Chapter 39- Back home

Ruby landed smoothly on the rug of her childhood home she stepped aside and Scorpius landed moments later.

"Ruby, is that you?" Her father called, apparently from upstairs.

"Yeah, you okay?" She asked, walking to shout up.

"Yep, we'll be down in a minute, pop the kettle on." He called, Ruby walked into the kitchen and Scorpius snuck up behind her and put his arms around her waist.

"Remember, you can't look too happy, Vic already thinks something's up."

"I know, I'll try and be normal." Ruby could feel him smiling and she found herself grinning too. It was Friday evening and she had arrived to see her father off and stay with her mother.

A few minutes later her father walked down the stairs, carrying her mother.

"Mom, are you alright?"

"Yes, Fred is just being silly, put me down before I hex you. Hello, Scorpius."

"Hello, Mrs Weasley, Mr Weasley."

"Oh, call us Eliza and Fred, you make me feel old!" Ruby laughed at her mother's words and then noticed at owl carrying the Evening Prophet and opened the window to let it in. It dropped the paper in Ruby's hand and then flew off again. Ruby looked at the headline and felt a wave of relief sweep through her.

"Finally, I thought it was never going to get published." She said, throwing the paper on the table. She saw her parents peer at the headline and her father swore, loudly.

"That was the patient! Umbridge?" Her mother gasped.

"Yep." Ruby replied, sitting down.

"Oh Poppet, I wish you could have told us. Did she upset you?"

"I managed to upset her before the end, Merlin did she hate the success you two made of your lives!"

"Excellent, was it a painful death?" Her father asked, happily.

"As painful as we were legally able to make it." Ruby replied, sitting down and pouring out some tea.

"Harry's on his way." Her mother said, Ruby leaned back and grabbed another mug and Scorpius sat next to her.

"At least she's gone." He said, squeezing Ruby's leg under the table.

"Yep, and she was horrified to hear about us, it was great." Fred snorted as the door opened and Harry walked in.

"She was the patient?"

"Yes, sorry I couldn't tell you. Tea?"

"Yes please, I'm bloody glad she's dead. What time are you off, Fred?"

"About half an hour, I'm meeting Ron at the Ministry for the Portkey." The Floo-alarm filled the kitchen and Ruby's father went to answer it, he returned with Kingsley and a very pale Penny.

"Hello Penny, tea?" Her mother asked, as Ruby reached for another couple of cups. Penny nodded and sat in between Ruby and Harry.

"She was the patient, Ruby? No wonder Kyle wouldn't let me take her."

"Was that an option?"

"Yes, we had a spare side room in Paeds but Professor Langston and Robert insisted she go to the emergency room, I couldn't understand why."

"They knew it would upset you, sweetheart." Said Kingsley, standing behind her and rubbing her shoulders.

"No wonder Robert was so annoyed when she beat the spell…"

"At twenty nine minutes, and then she just woke up and asked for a cup of tea! Kyle told her to shut up." Said Ruby, Penny nodded, still looking shaken.

Within five minutes Aunt Minnie had arrived, along with Aunt Hermione and Uncle Ron. Everyone praised Ruby's ability to keep the name a secret, and Ron was delighted when she told him about telling Umbridge how successful the family was.

"I can't believe you had to try and save her!" Ron said, laughing.

"We have to preserve every life." Said Penny quietly from next to Ruby, Ruby glanced at her and saw how pale she was.

"Penny, can I have a word? In the basement?" She asked, Penny nodded and the two extradited themselves from the table.

"Are you alright?" Ruby asked, after casting a privacy charm.

"Yes, sorry, she was…"

"The one who sent you to Azkaban." Ruby finished.

"Yes, I'm glad I didn't have to face her, anyway…" Penny seemed to shake herself and the look at Ruby with a forced smile "…how did he take it?"

"Like a bloody lunatic, that's how! He was like…Alice-happy! He danced around the kitchen!"

"Really? That's wonderful, I'm assuming you haven't told anyone?"

"No, we were wondering if you could do the ten-week check, before we tell people."

"Of course, actually, I'll do an eight-week, just because of your spleen. I'll pop down next week to make an appointment, Scorpius will have to find an excuse to be up in Paeds but we'll work something out."

"Thanks Penny."

"You're welcome, and good luck keeping it a secret. I take it avoiding Molly is now priority one?"

"Yep, and trying to avoid cinnamon on Waffles, they're my favourite food in the whole world, if Mom was up to cooking I'd already be busted. Scorpius is going to say he wants to cook."

