an eyebrow. "I'm hundreds of years old, Elena, you'd think that I picked up a few languages along the way." She scoffed.
"It's Native American." Alaric murmured.
"No," Aliyah shook her head. "It's Aztec. It explains one origin of the werewolf curse traced through Virginia. Around six hundred years ago, the Aztecs were plagued by werewolves and vampires. They terrorized the countryside, made farming and hunting impossible, until an Aztec shaman cursed them, making vampires slaves to the sun and werewolves servants of the moon. As a result, vampires could only prowl at night and werewolves could only turn on a full moon. When the full moon crests in the sky, who ever is unlucky enough to fall under the werewolf curse turns into a wolf." She explained.
Elena scowled at her. "How the hell do you know all of this?" She asked, confused.
"Mystic Falls has interested me for quite some time, Elena. I wouldn't expect you to understand." Aliyah said, lightly.
"Can they control the transformation?" Damon asked, curiously.
Aliyah smirked. "Well, if it were a choice, then it would hardly be called a curse. Werewolves attack humans on the full moon because they literally have to control over their actions, but instinct and centuries of rivalry have hardwired them to hunt their prey of choice: vampires." She explained.
"You've met werewolves." Damon said, knowingly.
"Again, a couple of centuries old, I was bound to have run in to a few of them." Aliyah said, mockingly.
"Well, if werewolves were hunting vampires, I would know about it." Damon said, pointedly.
Aliyah snorted. "You're a baby vampire who spends his time sucking the blood of college girls in big cities, how the bloody hell would you know about it?" She asked, incredulously.
"I'm a hundred-and-seventy-one years old, how the hell am I a baby vampire?" Damon asked, annoyed.
"Compared to me, of course you are." Aliyah smirked, her eyes glinting.
"And how old would that be, exactly?" Damon asked, slowly.
"None of your business." Aliyah snapped. "Anyway, there aren't that many werewolves left alive. Hundreds of years ago, vampires hunted them almost to extinction." She explained, wearily.
Elena frowned in confusion, staring at Aliyah with suspicion. "Why would they do that?" She asked, confused.
"To protect themselves. A werewolf bite is fatal to vampires." Aliyah said, cheerfully.
Caroline approached Matt, hesitantly. "Still mad?" She asked, slowly.
Matt sighed. "I thought we were past all this insecurity stuff, Caroline. I told you how I felt about you, what more do you need?" He asked, hurt.
"Nothing." Caroline said, quickly. "Nothing. I don't need anything else. I'm sorry Matt, I'm so sorry. I'm so, so, so, so, sorry." She whispered.
"I'm not kidding." He said, warningly. "I'm not gonna put up with the drama."
"No, no more drama. Just… I promise." Caroline said, reassuringly, her eyes pleading.
She leaned forward and kissed him, softly, on the mouth. When she pulled back, Matt was smiling at her.
"Come on." He murmured, taking her hand.
"Not much farther, Bonnie." Tyler murmured, tugging on her hand as they stepped over a branch.
"Why are you dragging me through the woods?" Bonnie laughed, gripping onto his hand.
"I had to move the party, so I'm moving the party." Tyler said, innocently, pecking her on the lips, wondering why it was so hard to keep his hands off Bonnie, but then he guessed that it was just Bonnie, so, of course, he had to keep touching her.
"Where are we going?" Bonnie asked, curiously.
"It's right around this tree." Tyler said, reassuringly.
"Are you sure?" Bonnie asked, dryly.
"Oh, yeah, come on." Tyler grinned, both of them entering the ruins of the old Lockwood estate.
Bonnie frowned, her eyes widening as she realised that she was in the tunnels under the Lockwood estate. She swallowed hard, remembering how Aliyah had taken her and Caroline through these tunnels to show her the walls in the caves.
Oh, fuck, Caroline. I was supposed to keep an eye on her. Bonnie cursed in her mind. But she would've texted me if something was wrong, right? And Stefan was there too. I may be angry at him, but he wouldn't let Caroline hurt anyone. She reassured herself.
"Why are we here, Tyler?" She asked, curiously.
Tyler nudged her in the side. "Remember when we used to explore this place when we were kids? No one will know we're down here." He waggled his eyebrows.
"Is anyone else coming?" Bonnie stared at him, her eyes wicked.
"No one at all." Tyler grinned, leaning down and kissing her on the lips.
Bonnie moaned and wrapped her arm around Tyler's neck, pressing her lips more firmly against his.
Alaric, Vanessa and Aliyah were standing outside.
"I trust you're not gonna say anything about this to anyone." Aliyah smiled at her, sweetly, her eyes cold and promising violence if she opened her mouth to anyone.
"Or else you or Damon will kill me in my sleep?" Vanessa wondered, wryly. "He gave me the 411, but if you need anything, you can call."
"Well, hopefully, we won't have to." Alaric said, quickly.
"But if you do…"
"Listen, love, you'd be mental to get caught up in all of this." Aliyah said, sharply. "Really, it'll take over and it will keep you from being able to live your life." She said, warningly.
