EDIT: So upon re-reading I noticed a huge mistake but it's fixed now and this chapter makes a lot more sense! But there are still twists and turns ahead...

Miku's POV

"Well...now what?" Kaito asked.

"Oh! That park over there has a playground in the middle of it! Miku can we go please?" Chibi-Mi begged.

"Alright, alright!" I said to her and smiled. "Ah, but going to the playground might be boring for you, huh Kaito?"

He shook his head with a smile and said, "No, I don't mind going with you."

So the three of us walked through the trail that led to a colorful playground in the center. Some of Chibi-Mi's friends and their mothers were there and suddenly it was just me and Kaito. We sat on a bench and watched the children play. I wondered if we looked like parents?

Wait, that's weird to think!

"Being a kid sure was fun," Kaito's voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

"Y-yeah, it was. My mom would take me to this park a lot. My brother and I could play all day here if we could."

"Haha, where did we get all that energy from anyway?" He laughed. I laughed too.

"I don't know about you, but I still have bounds of energy!" I stood up and pumped my arms to show him.

"Race me down the slide then," he said.

"A challenge?" I asked.

"Yup!" He darted off to the playground.

"Cheater!" I called after him. We both climbed the ladder rope to the platform and worked our way to the top of the playground. The top broke off into two twisting tubes. Kaito got to his first, but my brother taught me a trick a long time ago. If you put your legs together and point them you'll go faster. Lean back a little too! I heard his youthful voice in my head. I reached the bottom just before Kaito did.

"I win!" I yelled.

"No way, I won!" He protested.

"Don't be a sore loser, Kaito! My feet touched the ground first."

"Fine, fine I'll let you say you win this time. Good thing there wasn't a punishment involved."

"If there were one I'd make you...shave all your hair off," I said. He ran his fingers through his blue locks. Wow, that was really cute!

"You're too cruel!" He laughed. I watched his hair fluff down into place. The way the light from the setting sun made his face seem even more handsome. Thinking back, all the girls at my school had a huge crush on Kaito, including myself, and he always seemed like this unreachable person. But here he was at a park laughing at something stupid I said. Life sure is weird.

"I feel so lucky right now," I said. The words just came out of my mouth and I immediately wanted to draw them back in. I turned away from Kaito fearing that he might laugh at me this time.

"How so?" He asked.

"It's just...I feel so happy that I'm able to spend time with you." My cheeks were burning. What am I saying? "I mean I just thought I'd never be a Vocaloid, you know? It just seemed like such a slim chance, but I worked really hard and now it's my life. I'm sorry, I guess I just felt really overwhelmed for a moment."

"You don't have to apologize for speaking on how you feel. I think it's great that you here with us. Rin was especially worried that you'd be bratty but I'm glad that our new member was someone like you."

"Kaito..."

We both stared at each other. I was speechless at what he said and suddenly being aware of how close our faces were. Slowly, he leaned closer to me. I glanced at his lips and back at his eyes before leaning closer myself.

We kissed.

Very shortly, as he pulled away almost instantly. My heart felt like it was going to burst. We sat there for a moment. Was I supposed to say something? Why did he pull away? Was he disgusted?

"I'm...sorry. I shouldn't have done that," he said.

Don't say sorry. I wanted to say. I couldn't say anything. He stood and nervously rubbed the back of his head. "Actually, I have to get something done back at the dorms. I'll see you later."

Wait, come back! I stood up, but the words still didn't come. I was just left to watch him walk further, and further away.

Rin's POV

Len and I sat along the riverbank practicing tossing rocks across the water. I wanted to come here to watch the sunset since it's always such a beautiful sight. Len tossed a few himself, but he didn't really seem interested.

"Len," I started. "Where are you? You feel so far away."

"I'm right here next to you, Rin," he said.

"You're physically here, but your mind is somewhere else. You haven't been talking much. Please talk to me." I tossed a rock to the water and watched it bounce three times before plummeting into the waters.

"I just don't want to say it."

"But you're going to say it anyway. Because you're Len and I'm Rin and Rin will throw rocks at your head until you tell me," I said. He didn't laugh or anything. I started to worry. I gathered up some more rocks.

"Lily's going to try to become a Vocaloid," he finally said. I dropped all the rocks in my hand to the ground.

"You're...you're lying."

"Saying 'I am' would be a lie."

"No, Len, please tell me you can talk her out of it! Please!" I turned to face him. He was looking directly at me. I sat next to him.

"She seems pretty adamant. She's going to start recording her demo tomorrow and if it's a hit then she'll get signed."

"She probably can't even sing! Ugh, this is the worst day of my life!"

"There's nothing we can do now," he said, "look, the sky's ribbon-colored."

Luka's POV

Three quick raps at the door echoed into my room. I closed the book I was reading and there was Lily.