"I guarantee you, Eliza will find out before ten weeks Ruby, she knew Hermione was pregnant within two weeks, it was ridiculous!"

"Well at the moment my paleness and tiredness is being blamed on Umbridge and the trial next week, although Merlin-knows what I'll do when Alistair comes home, if he sees me staying sober!" Penny burst out laughing and they returned to the kitchen.

Fred and Ron were getting ready to leave.

"Ruby, any present requests?"

"Apart from cinnamon. No thanks." Ruby always asked for cinnamon from wherever people went, Scorpius looked confused but Ruby shot him a, hopefully unnoticed, warning look.

"You can get cinnamon here?" Scorpius replied, playing alone.

"It tastes different from other countries, the best was when Uncle Bill went to a convention in Japan, it was amazing!"

"I've got a meeting with the Japanese Minister for Magic next week, I could ask him to bring some if you like?" Kingsley asked, Ruby nodded enthusiastically.

"Please! That would be the best!"

"Have a good trip, I better get back to Gin before the boys piss her off again, I swear she gets more annoyed with them now that when they were kids and she was pregnant with Lily, it's got to be more hormones with twins?"

"Not really, although I hear Annabel and Immy's birth taught you an important lesson, Harry?" Penny replied, standing up and pulling on her robes.

"One that I will never forget." He replied solemnly.

"Do you mind if I come to the Ministry with you? I wanted to drop at letter for Hamish into the Auror office." Scorpius said, standing up.

"Course not, you'll probably be hours knowing the bloody paperwork." Ruby's father replied.

"It's all necessary, although it's Burton on the mail desk so he make you write everything in triplicate, he says it's procedure but I reckon he hasn't mastered the Gemino Charm." Said Harry as Ruby hugged her father.

Within five minutes there was only Ruby, her mother and Aunt Minnie left in the kitchen. They moved through to the living room and Ruby helped her mother lie down on the sofa.

"Thanks Rubes, where's Pox?"

"I've left him with Vic, I didn't want her to get lonely."

"The twins will be disappointed."

"They'll get over it, Vic's really down."

"You should have invited her to stay."

"I did, she wants to finish Sir Cadogon, he's been driving us all scatty."

"Sir Cadogan, he takes me back, poor Neville!"

"He shouldn't have lost the passwords." Aunt Minnie replied.

"He didn't, Sirius got Crookshanks to steal them." Aunt Minnie paused and then let out a short laugh.

"In that case, poor Neville. That was quite a night!" Ruby heard the story and instantly felt sorry for Professor Longbottom.

Scorpius returned two hours later moaning about Burton, insisting that he kept him longer because he was a Malfoy.

"Did Fred and Ron get off okay?" Her mother asked.

"Oh, yeah, the Portkey left on time." Ruby expanded the armchair and Scorpius sat next to her.

"How is your training going, Mr Malfoy?" Aunt Minnie asked, stroking Crumbs who had jumped onto her lap.

"Really well thanks, although I miss the practical. You can call me Scorpius."

"Do you know where you want to specialise?" Her mother asked, wincing, Ruby glanced at the Potion sheet that her father had left her and summoned a Potion from the kitchen.

"Paediatrics, I've always loved children. Healer Shacklebolt agreed to let me work on the ward over the summer."

"Take this Mom." Ruby said, measuring the Potion and standing up. Her mother leaned forward and the smell of the Potion filled Ruby's nostrils and it was as much as she could do not to throw up all over her mother.

"Thanks Ruby." Her mother downed the Potions and Ruby mumbled about needing the toilet and walked up the stairs as quickly as she dared. She reached the bathroom and emptied her stomach, clutching the toilet.

"You okay?" Scorpius asked, Ruby nodded as she heaved again.

"You…shouldn't have come!"

"I said I was bringing our stuff up, don't worry." He knelt down and held up her hair.

After a few minutes they left the bathroom and went to Ruby's bedroom, Ruby was touched to see that her father had aired out the room and presumably carried her mother in here to transfigure the single bed into a King-size.

"Your bed's different."

"Mom must have transfigured it, did you think you were sleeping on the floor?" Ruby said with a smile, the bed was beautifully created, it even had squirrels carved into the headboard.

Scorpius snorted and enlarged their bags and they both returned downstairs.

"Thanks for the bed Mom, it's beautiful."

"You're welcome, I think my transfiguration magic has been building up, I was so excited it was all I could do not to transfigure everything! I've made the wardrobe a bit bigger as well, and modified the bathroom."