Vanessa swallowed hard. "Isobel's disappearance… is it related to her research?" She asked, worriedly.
"Isobel became her research. She wanted to become a vampire and she got her wish." Alaric said, darkly.
"Tell you what, I bet that would put a strain on a marriage." Aliyah said, wryly.
"Anyway, I was wondering what it would be like to come back here. It's… it's okay, it's really okay. It feels good to have her in my past. You know, it's time to move behind this." Alaric said, firmly, more to himself than to Aliyah or Vanessa.
Caroline and Matt were in the woods, murmuring to each other, Matt's hands on her waist and Caroline's arms draped over her neck.
"This looks like the spot." Matt murmured.
Caroline looked up at him with curious blue eyes. "For what?" She asked.
Matt smiled and swooped down, crushing his lips against hers. Suddenly, they broke away from each other, hearing the sound of the wolf howling. Caroline frowned and looked up at the sky, her eyes widening as she spotted the full moon.
Oh, fuck.
"Did you hear that?" Matt asked hurriedly. His hands moved around and he scraped his hand on some of the bark. "Ah, damn." He muttered.
Caroline pursed her lips as the smell of fresh, human blood filled the air. She stamped down on her every urge that wanted her vampire features to emerge.
"What happened?" She asked through clenched teeth.
"I'm a klutz." Matt shook his head. He frowned at her, seeing the way that every muscle in Caroline's face was tense. "What's the matter?" He asked, worriedly, baring his bloody wrist in full view of her.
Caroline whimpered and grabbed Matt's wrist, her lips descending and eagerly starting to suck at the dripping blood.
"Caroline? What are you doing? Ah! Caroline! Caroline!" Matt roared in pain.
Her fangs descended and her eyes filled with a bloody crimson, the veins under her eyes throbbing. She stopped, pulled her lips away from his wrist and looked at him, ashamed.
"Caroline!" Matt gasped, rearing back with shock. "Your face!" He exclaimed.
Caroline gritted her teeth and lunged for him, pinning him against the tree with her superhuman strength and sinking her fangs into the soft flesh of his throat. Suddenly, Stefan grabbed her by the shoulder and pulled her off the blonde boy.
"Stop it! Stop! Stop! Stop!" Stefan shouted.
The veins under her eyes started to fade, and her eyes returned to normal, her lips stained with remnants of blood, but Matt's eyes rolled back in his head and he collapsed, unconscious from the blood loss.
"Oh, my god." Caroline breathed and made to help him up.
"No, no, no, stop." Stefan pulled her back. "Listen to me." He said, warningly. "We need to get out of these woods now. We need to leave."
"What was that?" Caroline asked.
"Matt, stay down. Do not move."
They could hear the sound of growling coming from all sides.
"I need to call Aliyah." Caroline stammered, flicking her phone and dialling the number.
"What's wrong, Caroline?" Aliyah asked, worriedly.
"I'm in the woods with Stefan and Matt." Caroline said, hurriedly. "It's Mason. He's a werewolf. And tonight's a full moon." She whispered, terrified. "And I bit Matt. He's unconscious."
Aliyah cursed under her breath, running her hands through her hair, gripping the ends of the strands. "Where's Bonnie?" She asked, carefully.
"She and Tyler went down to the old ruins of the Lockwood Estate, at least, that's where Tyler told us he was going to take her." Caroline murmured.
"Bloody hell." Aliyah muttered. "Okay, I need you and Stefan to lead Mason away from Matt. You can come back for him later. Bonnie can take care of herself. Her magic is enough to take down a werewolf and Mason won't hurt Tyler. But you and him need to get out of there." Rebekah would never let her hear the end of it if she let her boyfriend get killed by a werewolf. "A werewolf's bite is fatal to vampires. You need to run as fast as you can. Go, go!"
Caroline hung up the phone and she and Stefan ran as fast they could, blurring past the trees and the leaves on the forest floor until they finally reached the old ruins of the Lockwood Estate. It was there they saw Bonnie and Tyler coming out of the entrance to the Lockwood cellar, Bonnie's hair mussed, her makeup smeared, and Tyler's shirt half tucked into his shorts.
Tyler frowned at them. "Hey! What are you two doing?" He asked, confused.
Caroline swallowed hard and looked at Bonnie. "It's a full moon." She said, pointedly.
Bonnie's eyes widened with horror. "Oh, no." She whispered. "Did you…"
Caroline nodded, quickly. "She told me to run. A werewolf's bite is fatal to vampires, Bonnie." She said through clenched teeth.
Just at that moment, a grey werewolf bounded over and slammed into Caroline, sending her to the floor, baring its sharp jaw at her and attempting to bite her. Caroline sobbed and tried her hardest to pull away from it, but she was trapped by the ground and the werewolf had a clear shot at her jugular.
"No!" Bonnie screamed and threw out her hands, and Tyler was stunned as some unseen force threw the wolf off Caroline, sending him to the floor.