"Ah, long time no see, Luka!" She said and closed the door behind her. She made herself comfortable on my bed.

"What brings you to the neighborhood?" I asked.

"Just thought you should know I'm recording my debut song tomorrow."

"Hm? That'll sure shake things up around here."

Lily laughed and said, "I bet Rin is throwing one of her famous tantrums right now. Anyway, how have things been around here?"

"Rin and Len are still going strong. I think something is budding between Kaito and Miku now as well."

"Wow, they're all so naïve it's hilarious! I'll be sure to give something for Rin to really get upset about," she stood up saying, "I'm so glad we have this little alliance, Luka! Things are so much more interesting with you around."

She left and I slumped back into my chair. Honestly, this is all so tiring.

Rin's POV

I took a bath hoping to calm down after talking with Len, but I still couldn't stop my thoughts from buzzing around my head. I headed to Miku's room and knocked on her door.

"It's me," I called out.

"Come in!" She replied. I opened the door and she was already in her pajamas writing in a notebook. "What's up, Rin?"

"Nothing, just came to say goodnight."

"Is everything alright?" She asked. I regretted how observant she was.

"I'm going to lie and say yes," I said. She gave a small smile and walked up to me. She grabbed my hand and pulled me to her bed. We both sat on it.

"You should tell me what's wrong, and tell the truth," she said. Suddenly my heart dropped. The truth? My thoughts started buzzing again. I felt like I was going mad. I decided the only way to clear out my mind was do just as she said and tell the truth.

"It's about Len."

"I see. Lily too, eh?" She asked. I nodded. "I know how you feel, Rin. I was really upset when my brother started dating his first girlfriend. We were so close and I didn't want to share him. It's kind of selfish but-"

"Miku," I interrupted her. I already know everything she was going to say and she wouldn't understand unless I said, "Len really isn't my brother."

"Huh?" She asked. I felt antsy and walked over to the window. My heart pounded so hard it was all I could hear for a moment. I can't believe I'm actually saying it! "But, wait, you're twins, right?"

"We're not related at all. The fact that we look alike is just a weird coincidence. But it's good for us being Vocaloids. The fans think it's so cute," I said. Somehow, a laughter escaped my throat. "I'm kind of glad for it, though. I can live out my dreams this way."

"Rin..."

"I love being a Vocaloid. Being at home was really rough for me, and singing is my escape. Len has always been there for me. But it's not just my dream, it's his, too. It's just so hard because...I'm in love with Len. We just keep up this act for the sake of that dumb contract." I turned to look at her to see her reaction. I then realized there were tears streaming down my face. "I'm really stupid aren't, I?"

"You're not stupid, Rin, not at all," she replied. Her words calmed me. "So this is why you're so upset about what Lily's doing. I guess it's better that way otherwise it'd be completely different. Like a weird brother-sister complex."

I laughed thinking of a certain terrible anime with a plot like that.

"Yeah, I know here isn't another way to explain how I'm feeling without coming clean about that. Thanks for not judging me, Miku."

"We're friends, aren't we? I'm glad you're trusting me with such a secret. I'm really happy about our friendship, ya know? You can tell me anything."

Miku and I talked a little more about more lighthearted things, like her song's progress and upcoming events we're performing at. I've kept something like this to myself for so long and it felt so good to finally get it off my chest, even if it were only with one other person. I felt better, enough to be able to sleep soundly.

I was heading to my room when I heard humming coming from the kitchen. It had to be Len. He always hums the same tune whenever he eats a banana. What a dork. I turned for the kitchen and saw Lily approaching Len. I hid behind the wall and watched. Good thing it's dark, she won't be able to see.

"Oh, Lily, I didn't know you were still here," Len said.

"I was just heading out, actually. I wanted to thank you for coming with me today, even though our time was sort of interrupted," she said.

"So I take it you spent the rest of the day with Mikuo, huh?"

"We only talked for a little while, just about music stuff. Sorry for leaving like that, I was just frazzled a bit from your sisters little stunt."

"Oh, well," Len laughed. "You know Rin."

"Whatever, it doesn't bother me anymore. Besides," Lily walked over to Len and placed her hand on his wrist. "You'll still be my number one no matter what, right?"

"R-right." He said, looking off to the side

"Don't sound so hesitant, Len." She placed her hand on his chin and he looked at her, his eyes focused on hers.

"I'm not. I'm happy we were able to spend time together, too."

"I'm glad. Okay, goodnight. Before I go…" Lily wrapped her arms around his neck and pressed her lips against his. Len brought his arms down to her waist. My heart dropped and brought me down to the floor. I covered my mouth to keep myself from making any sound.

I cried so hard, but I didn't move. I couldn't even if I wanted to.

I was frozen.