"Thanks Mrs…Eliza." Scorpius said, correcting himself. "Do you have any requests for dinner?"

"No, the kitchen is yours, it's very kind of you to offer to cook."

"No problem, I love cooking. I'll be in the kitchen if you need me." He disappeared and Ruby sat down with a soppy expression on her face.

"He's well trained." Aunt Minnie said.

"I know. He's been great with these shifts as well…"

"You should move in together." Her mother said.

"Maybe soon, I don't want to rush things." Ruby said, trying to control a blush.

"Sometimes, you just know Ruby." Her mother said with a sigh.

"I agree, not from personal experience though. I had a ninety-five percent success rate at predicting couples at Hogwarts, Pomona and Poppy kept a chart, I assumed Poppy still does…"

"Really?" Her mother exclaimed with a laugh.

"Of course, I predicted you and Fred during the first Transfiguration lesson that you shared. I had never seen him concentrate so much!"

"On the work?" Ruby asked.

"No, although his marks certainly shot up, on Eliza's face. He was…lost."

"What about Ron and Hermione?"

"Second year, his face when she was petrified, the constant bickering though – most of the staff agreed by fourth year, especially with the Yule Ball."

"What about Aunt Ginny and Uncle Harry?"

"A late blooming romance, she always had a crush on him, of course, but I wasn't certain until a Quidditch match during sixth year. He kept staring at her."

"Have you ever seen love at first sight?"

"Yes, once, Molly and Arthur. There was a two year age gap but…it was there, right from the sorting."

"Did you see it with Vic and Teddy?" Ruby asked but her mother answered.

"Everyone saw it with Vic and Teddy, even Ron!"

"And I saw it with you and Scorpius, there was something when you danced at the Ball."

"I saw that too!" Her mother said, nodding to Ruby.

"Anyway, enough talk of love, I must be going!" Aunt Minnie stood up.

"Stay for dinner, please?" Ruby asked.

"Sorry Ruby, I'm having dinner with Hagrid, we are celebrating seventy seven years of knowing each other."

"That's nice, are you going out?"

"Yes, a restaurant in Anglesey, not far away actually, it has a large selection of large dishes. We always go there on this day, we haven't missed a single one since I was twenty, not even during the war."

"Thank Hagrid for the card."

"I will, I shall see you both soon." Aunt Minnie apparated with a crack and Ruby was left alone with her mother.

"So how are you feeling? Really." Ruby asked.

"A bit sore but better than I was expecting. I still can't believe you all went behind my back…"

"Dad said it wasn't behind your back, it was 'over your unconscious body'." Ruby replied, her mother snorted.

"Sounds like Fred. I'm going to have a nap."

"Okay, call me if you need anything."

"Of course." Ruby stood up but her mother opened her mouth to speak again. "Ruby, did Umbridge…"

"She got inside my head, that's for sure, and Kyle's, she was horrible."

"She always was able to spot weak point."

"On the morning she died I told her I'd just had a cup of tea with you and Aunt Minnie and that earlier I'd had…sex with Scorpius…"

"Pah! You are so like Fred sometimes!"

"Kyle got the last word, we were both glad when she didn't break the second spell, it wasn't very professional of us."

"Don't think on it, she brings out the worst in people."

"She said…" Ruby stopped.

"What? Tell me, please."

"She said it was her idea to use the Polyjuice when you were in Azkaban."

"I should have guessed, she hated both of us. Don't think on her Ruby, she's dead."

"I know, I told her she lost, you won Mom, you and Dad." Her mother nodded and Ruby walked into the kitchen, Scorpius was grinning like an idiot.

"Will you stop looking so happy?!" Ruby laughed, Scorpius put a wooden spoon down and came to hug her.

"No, never."

"Just make it less obvious, please."

"When other people are around, I promise." Ruby smiled and kissed him softly.

"I can't wait to get to bed." She whispered as she pulled away.

"Are you tired? Have a nap."

"No you idiot, I want to…"

"I know, I recognise that face." Scorpius laughed. "Have a nap though, you do look tired."

"I'm going to have a bath, Mom's having a nap. How long till dinner?"

"About forty minutes." Ruby left Scorpius in the kitchen and when she returned half an hour later she could hear her mother and Scorpius laughing about something.

"Hey, good bath?"

"Yep, did you sleep Mom?"

"I dozed, then Crumbs jumped on my head. Could you feed her Ruby?"