Suddenly, Caroline's arm was being gripped by a hand and she was being pulled her to her feet. Caroline, Bonnie, Tyler and Stefan were thrust behind Aliyah, and she stood in between them and the werewolf, her body tense and her fangs bared. Her pupils were pitch-black and her fingers curled into claws, ready to strike and snap the wolf's neck if she had to.
The werewolf stopped and stared at them, its glowing eyes making its way to Tyler, before it left, running off in the opposite direction of the woods.
Caroline stood in front of Matt, who was clutching a piece of cloth against his bloody neck.
She swallowed hard. "You're not going to remember what I did to you or what you saw me become." She said, sternly, her compulsion ringing true.
Matt nodded, obediently. "We were just making out in the woods."
"And then an animal attacked you and bit your neck."
Matt frowned. "It's weird; it just came out of nowhere."
She looked at him, upset, and walked over to Aliyah and Stefan, who were leaning against a tree.
"What are we gonna do about Tyler?" Caroline asked, quietly.
"Bonnie will talk to him." Aliyah said, reassuringly. "He… saw her use magic, but my back was to him when I let my fangs show, so he didn't see me properly. But, she will have to explain about her magic."
Caroline licked her lips. "I hope they're okay." She confessed. "Bonnie deserves some happiness."
"You're right, she does." Aliyah smiled, sadly. "But I have a feeling Tyler will be able to look past the whole witch thing." She said, knowingly.
"Um," Stefan pushed himself off the tree. "Aliyah and I talked about and we agreed. I'll get Matt on vervain, it'll keep you from being able to compel him and also to keep you from drinking his blood." He explained.
Caroline shook her head, feeling tears come to her eyes. "I can't believe I hurt him." She whispered.
"Oh, darling." Aliyah whispered, wrapping her arms around Caroline and pulling her against her. "I know."
Caroline sank, willingly, into Aliyah's embrace, burying her face into the crook of Aliyah's neck, inhaling the damask rose and sandalwood scent that was so unique to her sire. Her hands came to curl around Aliyah's back and she trembled, feeling Aliyah's hand stroke down her back, soothingly.
"He is the one person on this entire planet that I never wanted to hurt." Caroline whispered into Aliyah's neck.
"Everything will be fine, pretty girl." Aliyah said, reassuringly. "We'll just have to work that much harder to get you under control, darling."
Caroline swallowed hard and pulled back, her eyes wide with fright, her face pale with weariness. "I shouldn't be with him, should I?" She said, weakly. "Because if there is any danger…"
Aliyah chewed on her lip. "I don't know what to say to you, Caroline." She said, honestly. "I've never been in your position, but I can give you this advice. You should do what you feel is right, not what others tell you to do. If you think that you are strong enough to continue a relationship with Matt without hurting him, then don't walk away from him. But if you're not sure, if you think you'll hurt him, then you may have to make the opposite decision." She murmured.
Caroline pursed her lips as she entered into the Mystic Grill, seeing Matt at one of the tables, sitting and talking with Aimee Bradley. She swallowed down the jealousy and all that remained was the soul-crushing sadness of what she was about to do. She licked her lips, feeling her hands shake in dread. Her stomach churned and her shoulders slumped, her heart warring with her head. She loved Matt, she loved him more than anything, but she couldn't hurt him. She couldn't take the chance that she would slip up and he would become another carnival worker for her. He needed to be safe and he wouldn't be safe if he continued to be around her.
She closed her eyes and buried down every feeling she was currently experiencing. Her heartbeat slowed until it was at a normal rhythm, her chest loosened and she felt she could breathe. She squeezed her fists tightly, feeling the tingling in her skin start to abate.
She approached the two, her face slipping on a careful, annoyed mask, complete with furrowed eyebrows and tight jaw.
"Serious, Aimee!" She snarled, joining them, her hands falling to her hips.
"We were just talking." Aimee said, somewhat defensively.
Caroline raised an eyebrow, allowing jealousy to colour her voice. "Oh, that's what you call it?" She snorted in disbelief.
"Yeah."
"Are you kidding me?" Matt looked at her, incredulously.
Caroline scowled at him. "No, I'm not, Matt. She's into you and anyone can see it."
Aimee bit her lip. "Look, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to… I'm just gonna go." She said, hurriedly, and rushed away.
"Knock it off. What are you doing?" Matt asked, sharply.
Caroline bared her teeth. "This isn't my fault, Matt, okay? She's after you and I shouldn't have to put up with that." She snarled.
Matt scowled, crossing his arms over his chest. "I thought you said no more drama?"
Caroline rolled her eyes. "Well, I lied."
Matt shook his head, letting out a deep breath. He sighed. "Just forget it, just forget all of it." He waved off.
Caroline frowned. "So, what, are you like breaking up with me?" She asked, sharply, feeling a pang of pain hit her in her heart, hoping that Matt loved her enough to fight for her.
"Yeah. Yeah, I guess that's what I'm doing." Matt said, coldly, looking at her once more and leaving.
Caroline waited for a few seconds, before she felt her lower lip wobble. She flashed out of the Mystic Grill and made for the Town Square, sinking down on one of the benches, burying her face in her hands and running her hands through her hair. She, hurriedly, wiped away stray tears that had fallen onto her cheek.
She looked up when she heard the sound of footsteps. Olive skin, an oval face, almond-shaped deep brown doe eyes and thick, dark curly hair, coupled with a dark smile stared down at her. The resemblance was so eerily similar that Caroline had to shake her head.
"Elena?" She tried, weakly.
Katherine smirked. "Nope, try again." She said, lightly.
Caroline's jaw tightened as her suspicions were confirmed. Her fists tightened against her thighs. "Katherine." She said, coldly.
Katherine sat beside her on the bench and Caroline scooted away from her, knowing that she wouldn't be able to run fast enough before Katherine caught her. All she had to do was to get through this conversation and hoped Katherine kept her alive after it so that she could get home to Aliyah and Bonnie and tell them everything and ask them what she had to do.
Aliyah spun around and suddenly, a head covered with bright blonde hair was thrown into her arms. She reeled back in shock and steadied herself, patting Caroline on the back with a great amount of confusion.
"You wanna tell me what's got you in such a tizzy, darling?" Aliyah murmured, pulling away.
"Katherine…" Caroline swallowed hard and Aliyah tensed. "She visited me in the Town Square."
"What did she say?" Aliyah asked, her voice clipped and angry.
Bonnie walked inside, her eyes weary from the conversation she had just had with Tyler. She frowned, hearing the latter end of the conversation. "Who?" She asked, confused.
"Katherine." Aliyah said, coldly. "She approached Caroline. I had a feeling that she wasn't quite done with you."
"She told me," Caroline licked her lips. "She told me that I had to spy on Elena and report back to her. She said that I had to keep Elena and Stefan apart and that, if I didn't do what she said, she'd hurt Matt." She whispered, tears falling down her cheeks.
Aliyah growled low in her throat. "When I get my hands on that manipulative little cow, I swear I'll…" She trailed off, running her hands through her hair.
"Caroline, did she hurt you?" Bonnie asked, worriedly, approaching her best friend and Aliyah, placing a warm hand on Caroline's back.
Caroline pulled away from Aliyah and threw her arms around Bonnie. "Bonnie, I'm so scared of her. I'm so scared of her." She murmured over and over again. She looked at both of them, desperately. "What am I supposed to do? She said she'll come back to hear what I've found out." She whispered. "How do I get her off my back?"
"Can I kill her?" Bonnie asked, coldly.
"Not yet." Aliyah murmured. "But the soonest that you can, I'll let you know and you can have at it." She said, reassuringly. She looked at Caroline and placed a hand on the terrified girl's shoulder. "I'll tell you what you're going to do, you're going to listen to Katherine." She said, gently.
"Wait, what?" Bonnie looked at her as if she had never seen her before. "You can't ask her to do that!" She exclaimed.
"Aliyah-" Caroline breathed, tears welling up in her eyes.
"If Katherine thinks that you aren't going to do what she wants, she will come after you with a vengeance, Caroline. And she will kill Matt without missing a beat. And then she will kill you. Because that is what Katerina Petrova is nowadays. She doesn't flinch before staking someone in the heart." Aliyah murmured. "So, I need you to play a little game. Just for a little while. I gave you my word that nothing will happen to you and nothing has changed since then." She said, determinedly. "Katerina will not harm you. I will kill her before that happens." She said, coldly.
"But she wants to know information about Elena and Stefan." Caroline protested, wiping the tears from her cheeks.
"So, you will give it to her." Aliyah said, softly. "Just until we can work out what her plan is."
"Elena won't like this, Lee-Lee." Bonnie said, warningly, rubbing Caroline's back, comfortingly. She didn't like the plan but she also knew that there was probably no other way to get Katherine to back off for now. And Caroline had to be safe.
Aliyah rolled her eyes. "Elena's not my concern." She said, lightly. "You and Caroline are. And right now, Caroline is the one in trouble right now, not Elena. Katerina won't hurt Elena because she needs to give Elena to Niklaus. It's the only way she can ever stop running from him, Bonnie. Other than me, Elena is probably the safest person in Mystic Falls right now."
"Except, you know, until your husband sacrifices her on an altar." Bonnie said, pointedly.
Aliyah shrugged. "Let's deal with this problem for now." She smirked.
"What if I can't fool her?" Caroline asked, quietly.
"Well," Aliyah drawled. "Technically, you wouldn't be fooling her, because you'd be giving her actual, truthful information. And she can't come into this house because it's in Bonnie's name and she can't come into your house because your mother would have to invite her. But she looks exactly like Elena, so that may be a bridge we'll have to cross." She mused. "But I'll keep an eye out for your mother and Matt, if it would make you feel better." She offered.
Caroline nodded, tearfully, wrapping her arms around Aliyah and burying her face in the crook of her neck. "Thank you, Lee-Lee." She whispered against her skin.