After a delicious meal of meatball and spaghetti Ruby helped her mother up to bed and then walked into her own room. There was a present on the bed.

"Scorpius?"

"Just brushing….my teeth, don't open it yet." Came his voice from the bathroom. Ruby brushed her teeth in the twin's bathroom and climbed out of her clothes, when back in her room she slipped into a silky nightdress that Vic had bought her for her birthday. It was black silk with a lace trim and it was the first time she had worn it. She climbed into bed and pulled the duvet over her so that Scorpius wouldn't see it, she then added a silencing charm, just in case.

Scorpius emerged a few minutes later, just wearing a pair of boxers under an untied red dressing gown.

"Here you go." He said, sitting on the bed and passing her the present, it was heavy.

"What's this for?" She asked, opening it slowly.

"Just open it." She did, it was a Healing textbook, one that she already owned.

"I've…"

"Open it up." Scorpius interrupted with a smile, she turned over the cover and saw that it was actually a popular Wizarding pregnancy book.

"You're sneaky." She said, with a grin.

"It's called being discrete."

"Thank you."

"You're welcome, now why does it look like you're naked?"

"Because I'm teasing you, I already put the silencing charm up."

"Excellent, so are you naked?" Scorpius placed the book on the bedside table and leaned forwards.

"Have a look." Ruby replied, Scorpius lifted the duvet quickly and Ruby saw him gulp.

"I've…I've not seen that before…is it new?" He asked, pulling off the rest of the duvet so that Ruby was completely uncovered.

"Birthday present that I left here, do you like it?"

"I do, keep it on." His eyes roamed over her body and he pulled off his dressing gown and dimmed the lights before throwing his wand aside.

"Do you find it weird, not doing the Charm?" Ruby asked as he shuffled over to her, looking unsure of where to place his hands.

"Can't concentrate on that, Rubes. I've never known an outfit make someone look more sexy…I…"

"And I'm not wearing any knickers."

"Merlin, I…" He ran his hands over her face and then across her shoulder blades. She leaned forwards to kiss him but he shook his head and moved back.

"No…I'm repaying the bet."

"Are you?"

"Yes, don't move." He picked up his wand again and conjured some silky ties. He left her feet free but tied her wrists to the headboard.

"Can I still look?"

"Yes…I want to see your eyes…no touching though…" Her mouth was on hers almost instantly and his tongue probed her mouth, she wanted to run her hands over him but they were bound tightly.

His hand worked its way under the nightshirt and onto her breast, she gasped and he squeezed harder. He kissed her neck and then peppered smaller kisses along her collarbone.

She tilted her pelvis up, trying to find him but he kept himself well away, focussing solely on the upper body. His mouth drifted to her left ear and when he bit lightly she muttered his name.

"Say it again." He said, whispering into the ear. She shook her head and bit her bottom lip causing him to groan.

"Again, Rubes." Her nickname came out as a guttural sound but still Ruby refused, Scorpius' hand drifted downwards and landed are the top of her curls, she tilted again but he did not move lower. His mouth was still next to her ear and he bit again, so lightly she thought she might have imagined it.

"Come on Weasley, all you have to do is say my name…" He moved his hand lower so that it was over her opening, she could feel him touching the hair but refusing to sink his fingers in.

"So stubborn." He whispered, he moved his face away from her and within a second he had his head between her legs, he blew softly, maddeningly softly. His hands were on her thighs, gripping them tightly.

"Please…" She murmured.

"Who are you talking to?" He asked, she could feel his tongue waiting and she couldn't take anymore.

"Scor…" She hadn't even finished his name before his tongue was in her, his thumb on her centre.

Ruby moaned, wanted to touch him, she pulled her wrists but they wouldn't come free. The first orgasm arrived quickly, when Scorpius' tongue was still inside her, he licked her clean and then moved up and watched her return to earth.

He kissed her softly and she felt a sudden wave of nausea and she turned her head away.

"Untie me." She said.

"You know the terms of…"

"Untie me or I'll puke all…" The bonds were gone and Scorpius scooped her up and carried her into the bathroom, she threw up and within a minute she felt Scorpius' dressing gown around her.

"I could take great offence here." He said, with a smile.

"Do, the baby clearly doesn't approve of you making me beg." She replied, leaning back on his legs.

"Let's get you back in bed. Rest will…

"No, we are having sex first!" Ruby protested.

"You just threw up!"

"So, I'll clean my teeth, I'll be in in a minute, go and get naked, I'll go on top."

"Yes Mam."