"No problem, darling." Aliyah murmured.
Caroline sniffled and looked at Aliyah and Bonnie. "So, we're aware of what kind of day I've had, how were your days?" She asked, swallowing past the lump in her throat. "Well," She started to smile, her lips curling. "I know how Bonnie's day was. I saw her and Tyler coming out of the Lockwood cellar, and trust me, she looked thoroughly-"
"Don't!" Bonnie said, warningly, flushing brightly. "Okay, fine. I was with Tyler the whole day. And yes, we made out. We made out a lot. In the woods and in the Lockwood cellar. We didn't have sex. And if we did," She sent Aliyah a warning look. "We'd have used condoms. So, no more lectures on safe sex, please." She said, sharply. "Now that I've thoroughly embarrassed myself to you two, Aliyah," She gave a winning smile to Aliyah. "How was your day?"
"Well, actually, Alaric, Elena and Damon found something out today that I probably shouldn't have neglected to mention to you." Aliyah said, hesitantly.
Caroline and Bonnie both frowned.
"What do you mean?" Bonnie asked, curiously.
"Well, Isobel's research mentioned something that will most likely come up more than once." Aliyah murmured. "A couple of hundred years ago, before Niklaus, myself and Elijah met Katerina when she was human, we were all eager to find the doppelgänger so that Niklaus could break his curse." She explained. "So, we devised a way to keep the whole vampire and werewolf species on alert for the doppelgänger. We invented something called 'The Sun and the Moon Curse'."
Caroline narrowed her eyes. "What do you mean 'invented'?"
"I mean that there are many vampires and werewolves under the misconception that such a curse exists, when it was simply a ruse so that we could find the doppelgänger quicker." Aliyah shrugged.
"So, what is this curse?" Bonnie asked.
"We told everyone that the 'curse' was an ancient Aztec curse that a great shaman cast a thousand years ago on vampires and werewolves. The curse decreed that the werewolves would only be able to turn into a werewolf on a full moon, and that the vampires would be weakened by the sun. We said that the blood of a human Petrova doppelgänger, ergo Elena, and the moonstone were needed to break the curse. If the vampires were able to break the curse, they would be able to safely roam during the day, leaving werewolves able to turn only on a full moon forever. But, if the werewolves were to be the ones who broke the curse, then they would be able to turn whenever they wanted, while vampires were left to only venture outdoors at night, and would be unable to do anything about it, aside from wearing daylight rings."
"So, why did you fabricate a curse?" Bonnie asked, confused.
"We had the moonstone for awhile. For a couple of hundred years. But we had to make sure that both the werewolves and the vampires would be on the look out for a long-lost moonstone and doppelgänger over the centuries by making their discovery relevant to those species." Aliyah shrugged.
"Okay, so Elena, Damon and Alaric are now under the impression that this curse needs to be broken." Bonnie raised an eyebrow.
"Well," Aliyah drawled. "If they're not yet, they will be." She said, slowly. "So, just so you know, that's all you know as well. You know nothing about a hybrid curse. All you know is there is this 'Sun and the Moon' curse that needs to be broken." She said, sternly.
Caroline and Bonnie nodded, obediently.
Caroline groaned. "This is getting more and more confusing."
Aliyah shrugged. "It's very simple. Niklaus doesn't exist for you both. You don't know who he is. You know nothing about Original vampires or hybrids." She smiled, sweetly. "All you know is that Katherine is an absolute cow and we all have the common intention of seeing her burn in hell." She grinned.
Caroline and Bonnie looked at each other and then smiled at Aliyah, who beamed right back at them.
"I can live with that." Bonnie said, happily.
That night, Aliyah was passing through the corridors of the house when she heard the sound of tears coming from Caroline's room. She sighed and her shoulders slumped, her head tipping back as she asked an unknown being how she had changed from being an Original bitch to someone with actual maternal feelings.
She bit her lip and made her way over to Caroline's door, hearing the sound of two separate heartbeats, one slower than the usual. As she got closer, the scent of the two girls inside ripened and she could distinctly identify the two as Bonnie and Caroline. Bonnie smelt like honey and vanilla and home – a Bennett witch after all –, while Caroline smelt like an unapologetic blend of citrus and crispy lilacs and agapanthus.
She stepped inside to find Caroline sobbing in Bonnie's arms, as the young witch stroked back Caroline's hair, soothing her. Bonnie heard Aliyah's entrance and she looked up to send her a worried look.
"Is she alright?" Aliyah mouthed.
"She's upset over her breakup with Matt." Bonnie murmured.
Aliyah nodded and approached Caroline, cautiously, not knowing if the young vampire would appreciate Aliyah's comfort when they didn't know each other all that well. She sat, carefully, on one end of the bed and placed a hand on Caroline's knee, squeezing.
"I didn't want to do it." Caroline whimpered. "But I was so scared that something like what happened today would happen again." She looked up at them, her makeup running in streams down her face, her cheeks wet and her eyes bloodshot. "I have to protect him. I love him. I love him so much." She whispered, trembling.
"We know, Care. We know." Bonnie said, soothingly.
"Everything will be fine, pretty girl." Aliyah murmured, taking a deep breath.
Bonnie rubbed her back. "You did what you thought was best." She whispered, comfortingly.
"So, why am I still crying?" Caroline wailed. "I can't stop, Bonnie. I just want him."
"Because you love him, Caroline." Aliyah said, quietly. "And love has the ability to break your heart in ways that you cannot even imagine." She said, grimly.
"How did you do it?" Caroline hitched in a breath and looked at Aliyah with wet eyes. "You and Klaus. I mean, you say you're angry at him, but the way you talk about him, it's clear that you're still in love with him." She said, quietly. "If you love him so much, how did you do it? How could you leave him?"
Caroline swallowed hard. "I mean, Matt and I have been dating for a couple of months and I pretty much want to die after everything that happened today." She whispered. "How could you stay away from him for eighty-five years?" She asked, disbelievingly.
"You get better at it, pretty girl." Aliyah smiled, helplessly, and leaned over, stroking Caroline's warm cheek with the pads of her fingers. "When you have lived as long as I have, when you have seen what I have seen, when you have felt the way I have, you realise that you can, in fact, love someone and hate them at the same time." She murmured, taking both Bonnie's hands and Caroline's hands in her own. "There is a fine line between love and hate, Caroline, Bonnie. Make sure you never experience that."
Bonnie and Aliyah sat up and they wrapped their arms around the young vampire, Caroline's head resting on Aliyah collarbone as she stroked through their hair, soothing Caroline through her trembles, while Bonnie wrapped her arms around Caroline's waist in a loose hug and rubbed her back, humming under her breath.
"Everything's going to be fine, Care." Bonnie whispered, bleakly, feeling a sharp pang of pain strike her in the heart as she watched her best friend break into pieces in terrifying agony from losing the boy she loved.
But something told her that everything would get a whole lot worse before they got better.
Reviews:
Guest: I'm so glad you liked it!
NicoleR85: I'm really enjoying those interactions myself. It's really fun to write Aliyah all bitchy and sarcastic and just generally treating the three like shit.
jordanjanellejoy: I really did like writing the Tonnie flashback. They're so adorable as kids. I'm glad you're liking the Baroline in this story too. I was a little worried I had overtaken them with all the Baroliyah, Caroliyah and Caronliyah. I love writing Caroline, she's so great and funny and real. She's my favourite character in the whole show and I'm glad you're liking my characterisation of her. Aliyah's not once to mince words and she's made it pretty clear how much she despises Elena. Not just as a person but as a doppelganger. And don't worry. You're not alone in your hatred of Damon. Trust me, I hate him just as much. Never stopped hating him actually.
PracticallyCharmed: The best part of writing the last chapter was writing Aliyah chewing out Elena for all her crap. I'm glad you're enjoying the Tonnie and the Baroline. And it's so good to know that I've got an in-character Caroline. I was really worried about that :)
Wikked: I know a lot of people are gung-ho for a Klaus and Aliyah reunion. And I'm really sorry I can't deliver just yet. As far as I know there won't be a face-to-face reunion until The Last Dance which is still quite a while away. We're looking at over 20 more chapters as far as I know. But never fear, that doesn't mean there's no Nikliyah in the present at all. We'll have some interaction between the two, just not a face-to-face one. And Elijah will be appearing soon. And we'll have heaps of fun with him and Aliyah.
Guest: I'm so glad you liked the confrontation. It was so much fun writing it. Definitely my favourite in the whole chapter. And I agree. I can't stand Elena. There's so many cracks in her characters, I don't understand why people see her as this goody-goody. I mean, for God's sake, she committed genocide for no reason at all. She's singlehandedly behind every horrible thing that has happened to the people around her, which would never have happened if she hadn't made stupid choices around men who she didn't even know that well. People act like Elena's some role model for feminism when she's the most un-feminist character in the show. She constantly chooses her boyfriends over everyone else (when she didn't even know them for that long) time and time again and she always has to be saved. But, yeah, I was actually incredibly shocked when I went through the timeline. I mean, what kind of girl voluntarily chooses guys who she's known for a couple of months or wasn't even dating over her two best friends. The problem with Elena is that she demands loyalty but she sucks at giving it to people. And then she whines when things don't go her way. I could go on for ages about why I hate Elena, but I should really stop before I spend the entire chapter going on about it. I'm so glad you like Aliyah. And I'm really happy that you're pleased with the plot. Frankly, that is what I wanted in a female character in TVD too. Unfortunately, the closest, in my opinion, we got was Katherine and Rebekah. Katherine didn't really put anyone above herself, but we did get some good Kathonnie and Katholine moments in the show, and Rebekah was just too whiny to be a good female character. Kol, after Klaus, is my favourite Original character. I feel like he's treated like crap by his siblings and I wanted someone to bond with him because he's so awesome. And Aliyah and Kol will have that connection that they were both practicing witches at the time when they were turned. They both lost their magic at the same time and Kol was the only one who knew the truth about all of her troubles with Klaus and Elijah and they grew very close because of all of that trauma. But we'll see that when Kol wakes up. I'm glad you like Tonnie. They're so adorable together and I always felt like Bonnie deserved better guy that Jeremy of all them. I mean, look at all the guys in TVD/TO and Bonnie gets Jeremy? I mean, why not Klaus or Kol or Tyler or Enzo or Elijah etc. At least, there was something brimming between her and Kai in Season 6. That makes me feel a lot better. See, the thing with Klaus is that he's intensely paranoid about the fact that Aliyah will one day realise that he's not good enough for her and leave him for Elijah. That paranoia makes him do stupid things that hurts Aliyah and pushes her away and trust me, there's a lot of marriage drama to come with them. See, I have to disagree with you on Klaus because I love him so much. I wholeheartedly approved of his actions towards Elijah and Rebekah because they screwed up by siding with Hayley over him. Whether anyone likes it or not, Hope is Klaus' kid and Hayley doesn't have the right to take her away like that from her father just because she would prefer it if Jackson was Hope's real dad. We wouldn't tolerate it if Klaus had kidnapped Hope, there's no reason why Hayley doing it should be different. I don't know if you're the anon on Tumblr by not, but I did give an answer to that there. I'm getting the feels for a Kol/OC story, but I have no idea how long it'll take me to do that and I have way too many other stories to knock out before that. But I may get into it sometime in the future, but not without thoroughly outlining it and I need more inspiration. But who knows?
Arianna Le Fay: Thank you for that! I'm so glad you like the story so far!
LadyDV011: Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked the chapter!
Viva33: I'm so glad you liked the story so far and hopefully you like this chapter just as much!
Skyeward MusicLover: Thank you so much!
AnneAC: I hate Elena just as much, hun. If not more so. And Aliyah's just like my mouthpiece with all that hate. Except she can articulate it better ;) I'm glad you liked the flashback. I really loved writing that. It was so cute and sweet to see possessive Tyler at such a young age, and it was really to show how those two have been tied together since they were babies, pretty much. I know there aren't many Tonnie fics out there, so I'm glad you like this one! And there's going to be so much more teasing about the various guys that come into these girls' lives. Especially about Tonnie and later Caroline's romance and maybe even about Nikliyah. Those three are becoming like best friends and sisters and I hope it shows in their easy banter. And I know people are really liking the Koliyah friendship. I'll be writing more flashbacks with them to stave off the loneliness until Kol wakes up. I promise. I agree that Aliyah's becoming a role model for Bonnie and Caroline, because neither of them had that. Caroline never had a proper vampire mentor because Stefan had his own bloodlust problems to be a proper mentor. He was always distracted by the Elena problems and I wanted Caroline to have someone who put her first. And Bonnie never had anyone but her Grams and Sheila died very early on, so Aliyah kind of stepped in and she's planning on helping Bonnie control and develop her magic. I can't wait for the big reunion either. And there are some scenes between Klaus and Aliyah coming up, they're just not face-to-face. Not really Klaus POV but he is in the scene. Elijah's coming up soon. I've already written Rose so I know how it goes. And they're relationship is pretty angsty, but it's so fun and dramatic to write. And I do have a pairing in mind for Elijah, but it won't be coming for awhile. So, we'll see a lot of hopelessly-in-love-with-his-ex-wife Elijah for the time being. And I agree, Damon and Elena can just go to hell, as far as I'm concerned. That is so sweet to say! I'm so glad you like the story so much. It means a lot to me that you would say that, so thank you so much 3
Guest: Um, unfortunately, I don't know anything about Assassin's Creed and I have no plans to find out anything. I'm sorry.
Martyna Malecka: Thank you so much, hun! I'm so glad you like it so far! That's so sweet, hun :) I'm glad you think it's publish-worthy. I don't think so, but it's nice to know that you feel that way! No, Caroline and Stefan won't be together. Mostly because I don't really ship them all that much. And I'm really reluctant to put Caroline with any guy that has loved Elena before because it would just be really bad for Caroline's self-esteem in my opinion. Not to mention, I've already decided on Caroline's pairing and I'm kind of leaning towards Stebekah at this point. Not that I have anything against Steroline, I just ship them as a BrOTP rather than an OTP. But, I may write a oneshot where Stefan falls for Caroline instead of Elena when he moves to Mystic Falls. And as for Caroline's pairing, I'm keeping my mouth shut on Caroline. But Elijah will be hopelessly-in-love with Aliyah when we see him, I promise. And you're so adorable! I love that idea, but unfortunately, I wrote bits and pieces that you need to know for the future in the episodes between Bad Moon Rising and Rose, so we do still have to go through those episodes. Trust me, I totally get it, I'm having Elijah withdrawals myself.
HPuni101: Thanks, hun!
Rose1414: Thank you so much!
The Yin and Yang Fallen Angel: Thank you so much, babe :) I'm glad you like it so far. Frankly, the whole point I was going for in this story is giving Bonnie and Caroline someone who is all for them. Someone who chooses them over Elena and helps them through all the trauma in their lives. If you think about it, Bonnie and Caroline experienced more loss and hatred and just general crap in their lives than Elena in the first three seasons, but Elena gets to be a victim. I hate Elena. I didn't at the beginning. Now I do. Actually, funnily enough, your favourites are my favourites. Just with Bonnie as well. See, but I die-hard ship Klaroline as my OTP. Stefan and Damon tell Aliyah everything. If you look at chapter 4, the wording in Aliyah's compulsion definitely suggests that they tell her every single little bit of information. Well, once they find about vervain and Original compulsion, they will start drinking vervain, but drinking vervain in the present doesn't remove past compulsion. So, they'll still be compelled. And who knows what it'll change ;)?
PrincessMagic: Thanks, babe!
LokiLova: Thank you so much! I can see why you had to read the story again. I have to keep looking at the previous chapters to remain on-track myself. I'm so glad you're digging the Tonnie. And Bonliyah, because I do love them together. And I'm glad you liked the confrontation, because I really did love writing it. Aliyah's such a mouthpiece for all of my hate and it's awesome. I don't want to take about any of my changes, but rest assured, if Kol dies, Elena and Jeremy will die in the next moment because Aliyah would've ripped them apart. Again, thank you for your review and I hope you enjoy this chapter!
Guest: Trust me, there's definitely going to be heaps of angsty Alijah and angsty love triangle in this story! If you want more information, look at my author's note at the top of the page, it might explain stuff a bit better about the future of the love triangle.
Guest: Alijah is not completely over and we'll have heaps of awesome scenes with them, as well as a lot of flashbacks that show the depth of their feelings for one another. It's not over, completely, I promise. If you want more information, look at my author's note at the top of the page, it might explain stuff a bit better about the future of the love triangle.
IKiraLoveVamps4Ever: Thank you so much, sweets! You're so nice to say that! I'm so glad you like Aliyah and I agree with you wholeheartedly on Elena. And I hate that Bonnie never gets any proper screentime unless she's helping Elena with some stupid supernatural problem that Elena invited on herself because of her bad taste in choices. And Rebekah and Kol have such a great relationship with Aliyah. Aliyah never takes any of Rebekah's crap and she's been kind of like a mother/older sister for those two after Esther died. I actually am leaning towards Stebekah at this point in time because I don't really ship Rebel, but they'll probably still have a past. Like I've said before, I'm keeping my mouth shut on Caroline's pairing, so it'll be a surprise when we get to Season 3. And the baby plot is super secret hush-hush as well because I just want to draw out all the suspense. And Klaus and Aliyah should be having their reunion soon and it will be epic and dramatic and angsty and incredibly emotional, I promise. Thank you so much for your review!
A/N: So, here was the end to Bad Moon Rising. Because the whole chapter was around 16K, I thought it best to cut it down into two, so you guys wouldn't miss was much longer than I was expecting. I hope you guys liked all of the Tonnie smut. There was quite a bit of it in this chapter, with a lot of flirting. I really love writing this pairing, they have the greatest scenes together.
Because Bonnie wasn't in a lot of the next episodes (which I think is a travesty and so totally TVD-esqe because they're known for marginalising any other character by Elena, Stefan and Damon), she will be having a lot of screen time with Tyler as he comes to term with his curse. We will be having that talk between the two about Bonnie being a witch. As of this chapter, he had no idea about her magic, so he was quite shocked to see her throw Mason off Caroline. And this will add a huge dynamic after Damon kills Mason, and as Tyler breaks his curse.
Aliyah's playing a lot of games now that the Sun and the Moon curse has been introduced. She's going to have to work overtime to make sure no one finds out about the Originals.
I hope you guys like the closer relationship between Stefan and Aliyah. I do quite like Stefan, he's one of my favourite characters, and I'm still playing whether to have the pairings end up with Stebekah or Mabekah and I can't choose which one yet. Stefan really does want to help Caroline and he does feel really bad about what happened between Damon and Caroline, so I think Aliyah would appreciate his sincerity, plus a part of her doing it for Klaus and Rebekah, because they like him so much.
I hope I'm not sidelining the Caroline/Bonnie friendship with too much Bonliyah and Caroliyah. Please tell me if I do. I plan on having the three as this badass trio in TVD and TO, which begs the question of how much of TVD and TO would you guys like to see happen? Like, where would you like it to stop?
There were bits and pieces of Nikliyah in this chapter, but they were more of Aliyah's feelings about leaving Klaus. I'll probably explain in more detail about Aliyah's and Klaus' reactions to her leaving him in 1925. We'll see how Aliyah went about making that decision and how Klaus reacted when he found out what she did.
Anyway, hope you all liked the chapter as much as I loved writing it (and I probably should start writing shorter A/Ns) and leave me a line if you want to tell me something!
